For Endometriosis "This drug ruined 11 years of my life and continues to do so. I was given no add-back therapy, nor told of any side effects, only the leaflet to read at home AFTER I'd already been given a 3-month Lupron shot and told it would help my excruciating endometriosis pain. After reading the leaflet in its entirety, I immediately called my OB/GYN and asked about add-back, calcium, and lots more questions. I was scared of all side effects listed on the leaflet and wished I had known about them before (I'd have refused) or that I could UNDO the shot! He told me the worst that may happen are a few hot flashes. My pain worsened, I got osteoporosis, lost several teeth, and couldn't walk unassisted for 6 months. THIS IS TRULY A HORRIBLE DRUG!!!"

For Endometriosis "Lupron is a horrible medication. Many medical 'professionals' are not forthcoming with their patients about all the side effects, or the long-term side effects that continue well after Lupron is stopped. They also don't tell you it can kill you or disable your life. This medication sent my life into a tailspin (of course I was lied to-being told all the positive and common things you will find on any site about Lupron). I will never return back to normal, just like so many others. I am now having to go for disability thanks to Lupron and the negligence of the doctor who gave it to me. Do in-depth research! Know your facts! I do not recommend this medication. Not only does it damage your body in many ways, but it's put me into a living nightmare!"

For Uterine Fibroids "I got the Lupron 3-month shot in January. I’ve had so far now the hot flashes, some abdominal pain, depression, and now these headaches I keep getting. The bleeding stopped, which is the good part. But the headaches have got to go. I don’t like to have to keep taking medication. Those are my only issues."

For Prostate Cancer "My husband cannot comment, as he died 5 years ago. He was diagnosed with stage 3 prostate cancer. He also had radiation treatments. He suffered from fatigue, depression, and insomnia. Radiation caused damage to the urethra. His prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test was low while on Lupron Depot, but he was miserable and committed suicide. It would have been nice to have an alternative treatment. He didn’t want to live that way."

For Endometriosis "I have been on Lupron for about a year. Last year, I had 6 monthly injections. The pain that I was experiencing before taking Lupron was horrible. Within 3 weeks of being on Lupron, I was pain-free with very minimal side effects. One of them was weight gain. For me, the weight gain was way better than the pain that I was experiencing before! I went off the shot for about 6 months, and the pain returned. The second time around, I received a 3-month injection. The pain got worse the first couple of weeks, then it was gone again. Now I feel like I can live a normal, pain-free life again. Still very minimal side effects. This drug has been a lifesaver for me! I read so many horrible reviews of this drug, but honestly, it's been a huge relief for me!!! I now can function again!"

For Prostate Cancer "I'm 57 and diagnosed in April with a tumor confined to one lobe only, a Gleason of 7 (3+4), and a PSA of 9.22. I received a 4-month (30 mg) injection on May 19 and started radiation on June 21. As of this writing, I'm into my 8th week on this drug. So far, my side effects have been minimal, with very mild hot flashes (about 2-3 times a day but very subtle), loss of sex drive, and some ED at this point. I get about 6-7 hours of decent sleep a night, haven't had to get up to pee in the middle of the night much, no vision issues, confusion, brain fog issues, etc., as others describe, but I'm not on long-term therapy either. The doctor said the 'kick-in' with side effects is typically at the 3-week point, so, so far, I'm doing pretty well. The doctor says I should regain most, if not all, of my ED function when the drug wears off after the 4-month time frame. A definitive change in my diet and exercise has also helped a great deal with limiting my side effects. Hope this helps anyone in similar circumstances."

For Endometriosis "I've been suffering with very painful menstruation and chronic pelvic spasms for over 20 years. The first time I did Lupron, it was a godsend, finally, I didn't have to plan my life and work around my period. Now I'm on a second round. I'm using the 3-month injection, and I love life. Yes, I have hot flashes, and I can be a bit emotional at times, but I'm not in pain, and that is what I was going for. I'm 42 now, and I'm hoping I can stay on this medication until I'm 50. I would really hate to go back to having to deal with this again."

For Endometriosis "I received my first Lupron shot a couple of weeks ago. In the past two weeks, I have noticed that my pain isn't as bad or as often as it was before the shot. The downside is the mood swings and hot flashes. I thought I had a few weeks before I started experiencing the side effects, but I guess not. I know that the next six months are going to be rough, but the way I see it... I've been suffering for five years already, what is six months of hell to help make it all go away? In my opinion, the Lupron shot is worth it."

For Endometriosis "I had 2 injections of this ruinous, dangerous drug - Lupron! 1. NEVER use if have PMDD or PMS! Thyroid disease. Or serious mental issues after childbirth, aka manic depression. My gracious doctor bypassed all the contraindications!! I have spent the past 26 years in an unimaginable state of severe fear! I was diagnosed with hypothalamus, adrenal, and digestive exhaustion. I had to have food supplements to survive! This drug will ruin your MIND! Get a hysterectomy instead!!! It can't cure endometriosis!!!! Get on bioidentical hormones afterwards! You'll be feeling BETTER WITHOUT a uterus, and be able to go on! PLEASE, PLEASE do NOT let ANYONE talk you into using this brain-altering destroyer! You will NEVER have your full sanity!"

For Endometriosis "Only a few weeks in, and I already hate this. I’m 19 and was diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis. My doctor said the Lupron shot is my only option in regard to treatment, before a hysterectomy. I’ve been on birth control for 5 years prior for intense pain, but it didn’t help at all. Two weeks in, my bones hurt, I’m constantly hot and nauseous. Depression, I feel, is on its way. I can’t stop crying, and I feel very sad about life. Which is unlike me, I’m a very positive person. My pain is also more intense than before. I feel very helpless because I don’t want to have a hysterectomy at 19, but I hate this medication already. I don’t know what else to do."

For Endometriosis "Took the 3-month Lupron Depot shot just one time. It's now 3 months since I had the shot. My reasons for taking this poison are due to extreme PMDD condition, which I also have endo, but the PMDD outweighs! So all my symptoms since the very first week of the injection have been severe hot flashes, night sweats, more fatigue, whole body aches. Just in the last month, my hair has been falling out! Very dry, thin now - I'm extremely moodier than before. This was the worst thing I've done, and I'm super mad at all these doctors who really have no clue what they're doing to people. We are all their guinea pigs. I went 4 days ago to the doctor, and he put me on Primaire (hormone replacement). I'm waiting in misery to see if this added med helps. So far, the new med has had me in tears every day for no reason, a massive migraine, and overall losing my mind! Never ever take Lupron! Just do an internet search on Lupron victims."

For Endometriosis "The side effects have lasted years, and Lupron itself caused depression. And I gained over 40 pounds rapidly within three months after use. It gave me seizures, and I had blackouts on top of the usual side effects. I was hospitalized for three days because of the seizures. Not worth it! I'm still plagued by the ungodly side effects every single day! Worst decision I ever made. Never again!"

For Endometriosis "My doctor has me on the six-month regimen. I am on my second month and have had to go to the ER five times since getting this injection. I don't recommend this to anyone, I feel ill all the time. Very lethargic, very short of breath, heaviness in the chest, pains in my back, and just overall horrible. I had my right ovary and fallopian tube removed due to severe endometriosis, and the doctor recommended these injections and said I would have no problem, and nobody that she has treated has had any severe side effects, so I guess I get them all. I've missed a lot of work, almost losing my job because I just can't function on a day-to-day basis because of the medication. For any of you considering taking this medication, please don't, it is nothing but toxic."

For Uterine Fibroids "This drug was the worst form of treatment for my multiple symptoms - daytime hot flashes and steady period was not worth it. I was administered this drug in 2008, and since then, my life has never been the same. Forgetfulness covered in laughter by co-workers; poor cognitive skills, no sex drive, and no desire to be touched. Headaches, blurred vision; quick weight gain, and most of all, I quit my job, and I'm still trying to figure out why when I was financially stable. Who was I? Something in my brain is out of sync. I was not a person that took medicines. The male doctor pushed this on me, and I was a patient with that organization for over 10 years, and I was the only 32 years old and super active!"

For Endometriosis "I want to share my experience with this drug because I truly believe it's of utter importance. My first BC was Depo Provera. I bled right through this, and yes, it's common for the first year, also lighter periods. But mine never went away, then brown bleeding. I was switched to the implant, for other reasons, and the same problem still occurred. Then I was put on BC pills to control the bleeding process. All in all, I was backing up my uterine wall with more blood every time I had a period. Depo Lupron was injected on Jan 18. I bled out all my old blood in a week. I have not had a period or brown bleeding since. My last shot was given on March 18. So far, 0 breakthrough bleeding. I love Depo Lupron."

For Endometriosis "2/9/12 I had a full hysterectomy (uterus and cervix removed) due to fibroids. My doctor found endometriosis everywhere. My doctor put me on Lupron about a month after the surgery and I had my second shot on 4/20/12. I got hot flashes right after the first shot, but they are really not that bad. Night sweats are more uncomfortable and my joints and muscles are achy and stiff. However, my mood is pretty terrible. I have no patience for anything and feel pretty grumpy most of the time. My pain is lessening but still present. That said, if I can be rid of most of the pain after the 6-month regimen, it will have been worth it!"

For Uterine Fibroids "My rating is based solely on symptoms, I am unsure about the effectiveness, being that I haven't checked my fibroid size yet to see if it has suppressed. To furthermore explain, I was diagnosed with a large fibroid, about 10 cm (outside my uterus), through a CT scan. I'm 28, no children, but hoping to conceive in my early 30s, therefore, I chose to go on with the Lupron shot (3.75) to hopefully shrink the fibroid for surgery early next year. After reading the side effects, I was terrified and put this off for a year and a half. I have had one symptom, and that is I do notice that my face is a bit clammy/dry. Just wishing I never put it off due to fear. I just finished my first month. Will update how month 2 went in January!"

"Despite all the negative reviews for Lupron, this drug has been great for me. I got the shot 3 weeks ago as part of my treatment plan for breast cancer. Lupron stopped my heavy cycles and put me into menopause. Being in menopause means that I can take a more effective drug for preventing the recurrence of breast cancer. The shot was painless. I have occasional joint soreness (quickly relieved by Tylenol), but nothing that's unexpected for someone who's 48! Hot flashes have been minimal. Even though I have been laid up with a ruptured Achilles tendon, my weight gain has been minimal. If you are prescribed this drug, please don't be afraid."

For Endometriosis "I was actually surprised to learn I had stage 4 endometriosis, along with 2 endometriomas and a dermoid cyst. I had always had a poochy gut and severe menstrual cramps since I was 16. I am 27 now and have been pain-free for the last 5 months on Lupron Depot. I had a laparoscopic cystectomy and a laparotomy this year. I did suffer side effects of hot flashes and mood swings, but was prescribed 1 mg estrogen daily, and I'm pretty much normal! In about 6 weeks, I will begin trying to conceive my first child! The Lupron and my doctor have been a blessing!"

For Uterine Fibroids "I wanted to share my story also for people who are considering trying this out. I had big fibroids and was scheduled for a laparoscopic hysterectomy. My doc put me on Lupron for 4 months before the hysterectomy. She felt it would help me in hopefully shrinking my fibroids down to help with surgery. She wanted me to take the 3-month dose. I am very scared of side effects and really don't like taking anything. I did my research and decided I only felt comfortable taking the once-a-month lower dose Lupron shot. I was afraid to even try that. I was on Lupron for 4 months and I did bleed for the first month on it, and then my bleeding and periods stopped after the first month. My only side effect was hot flashes! But as time went by, they seemed to get a little better and they calmed down some. It wasn't too bad, but definitely uncomfortable at times. That's all, though! So happy that I moved past my fear and tried it. It helped stop my periods and I was able to get the laparoscopic hysterectomy done."

For Uterine Fibroids "This is user Jennybean from the review below (August 12, 2020). I could not log in with that username, so here's my update: I got my first injection on 08/14/20. Ultimately, I am getting the 3 month 11.25 MG Kit. So I assume I will get 2 more shots. I got the shot in my butt cheek and it did not hurt or flare up. The side effects for me so far: a couple of short-lived hot flashes here and there. Fatigue and my boobs are sore (like before a period and wearing a bra sucks as a result). These effects are medium-mild and are not overwhelming. I'd say the fatigue and breast tenderness are the most bothersome. I expect I will be adding to my list of side effects as we go on. The last thing I'll add is that my biggest fibroid is 7 cm and my uterus never shrunk after I had my preemie son at 28 weeks pregnant. So basically, I still look six months pregnant 6 years later. That's why I'm on this medicine. I need to shrink my uterus and fibroid in order to have a less invasive partial hysterectomy (leaving my ovaries)."

For Endometriosis "At first, I really thought the Lupron treatments were worth it, but now that I have made a trip to the Emergency Room. Well, let's just say if you are going to go the route of Lupron, you better be single. This drug takes its toll on the family, not just you. Everyone goes through the mood swings, headaches, blood pressure scares, joint pain, feeling like you are going to pass out. So, no taking your kids to school or sporting events. No joining carpools. Don't get too far away from the restroom, urinating more often is not unusual. The things that are the easiest to handle are the hot flashes, night sweats, and chills."

For Uterine Fibroids "I’ve been on Lupron Depot for 4 months for heavy bleeding from a fibroid and extreme pain due to endometriosis. It has stopped my uterine heavy bleeding, and I have increased energy from not being anemic any longer. However, I have experienced hair loss, generalized whole body muscle pain and stiffness, as well as hot flashes, extreme jaw tension, teeth grinding at night, and occasional insomnia."

For Endometriosis "I will say I virtually have no periods and have had maybe 3 endo pain days that don’t come close to what the pain used to be. NOW the side effects are horrid! BUT I’ll take the side effects over the pain in periods. My bones ache, not unbearable, but uncomfortable. The night sweats, bad but bearable. I’m tired lots, but I can function with some caffeinated tea & B12 for energy. Mood swings and little depression/anxiety. It’s not intense depression for me, like nothing that makes me want to harm myself, it’s just more of a dark cloud following you around. So if you have mental “instability” before taking the drugs, make sure you talk to your doctor. I did not lose hair, and my hair did NOT thin/fall out. I did not gain weight. The side effects still make the medicine worth taking because I have no pain or real periods. I get the shot every 3 months (I’m on 9 months) and take a pill that comes in the shot package. The pill is taken daily, shot is every 3 months for me. Good luck!"

For Endometriosis "I got my first dose a month ago. The main side effects I am experiencing are hot flashes, much decreased appetite (not complaining there), and fatigue. I will take all those any day rather than deal with endometriosis pain. So I am definitely pleased with the Lupron treatment. It's nice to not be in so much pain. I would call off work and stay in bed and cry. So big difference!"
