Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "Enjoyed a weight loss of 1 kg per week over a period of 2-3 months. Suffered: loss of appetite and taste for over 5 months. After about 3 weeks of injections, I began to have chest and throat pain about 24 hours after each injection. The first lasted about 10 minutes (I thought similar to a heart attack), but then they became longer and lasted 30 mins each time. I then stopped using Ozempic and consulted a cardiologist who reassured me my heart was good. I had no desire to continue the injections."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "My side effects are not serious. All that I am experiencing is nausea and loss of appetite. I literally have to force myself to eat and drink. The weight is coming off very slowly, but it's okay. I feel it's more inches than the weight. Hopefully, next month will show more. My dosage is 0.5 mg. It's very easy to use. I give myself my own injections once a week."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I’m 63 F with T2 diabetes, and I started on Oz mid-May 2024. Symptoms: nausea, fatigue, GERD, sulfur burps, stomach cramping from severe constipation, constipation, feeling like I need to vomit, ringing in my ears has increased significantly, loss of appetite, reduction of inflammation, occasional migraines, feeling “off” most days, bouts of dizziness, and feeling faint, but blood sugar and blood pressure are normal, improved blood sugar readings, weight loss of 13 lbs. There are some perks: rheumatoid and osteoarthritis inflammation has lessened, though I still feel pain daily, it’s more tolerable. I take no painkillers but will take CBD as needed. Loss of appetite has led to a loss of 13 lbs so far, blood sugar improved so I’m confident that my A1C has improved also. I struggle with what to do: stay on for the inflammatory reductions, weight loss, and blood sugar improvement benefits, or quit because I feel sick most days, so I have no real pleasure in life anymore. No, I’m not depressed."

Semaglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "First dose 0.25mg, had slight stomach pain/discomfort. Later that same night, my appetite disappeared. Just seeing a fast-food commercial on TV made me feel nauseous. I thought if that's the worst of the side effects that affect me, then I'll be very happy with that. By the next day, stomach pain and nausea increased. By 4:00 am, BAM! Diarrhea, severe stomach pain, projectile vomiting, headache, chest pain, severe itching mainly on the palms of my hands and arms. I truly thought 'this must be what it feels like to be poisoned!' I was scared. It is now the next day and I feel fine. A little tired from lack of sleep from feeling so sick. I think I will do my second dose next week...but I'm quite nervous of a repeat of feeling like I was dying from the stomach pains and vomiting. Will I continue with this drug?...jury is still out! On the positive side, I've already lost 5 pounds; but of course, I can't & don't want to eat, too much nausea and vomiting."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I've been taking Ozempic for two weeks now. I wondered how this drug could allow some - or most - people to lose weight. Now I know - it makes you feel sort of sick to your stomach and takes away your appetite - at least that is my result so far. I am hoping to develop a tolerance to it. Not a really pleasant experience so far, but I have not vomited or had diarrhea as some users have reported. It does appear to be lowering my blood glucose somewhat, which is the primary reason I am taking it. I am also taking metformin but have been able to reduce the dosage. I am still only taking 0.25 mg of Ozempic, so the result of higher dosages is unknown now. I will post again in a month or two with higher dosage usage results."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "So I have been on Ozempic for 5 weeks. I am tired a lot. Not sure if this is the drug or my poor sleep, but now that I see others are tired a lot, it makes me wonder. I have nasty burps a lot. I started on a dose of 0.25 for 4 weeks. I had a lot of low-level nausea, but not too bad except for one day. Then last Sunday, I took the higher dose of 0.5, and I was okay on Sunday and Monday, but Tuesday the nausea was horrible, and I had explosive diarrhea all day to the point I had to take Imodium, and I got my doctor's office to prescribe an anti-nausea med, Zofran, which helped a little. The next day, less nausea, and today is Thursday of that week, and I still have the burps and more BMs than I would like, as well as a lot of gas. I know I have lost weight just by how my clothes fit. I have very little appetite. Not sure if the pluses outweigh the minuses yet. I am probably going to try one more week and see how I feel. It has had a modest impact on blood sugars. I have been using less insulin."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "Been on Ozempic for about 8 months. Everything was fine with 25 units. I've had a few bouts of low blood sugar. Dropped a little weight due to loss of appetite, and my A1C is almost normal = 6.7. Anyway, I may have to stop taking it because of the cost. My Part D has a $435.00 deductible for tier 3 drugs with a $42.00 copay. This drug is for rich people only. I'm on Social Security. How can anyone afford this? I'm very upset."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "At first, I had a brief overwhelming bout of nausea that passed. Decreased appetite definitely had me losing weight, but after the second injection, the nausea got much worse! Plus, I had diarrhea/vomiting, and it just got worse daily. I had to discontinue. Now it's been a month later, and I'm still having nausea and diarrhea. Horrible experience for me."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "Worked well at the beginning, and all my levels decreased, such as blood sugar and blood pressure, and the weight loss was good. But as time went on, the effects weren't as obvious. While my blood sugar and blood pressure remained at the desired levels, the appetite suppression was less effective, and I started getting contraction-type cramps in my lower left abdominal area. I'm just over 1 year on it now and considering giving up taking it, but waiting to see my doctor at the moment on the 1 ml dose."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "My doctor switched my medication from automatic insulin to Ozempic, taken once a week, along with daily long-acting insulin injections. I lost my appetite, my mouth feels tasteless, and no food appeals to me, so I have to force myself to eat. My blood sugar levels have been unpredictable, fluctuating between highs of 250 and lows of 60. One minute it’s very low, and after eating, it shoots up, then drops again. I decided to stop the long-acting insulin last Sunday, at the start of the fourth week when my Ozempic dosage was increased from 0.25 to 0.5. Since then, things have slightly improved—my blood sugar isn’t running too low anymore, but it is still high. During this time, I’ve also developed severe heartburn, sleeplessness (only a few hours of sleep at night), and sluggishness, among other symptoms. I contacted my doctor yesterday."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "Find it difficult to take as it makes me quite nauseous. I have been taking it at 12 noon one hour before my lunch. I started off taking it at 3 a.m. when I usually awaken for a visit to the loo, and this lowered my blood glucose very well in the early morning, but then I was not getting enough sleep. However, I could not cope with the side effects and stopped taking it. Since reintroducing it, my morning glucose readings have been in the region of 12-15 mmol/l, which is not great. However, I am on 7mg of Rybelsus. I cannot drink more than 2 glasses of wine, which is good. Also, it has reduced my appetite substantially, which is also good, and I lost 3 kg in weight when I started taking it."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "Have been taking the low dosage for 2 weeks now. I have no appetite and have dropped about 7 lbs during that time. The problem is constant GI pain. No nausea, just never-ending constipation and gut pain. I am taking myself off this until I can find an alternative. The weight loss is nice, but the pain just isn’t worth it."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I suffered from - Loss of appetite - Exhaustion - Nausea - Vomiting (once a week, usually 2 days after my injection) - Low blood sugar events (probably caused because I just had no appetite). When I spoke to my pharmacist, she encouraged me to try to hang in there, telling me it would get better, and it finally has. I was not expecting it to take over 3 months though. My readings are all good, and I've lost 28 lbs, so there were benefits to sticking it out, but it was hard. I had decided that I would continue to take the medication until my next appointment, and if things were still bad, I would tell the doctor that I no longer wanted to use it. Things are better, and my appointment is next week."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I started Ozempic in late December at 0.25 injection. I also take 500mg metformin per day. Soon after I started Ozempic, I had decreased appetite and my sugars improved, but I had reflux, gas, bloating, nausea, and diarrhea. After 4 weeks, I started 0.50. 2 weeks in, I have bouts of painful constipation then diarrhea, nausea, bloating, gas, reflux, and cramping. I've almost vomited a few times. When I eat, it feels like the food just sits and sits, barely moving through my gut. My doctor wants me to stick with it, saying that these side effects usually improve, but it's been pretty miserable. I'm thinking I'm going to stop taking it. While Ozempic has been effective in regulating my sugars and losing weight, I don't think it's worth the suffering that I've been enduring on this medication. I understand that studies showed it causing thyroid cancer in mice, but no one knows if it causes thyroid cancer in humans. I don't want to be the guinea pig the drug makers use to find out it does."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "First, I started on Rybelsus, the 3mg dose, my blood sugar went up over 200. I stopped on the third day, went back to my old meds, and my levels returned to normal. No nausea, no diarrhea, no side effects of any kind. (I did follow the directions to take it first thing on an empty stomach and not eat for thirty minutes.) Dr. switched me to the 7mg dose, so far my blood sugar is running higher than my old meds. I am on day four, so I want to give it plenty of time. I do notice a lack of appetite. At this point, I am not impressed, but I am willing to give it more time before throwing in the towel."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "For the first three weeks on this drug, I had oscillating constipation and diarrhea. I felt very nauseous and did not want to eat much. After upping the dosage, the digestive problems have decreased, but I still feel nauseous and don't have much of an appetite. I have been on it since November and have lost 16 lbs. with Metformin, diet, and exercise."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "Within 2 weeks after moving from the starter dose of Ozempic to 0.25 to 0.5, I began having vomiting in the wee hours of the morning, with increasing intensity, nearly every night for the last 2+ weeks. The last 4-5 have been really rough. I also take metformin 500 and glimepiride 2, both AM and PM. This weekend, I went down to the Ozempic 0.25 dose, but Sunday and Monday nights were both awful bouts of vomiting. (No diarrhea at any stage with Ozempic; occasional nausea during the day, very decreased appetite.) Is anyone else having this bad and persistent vomiting? Thanks and good luck."

Semaglutide for Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "BP and blood glucose levels are the lowest they have been in a decade while taking 0.25 mg weekly for a month. However, abdominal pain, nausea, loss of appetite, reflux, and loss of energy have been persistent and, at times, debilitating since starting on the drug. Additionally, heart rate is running 15-20 bpm higher constantly. Not sure the gains outweigh the loss of quality of life."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I am 20 years old and was diagnosed at age 17 with type 2 diabetes. My A1C started off not bad, I was pre-diabetic for a year and then progressed to diabetes. I’ve been on metformin for 4 years and am currently on 2500 mg. I got my A1C blood test back and it was high, so my doctor recommended Ozempic. I’ve been on it for 5 weeks and it was horrible. I was vomiting nearly every day, had terrible cramps, especially at night, so painful I couldn’t sleep, horrible, disgusting-smelling burps like eggs, and the nausea was horrendous. I haven’t had much of an appetite, sometimes the thought of food makes me feel sick. I’ve lost 6 kg in this time, but I’m not entirely sure it’s worth it. I’m currently on 0.25 mg at the moment and due for an increase to 0.50 mg. I’m not sure if I will stay on it. It’s incredibly hard to find supply as everyone wants it, and it kind of makes me mad that people are taking it off-label when there are genuine people with type 2 who need it."
