Semaglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Started Wegovy in March 2022 with a goal of losing 50-75 pounds. I ended up losing a total of 85 pounds in about 11 months. I felt great upon taking the Wegovy. Only had mild headaches and mild stomach discomfort. I was not tired, I actually felt energized. However, by December, the nausea had reared its ugly head. I took Zofran, and it helped. I was able to stick it out with the nausea until February, at which time I stopped taking it. I could no longer live with the nausea. Since I stopped taking it, I have continued to suffer nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain. My doctor and I are still trying to find the source of this continuing issue. I love the weight loss, and I love Wegovy!"

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I have been on Ozempic for 3 weeks. Yes, it is making me lose weight, obviously because I'm so nauseated all the time that I can't eat. I have stomach cramps, constipation, headaches, body aches, and nausea so severe that sometimes I can't even lift my head up. I'm really trying to give it a chance since a once-a-week injection seems better than taking a bunch of pills. I just don't know how much longer I can suffer with the terrible nausea and stabbing stomach pains."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "Two days after the injection, I get a pretty bad headache, indigestion, and a bloated feeling that lasts the day. This week (6th shot) has been different. It’s the second week the dose was raised from .25 mg to .5 mg. I felt like I had to throw up. The indigestion, burping, constipation, sore muscles, aches, and heavy sweating all felt like I had a horrible flu. I stayed home from work. I went back to work today, when I normally get the headache, and had heavy sweating, burping, indigestion, cold clammy skin, bloating, diarrhea, and depression and anxiety (years since I had either one). Tonight I still have bloating, wrists and shoulders sore, and indigestion with burps. My neck is really stiff. The normal headache has started with a little dizziness. I am still debating what to do as this has been an effective medicine. My blood sugar has gone from 290 to 90 to 140 when I check it. I have lost weight as well."

Semaglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I am 58, have IBS-D, no gallbladder, GERD, and am 60 lbs overweight. This is my second attempt at taking Wegovy. The first attempt was disastrous! I didn't make it through the first week before I was hit with diarrhea, nausea, acid reflux, dizziness, cramps, and had headaches. I missed four days of work and went to ER twice. The doctor did tell me to stop taking this, but I honestly did not think it was the Wegovy (I had not done any research on side effects). Once I got back to my normal state of digestive issues, I became proactive. I started back on Wegovy (.25 lowest dose) 6 weeks ago, but now I take a dose of Pepto-Bismol daily (twice a day the day of and day after the shot) and I take an OTC daily antacid. I still get mild side effects (nausea, headache, and fatigue) the day after the shot or if I overeat. I have not lost any weight at this dose so I am going up to the .5 dose next week. As others have said - everyone will react to this med differently."

Semaglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "First dose 0.25mg, had slight stomach pain/discomfort. Later that same night, my appetite disappeared. Just seeing a fast-food commercial on TV made me feel nauseous. I thought if that's the worst of the side effects that affect me, then I'll be very happy with that. By the next day, stomach pain and nausea increased. By 4:00 am, BAM! Diarrhea, severe stomach pain, projectile vomiting, headache, chest pain, severe itching mainly on the palms of my hands and arms. I truly thought 'this must be what it feels like to be poisoned!' I was scared. It is now the next day and I feel fine. A little tired from lack of sleep from feeling so sick. I think I will do my second dose next week...but I'm quite nervous of a repeat of feeling like I was dying from the stomach pains and vomiting. Will I continue with this drug?...jury is still out! On the positive side, I've already lost 5 pounds; but of course, I can't & don't want to eat, too much nausea and vomiting."

For Type 2 Diabetes "The medication worked well. In the beginning, it definitely delivered great results. A1C was down, weight followed, however, the gallbladder problems began after about 9 months. Constipation, clay stool, nausea, headache, flu-like symptoms. I just stopped taking it. Because I have developed healthy eating habits, vegetarian, I am doing well. Just got diagnosed with Sjogren's disease, not sure if Ozempic had something to do with it?"

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Took one injection of 0.25 mg so far, and 5 days later I’m still extremely nauseous, have thrown up 4 times, and have a really bad headache. I can definitely say I’m eating very little, so I’ve certainly lost weight!"

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "Ozempic lowers my blood sugar. I have found in the 4 weeks I have been taking it, I have lost weight (not sure how much, but it's noticeable for the first time since I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes 6 months ago). I am struggling to decide if it's worth being sick 2 days a week. I have extreme nausea (like I have mild food poisoning), a terrible headache, and I'm exhausted. The rest of the week, I feel fine. It is the two days following the injection that I have these awful symptoms. The first three weeks I was at 0.25, I found by week 3 they were milder symptoms, but this week I have increased to 0.50, and I am extremely sick with nausea and headache. I've found the GI issues mild, but I am on other medication that constipates me. I feel this may have been worse otherwise. I am going to tough it out for the next few weeks until I get to 1, as I found a decrease in the nausea over the first three weeks until I increased the dosage. However, if this is a constant side effect, I will 100% be discontinuing this medication."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I started Ozempic injections 3 weeks ago (by the way, I live in the UK). I also take Metformin and Foxigra. I had a slight headache and nausea, which I seem to get a few days after the injection. I don't find I get any appetite decrease that much, and I've put on weight this week. But sticking with it, so we shall see."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "Insurance is Medicare Advantage AARP United Health. The 1st 3-month supply was $130. The 2nd 3-month supply was $450. I expect the medication will not be affordable for the future. There was no advantage in the first 3 months taking the 3 mg dosage. A1C is 7.4% from 7.6%. Now taking the 7 mg dosage; waiting for my next doctor evaluation on Feb. 26, 2025. I get frequent headaches, dizziness, upset stomach, bloated feeling, and sleepy/low energy levels. No weight loss."

Semaglutide "I lost 20# in 5 months over a year ago and gained it all back in 6 mos. The top side effects then were nausea, constipation, bloating, and big hair loss, strangely starting a month after discontinuation and lasting 5 mos. Much hair grew back. I started up again a week ago and more, this time unbearable side effects. Horrible headaches at the base of my skull, acid reflux that chokes me and burns my throat at night, flashes of light and wisps of wind in my face at night, nightmares, hair coming out in swaths, erratic high BP (I have high BP, but it was under control before O.), bad joint pain (hips especially), extreme urinary incontinence (swelling down there with pee dribbling), and extremely emotional (incessant crying) just 5 minutes after injection. Five minutes after the second shot (second week), all the above that had “slightly” eased up came back full force! Husband again losing weight with doable nausea and blah feeling. *I have a lot of side effects to most meds."

Semaglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "From the initial starting dose until I went up to 1 mg, the whole 6 months was a roller coaster of nausea, headaches, and uncontrollable vomiting. The nausea was always followed by throwing up 5-7 times per day. If I ate or drank anything with too much sugar (including fresh orange juice), then I would throw it up within 30 mins. The sulfate mouth smell, along with the vomiting, was difficult and embarrassing. Exhausted and tired feeling, along with feeling depressed and hating/disgusted by food, is how I felt. I did lose about 8 kgs before moving on to Saxenda. Get ready for Ozempic to destroy your life for a few months if you want to lose weight with it."

Semaglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "My experience with Wegovy has been a rollercoaster. In the first week, the 0.25 mg dose was great. In the second week, I started feeling the side effects of nausea, burping, gas, diarrhea, and bloating. I noticed that I did eat more. Make sure your portions are small and stick to fruit and vegetables. Soups and not greasy processed foods. You may feel sick and will take longer to digest. I am currently reconsidering if I should continue. I am not sure if I want to experience the side effects at a higher dose. I feel terrible all the time and have a headache. I feel exhausted all the time."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Three days ago, I took my third injection of 0.25 mg. I am so, so sick. I have been sick with nausea and burping since I took the first injection, but this week is the worst. Nausea, vomiting, dizziness, headaches. Today was so intensely bad I almost went to the ER. I’m trying to keep going as I desperately want to lose weight. I’m down 10 lbs in 17 days, but I’m so sick I can’t even eat healthy foods. I don’t know if I’ll be able to do the next injection, this has been so horrible. My doctor also prescribed Zofran for the nausea, but it’s not helping. Will the side effects ever stop, or should I just give up?"

Semaglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I am about 6 months in, and at 2.4 per week, I have lost 17 lbs. It does work to curb your appetite, but I always feel sick. I have noticed I have developed severe migraines after week two, but kept going. I am currently on migraine medication, Ajovy, and it is not helping. Sometimes, it comes with blurred vision, which gets a bit better once it gets closer to taking it again. I have gone to the ER three times over 6 months with severe headaches, but nothing helps. It has really impacted my way of life, and I do feel like a worse wife and mother because I am always sick and have a constant headache that never, ever goes away. I gave it a go, but at this point, the cons outweigh the pros for me. I did stop Wegovy two weeks ago and noticed an improvement in my headaches and my menstrual cycle. Headaches basically gone, why didn't I stop sooner?"

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I have been on Ozempic at the lowest dose for 4 weeks. The first week was brutal, with stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, and headache, however, I injected the second week in my thigh and the side effects waned. It appears to be lowering and leveling my A1C. I'm nervous about increasing my dose next week. I can manage a week of discomfort as long as it is short-term. My body does seem to be getting used to it. I'm willing to work with it as long-term benefits for me outweigh the short-term discomfort. I may change my mind as time goes on, as these horror stories have me concerned. So strange that there is such a wide range of patient experiences...both good and bad."

Semaglutide for Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "I started this medication last week on Tuesday. The first two days, I had a headache and a flu-like feeling. Throughout the week, I felt nausea almost daily, bouts of diarrhea, and bloated. Today is my second dose of 0.25, and I lost 4 pounds in 7 days (probably the fact that anytime I eat, my next bowel movement is diarrhea). I have felt a general unwellness for the last 7 days and am anxious about how this week will go, as I haven't been able to accomplish what I normally am able to. If this week gets worse and I start vomiting and being really unwell, then I will stop taking this medication. I definitely don't have the same appetite I did before, and my junk food craving has basically been vanquished, however. If the symptoms don't peter out or they get worse, I don't see the point, as it affects my son's life as well when I can't be the best mom I can be."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I have been taking Rybelsus for about 3 months. I have had nausea and weight loss. My blood glucose level is much better. It's even sometimes low. I now wear a continuous glucose monitor. I have random nausea after taking the medication in the mornings and can experience nausea during the day if I eat too much or greasy food. I think this is what causes some of the weight loss. You just don't want to eat if you have nausea. I do occasionally get a headache and constipation if I don't drink lots of water. The drug makes me not want to eat, but it also makes me not want to drink, so I have to force myself to drink water, or I get dehydrated and constipated. This drug makes me forget to eat or drink. It's strange. The good side effect is weight loss. Bad is nausea. My insurance does cover it."
