Semaglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "It definitely works. I have lost 15% of my weight in 8 months - almost all of it since January 2025. The side effects are really bad for me though. Stomach pain, vomiting for two days after an injection, and general nausea. I may have to stop or go down to 1%."

Semaglutide "I began taking this medication off-label for weight loss. I am on my second week and took my second shot last night. I felt my appetite decrease the first week. I threw up from nausea this morning. I think I ate too much yesterday. The med does slow down digestion to leave you feeling full longer. I did eat a normal serving of dinner but had eaten a couple of hours prior, and I just don't think my body could process all the food. I won't be giving up on the med. So far, the nausea/vomiting and perhaps some vision changes are the side effects I am noticing. My eyes seem tired, and it's not that I can't see, but they feel a bit strained. I should add that so far, I have lost 5 pounds in 7 days."

Semaglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I used Wegovy for several months with no problem and much success; I lost 20 lbs. For whatever reason-insurance, doctor, pharmacy, manufacturer-I was unable to take the drug. I restarted Wegovy yesterday at the same high dose I was taking when I stopped; suddenly, I threw up everything I had eaten. Today, I feel blah."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I started 3 months ago because my glucose levels would not change and come down no matter what I did. I tried different diabetes tablets and alogliptons, so I started on 3 mg for 1 month, no problems. Then a month on 7 mg, sugars started to drop, and I started losing a bit of weight. Now I just started 14 mg, it stops me from eating much at all, very small amounts, and I have to stop. It takes 4 goes to get a small Sunday dinner down. My glucose is right down now, which is great as the next step was injection insulin instead. I take them when I get up, 30 minutes before food as directed. But I am having bouts of vomiting. I have to run to the toilet. It can be quickly after food or a few hours after. It's early days yet, hoping it will settle as I am definitely shrinking my stomach, which is good to keep weight off. I have lost 4 lb so far, I only need a stone and a half off and hope I go back to not being diabetic. The doctor will put me back on 7 mg if I'm still sick."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "This is my first week (5 days in) and the dosage is 0.25 mg. Extreme nausea and occasional vomiting for three days, then abrupt cessation of those symptoms. Still have an appetite with occasional craving for sugar but much diminished. No weight loss yet, but I am trying to be patient. I am a nurse practitioner and expected that it would be easy to administer. I am embarrassed to say that I had a difficult time with the instructions, but I finally was successful. The instructions and the device itself were far too complicated, I thought. It was not intuitive at all. But, I am hopeful for success at both blood sugar management as well as weight loss. Thank you."

Semaglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I need help to decide if Ozempic is good for me. The side effects scare me: nausea, vomiting, constipation, and exhaustion. Yikes! I really need the weight loss, though. I really want to try it. I'm curious if insurance will cover it."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I started on 0.25 mg for 4 weeks and then increased it to 5.0 mg in the fifth week as per my doctor's instructions. However, during this time, I began to experience persistent pain on my right side, which worsened to the point where I couldn't sleep on that side anymore. By the sixth week, I started vomiting. Concerned about these symptoms, I had some lab work done, which revealed that the enzymes in my pancreas were elevated at 163, whereas the normal range is 110 and below. After discontinuing the medication, within about a week, the pain subsided, and my enzyme levels returned to normal."

Semaglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have been taking it for over a month. No side effects for the first 2 weeks on the lower dose. Since I am using the higher dose now - I have had some very bad nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Also, lots of burping, and it smells terrible. When I have vomited - it is so much volume. More than any time in my life. It has reduced my appetite, but if I drink alcohol, it usually makes me physically sick."

Semaglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Started Wegovy in March 2022 with a goal of losing 50-75 pounds. I ended up losing a total of 85 pounds in about 11 months. I felt great upon taking the Wegovy. Only had mild headaches and mild stomach discomfort. I was not tired, I actually felt energized. However, by December, the nausea had reared its ugly head. I took Zofran, and it helped. I was able to stick it out with the nausea until February, at which time I stopped taking it. I could no longer live with the nausea. Since I stopped taking it, I have continued to suffer nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain. My doctor and I are still trying to find the source of this continuing issue. I love the weight loss, and I love Wegovy!"

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "It has helped me immensely! I was on 16 units of Novolog twice a day and 26 units of Levemir twice a day, and now only 10 units of Levemir a day. I lost 45 lbs, which has been amazing! But starting 2 weeks ago, I started getting really, really sick the day after the shot, flu-like symptoms, vomiting, and diarrhea at the same time for 12 days. As a diabetic, it's really bad when it lasts that long, my blood sugar was down to 30, and I couldn't eat or drink to get it back up. Glucose gel kept me alive! Finally, after 12 days, I thought I was through it and hadn't figured out that it was Ozempic, so I took my next shot. And within hours, back on the toilet and in the same boat, horrible! I have been on Ozempic for a couple of months before this reaction. It has so many good things, so I hope for you this doesn't happen, good luck!"

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I found that my sugar levels definitely saw improvement! 100% in target range! However, I suffered vomiting for about 48 hours after the first 3 doses. I’m hoping that it will subside with time, and I plan on discussing with my doctor next visit. I wasn’t able to keep water down, so dehydration is a concern."

Semaglutide for Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "I started Ozempic in January 2022. Began with the standard .25 for 4 weeks, then .50 for an additional 4. When I injected the 1 mg, I was sick constantly. Vomiting, fatigue, and horrible heartburn. I had to stop for several weeks as I was completely worn out. I started again with the .25 and am now on the .50, but I'm noticing I am much more hungry than I was the first time around. I was wondering if any of you have injected .75 and if you found it to be helpful? I am afraid to try the 1 mg again as sick as it made me."

Semaglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started Wegovy in December 2021 at 281 lbs, and as of May 2022, I am weighing in at 246 lbs (35 lbs lost). I am on the full maintenance dose at 2.4 mg. I didn't notice many symptoms early on; however, as I got to the 1.7 & 2.4 mg, my side effect symptoms greatly increased - including vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, and a nasty burnt popcorn taste in my mouth. This medication will definitely cause you to lose weight as it completely takes away your appetite, but the combination of side effects, mostly the vomiting, makes me question if I will stay on this medication much longer. For reference, I take my medication on Saturday evening and suffer the side effects until about Thursday morning. From Sun-Wed, I find myself in/out of the bathroom throwing up when I attempt to eat the most basic of foods. I used to have a large passion for food, but I can't imagine eating some of my favorite things while these side effects take over. I would recommend for those suffering to lose weight with caution."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I've been on this now for nearly 2 weeks. To help reduce blood glucose levels and boost my weight loss. I've lost 1 lb and have a loss of appetite, also nauseous most mornings if I don't eat after 30 mins of taking meds. Today I ate 2 biscuits with a cup of tea and vomited really bad, which I'm sure is related to this medication. As I feel absolutely fine now. Seems the side effects are the same as the majority here. I'll stick it out and increase the dose in 2 weeks."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "Week 13 using Ozempic. I am currently taking 1 mg weekly, it is week 5 on the full dose. I am thankful that it has helped get my blood sugars back to the proper range. Prior to taking it, my sugars had been out of control for about a year. I feel like a fog has been lifted, and I can actually do more than work or sleep. I do have to admit the GI issues and migraine headaches have been horrible, some weeks more than others. I also have lost about 20 pounds and am not swollen up with water retention. Thankfully, my doctor prescribed a strong anti-nausea pill, which helps with the vomiting. I am glad to have my life back, but hopefully, I can work harder to handle my diabetes naturally as soon as possible."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I started taking it in July 2021. I'm up to 0.05 mg. Like mostly everyone else, I suffered from bloating, especially feeling full, not being able to consume much food. If so, you want to vomit. Not too sure how much weight I've lost yet. I can say my clothes are loose. Others have noticed I've lost a lot of weight."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have been on this weekly injection for four months and initially felt rough-vomiting, loose bowel movement, abdominal pain, but this did settle. I have been able to reduce metformin dose, HbA1c is very good and have lost 15 kilos in weight. It definitely suppressed my appetite, so smaller portions and no snacking as I did not feel hungry. I am hoping the weight loss continues as my BMI is still over 30."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "Have been on Ozempic for 10 months. The first 3 months were very difficult with strong side effects. Mainly constant, but low level, nausea, occasional vomiting, and diarrhea (especially two days after the injection). However around month 3 the nausea and diarrhea subsided greatly and my appetite returned. I had lost weight very quickly (42 lbs in 3 months due to not really eating much). Had to take supplements for a while but am now eating well. The rapid weight loss led to telogen effluvium, a temporary hair loss condition. (I shed A LOT but never showed any baldness or anything). Currently, my weight is still down (I was taken off my blood pressure medication!), my blood counts are perfect, my hair is getting thick, and I eat normally. I now experience virtually no side effects. Really, really, glad I stuck out the side effects at the beginning."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "58 yo. Woman. Type 2 for 30 yrs. Morbidly obese most of adult life. At 50 years old, had RNY gastric bypass surgery, went from 315 lbs with A1c of 13.5 with meds to 115 lbs. It worked too well. Even so, diabetes wasn’t even close to being cured. A1c was 8.5 at best with Invokana & Metformin. I used every drug there is with little improvement. So, a year ago, started Ozempic .5. Nausea & vomiting for 2 weeks, but then it subsided. After 2 more weeks, went to 1 mg. I don’t get nauseous anymore, but my appetite is completely gone, which is good if you’re overweight, but I’m a bag of bones, so I have to graze on tiny amounts of food all day & night. Because of the weight loss surgery, I already got dumping & can’t eat fatty food or sugar, so it’s difficult, but it’s better than dying from diabetes. It all depends on the person, so try it & see if the side effects go away like they did with me. I’m going to get labs, and if they’re still good, I’m staying with it."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "Was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in March 2019. Doctor put me on Ozempic rather than insulin, although it's not recommended. He thought it was worth a try along with 500 mg metformin twice daily. The first 3 weeks of 0.25 mg Ozempic were just fine. Very minimal side effects - occasional diarrhea, some gas, and belching. Nothing I couldn't handle. The fourth week of 0.25 mg was worse. Constant diarrhea for four days, nausea, some vomiting. I went to a different doctor thinking I had a stomach virus, he prescribed me an anti-diarrheal, and I felt better. I took the Ozempic at 0.5 mg then, as prescribed. Two days later, nightmare. Diarrhea again, vomiting, nausea, and serious fatigue. I'm in the throes of it right now, and I'm going to be contacting my doctor to see what I can do to counteract this. Besides the side effects, though, it's working beautifully. My blood sugar is down from the high 300s to the low 100s in just a month."

Semaglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started Wegovy in October at the lowest possible dosage and worked up to 1.7 by February. I had no side effects and very slowly lost weight, which I was fine with. I lost 35 pounds in six months. However, oddly enough, after five weeks at 1.7 with no side effects, I became quite ill. I started having the sulfur belches, followed by vomiting and severe diarrhea. I went to urgent care. They said it was a normal response and to take anti-diarrhea meds. I did. It got worse, to the point of diarrhea every 15-20 minutes. After six days of this, I went to the emergency room. They admitted me. I spent nine days in the hospital with severe dehydration, which caused my kidneys and pancreas to start shutting down. Docs felt I had a separate bacterial bug not caused by my shots. I was finally able to go home. My doctor had me start back at a safer .25 dose. I did, but immediately got sick again. I think I need to stop these meds, sadly, as they did originally help me, but I can’t go on this way."
