Cyclobenzaprine for Migraine "I was first prescribed Flexeril in 1994 and have been in love with it ever since. I suffer from recurring migraines and bad sinus headaches. My doctor at the time tried many different remedies, but the combination of 10 mg of Flexeril along with 500 mg of Naproxen has been a '100%' effective result since I first took it. I only take it when I am at home, though, because the Flexeril makes me very sleepy. FYI: body size doesn't matter to this little pill as I'm 6'4" and 230 lbs!"

Cyclobenzaprine for Muscle Spasm "Stay away from this garbage. I was stupid enough to try it for 3 days, 10 mg before bedtime. All those days, I was like a zombie. Dry mouth. Crazy dreams. Constant nausea. Stomach stabbing pain. No energy at all. Sleepy during the day and crazy at night. I don't know who's writing positive reviews, maybe pharma people, lol. Do your research. Stay away from this drug!"

For Temporomandibular Joint Disorder "It has helped me so much. I wake up with locked jaw, and the nightguard doesn't do anything for me. It does make me sleepy, so I usually only take one at night when my jaw starts to hurt. Usually, after 3 nights of taking it, my pain and the locked jaw go away for months. No side effects. My TMJ is horrible, this has been the only relief I've had."

Cyclobenzaprine for Sciatica "Brand Name works great. Does the job and not even noticeable to myself that I've taken it. It will make me sleepy once I lay down, but fully functional on this medication until then. I've taken this drug since 1992. Unfortunately, can NOT find this medicine in Brand Name."

For Muscle Spasm "This stuff doesn't work for me, it just doesn't. I've had joint disease in my neck since I was 18. I'm always locking up. Flexeril just doesn't work for me. It never really has. It used to make me sleepy, but now it doesn't even do that. I get such bad spasms, the only relief I've ever gotten was the one month in my life my doctor prescribed me Soma. That was after I had surgery. Soma worked so much better than anything else I had ever tried. It felt amazing to move my body freely again. I just used it at night, I would stretch and go to bed. After a month, my doctor said he wouldn't prescribe it to me anymore and went back to Flexeril. It obviously didn't work, and I'm locked up again with no relief in sight. I just wish something worked. I feel hopeless."

For Temporomandibular Joint Disorder "It's not a miracle cure, but it definitely helps. First time I was prescribed it, my jaw had been locked for a little over three weeks. Needless to say, I was pretty desperate to have any kind of fix. After yet another failed appointment with the TMJ specialists, I went to my primary doctor hoping that she had been able to find something new. This time, she prescribed cyclobenzaprine. No joke, four hours later I could open my jaw. Works like a charm. The pain goes away with it too (no more tension). Only downside is it makes me sleepy and a little loopy. No driving on this stuff (for me anyway)."

Cyclobenzaprine for Migraine "I have used Flexeril for back pain but took one the other night because I had a migraine and couldn't sleep. I've never had relief from any migraine, so I was amazed when, after about 2 1/2 hours, I got out of bed and felt OK to move around. After another hour or two, I was feeling drowsy, so I ended up going to bed, but I was happy to discover that Flexeril helped my migraine. It does make me VERY sleepy, so I only take it when I don't have much to do the next day. I usually feel lethargic the day after."

For Muscle Spasm "I have the onset of degenerative disc disease, scoliosis, arthritis in my hips, and low back muscle spasms that act up all the time and intensify when I exercise. As a result, I don't exercise, fearing the pain. I tried this medicine about 5 years ago, and I didn't notice any changes. For the past 2 years, I have been seeing a chiropractor for my back, and I asked my doctor to prescribe this medicine again, and WOW is all I can say. I can exercise rigorously for 45 minutes without feeling like I need to be put in traction the next morning. I take 1 tablet every 12 hours on days I exercise, and I take 1 before I go to bed on my rest days. I feel like a new woman. This medicine works well in combination with chiropractic care. I haven't been sleepy either."

Cyclobenzaprine for Muscle Spasm "So I recently slept wrong and thought I had a stiff neck that it would go away. I was wrong. Three days later, it got worse and worse that I couldn't move my head down or to the right or upward. I was prescribed 10 mg twice a day, but I just took it once a day with naproxen, an anti-inflammatory. Plus, I rubbed Vicks on the area, which my Puerto Rican mother swears works wonders, lol. Yes, it makes you super sleepy, but it was a great sleep, no complaints. And in 24 hours and 48 hours later, I can do my PT exercises without pain, and I feel great about 70% improvement. I still have to continue to stretch and massage the area. This is helping. Everyone responds differently, though."

For Migraine "My neurologist told me to try this after I had a 20-day straight tension/migraine attack that my usual abortive medications (Ulbrevy and Maxalt) didn't touch before I went to the ER (again!). 1x 10mg pill, and within 1 hr, I had almost zero pain and nausea! The first time I took it, I did get sleepy, but given I hadn't slept well in 2 weeks, I wasn't surprised. Since then, I've taken it 2x for a severe migraine with neck pain and sledgehammer throbbing in the back of my head (8/10 pain scale), and within 1-2 hrs, I was back to 2/10. I found if I take it with a cup of coffee or espresso, I have very little sedative effects and can function normally."

Cyclobenzaprine for Muscle Spasm "Amrix is the best. I have taken many muscle relaxers over the years, and they all make me sleepy, which I despise. I take Amrix after dinner, and I sleep comfortably and wake refreshed and able to make it through the day with only Aleve or ibuprofen. I am so grateful for Amrix."

For Muscle Spasm "Dr. prescribed 5 mg of Flexeril for my TMJ, and it worked wonders for me. It completely took the pain away, and I was not drowsy, sleepy, or anything like that. I don't think I've ever taken something that has actually worked for what it was prescribed for. AMEN!"

For Muscle Spasm "I was prescribed the 10 mg tablet and made me completely useless. I was so groggy and sleepy all I wanted to do was sleep. I had my Dr. reduce to 5 mg. Still groggy, sleepy. I took one last night because my neck was stiff and my back hurting, and I hadn't taken one in a while. I slept OK, but had difficulty getting up. Once the initial rush of work was over at 10, all I wanted to do was sleep. I went online to see if there were similar experiences, and it appears that in general, this is what to expect from this narcotic. Mild headaches accompany the sleepiness and lack of focus. So does dry mouth. Now I'm just waiting for it to wear off so I can be back to normal..."

For Muscle Spasm "I've been on 5 mg of Flexeril for about a year and a half. I take it only when needed, but I can rarely take it because it makes me sleepy. If I take it late at night, I have a hard time waking up the next morning. I've found if I take it by 7 pm, it's not so bad waking up the next day. I have severe bladder spasms, and Flexeril has helped (when I can take it)."

For Muscle Spasm "I was prescribed to take Flexeril 5 mg three times daily, but I only took one a day because of school and work. When I did take the medication, it helped relax me, and my sleep was the best I've had in a while. Unfortunately, I must not have slept all the medication off because I felt the need to keep sleeping. So besides feeling super sleepy, this medication did work for me, and I give it 7/10 :)"

Cyclobenzaprine for Muscle Spasm "Amrix made me sleepy. And then for a week after 1 pill, I was so irritable it was like psycho PMS, and I hated everyone and everything. That stuff is toxic, and I'll never take another one! Avoid it! Oh, and my neck still hurt. Useless."

For Fibromyalgia "I have used Flexeril for about 9 years now. It works great to ease my muscle pain and spasms. A lot of people have trouble with it making them sleepy, but I have never had that trouble. I can take it during the day with no drowsiness at all, which is really nice. However, it would be nice if it made me a little sleepy on the nights I am having trouble. It is a great medication, and I am very grateful for it."

For Sciatica "I notice no pain relief from this drug. It makes me extremely sleepy throughout the day and causes my mouth to stay dry. At least I get a good night's sleep, but I wake up feeling groggy and never get going after that. Sometimes causes me to feel confused, but maybe that is the groggy effect returning. I'm male, 42 years old, and in good health overall."

For Muscle Spasm "I was surprised to read how sleepy this made everyone. I have been on 10 mg nightly for 5 days now and have been sleeping normally. I am taking it for a moderate muscle injury to the middle of my back. I wish it would have a drowsy effect on me because while it seems to loosen up my back a little, it does nothing for the pain. Overall, seems to help a good deal though."

"I have proctalgia fugax. Only the people who have this disorder can understand the excruciating pain involved with an episode. It’s literally a ‘pain in the a$$’ and can leave otherwise strong, uncomplaining adults crying on the floor like a 3-year-old. I have even passed out from the pain before. There is no clear consensus about what causes this anal pain. Some think spasms of the pelvic floor, some think nerve disorders, etc. In my case, I go with the third hypothesis that involves nerve damage in the anal/rectal area. These horrific pains didn’t start until almost immediately after I gave birth to my first child. Regardless, cyclobenzaprine helps shut down this pain pretty quickly for me. It does make me seriously sleepy, but proctalgia fugax attacks most often occur during the night, so that’s acceptable. I have 2-3 episodes a month, so my use of this medication is pretty low. 1 tablet does the trick within 10 minutes or so."

"My brother was in a motorcycle accident. His back was broken, multiple vertebrae, multiple breaks in each. He spent a month in bed. Taking 3 medications, Hydrocortisone, an Opiate, and 10mg Cyclobenzaprine (twice a day). He's only alive because he wore a motorcycle armor jacket. Without it, he would have died. He is not paralyzed at all. He will never ride a bike again. (It hurts) But as he was recovering, he said... 'Of all the medications, even the opiates, Cyclobenzaprine helped me the most with my broken back.' He said it did make him quite sleepy, but he was stuck in bed healing anyway. A second-hand story from my brother. Very effective, side-effects nil, compared to a broken back."

Cyclobenzaprine "I took the brand name pill a few times over the years for muscle spasms. 10 mg and only one at night. They worked. I now have a pinched nerve in my neck, and the pain is excruciating, into my shoulder, arm, and hand. My doctor prescribed 5 mg three times a day. I have taken three, not on consecutive nights. They do nothing for the pain, they do make me sleepy, but I keep jerking awake, it feels like I stop breathing. Still not sure why they were prescribed, but the pain is so bad, I was willing to try anything. I think maybe they work best for a muscular injury."

For Muscle Spasm "I take this because I have pain in my lower back, especially after exercising. I have arthritis, and while it does take care of the pain (which is amazing), it makes me so sleepy and groggy. I was started at 10 mg at bedtime, and that was too strong for me. I only take this when I have a flare, which happens once every couple of months. I split it in half now, I still feel sleepy but better than the first time. It takes me a day to recover from the effects of this drug, so I plan accordingly. Cannot drive the next day after taking it."

For Muscle Spasm "Works for muscle spasms, but the next day you wake up really sleepy to the point where you can't stay awake and have to take constant naps all day long."

Cyclobenzaprine for Muscle Spasm "I took Flexeril because I had been feeling intense back muscle pain. I was told that it would make me sleepy and feel relaxed. I took it at 9:00 pm thinking it was going to kick in quickly! I was wrong, 15 minutes later, nothing! So I made dinner, went online, then out of nowhere my neck felt heavy, like I couldn't hold my head up, and I stumbled to my bed. I saw the clock, and it showed 11:00ish. I slept like a baby! Woke up feeling great the next day, well rested, and my back felt better."
