For Hyperhidrosis "I've suffered from sweaty palms and feet since childhood, as it runs in the family. I'm now 43 years old and just found out about oxybutynin 3 weeks ago. I immediately got my doctor to write me up a prescription. 3 days after taking 5 mg twice a day, my hands were about 90% dry and feet about 75%. 3 weeks on this medication and dry all day long!!!!! I do experience dry mouth, eye, and nose, however, I would gladly trade those side effects to be confident and dry. Hope this helps!"

Oxybutynin "I have been suffering from hypersalivation in excess that could talk clearly and swallowing again and again. Many doctors could not find the proper reason for hypersalivation. I got all blood tests like CBC, CRP, ESR, creatinine, SGOT, SGPT, even ultrasound of salivary glands, which all are normal. Thyroid reports are also normal. But hypersalivation is there. Now my doctor has suggested folic acid, B12, and oxybutynin 20 mg in the day. Started today, slightly decreased in hypersalivation. If the dry mouth is its side effect, it's okay because I myself want my mouth dry because I have hypersalivation. Hope for the best."

For Hyperhidrosis "I have Sjögren's syndrome for almost 7 years, and the sweating comes along with that. All the symptoms are there: dry mouth, eyes, the sweating started in the last 2 years as soon as the humidity and heat start up until the start of late fall. It has gotten worse where I can't stand around the stove to cook. Don't eat too much hot food in those months. I've learned so much on the computer, and I found 1 medication that helps pretty much. It is a towelette that you dab on your body, it's called SweatBlock, and it's pretty good. Also, my rheumatologist put me on oxybutynin. So far, so good. Don't sweat at night, and thankful for that. Good luck to all, can't wait for winter here in N.C."

For Urinary Frequency "The side effects are horrible! For me, it causes really bad dizziness and blurred vision, and my eyes don't focus like they should. It also causes me to feel spaced out, and it affects my cognitive function. I've had really bad short-term memory with this drug, and the dry eyes and dry mouth are horrible. It has mostly helped with my overactive bladder, but I don't think it's worth the side effects."

For Urinary Frequency "Worked really well to keep my urination down from 20 times a day to maybe 6, depending, of course, on the amount of liquid I consume. I was also prescribed this to help with my out-of-control sweating, and it has helped immensely with this problem also. I do experience severe dry mouth, but I keep gum or a drink handy always. To me, the dry mouth is a worthwhile trade-off for the benefits I get."

For Urinary Frequency "I have been taking this medication for one month, and while it works great for my overactive bladder problem, the side effects are so great I have stopped taking it as of yesterday. I can deal with the dry mouth and sinus problems, but in the 3rd week, I developed severe dizziness/vertigo, and that I can't deal with. I will try something else now."

For Urinary Frequency "I experienced every side effect from oxybutynin that there is. I had to stop taking it after 8 days. I started having involuntary rapid eye movement, massive burning in my chest, dry eyes and throat, dry mouth, bad taste in my mouth, palpitations, and anxiety. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. It never worked for the problem it was prescribed for, it only added extra problems."

For Urinary Frequency "I have been taking 5 mg oxybutynin twice a day for about a month now for my overactive bladder. I’m 55. I have sporadic stomach pain, bloating, dry mouth, dry eyes. I’m concerned about the stomach pain and wonder if I should stop taking the medicine. It has helped me, going from 6 trips to the bathroom to about 3. Any feedback about my stomach pain is appreciated."

Oxybutynin for Prostatitis "I have taken this drug off and on for 5 years now. I use it for chronic pelvic pain syndrome. It works the best out of anything I have tried thus far. It takes most of my pain away, stops the frequent urination, but it does have side effects. When I first started taking it, my only side effect was dry mouth, which went away after two months. After a year, I built up a tolerance to the drug, and it has never worked the same since. The longest I can take it now is 1-2 weeks before it wears off. I usually take it when my symptoms are so bad that I must take medicine. Generally, I take it for a week straight, then go off of it. I get withdrawal-like symptoms for a day, and usually, my pain goes away for a week to two months, and then I repeat this cycle."

For Urinary Incontinence "This medication is wonderful! I've been wearing Depends for months because I just couldn't hold it in. I'm recently diagnosed diabetic, and that was part of the problem, but I was still peeing all the time, then I was put on this. I can't tell you how much this has helped. I do have some dry mouth, but it hasn't really been an issue. I'm wearing real underwear for the first time in months, and it's so freeing! I highly recommend talking to your doctor about this medication."

For Hyperhidrosis "This medication has helped me so much. Over the last few years, my sweating became really excessive on my face and neck. My neck just gushed sweat. All areas of my life were affected, and I was humiliated on a daily basis. I heard about an oral medication for hyperhidrosis, so I went online to do some research, and I learned about oxybutynin, then went to the doctor who gave me a prescription for 5 mg 2x daily. I think it took 2 or 3 days to see a difference, and it was a big difference. I was literally overjoyed. I don't mind the side effects (dry mouth and drowsiness), but for me, the oxybutynin does not take the sweating completely away. I'm now on 10 mg 2x daily. I also notice it stops working about halfway through my day."

Oxybutynin for Urinary Frequency "I got a very dry mouth from oxybutynin, my gums were terrible, and sexual dysfunction on 5 mg. It did help with nighttime nocturia. My side effects were okay on 2.5 mg, but it doesn't help the bladder as much."

For Hyperhidrosis "I have suffered with hyperhidrosis for approximately 6 years now. I'm a woman, 66 years old. Had various medications from GP, which all worked briefly. I decided to see a consultant privately as I was fed up with the constant embarrassment of wet hair and clothing. He immediately prescribed oxybutynin. I am amazed at how well it has worked. The only side effect is a dry mouth, which is greatly improved by using an OTC spray. I have been taking the medication for 6 weeks and have now halved the dose without any decrease in efficacy. This drug has certainly outperformed anything prescribed by my doctor."

Oxybutynin for Urinary Frequency "Took for 2 weeks... discontinued because my throat and sinuses were so dry I was having trouble breathing. Plus, it didn't help with frequency... in fact, it seemed to lessen the time between urges. It has been over a week, and I'm just starting to feel normal with my breathing!"

For Hyperhidrosis "I've had hyperhidrosis since my early teens. All of my body is affected, but my feet are the worst. In the past, I had to change shoes every 2-3 months because they started to smell from my feet. I was ashamed when shaking hands because mine were constantly wet. I have tried many things, but nothing worked. Oxybutynin changed my life. I only take one tablet at night, as a higher dose makes me drowsy and my mouth gets too dry. This is enough to stop my body from sweating; however, it is not enough for my feet, but this is a compromise. I feel like I was given a new life. Shame GPS don't prescribe it as a proper hyperhidrosis treatment."

For Urinary Incontinence "I have urinary incontinence and urinary frequency problems. I have been taking a low dose of oxybutynin for about a week (3x a day-but I usually forget the 3rd dose), and I have complete control, less frequent, and I have noticed that when I go to the bathroom, I urinate for about 15 seconds or longer as opposed to about 3-4 seconds before taking this medicine. I have experienced a dry mouth, but I did read that dry mouth may go away in a couple of weeks. So, I hope it does, but I am going to just keep gum with me for a while."

Oxybutynin for Urinary Incontinence "It didn't work for my incontinence problem (which occurred after laser TURP), and I think it made it worse. It caused me to have a dry mouth, which caused me to drink more, which caused more incontinence. I told the doctor that I wasn't having bladder spasms, but he ignored what I said and said to give it a try and come back in 30 days."

Oxybutynin for Urinary Frequency "Works very well for urgency, etc. An obscure side effect is diminished ability to achieve an erection (and I believe diminished sex drive as well). In addition, I developed dry mouth (no big deal). I tried the generic for Trospium extended release, which did not have the same issues but probably was less effective for bladder control. PS My bladder situation was mild to moderate."

For Urinary Frequency "I was recently diagnosed with OAB a few weeks ago after suffering for the past three months. I was prescribed so many medications leading up to my diagnosis, and they all made it worse. My urologist prescribed oxybutynin 5mg twice a day. I’m on day 6, and my side effects are extreme fatigue, extreme dry eyes to the point where no eye drops help me, constipation, and extreme dry mouth. Yes, it improved my bladder symptoms, but personally, I don’t think it’s worth it."

For Hyperhidrosis "I was prescribed oxybutynin yesterday. The quality of my life has greatly improved, no more sweating, and I can focus on my job and talk to other people without any worries. Though my mouth is just a bit dry, not a big effect. At least I have felt normal for once in my life, just like everybody else. Hope this great trend continues."

For Urinary Incontinence "Oxybutynin not only dried my mouth out, it also dried out my throat, causing me to cough until my lungs hurt. Liquid and sometimes food was always 'going down the wrong pipe,' causing me to choke once again. And I was only taking it once a day. Would not recommend."

For Urinary Frequency "I am 61 years old, and I started taking 5 mg Oxybutynin ER about two months ago. I made the decision yesterday to stop taking it. I seem to have more urgency to go now than I did before, and I have severe, I mean severe, dry mouth and dry eyes. It’s not worth it to me to suffer with that! I was told all of those symptoms would go away. It has made my life miserable, so I stopped taking it yesterday."

For Hyperhidrosis "I've been suffering from sweaty palms and feet since I was really little, but now at 15, it has really started to impact my life. As a child, I thought it was normal to have clammy hands and feet, but as I hit puberty, it got very excessive and my armpits started to sweat heavily as well. It never really bothered me until high school, as people would make remarks which hurt me as I couldn't help it. It was embarrassing and made me constantly self-conscious. I started taking Lyrinel 1 week ago and I sweat like a normal person! My hands and feet are dry, unless I'm clenching them for a long time, they'll get a bit clammy. My pits barely sweat. This stuff is a lifesaver, although it makes me drowsy sometimes and gives me a dry throat."

For Hyperhidrosis "I asked my doctor to prescribe this pill on Tuesday, and by Wednesday, I could tell the difference. I typically sweat in my hands, feet, groin area, and armpits. Normally, once I am overheated, there is no stopping the sweat. Yesterday, I noticed I went outside for a bit in 90+ degrees, and I started to sweat, but it only lasted for a few minutes, and once I went inside the building, I was dry after a few minutes. Normally, just being outside for 10 minutes could trigger a sweat attack for hours! I will post an update in a few weeks. Thank you all for your feedback because it is saving my life! Oh, and I have noticed dry mouth, but I typically drink 90 oz of water a day, so it won't be a huge problem, I hope."
