Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I started on this medication in December. It immediately lowered my blood sugar, however, it made me very nauseous and have a loss of appetite. It is now February, and I have lost 15 lbs. I still don’t have much of an appetite these days. I find eating very light meals 2x a day helps a lot. Trying to stick with it."

Semaglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Started out with .25 mg. I did that for four weeks and only felt slight nausea after the injection. Today, I bumped up to the .50 mg dose, and within five hours I was nauseous. I finally vomited, and I feel better, but have no appetite now. Nothing sounds good. I’m also sleepy. So far, the weight loss is only about five pounds. If I stay nauseated, it’ll probably increase drastically, but what a dumb way to live! I hope it’s temporary. I could be sick once a week and survive if I get decent weight loss. I am also fairly active, and I exercise 4-5 times a week. I don’t have a thyroid because of cancer nine years ago."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I have been using Ozempic for 12 weeks. Initial physical reactions were terrible, with diarrhea, burping, extreme bloating feeling, loss of appetite. It was terrible, as described by other reviewers. I ran to the washroom 20 times per day in the first 2 weeks at .25. It drained so much of my energy and day-to-day momentum. In two weeks, I lost 10 lbs due to loss of appetite and the diarrhea. At the same time, in 4 weeks, my blood sugar dropped from an average of 8.5 to only 6.2. In week 15 to date, I guess my body has adapted to Ozempic. In week 16, my dose was increased to 0.50. I also dropped one of my diabetes oral drugs. My bowel movements normalized to only 3 times a day. I still have a lack of appetite that I thought would be beneficial for me. For only once a week injection, I will continue having Ozempic."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "Started April 1, 2021, on Ozempic low dose. 3-week intervals it was increased. Side effects were constipation (went on laxatives to help), pain in my back (severe), bloating. Week 11 increased to 1mg, the side effects were major bloating, diarrhea, sounds in my stomach (crazy), nauseous, feeling under the weather. My appetite has decreased to the point that I only eat 2 meals a day that are small. My sugar levels have decreased from 7.1 to 5.2 A1C. I’ve noticed that I have been kept awake some nights like I’m nervous for some reason. In the first 3 weeks, I’ve lost 15 pounds. Haven’t checked since I want to wait but can feel a difference. The pains in the stomach are really uncomfortable, and the bloating I will try gas-x for relief. When I try to eat more than I should, my body tells me that I’m full. If I go beyond that point, I get severe pains in the stomach for hours. But depends on what I eat. Going to stay with smaller portions/healthier foods."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I've been on Ozempic for a year. Taking 1.0 mg. Pros: Have lost 40 pounds. A1c went from over 8 to 6.2. Have stopped taking insulin and glyburide. All positive. Cons: Days of constipation followed by hours of diarrhea. No appetite. Cost is way out of control. But I'm satisfied enough that I'm still on it."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "This Ozempic was prescribed as a last-ditch effort to get my A1C down prior to starting insulin. The first 0.25 dose caused significant nausea, but I battled through it for a couple of weeks before starting the 0.50 dose. The nausea increased with the higher dose, and I considered stopping but had lost ten pounds, had zero appetite, and my sugar was down, so I chose to continue. It's been about 6 months now, I'm taking the full 1.0 dose, and although the nausea is still an issue, it has lessened in severity and comes in 'waves,' so I know it will pass and just tough it through. I've dropped about 30 lbs and counting, my A1C is now in the prediabetic range, and I've been able to lower doses of other medications that were causing significant side effects. I now feel better, look better, have more energy, and no longer have the constant food cravings or desire to overeat. If you can ride out the nausea, the benefits of Ozempic are huge, for me anyway."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I was put on Ozempic for insulin resistance and PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome). I take my 3rd dose of 0.25 tomorrow. The 1st week taking it, I had immediate loss of appetite and mild to severe nausea. The struggle with constipation is still ongoing. I would say overall I just felt yucky. Took 2 doses before my body mellowed out and the nausea went away. I find big meals overwhelming now, and I recommend eating healthy snacks more frequently throughout the day (due to loss of appetite). Will up dose to 0.5 in 2 weeks and am nervous that the side effects will return, but hoping not. So far, I have lost 3 lbs, but my weight fluctuates up and down 5 lbs regularly, so not sure yet if it is the Ozempic or not."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "No side effects other than loss of appetite and feeling full faster and eating less on lower doses. Good BGL around 100. Once I started 1 mg, I got indigestion, nausea, gas, burping, loose stools, and watery stools. Blamed it on PPI meds for GERD symptoms but continues after I stopped PPI meds. I'm guessing the loose watery stools is the Ozempic at this point. I'm supposed to go to 2 mg weekly but I may not be able to handle it at that dose."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I started on 0.25 and did not experience any side effects. However, my blood sugar rose from low 100s to 200-300. My dosage was increased to 0.5. I had gas - burping that was very bad smelling and tasting. I had mild heartburn and a decrease in appetite. My blood sugar dropped to the 200 range. My doctor increased my dosage to 1. I had days of debilitating side effects. The side effects gradually decreased. I am still having some side effects, but my blood sugar is now consistently in the mid to low 100s. I am hoping that as I continue the drug, I will have fewer problems and more success."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "One month on Rybelsus. Blood sugar levels are down from 150 to 116-96. I have extreme nausea, constipation, and I am unable to eat more than 1-2 cups of food at a meal. I am rarely hungry. Food seems to become lodged in my esophagus and is painful. I have lost 13 lbs. in a month. Fatigue is an issue. My autoimmune retinopathy, which surfaced after cataract surgery, is worse. I fear I will not be able to continue this med."

Semaglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Just started my first dose on Monday. 0.25 mg. 265 lbs 5’4. Ok for a couple of hours. Then I got nauseous and weak. I had to lie down. Day 2 felt like I had a bout of stomach flu. Diarrhea and no appetite. Ate saltine crackers and lots of water. Day 3 now and we went out to eat. I ate a chicken wrap and a Sprite. By the time we got home, I was in the bathroom with diarrhea again. Feel achy and hot! I really don’t want to give up, but if I’m going to feel like this to lose weight, then I’ll stay a plus-size woman. I will report back on Saturday. Today is Wednesday. I know quite a few people who are using this as a weight loss tool. Nothing comes easy. As soon as you stop, the weight comes back. It’s a lifestyle change."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I've been on this now for nearly 2 weeks. To help reduce blood glucose levels and boost my weight loss. I've lost 1 lb and have a loss of appetite, also nauseous most mornings if I don't eat after 30 mins of taking meds. Today I ate 2 biscuits with a cup of tea and vomited really bad, which I'm sure is related to this medication. As I feel absolutely fine now. Seems the side effects are the same as the majority here. I'll stick it out and increase the dose in 2 weeks."

Semaglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "First, I am disabled with Lyme disease and severe fibromyalgia. I gained 20 pounds because I couldn't move for 2 years. I went on Wegovy. I was okay with the side effects (no appetite, a little bit of nausea) until I got to the 1.7 dose. I tried for 6 weeks on that dose. I was the sickest after the dose day for the majority of the week. I could barely eat. I did lose weight: 18 pounds in 4 months. I did no exercise whatsoever. In fact, I'm mostly bedridden. But feeling that ill on top of my constant pain was too much for me. I went down to the 1 mg, and we will see if I can do that. I also take pain meds and a fibro drug (also causes nausea). I have a nausea med called Zofran. You might want to ask for this. The nausea is awful, but really not bad for me UNTIL I started the 1.7 dose. Just couldn't stay on that. Definitely takes off weight. At one point, I ate 800 calories in 4 combined days, it was that bad. You might want to titrate slowly."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I started Ozempic in May of 2021. I lost a total of 30 pounds (330 lbs - 300 lbs) from approx June 6 - August 4th. I also added a keto meal plan and started exercising routinely, exercising approximately 4-5 days a week for 45-60 min. I take the once-a-week SC Ozempic. Initially, when starting Ozempic, I had absolutely no appetite for the first 4 - 6 weeks, but it seems as I increased from the 0.25 dose to the 0.5 dose, my appetite has been raging. I do, however, continue to lose weight with my current diet and exercise regimen. I have a 3-month follow-up coming up soon to recheck my lab levels. Hope this helps!"

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "Month 1, I was started on Ozempic at 0.25 mg and had very mild symptoms of bloating and reduced appetite. Month 2 & 3, uncomfortable. Stomach cramps, gas, and diarrhea probably for 4 days after injection. This can be really embarrassing in a small office. By the end of Month 3, I was feeling quite a bit better. At this point, my HbA1c was down to 5.2 from 9.4, I had virtually no diabetic symptoms. No blurred vision, no numbness in fingers and toes, and I was sleeping through the night without visits to the bathroom. And I lost 16 kilo in weight. Month 4 to 7. OMG. Increasing to 1 mg, the side effects are horrendous. Weight loss has stalled, though this is probably due to lockdown. The sickness and eggy burps are constant, and now my doctor says it will be at least 6 months before the side effects could be gone. But I have no diabetic symptoms, my HbA1c is pretty much normal, and I think the effort has been worth it. Not an easy journey, but worthwhile."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I’ve been taking Ozempic for a few weeks now after taking Byetta and not liking it. I also take Lantus, Humulin, Metformin, and Phentermine. I also take 2 blood pressure meds, cholesterol, nerve, and anxiety meds. I’ve had PCOS since 2000, had gestational diabetes with my youngest in 2008, and was officially diagnosed as diabetic in 2015. Last year, I had the scare of my life and went into ketoacidosis and was in ICU for a week. I have a new endocrinologist who started me on Ozempic. I started out with an A1C of 11.5 and brought it down to 7.5. I’ve lost 7 lbs so far. I have blurred vision, stumble, no appetite, constipation, no energy, insomnia, sick to my stomach, and gross belches. I feel like stuff is lodged and stuck in my chest all the time. I sure hope these side effects don’t last forever because I feel like this medicine is making my blood sugars under control for the first time in my life. I have the Dexcom G6, and it consistently checks my levels and my average is 149."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I've taken Ozempic for 2 weeks and experiencing severe nausea and decreased appetite upon smelling the aroma of food. I am eating smaller portions since the nausea is severe. As for weight loss - I have to purchase a new scale, but noticed that my shoes seem bigger on my feet, which means I'm retaining less water and bloat. My pants are also looser. I am taking this medication with Metformin, which makes me use the bathroom and assist in my weight loss. I'll update again after week 4/5."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I’m on Ozempic for weight loss. I started at a small dose for 4 weeks, 0.25, then 2 weeks, 0.5. Now I’m on maintenance, taking 1 mg. In the beginning, straight after the injection, I would suffer from nausea, migraines, and loss of appetite. My side effects have shifted. I don’t suffer from nausea for more than a day, however, I have sulfur gas. It’s horrible. I’m bloated and very gassy. I haven’t lost a ton of weight yet, however, I do think diet is key as I am taking this for weight loss, and so far, yes, my appetite is suppressed. A day or two before it’s time to take the injection, I gain more of an appetite. This stuff is killer expensive, and my insurance doesn’t cover it. I’ll give it a couple more months and see how it goes."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "Enjoyed a weight loss of 1 kg per week over a period of 2-3 months. Suffered: loss of appetite and taste for over 5 months. After about 3 weeks of injections, I began to have chest and throat pain about 24 hours after each injection. The first lasted about 10 minutes (I thought similar to a heart attack), but then they became longer and lasted 30 mins each time. I then stopped using Ozempic and consulted a cardiologist who reassured me my heart was good. I had no desire to continue the injections."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "My side effects are not serious. All that I am experiencing is nausea and loss of appetite. I literally have to force myself to eat and drink. The weight is coming off very slowly, but it's okay. I feel it's more inches than the weight. Hopefully, next month will show more. My dosage is 0.5 mg. It's very easy to use. I give myself my own injections once a week."
