For Obesity: "I've only been on Topiramate for 1 month. I have been getting the tingleness feelings in my hands but I'll learn to live with that if it'll help me lose weight. Right now I'm 5' 8" and weigh 265 lbs. I'm hoping to lose about 50lbs sometime in the near future. My current dosage of Topiramate is 50mg 2x a day and will gradually increase to 200mg a day."

For Migraine Prevention: "The headache clinic gave me topamax In 2009 for migraines. I noticed changes in my vision & most of all my brain. I had lasik eye surgery in 2006 and could see good before this medicine. I noticed changes in vision in 2010 & had to wear glasses again. I also noticed shortly after starting topamax I had brain fog, couldn't concentrate, slow thinking, can't form words, can't remember things, I would be driving a route I drive regularly and would forget where to turn. Unfortunately as of today, 10 years later, I still struggle with these horrible effects. It has ruined my life!! When I called the headache clinic they just brushed it off & said the side effects shouldn't last long or be in my system after stopping the meds. Well I'm here to tell you that is a lie! The bad thing is doctors don't have an answer for me so I'm stuck with these awful & embarrassing symptoms that I don't know how to handle or treat! Very disappointed in this medicine and doctors."

For Migraine Prevention: "For the past couple of months, I have bounced around to specialists for increasing symptoms that I now realize are Trokendi side effects. The side effects are far worse than the migraines. I constantly feel as though I'm on the verge of passing out. I feel spacey and dizzy. I have trouble finding the words to speak--and I speak for a living and teach writing and speaking. I get out of breath. I have a dry mouth. My stomach is upset. I did some reading, and one Phd woman claims that the drug interferes with brain function and may cause brain damage. I'm appalled that my doctor put me on it. After he takes me off of it tomorrow, I am switching doctors. Also, they wouldn't let me dive the Great Barrier Reef six weeks ago because I was on it. Now, I understand why that was."

For Migraine Prevention: "I am taking Trokendi for second week. First week I was taking 25 mg once a day and now I'm taking 50 mg. I have flu like symptoms, difficulty with breathing, my nose and throat feel clogged. I lost my hearing and I have buzzing in my ear. Also, I feel tingling on my face. It is only second week since I have been on this medication. I hope it is temporary."

For Not Listed / Other: "I was put on this drug for back pain after a stint of LYRICA. I had to stop taking this drug immediately. It made my limbs feel like they weighed a ton. I felt depressed and sleepy ALL THE time. I didn't like the residual effect of the drug at at all. I would not be able to recommend THIS drug to anyone who has been on a narcotic regiment of medication"

For Bipolar Disorder: "I was really hoping this was going to help, especially with the majority of the reviews being so positive. Within 5 days I was having speech problems, memory issues, and went into having self harm / suicidal thoughts. I threw it out 30 minutes ago. *** That does not mean this is a horrible option if you have been put on it. With medications like this it can be very trial and error, and will have different effects for different people. This was just my experience."

For Not Listed / Other: "I've been on sooo many anti psychotic medications over the years for schizoaffective disorder. The side effects are awful, mostly I hate the weight gain. I've been on topamax only a month now 150mg and increasing. I have absolutely zero side effects. In fact I had to tell my psychiatrist that I wasn't taking it at night as prescribed, I was taking it when I woke up in the morning. It does not make me feel feel drowsy at all, it just produces a calm that I can only describe as a "normal" feeling. This medication appears to be working well with my body chemistry so far. I'm optimistic and hopeful because I'm not starving all the time like with previous meds!!!"

For Obesity: "One year ago I weighed 265lbs. I started Vyvance for binge eating disorder. I lost 60 lbs. 3 months ago the Vyvance began not working as well as it had been so by doctor started me on topiramate. Brain fog was really bad and when it wore off in the afternoon the exhaustion was overwhelming. However, I did really help with the constant thoughts of food and binging. I just left my doctor and I was switched to Qudexy XR (extended release form of topiramate) to get rid of the afternoon crash. Weighed in today at 199lb. I also suffer from Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and with that depression and recently, anxiety, along with PTSD from childhood abuse and my job (Medic). Overall, I'm kind of a hot mess, but I've finally been able to loose weight which I've struggled with for a very long time. So I'll take it!"

For Migraine Prevention: "I have been taking this medication 50 mg. Since Jan 7 ,2019. At first after reading all of the side effects and reviews I really just wanted to tell the doc forget it try something else. I guess the side effects are really just person to person. I have had the tingling in my hands and feet, and maybe some mental fog but nothing worse than my mommy brain farts. I have lost a few pounds so far like 3-4. Like I said I didn't want to take it, but I didn't want it to be that one med that worked that I passed up."

For Tourette's Syndrome: "The worst med I've ever taken. I was only on it for three weeks as the side effects were too bad to continue taking it. I almost immediately noticed numbness in my hands and feet which I was told would go away. After upping the meds I began to notice that I was zoning out frequently and was unable to focus on any task. I talked with my dr and discontinued the meds when it began effecting my job"

Topamax (topiramate) for Obesity: "Please do not take this medication! it's not worth it! I had put on some weight and doc wanted me to take this to curb appetite. It has caused me to become angry, severely depressed, having crying spells, overly sensitive for no reason, tingling in legs and hands, eye issues, and foggy head. It's been only 3 weeks and I am now tapering off cause I have been snapping on everyone. I was only on 50mg and even tapering to 35mg didn't lesson the side effects."

Topamax (topiramate) for : "I was put on 50mg a day of topamax for chronic vomiting. I only took it for 3 weeks before I quit because I could not deal with the side effects. The numbness and pain in my hands and feet were unbearable. I could not even wash my own hair. The numbness in my lips and tongue. I was not sleeping more than an hour or two a night. I was unable to pronounce 3 syllable words while reading even though I knew what they were. My speech definitely slowed down. Just by stopping my speech has improved already. I could not imagine taking this drug for a longer period of time. I don’t see how this is approved by the FDA with all the side effects people have. 4 days after I stopped taking it I still do not have feeling back in hands and feet and still is painful. This drug needs to be off the market!"

For Migraine Prevention: "I take topamax for chronic headaches. I've been taking it for about 4 years now. My headaches can last up to 6 weeks. When I started I was at 25 MG twice a day. Every 6 months to a year my headaches increase and breakthrough my current dose and my dose is increased. My increase to 150 mg a day was when my memory and word recall was effected (I have a Neurologic condition so which is causing this). This past week I was increased again to 200 mg a day and I'm freezing..."

Topamax (topiramate) for Obesity: "My Dr. has just prescribed me Topamax for weight loss. I'm the biggest I've ever been at 223lb. I have always had the tendency to be heavy as I have fought my weight my entire life but now it's becoming threatening to my health. My doctor said the "foggy" head side effects and kidney stones etc are so rare that it's worth trying. He said that the tingling of hands and feet are the most common side effect and they tend to subside. Is this true? Reading some of these reviews has me scared now but my dr seems like it should be fine. I'm confused. HELP"

For Bipolar Disorder: "I was started on Topiramax for migraine, didn’t really help but shortly thereafter I was diagnosed with Bipolar I. Kept the T’max and went from 400 mg to 600 mg. It keeps me up at night, so I take it all at once in the AM. I also take Abilify and have not gained any weight. Only side effect is being cold frequently, especially my hands and toes. But I do remember starting slowly and thinking my head would explode at 50 mg, lol! Obviously, it didn’t."

For Migraine Prevention: "I am a doctoral student that has carried an A average and ran my own business for 6 years. I started having double vision, memory loss and constipation. My grades declined. I had to wear glasses the first time ever. Even with glasses I still see blurry. I struggle to receive B's in my courses, and no longer work my own business. I have gained 30 pounds in 4 months, look 8 months pregnant and cannot have a bowel movement. A trip to urgent care showed that my stomach and intestines are full and paralyzed. Dr called me this evening and told me to go to er immediately. X-rays showed I have Ileus and my stomach and small intestines are much over extended. I have no blockage but my intestines are paralyzed from constipation resulting from taking this drug to long. I am getting dressed to go now but wanted others to know that unless your condition is serious, take something else for headaches. Loss of memory, eyesight and bowel movements is not worth the trade off."

For Migraine Prevention: "I was prescribed Topamax for migraine prevention. I have low grade migraines that I treat with sumatriptan. After 3 nights of taking 25mgs of Topamax I had a very strange experience whilst in a work meeting. Very scary. Not sure how to describe it but not exactly light-headedness, more a warping feeling in my brain. I also experienced feeling in steady, brain fog, (couldn’t get sharp cognitively), hot flushes, drowsy espeically in the morning, and worried about driving. After 5 nights I stopped taking it. The side effects are very slowly wearing off, I still strange 4 days after stopping. Would advise against others taking this drug."

For Obesity: "I have been on Topamirate for 9 months and have lost 50 pounds. I have been fortunate to have very little side effects. I take 25mg 2x a day but we are considering an increase. I also took phentermine for several months and then I switched to vyvanse. I have had BED and food addiction my entire life and I am almost 48 years old. I do weight watchers and I walk on a treadmill 5-6 hours a week. For the first time in my life I don't think about food constantly and I can identify when I am full, it is such a strange feeling. I have always known there was something wrong in my head that kept me from losing and keeping weight off and I am glad I found a doctor that listened to me and knew how to help me. I will probably be on these medications for the rest of my life but I am ok with that, at least I feel that way right now."

For Migraine Prevention: "I was prescribed this for almost daily migraines. Reading the reviews has been terrifying! I will admit I agreed to take the drug hoping for weight loss as a side effect. I was prescribed 50mg to start at bedtime and at 2 weeks double to 100mg. After all the reviews I decided to go slower than that. I'm mid 40s female with some other health conditions started the drug weighing at 300lb. I started on 25mg at bedtime 5 days ago. I will double to 50mg after 1 week. I'm still having headaches and I'm not expecting them to be gone at this dose. I notice upon waking my mouth is much drier and I am thirsty! My appetite is a bit decreased. Normally I would want a snack of some sort at night and I haven't. My thirst has increased and I have also tried to drink more water weary of kidney issues therefore I am peeing more. No other side effects to report at this time. I am not a soda drinker so I don't know if that would be different or not. Last but not least, I've lost 5lbs as of this am."

For Bipolar Disorder: "I’ve used this medication two separate times for different reasons. The first was for a mood stabilizer. I was on it for around 10 months and I was hypomanic but didn’t realize it bc I was in school so I was putting the energy to good use. I ended up cutting my very long hair off to way above my shoulders with layers. It took 3 years to grow out. I’m still pissed. This most recent usage and more traumatic experience was when I added it to my daily meds for migraines. I took 25 mg of topamax for a week then 50 mg a day for 5 days. I stopped completely after having suicidal thoughts. I should have been more prompt to end the medication bc when I started it I noticed I was more alert and my heartbeat was more pronounced, but I really wanted it to work so I thought I just needed to get used to it. 3days after stopping the medication I checked myself in to the psych ward. Oh also I bleached my hair while on it and I hadn’t colored it in over 10yrs"
