Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "58 yo. Woman. Type 2 for 30 yrs. Morbidly obese most of adult life. At 50 years old, had RNY gastric bypass surgery, went from 315 lbs with A1c of 13.5 with meds to 115 lbs. It worked too well. Even so, diabetes wasn’t even close to being cured. A1c was 8.5 at best with Invokana & Metformin. I used every drug there is with little improvement. So, a year ago, started Ozempic .5. Nausea & vomiting for 2 weeks, but then it subsided. After 2 more weeks, went to 1 mg. I don’t get nauseous anymore, but my appetite is completely gone, which is good if you’re overweight, but I’m a bag of bones, so I have to graze on tiny amounts of food all day & night. Because of the weight loss surgery, I already got dumping & can’t eat fatty food or sugar, so it’s difficult, but it’s better than dying from diabetes. It all depends on the person, so try it & see if the side effects go away like they did with me. I’m going to get labs, and if they’re still good, I’m staying with it."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "Was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in March 2019. Doctor put me on Ozempic rather than insulin, although it's not recommended. He thought it was worth a try along with 500 mg metformin twice daily. The first 3 weeks of 0.25 mg Ozempic were just fine. Very minimal side effects - occasional diarrhea, some gas, and belching. Nothing I couldn't handle. The fourth week of 0.25 mg was worse. Constant diarrhea for four days, nausea, some vomiting. I went to a different doctor thinking I had a stomach virus, he prescribed me an anti-diarrheal, and I felt better. I took the Ozempic at 0.5 mg then, as prescribed. Two days later, nightmare. Diarrhea again, vomiting, nausea, and serious fatigue. I'm in the throes of it right now, and I'm going to be contacting my doctor to see what I can do to counteract this. Besides the side effects, though, it's working beautifully. My blood sugar is down from the high 300s to the low 100s in just a month."

Semaglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started Wegovy in October at the lowest possible dosage and worked up to 1.7 by February. I had no side effects and very slowly lost weight, which I was fine with. I lost 35 pounds in six months. However, oddly enough, after five weeks at 1.7 with no side effects, I became quite ill. I started having the sulfur belches, followed by vomiting and severe diarrhea. I went to urgent care. They said it was a normal response and to take anti-diarrhea meds. I did. It got worse, to the point of diarrhea every 15-20 minutes. After six days of this, I went to the emergency room. They admitted me. I spent nine days in the hospital with severe dehydration, which caused my kidneys and pancreas to start shutting down. Docs felt I had a separate bacterial bug not caused by my shots. I was finally able to go home. My doctor had me start back at a safer .25 dose. I did, but immediately got sick again. I think I need to stop these meds, sadly, as they did originally help me, but I can’t go on this way."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Ozempic injection made me deathly sick, vomiting over and over, had to take medication, steroids, and other anti-nausea drugs for six long days before I felt well enough to return to work. Now, I have a friend with obesity and bad heart trouble doing very well on it. So, I don't know why it makes me so sick and others not. But I did lose 20 pounds."

Semaglutide "I've been taking .25 for 5 weeks. The first few doses I experienced diarrhea and vomited twice. I started my 6th dose and noticed the side effects are gone. I haven't lost weight yet, but feel less bloated and feel a few inches slimmer. I was told I may not notice weight loss until I increase the dose."

Semaglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "First dose 0.25mg, had slight stomach pain/discomfort. Later that same night, my appetite disappeared. Just seeing a fast-food commercial on TV made me feel nauseous. I thought if that's the worst of the side effects that affect me, then I'll be very happy with that. By the next day, stomach pain and nausea increased. By 4:00 am, BAM! Diarrhea, severe stomach pain, projectile vomiting, headache, chest pain, severe itching mainly on the palms of my hands and arms. I truly thought 'this must be what it feels like to be poisoned!' I was scared. It is now the next day and I feel fine. A little tired from lack of sleep from feeling so sick. I think I will do my second dose next week...but I'm quite nervous of a repeat of feeling like I was dying from the stomach pains and vomiting. Will I continue with this drug?...jury is still out! On the positive side, I've already lost 5 pounds; but of course, I can't & don't want to eat, too much nausea and vomiting."

For Type 2 Diabetes "During the 4th week of taking .25 mg of Ozempic, I developed severe vomiting for three days. I have an ostomy and experienced very high output while vomiting. The vomiting and high-output ostomy have stopped, but I continue to be very tired and sleep a lot. I lost about 15 lbs during this period. I assume most of this was water weight. My last dose was 11 days ago, but my appetite continues to be minimal. I recently had a HA1C, and it was down to 5.9 from 6.4 six months ago. I have also taken Metformin during this time."

Semaglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Wegovy does work, problem is... I feel like dirt all day long. I'm fatigued, nauseous, and even the smell of food makes me vomit. My heart races, and I'm quite dizzy. I lost 55 lbs. Do I look good? Yes. Do I feel good? No. I'm down to 153 lbs now. It's time to stop this medication."

Semaglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Took my injection .25 mg Friday afternoon and had a very hard time eating dinner. By noon Saturday, I was violently ill with diarrhea, vomiting, and a fever. The symptoms subsided by Sunday, and I was left very achy and fatigued. On the upside, I guess I did go from 335 lbs to 318 lbs over the course of the weekend. This medication is not for the faint of heart. It is very depressing to see a full-course meal in front of you and only be able to eat a few bites. If you are serious about losing weight, this medication will get you there, but I wonder if it’ll work or if the side effects will at least subside with longer-term use. The nausea is horrible, but you do also have some beautiful dreams while taking it."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "On week 4 now, honestly, the first 2 weeks were a nightmare. Doctors don’t tell you to stay away from fatty foods and not to overeat. If they did, I wouldn’t have had the most horrible sulfur burps that made my eyes water, projectile vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach pain, not to mention constant nausea even during the night. I finally figured out not to eat too much and to avoid fatty foods completely! This was a game changer, and now I’m doing okay. I've lost 21 pounds so far, which is mad, but mostly because in 2 weeks I’ve eaten probably 4000 calories. I’m back to wanting to eat again but have to control myself or face the terrible consequences. Blood sugars are all over the place, as you can imagine, however, insulin sensitivity is way better. It just takes time to get used to. Hope this helps."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I started Ozempic mid-November, with my first injection at 25 mg. Within two days, I had the worst bloating, my stomach bulged. I felt horrible. I had nasty sulfur burps and gas. This lasted for 24 hours. I noticed a decrease in my sweet tooth, and I cut back on my food intake. I lost 10 lbs within the first 4 weeks of taking Ozempic. After 4 weeks, my doctor told me to increase my dosage to .50 mg. I delayed increasing it by 4 weeks. On Monday, I increased my dosage to .50 mg. Day 3, I got really sick, bloating, sulfur burps, and gas were horrible. I vomited at least 2 times. I was super hungry but couldn’t hold food down. All I wanted to do was sleep. By morning, I felt 80% better. Still burping and gassy, but not nauseous or vomiting anymore. I do not plan to continue to take the .50 mg. I will just stick with 25 mg. The misery I felt was excruciating, and I can’t handle it. My next appointment is next month, and I am curious to know if my A1C had decreased or not."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I have been on Rybelsus for 1.5 months. Can’t eat, and what I do eat makes me so nauseous that it all comes back up. I have lost 10 lbs, which is great, but if this upset stomach and throwing up do not go away, then it is not worth it. I’ll give it another week, but I think I will tell the doctor I am done. My sugar levels were high, and that is why he prescribed it to take along with Synjardy. Feeling sick all the time is not worth it."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I've been taking Ozempic for two weeks now. I wondered how this drug could allow some - or most - people to lose weight. Now I know - it makes you feel sort of sick to your stomach and takes away your appetite - at least that is my result so far. I am hoping to develop a tolerance to it. Not a really pleasant experience so far, but I have not vomited or had diarrhea as some users have reported. It does appear to be lowering my blood glucose somewhat, which is the primary reason I am taking it. I am also taking metformin but have been able to reduce the dosage. I am still only taking 0.25 mg of Ozempic, so the result of higher dosages is unknown now. I will post again in a month or two with higher dosage usage results."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "At first, I had a brief overwhelming bout of nausea that passed. Decreased appetite definitely had me losing weight, but after the second injection, the nausea got much worse! Plus, I had diarrhea/vomiting, and it just got worse daily. I had to discontinue. Now it's been a month later, and I'm still having nausea and diarrhea. Horrible experience for me."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I am so grateful for this site. I thought I was alone in experiencing these awful side effects. Yesterday was the worst. Started with horrible rotten egg burping. Woke up with vomiting. I started on 0.5 and decreased to 0.25 because I was experiencing nausea all the time. I am tired. Two weeks ago, I had severe constipation. It really helps with glucose control. I have been on it for four weeks. I plan to see my MD this week. I don't think I can continue. I've only lost 1 lb so far."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "Wow, I did lose a few pounds and have no appetite on Ozempic, but I just can’t tolerate this drug. I am the most violently ill I have ever been. I have had 2 doses of .25, and the abdominal pain, vomiting, and diarrhea for the last 7 days have almost killed me. Too bad, it works, but not worth the side effects for me!"

Semaglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have been on Wegovy for 6 months. I am on the highest dosage now. It has not been a pleasant journey. I feel sick probably half the time. The worst side effect for me is constipation. I poop every 4th or 5th day. I get horrible cramps. I have only vomited 3 or 4 times. I’m waiting for the side effects to go away. I am going to stay on it for a year and re-evaluate if the side effects are worth it. I have never had chemotherapy, but I think this has similar side effects. I have lost 1 pound a week, so about 28 lbs."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "After taking Ozempic for some time, I had some issues with digestion. Diarrhea and vomiting, both containing blood. I went to my local emergency room, and once the blood tests were done, I was admitted to the hospital for 3 days. I received large amounts of antibiotics and needed to continue taking them orally for 2 weeks after I was discharged. At this point, I am still feeling the effects almost 2 months later."

I really want this to work, so I’ll continue. The doctors have had to prescribe nausea and vomiting medicine. It helps. I’m taking Alka-Seltzer for the heartburn. I’m really hoping the side effects will stop."
