Cyclobenzaprine for Muscle Spasm "This medicine sucks. I took it before bedtime as I was prescribed and didn't really notice any effects. After two or three days like that, I began taking the medicine at about 7 pm so that I could be awake to notice if the medication worked or not. At 11 pm, I still felt nothing. I didn't feel any relief from my muscles, nor was I the least bit drowsy. I told my doctor my concerns about it not working, and her response was, 'It works long-term. You'll see the results after two weeks of taking the medicine.' Well, two weeks have come, and I still feel the same. I'm still sore, tense, and in pain."

For Chronic Myofascial Pain "I was prescribed cyclobenzaprine for the first time 12 years ago after a neck injury. Made me really drowsy and helped me sleep for hours and hours. I was 20 back then, so I could afford it on days I didn't have college. Now 32 with 2 small kids and some nerve damage and degenerative arthritis on one shoulder, my doctor prescribed it again. Decided to give it another chance. I take a 5mg tab, which helps me relax my mind and face muscles (for some reason, I do not relax while I sleep). I wake up a little drowsy, but nothing a cup of coffee won't fix. I take it right before bed and it works around 15-20 minutes after taking. Hope this helps anyone out there."

Cyclobenzaprine for Sciatica "I have been taking Flexeril 10mg in combination with Celebrex 200mg. I take both PRN and they work great. I started in 2005 on both meds from an accident at work. Now I also have Fibromyalgia, RA, and Osteoarthritis. I continue to take Flexeril at night and it works great for me. I use a heated mattress pad and Flexeril to sleep comfortably, and I wake up with less stiffness and not as sore."

Cyclobenzaprine for Muscle Spasm "I pulled/strained a muscle in my upper back last week, and the pain was so bad, I could hardly breathe. My doctor prescribed Flexeril, which I took as soon as possible with a little food - around 2:00 PM. About an hour later, I was out COLD - asleep for the rest of the day, that night, and until late the next morning. Good thing I took a couple of days off from work because I felt drowsy and weird for at least 24 hours after I took it. There's no way I could have driven - much less accomplished anything at work. Having said all this, it really did kill the pain. It's as if I never injured my back. But at what cost? I think I'll take 800 mg of ibuprofen instead if I ever have a similar injury."

Cyclobenzaprine for Fibromyalgia "It was very helpful for the spasms in my neck, shoulders, back, and hips. It took a while before the muscles released. I weaned myself off the medicine, and within 2 weeks, I was experiencing severe pain again. I'm back on now. I take 10 mg at night. It does make me tired in the morning, but it's worth it. I would recommend this for back pain and spasms. It helps to take it consistently."

Cyclobenzaprine for Muscle Spasm "Have had lower back pain from an injury 5 years ago picking up an incredibly heavy cabinet full of books. Yeah, I know, super intelligent! Have tried Xanax, ibuprofen 800, and Advil, and nothing takes the pain away like Flexeril 10mg consistently right before bed! Wonder drug for me! Best part of all, it's non-addicting. Doctor said it's a torn muscle on the left side of my spine, also shot me up with a cortisone shot that hurt like hell for days! I have been on it for a week and it's night and day for me, hope it keeps doing what it's doing. Good luck to everyone!"

Cyclobenzaprine for Muscle Spasm "My doctor just prescribed 10mg (cyclobenzaprine) 2X daily, due to disc protrusion in my C6-7 and muscle spasms in my neck and shoulders. I have been taking it for a couple of days now, and it works great for the pain, however, it does make me extremely drowsy! The night before last, I took one at bedtime, and it knocked me out cold. I slept great, but it made me very fatigued the next day. Luckily, it was my day off, so I spent it in bed. My spasms came back in the early afternoon, so I took another one. Again, out cold! I slept all day and decided not to take another one last night because I was still very drowsy. I will reduce my dosage to 5mg around 6 p.m. and see how that works. Definitely not taking it during the day unless in severe pain!"

Cyclobenzaprine for Muscle Spasm "I was okay on a Monday and could hardly get out of bed due to pain on Tuesday. I was somewhat shocked. Three days later, I went to Urgent Care and was prescribed Flexeril. It has been a lifesaver. I am shocked it has helped my arthritis in my knee. I can finally sleep."

For Fibromyalgia "I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia 7 years ago. I've taken this at night for probably 6 years now. It makes all the difference for me. It allowed me to start working out 5 years ago. I went from walking in a pool to running now, and I've even done several 5ks. A couple years ago I had another neurological pain condition develop that required me to take muscle relaxers during the day as well too. So I was put on a lighter weight (baclofen) muscle relaxer for during the day and to replace this at night. Within a few days of going off of this, I was so stiff I could barely walk. I ended up back on this for my evening dose, and within a couple days I was back to normal activity. So for me at least, this has worked better than anything."

For Migraine "I get a couple of migraines a month. Not sure if they are aggravated by hormones, stress, or sinus pressure, probably a combination. Regardless, I always have throbbing pain on one side of my head along with tight muscles through the neck and shoulder. Cyclobenzaprine is all that works. About 30 minutes after taking it, I can feel the tension in my head and eyes lift. What a lifesaver after years of pain. I always back it up with an ibuprofen too. The ibuprofen alone barely touches it."

For Sciatica "I take this at bedtime for piriformis syndrome (which caused compression of the sciatic nerve) and associated sciatica problems. The cyclobenzaprine works great. No grogginess the next day and no trouble waking to my alarm. The dry mouth is annoying but tolerable. It has been a godsend as I can exercise once again without pain in my butt all the time!"

For Fibromyalgia "Started taking cyclobenzaprine at a dose of 5 mg about 3 weeks ago for fibro. Huge improvement. I'm back to playing pool and on the treadmill every 2nd day instead of being laid up and taking it easy for 2-3 days or longer. Showed the physical activity data from my phone to my doctor. He was sold on it. I am too. I've had 3 heart attacks (familial cholesterolemia) genetics. I need to be more active. Yeah, I'm pleased with the reduction in my pain 30-50%. Still there but way more manageable, and my mental health has definitely swung to a more happier outlook."

Cyclobenzaprine for Fibromyalgia "Non-Restorative Sleep Disorder - After months of agony, the rheumatologist tried Flexeril on a 10 mg, once a day (before bed) regimen. Within a week, I felt better. Within two weeks, the symptoms were gone. Symptoms included: extreme fatigue, pain & swelling in both knees, pain & swelling in one wrist to the extent that the wrist was becoming deformed in appearance."

Cyclobenzaprine for Muscle Spasm "I got this prescribed after a week of constant back pain (I twisted my back). 10 mg 3 times daily. I took one when I got home from the pharmacy (about 12 pm) and proceeded to be out for about 16 hours. Five days later, I am still having sleeping issues, both getting to sleep and waking up at a reasonable time. When I took the one pill, the back pain was gone, but I can't afford to be sleeping excessively. I'll keep it on hand for when pains are keeping me awake and I can afford to get 16+ hours of sleep, but it's not recommended if you have to function on a daily routine."

Cyclobenzaprine for Muscle Spasm "I was involved in a rear-end collision, experienced extreme neck, shoulder, and arm pain. Ibuprofen 600 mg and 10 mg Flexeril for my neck sprain, then told to stretch the muscles to keep them from locking up. I took my first dose last night, I don't even remember going to sleep, but I didn't have the pain anymore. I woke up today feeling like I have a hangover, dizziness, and my mouth was extremely dry. So, I tried to avoid taking the meds this morning for a couple of hours. Now, it is midday and the pain hasn't stopped, so I took another pill. In my opinion, Flexeril is a good pill for relaxing your muscles, especially if you're going to physical therapy. I don't recommend driving or doing anything while on this medication."

Cyclobenzaprine for Muscle Spasm "I went to my doctor because I knew I had pulled a back muscle. I tend to have issues anyway with the piriformis muscle, and that aggravates the sciatica. Lower back pain and glutes tend to be an issue for me. I was getting moderate painful back spasms that felt like random poking with a sharp nail. He prescribed 10 mg three times a day for 10 days. After the second day of following the instructions, I was sleeping 14 hours a day. I was a zombie, I couldn't function, and I felt depressed. Why I still rate it at an 8/10 is because it did what it was supposed to. I stopped and only take it once at night around bedtime. If you're skeptical at first about taking the med, make sure you have the next day off. Don't drive on this."

Cyclobenzaprine for Muscle Spasm "I was prescribed Flexeril 10 mg twice a day as needed after experiencing lower back pain resulting from epidurals (I did not take this while I was pregnant or nursing). My discs would slip out of place and pinch the nerve(s) in my back, causing me great pain. I would get adjusted to get the bone alignment right, but the swelling and pain were still there. Flexeril worked great for me. It is great to take at night; it helps you sleep. But I have also taken it during the day if the pain was bad enough. I will drink a 5-hour energy or something equivalent to help me stay awake and function at work. I definitely wouldn't take this if I were driving. This medication, in combination with an 800 mg Ibuprofen, is wonderful."

Cyclobenzaprine for Muscle Spasm "I use Flexeril for muscle spasms that I have in my left arm and shoulder. One of the side effects of this medication is that it causes severe drowsiness. Once I take the medication, I must go to bed immediately. I am able to sleep through the night where before the spasms would wake me throughout the night. When I first began to take the medication, I found that I was very tired when I awoke in the morning. To combat this, I go to bed about two hours earlier. This is appearing to work out well. Now I awake rested and free of tightness, aches, and pains."

Cyclobenzaprine for Muscle Spasm "I have been in hospital for 3 weeks now. It started out as obstructive jaundice, which they put in a stent and started me on Vicodin. The Vicodin worked great for my abdominal pain, but did nothing for the spasms I started getting in my back after being in the hospital bed for over 2 weeks. Finally, after 2 days of intensely painful and nearly uncontrollable back spasms, they put me on Flexeril. I'm finally able to move around and breathe normally without triggering more spasms. Thank God for Flexeril. The pain is nearly gone. It didn't shut it out entirely, but it made it bearable enough that I'm finally able to move, instead of having to stay perfectly still and take shallow breaths to avoid triggering another one."

For Fibromyalgia "I have been on this medication off and on for several years and have had fibromyalgia for over 20 years. Cyclobenzaprine, along with Lyrica, have allowed me to live a somewhat normal life. I get a far more restful sleep and am able to sleep through the night instead of waking every hour or so. My previous doctor retired, and it took me almost 2 years to find another. For 18 of those months, I was without medications (walk-in clinics would not prescribe these medications), my quality of life diminished, and I came very close to losing my job. Once I found a new doctor and I was back on my medications, within a few weeks, I was able to function again. For me, cyclobenzaprine and Lyrica have been the perfect combo to help manage my FM."

Cyclobenzaprine for Muscle Spasm "I had a breast augmentation and was required to take 10 mg 3x a day for the first few days after surgery. Never felt any pain. On my bottle, it warns of extreme drowsiness - don't know why this is such a shock to some. I ended up only taking 6 total and have some left over. It's been 3 years since my surgery, but I'm so glad I have some on hand, as I threw out my shoulder. Yes, it will either knock you out, or keep you up. You'll feel hungover either way. But it does what it's supposed to do; if you're in enough pain, it's worth the relief."

Cyclobenzaprine for Sciatica "This was the first time I had ever taken cyclobenzaprine. I took one (1) 10mg tablet on a Thursday evening around 6:30 pm, and all day the next day I felt slight confusion, loss of concentration, and it felt like my head was in a fog. It did not help with pain but allowed me to get some much-needed sleep."

Cyclobenzaprine for Muscle Spasm "I was diagnosed with spondylolisthesis (L3-4 & L4-5) 30 years ago in my 20s. Pain was so bad I would not be able to stand, and I would drop to the floor. I had frequent pain with 5-6 extreme episodes of my back severely 'going out' for days in the next 20 years and was eventually given Flexeril. A physical therapist taught me to stretch my hamstrings and glutes when tight, as they are connected to and pull on my lower back muscles, which in turn pulls and pinches nerves in my L-vertebrae. I can usually avoid my back 'going out' by stretching + OTC pain relief, but I take 1 Flexeril at night for a day or 2 if really bad, and it relaxes my muscles enough to unpinch the nerves and relieve the severe pain. Because of my condition, I still have low back pain after vacuuming, gardening, hiking long distances, etc., but my back hasn't 'gone out' in 10 years. I do wake up groggy in the morning after taking Flexeril, so if I have to go to work the next day, I may only take half a pill."

Cyclobenzaprine for Muscle Spasm "I've been having bad headaches thought to be from a spasming muscle and a pinched nerve in my neck. ER doc gave me this to see if it helps. It took 7 hours before I felt any effect at all, and then I ended up having a bad reaction to it. Gave me heart palpitations and restless legs. I also think it made me stop breathing for a few seconds at a time. I was lying there trying to sleep (because this stuff knocked me for a loop), but I couldn't because I kept feeling like I couldn't breathe. But I was too out of it to understand why. I only knew that my breath would stop for a few seconds, and then I'd come fully awake gasping for breath. Luckily, when the medication wore off a few hours later, all these effects went with it, but I won't be taking it again."

Cyclobenzaprine for Muscle Spasm "I was prescribed 10 mg Flexeril last week as I couldn’t turn my head right or left. I also have flaring bursitis. I was told to use this at nighttime to help me sleep. It did nothing at all. I had to take another one a few hours later. Same thing the next night. I didn’t take it for 2 nights, then took one: I didn’t notice anything at all. Today I noticed I’m extra cranky and irritated - it was extremely hard to focus on a task and get things done. Nothing got accomplished today and now I won’t sleep. I do not recommend."
