Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "Was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in March 2019. Doctor put me on Ozempic rather than insulin, although it's not recommended. He thought it was worth a try along with 500 mg metformin twice daily. The first 3 weeks of 0.25 mg Ozempic were just fine. Very minimal side effects - occasional diarrhea, some gas, and belching. Nothing I couldn't handle. The fourth week of 0.25 mg was worse. Constant diarrhea for four days, nausea, some vomiting. I went to a different doctor thinking I had a stomach virus, he prescribed me an anti-diarrheal, and I felt better. I took the Ozempic at 0.5 mg then, as prescribed. Two days later, nightmare. Diarrhea again, vomiting, nausea, and serious fatigue. I'm in the throes of it right now, and I'm going to be contacting my doctor to see what I can do to counteract this. Besides the side effects, though, it's working beautifully. My blood sugar is down from the high 300s to the low 100s in just a month."

For Type 2 Diabetes "In a drug study for weight loss. I am losing about 1-2 pounds a week consistently for the past 5 months (20 pounds so far). Side effects are worst 1-2 days after the weekly injection. Fatigue, nausea, gas... You have to eat plenty of fiber to not be constipated. I have also experienced vivid dreams off and on since starting the drug. I am torn between tolerating the side effects and losing the weight. I will try to stay in the study until I have reached an acceptable weight for my size and age. I would highly suggest it for the obese. Good luck!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "has improved my diabetic lab work to normal (remission). I have been able to lower my blood pressure medication in half and also my cholesterol medication. I have been able to completely stop my metformin. In total, I have lost 40 pounds. But the first 6 months were awful - all of the GI symptoms all the time. Along with hair loss, fatigue, dehydration. Most of these symptoms have significantly decreased as I am 9 months out now. Now I have developed a tremor in my hands. It is not going away and is getting worse. Terrified I will gain back the weight if I stop. I have frozen my dose (advice of my doctor) even though it was not the maximum dose recommended. I had hoped to take semaglutide for at least 2 years but am not sure I can tolerate these symptoms."

Semaglutide for Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "2-3 days per week I suffer from poor sleep and fatigue accordingly. Trying to get to sleep is bad, with body noises making it impossible. Also, constant burping with gas buildup, farting at night is awful, watery eyes. The other 4 days is fine. The days are not in a row and often vary each week. My rating of the medicine would vary on different days, bad days, bad rating."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I’m 63 F with T2 diabetes, and I started on Oz mid-May 2024. Symptoms: nausea, fatigue, GERD, sulfur burps, stomach cramping from severe constipation, constipation, feeling like I need to vomit, ringing in my ears has increased significantly, loss of appetite, reduction of inflammation, occasional migraines, feeling “off” most days, bouts of dizziness, and feeling faint, but blood sugar and blood pressure are normal, improved blood sugar readings, weight loss of 13 lbs. There are some perks: rheumatoid and osteoarthritis inflammation has lessened, though I still feel pain daily, it’s more tolerable. I take no painkillers but will take CBD as needed. Loss of appetite has led to a loss of 13 lbs so far, blood sugar improved so I’m confident that my A1C has improved also. I struggle with what to do: stay on for the inflammatory reductions, weight loss, and blood sugar improvement benefits, or quit because I feel sick most days, so I have no real pleasure in life anymore. No, I’m not depressed."

Semaglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I am 58, have IBS-D, no gallbladder, GERD, and am 60 lbs overweight. This is my second attempt at taking Wegovy. The first attempt was disastrous! I didn't make it through the first week before I was hit with diarrhea, nausea, acid reflux, dizziness, cramps, and had headaches. I missed four days of work and went to ER twice. The doctor did tell me to stop taking this, but I honestly did not think it was the Wegovy (I had not done any research on side effects). Once I got back to my normal state of digestive issues, I became proactive. I started back on Wegovy (.25 lowest dose) 6 weeks ago, but now I take a dose of Pepto-Bismol daily (twice a day the day of and day after the shot) and I take an OTC daily antacid. I still get mild side effects (nausea, headache, and fatigue) the day after the shot or if I overeat. I have not lost any weight at this dose so I am going up to the .5 dose next week. As others have said - everyone will react to this med differently."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I am only on week 3 and have not seen any weight loss or appetite control, but I’ve read the first 4 weeks dosage is to acclimate your body. Today was the first time I’ve felt any nausea, and I did seem to be a bit fatigued, which I’ve combated by trying to get 7-9 hours of sleep nightly. I am using the injections."

Semaglutide "I underwent lap band surgery several years ago and am currently taking Ozempic. If given the option, I recommend choosing Ozempic over lap band surgery due to their similar side effects. However, if it is possible to manage diabetes and weight with an alternative medication, I suggest doing so. It's important to administer the injection in the thigh, as other injection sites tend to cause worse side effects. The side effects of Ozempic are persistent and severe, and unfortunately, they are unpredictable. One week you may experience minimal side effects, while the next week, at the same dosage, the side effects may be so severe that you will need to miss work. Ozempic causes extreme fatigue, unlike any other fatigue I have experienced. My eyes struggle to stay open. Additionally, I have suffered from intense constipation for two weeks with minimal relief from laxatives, followed by a few days of uncontrollable diarrhea and acid reflux. I no longer enjoy food; it no longer tastes good, and fruit or tea is no longer refreshing or soothing. I believe there must be a balance between enjoying food and weight loss."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "Major nausea ebbs and flows. Extremely bad fatigue off and on. More along the lines of exhaustion. No weight loss. I’m on a pretty high dose, 1.5, and am only about 15 lbs overweight. Diabetes type 2 most of my life, so this is a great drug. Hopefully, the next generation of these drugs will have fewer side effects for some of us. The nausea and fatigue are pretty overwhelming some days. A1c has improved, so I will stay on until something better comes along."

Semaglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Wegovy does work, problem is... I feel like dirt all day long. I'm fatigued, nauseous, and even the smell of food makes me vomit. My heart races, and I'm quite dizzy. I lost 55 lbs. Do I look good? Yes. Do I feel good? No. I'm down to 153 lbs now. It's time to stop this medication."

Semaglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Took my injection .25 mg Friday afternoon and had a very hard time eating dinner. By noon Saturday, I was violently ill with diarrhea, vomiting, and a fever. The symptoms subsided by Sunday, and I was left very achy and fatigued. On the upside, I guess I did go from 335 lbs to 318 lbs over the course of the weekend. This medication is not for the faint of heart. It is very depressing to see a full-course meal in front of you and only be able to eat a few bites. If you are serious about losing weight, this medication will get you there, but I wonder if it’ll work or if the side effects will at least subside with longer-term use. The nausea is horrible, but you do also have some beautiful dreams while taking it."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I was part of a drug study to lose weight. I lost 20 pounds in 6 months, the drug reduced my appetite significantly! Now, the weight loss has stabilized, I have not lost or gained in 5 weeks. But the side effects are getting too bothersome to continue. I have fatigue and am sick to my stomach for 2 days after the weekly injections. Lately, I have been having vivid dreams that are disturbing and wake me up. I also notice I am irritable and not as happy-go-lucky as my usual self. These side effects are no longer acceptable to me, I want my sleep, good mood, and 7 days a week of feeling good! I am grateful for the weight loss, but I am not comfortable continuing this drug with these side effects."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I have been on Ozempic for 6 months. My A1C was 10, it is now 6.9. I thought it would be lower after 6 months. I have lost 45 lbs. because it killed my appetite, so some days I don’t eat at all. Side effects: diarrhea after eating, nausea, fatigue, just feeling blah."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "Insurance is Medicare Advantage AARP United Health. The 1st 3-month supply was $130. The 2nd 3-month supply was $450. I expect the medication will not be affordable for the future. There was no advantage in the first 3 months taking the 3 mg dosage. A1C is 7.4% from 7.6%. Now taking the 7 mg dosage; waiting for my next doctor evaluation on Feb. 26, 2025. I get frequent headaches, dizziness, upset stomach, bloated feeling, and sleepy/low energy levels. No weight loss."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "My doctor switched my medication from automatic insulin to Ozempic, taken once a week, along with daily long-acting insulin injections. I lost my appetite, my mouth feels tasteless, and no food appeals to me, so I have to force myself to eat. My blood sugar levels have been unpredictable, fluctuating between highs of 250 and lows of 60. One minute it’s very low, and after eating, it shoots up, then drops again. I decided to stop the long-acting insulin last Sunday, at the start of the fourth week when my Ozempic dosage was increased from 0.25 to 0.5. Since then, things have slightly improved—my blood sugar isn’t running too low anymore, but it is still high. During this time, I’ve also developed severe heartburn, sleeplessness (only a few hours of sleep at night), and sluggishness, among other symptoms. I contacted my doctor yesterday."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "Have been on Ozempic for about 2-3 months at 0.25. Experienced/experiencing: nausea, heartburn, fatigue, light-headedness, constipation. Nausea has calmed down but still occurs. Heartburn has developed over the last month and is definitely not subsiding. Seems I am always tired. Sometimes getting up, I become light-headed and off balance. Constipation is quite prevalent even with eating high fiber fruit and vegetables, and I am doing my best to drink plenty of water, starting with hot lemon water and honey every morning. I do not know if I would recommend this drug or not. Everyone is different. Thank you."

Semaglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Last night, I had my first injection of 1 mg strength (week 3). I have gastrointestinal issues of bloating, eructation, diarrhea, and abdominal pain, LUQ 3-4/10 pain. It feels like a stomach virus, chills, but afebrile. Fatigue and anorexia. Only lost 5 lbs, but think it’s due to significantly reduced food intake."

Semaglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "From the initial starting dose until I went up to 1 mg, the whole 6 months was a roller coaster of nausea, headaches, and uncontrollable vomiting. The nausea was always followed by throwing up 5-7 times per day. If I ate or drank anything with too much sugar (including fresh orange juice), then I would throw it up within 30 mins. The sulfate mouth smell, along with the vomiting, was difficult and embarrassing. Exhausted and tired feeling, along with feeling depressed and hating/disgusted by food, is how I felt. I did lose about 8 kgs before moving on to Saxenda. Get ready for Ozempic to destroy your life for a few months if you want to lose weight with it."
