For Hyperhidrosis "I'm so grateful I read about Oxybutynin for hyperhidrosis on drugs.com. Three weeks ago, it has already saved me so much anxiety, discomfort, and embarrassment. I can't believe I can feel confident and comfortable in public now. THANK YOU! My crazy sweating began two years ago from opiate replacement therapy (an extremely common side effect of methadone and Suboxone). Even in winter, just grocery shopping left me covered in sweat, but since day two of Oxybutynin, NOT ONE BEAD OF SWEAT. I feel so lucky! I haven't tried exercising on it yet, but I'll update when I do. :) In addition to methadone 50mg, I take Lexapro, Norimin, Ritalin, and Seroquel 25mg, which would increase my side effects so far of dry mouth and three headaches, but small sacrifice!"

For Urinary Frequency "Well, this is my 4th night taking this medicine. I decided to look up the side effects of it, and I found this page. I must say I'm scared straight. I think I've experienced dry mouth, but that's because I want to cut my water intake after a certain time at night. I think one time I did have difficulty starting a stream of urine, and my bladder felt really full a few times. Oh, and I go to the bathroom every 2 1/2 to 3 hours at night, so that's 3 times at night when in bed by 9 pm. Moving forward."

Oxybutynin for Urinary Frequency "I am 72 and been on it for over a year. The only problem is it tends to not be as effective after a while. Took 5 mg twice a day. Now going to try 5 mg once a day. Side effects have been minimal. Some dry mouth and constipation. Drinking more water helps both."

For Urinary Frequency "I've tried the others that dry your eyes and mouth, blur your vision, and even paralyze your muscles so that you can't urinate without concentrating on it. This one is the winner. It cuts incontinence and overactive bladder with no side effects. I love it."

For Urinary Frequency "I took Oxybutynin 5 mg for 6 weeks for my overactive bladder. While it curbed that in great fashion, it created side effects that got worse and worse. I experienced drowsiness, dizziness, headaches, dry mouth, and blurred vision. I stopped taking this medication. One last note, if you take a depression med (in my case, Amitriptyline), those meds can actually increase these side effects, take this medicine with caution!"

For Urinary Frequency "I love this oxybutynin stuff. For a couple of months, all I did was live in fear of wetting myself. I wore thick pads all the time because my bladder would all of a sudden just purge. After 4 days on this, I got control of my bladder again. I have used it for 6 weeks now at 5 mg, twice a day. So much happier and able to leave the house again. If you need to, you can increase up to a maximum of 20 mg a day. I still wear a pad, but a much smaller one and rarely leak. My mouth gets horribly dry, but I keep a drink handy and take a sip when needed. Happy now!"

For Hyperhidrosis "I'm a 53-year-old woman. Started taking two doses of 5 mg of oxybutynin about 2 months ago. I had relief starting on day one. I've had hyperhidrosis for the last 10-15 years. Horrible head, face, neck, and back. It was debilitating. My only issue is the dry mouth. I have an autoimmune disease that also causes dry mouth, and my gums are suffering horribly. I've tried the mouthwashes for dry mouth. The mints. Drinking water with lemon, none of it works. The products for it make my mouth feel slimy, and skin peels away with the slime. Anyone else have this problem? Mind you, I drink at least a gallon of fluid a day, if not more. Going to ask my doc at the next visit if I can drop down to 5 mg once a day to see if it helps. If anyone has had experience with this and found a solution, please share. I can't go back to the debilitating sweating."

For Hyperhidrosis "Diagnosed with hyperhidrosis years ago, which only affects my face/head. If you have the condition, I don't need to explain how badly this affects your social life, especially in the summertime. I have tried Botox, aluminum chloride, sweat block wipes, you name it, I have tried, and nothing worked. I started taking 2 x 5 mg oxybutynin per day around 3 months ago and can honestly say it 100% works. I do still sweat but just like a regular person now instead of feeling like a tap that won't turn off. Some people say it gives you a dry mouth, which it does, but is very mild for me, and most of the time, I don't notice. If you suffer from this condition, give it a try, it will literally change your life for the better."

For Urinary Frequency "Mary4589 -- along with your dry mouth, did you have any dryness of skin at the fingers and palms of your hands -- I mean severe wrinkling of fingers and palms like you have been in the tub for a week? I was 2 weeks on this med, and it's been 4 months off and still have extreme dry mouth. I have cut off all other meds and vitamins to figure out what is causing this dry mouth and hands, but after reading the reviews, it could be this medication has permanently cut off our saliva system. For all others who are thinking about taking this med - think about how this will not only affect your bladder problem but everything to do with water in your system."

Oxybutynin for Urinary Incontinence "It worked well for about 2 years, but the dry mouth was really bad. When it stopped, my mouth was so raw I couldn’t eat anything with vinegar or peppery things. I was sort of glad it stopped working, but from then on, not much else has worked. I tried almost everything: Detrol, Tolterodine, Solifenacin, Mybertiq, and Botox, and now have an implant that helps a lot, but I still have urges and need to wear pads. I’m trying Gemtesa, which is helping with frequency. The worst thing about Ditropan was severe dry mouth and blurry vision, but at least it worked well for a time."

For Urinary Frequency "Prescribed oxybutynin ER 10 mg once a day for OAB. Female, 23 years old. I've been taking it for a little over two weeks with no real improvement. The only thing I can notice is perhaps I am able to empty my bladder a little easier, but not much. Still have urgency, spasms, and frequent urination. Made my mouth and lips very, very, very dry. Made me thirsty but didn't help me at all. I'm sorry, but I don't recommend it. Vesicare was the only thing I think will actually help me, too bad it costs $200, and my insurance refuses to pay for it."

For Urinary Frequency "I took Oxybutynin ER 10 mg for almost 5 years before it stopped working over the course of one week. It was my absolute savior while it worked. I have never leaked but had the maddening sensation that I urgently needed to pee, CONSTANTLY, even if I just peed a second ago. I had dry mouth and some fatigue at first, but the side effects dissipated over time. Try this med!"

Oxybutynin for Urinary Frequency "I have been using the patches for about eight months. I still feel like my bladder is full even after going to the toilet. I wake through the night about twice a night, but the funny thing is I can get through six hours of voluntary work before needing to go to the bathroom as soon as I get home, which at times I am ready to burst. I feel the patch is working fifty percent of the time for me. I am having trouble trying to get four days out of a patch, as they get very brittle and bubble up. I try not to let them get wet in the shower, but clothing lifts it too. I guess they need to work on the kind of plaster to use that stays put on the skin. Also, I do get black marks from the adhesive and lint from cloth, but I use eucalyptus oil and tissue to remove it, and then shower, wipe the area dry, and reapply the bandage. I give the product a fifty percent out of a hundred percent but wish the constant urge and fullness would ease. Also, dry mouth and sinus problems seem to be more frequent, but I guess it's better than nothing."

For Urinary Frequency "I have multiple sclerosis, and one of the most annoying symptoms is urinary issues. I have to go a lot, don't have a lot of time to actually get to the bathroom, and I wake up 4-5 times per night to go. I have tried a few other medicines for this, but Oxybutynin ER has been the only one that made a difference. Now I only get up 1-2 times per night, and I can go out without fear of finding a bathroom in time. The only side effect I've had is severe dry mouth, but it does make me drink more water, so not a total negative."

For Urinary Incontinence "I was prescribed Oxybutynin 5 mg and had improvement right away, but still had issues when I sneezed or coughed and had a little nausea. My last annual, I mentioned it, and my doctor doubled the dosage to 10 mg and had great improvement, but major dry mouth. I had to back down to 5 mg and still have a dry mouth issue after a week. I am going to try Myrbetriq, but just found out it costs me $100, so will not use it again."

For Urinary Frequency "This is only my third day on oxybutynin, and I’m ready to stop taking it. Day 1, I felt loopy and could not concentrate, with dry mouth and eyes. Day 2 and 3 have me feeling (in addition to day 1 symptoms) very anxious and short of breath, and it seems to be making my hair/scalp greasy! The anxiety and the way it makes my hair feel after just three days might be worse than going to the bathroom every 30-45 mins. So torn because it does seem to have alleviated some of the urges to go to the bathroom after just 3 days. 18-19 were my average daily, and today was only 10-12!"

For Urinary Frequency "Love it! Immediate relief! I take 10 mg of oxybutynin every morning, and it gets me through the day. I've been on this for approx a year and don't feel I have any side effects. I should ask my husband if he notices any differences in me... more forgetful, etc. Maybe some dry mouth, but nothing I can't live with. Sips of water help that. I feel like I have my life again :) I have noticed that I now can't go through the night without an accident, so I need to ask my Dr. if I can take some in the late afternoon to get me through the night. Overall... love it!!"

For Urinary Incontinence "I take 15 ml of Oxybutynin, one tablet per day. This medication works great on my bladder condition, but for me, it has a horrible side effect. My throat is so very, very dry. I must always have a water bottle with me so I can lubricate my throat. I am researching another medication without that side effect."

For Hyperhidrosis "This drug is pretty amazing. I've had hyperhidrosis of the palms, soles, and underarms since hitting puberty. I was skeptical since I've previously tried Botox, iontophoresis, and Drysol with limited results. However, after three days of taking oxybutynin (5 mg 3x a day), I was 95% sweat-free. My only negative things to say about the drug are about side effects. I have gotten fairly dizzy/spaced out a few times, and I experience dry mouth pretty often. However, that's not bad in comparison to the acne I've gotten. I used to get pimples around once a month, however, now I have ones lasting for"

For Urinary Frequency "I have been on Oxybutynin for a little over a month. It has helped reduce the urgency and frequency of urination. I started with a 5 mg extended-release tablet and went to 10 mg to see if it was more effective. I haven't been on the higher dose long enough to know if it increases the effectiveness or not. All I know is that there has been an improvement since I started taking it, but I still have times when the urgency is strong, just not as strong. After reading the comments here, I must say that I am fortunate that the only side effect I have had is mild dry mouth, and that is only when I first wake up in the morning."

Oxybutynin for Dysuria "When my sister was almost 7 years old, she was prescribed a 14-day supply of the liquid version of Ditropan. She was complaining about pain during urination, and after a urine test at the doctor's, it was decided that Ditropan would be the best treatment. The liquid version of Ditropan she had was raspberry flavored. When on the medication, caution needs to be used during exercise, hot weather, and other activities. Ditropan may also cause nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, dry mouth, and blurred vision."

For Urinary Frequency "I'm an octogenarian and have had no urination problems until the beginning of 2021. By July, I was getting up once or twice a night and urinating a total of 8 times in 24 hours. I was put on a 5 mg oxybutynin pill twice a day in mid-July, which seemed to exacerbate the problem to 2 to 3 urinations at night and a total of 10 to 12 times in 24 hours. The doc increased the dosage to 10 mg twice a day and told me to call him to see how it goes. It seemed counterintuitive to me, but I decided to try it. I see no improvement, but today I got a scare when I was having a sandwich and apple for lunch and had difficulty swallowing and digesting. I chewed well, but the food, especially the apple, seems to be clogged up in my thorax area, as well as in the pit of my stomach area. It took about half an hour before I felt that my food was digested. I not only got dry mouth, but it seemed like my entire system was dry, as I kept sipping water at lunch. I was greatly concerned that I would choke."

For Hyperhidrosis "I'm 24, I've had hyperhidrosis since I was 12, I have palmar hyperhidrosis. I started taking oxybutynin tablets 3 days ago (5 mg twice a day, total 10 mg a day). I haven't noticed any change in my sweating for the first two days, I felt like I sweat maybe even more, and all I got were the side effects (dry mouth, throat, and dizziness). Today (the third day), I started seeing some results, my sweating was decreased about 50%. I still sweat though, but I'm looking forward to better results in the upcoming days."

For Hyperhidrosis "I've been on methadone for approx 10 years, and the sweating is intolerable. I get weird looks from others, thinking I was sick and contagious, and find it so hard to make friends because of it. I was started on probanthine, which didn't help, then I went on oxybutynin. At first, they were a godsend. Except for a dry mouth, it was good. Then, as time went by, I started to have bladder problems, severe stomach aches, and I was miserable again. Now I'm going to try them again because of the sweating, but at a reduced dose. I know they work, but there is still a fine line between relief from sweating and unwanted side effects from the sweating cure. I will have to tweak the dosage so I can get a happy medium, I suppose."
