Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "Two days after the injection, I get a pretty bad headache, indigestion, and a bloated feeling that lasts the day. This week (6th shot) has been different. It’s the second week the dose was raised from .25 mg to .5 mg. I felt like I had to throw up. The indigestion, burping, constipation, sore muscles, aches, and heavy sweating all felt like I had a horrible flu. I stayed home from work. I went back to work today, when I normally get the headache, and had heavy sweating, burping, indigestion, cold clammy skin, bloating, diarrhea, and depression and anxiety (years since I had either one). Tonight I still have bloating, wrists and shoulders sore, and indigestion with burps. My neck is really stiff. The normal headache has started with a little dizziness. I am still debating what to do as this has been an effective medicine. My blood sugar has gone from 290 to 90 to 140 when I check it. I have lost weight as well."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "Was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in March 2019. Doctor put me on Ozempic rather than insulin, although it's not recommended. He thought it was worth a try along with 500 mg metformin twice daily. The first 3 weeks of 0.25 mg Ozempic were just fine. Very minimal side effects - occasional diarrhea, some gas, and belching. Nothing I couldn't handle. The fourth week of 0.25 mg was worse. Constant diarrhea for four days, nausea, some vomiting. I went to a different doctor thinking I had a stomach virus, he prescribed me an anti-diarrheal, and I felt better. I took the Ozempic at 0.5 mg then, as prescribed. Two days later, nightmare. Diarrhea again, vomiting, nausea, and serious fatigue. I'm in the throes of it right now, and I'm going to be contacting my doctor to see what I can do to counteract this. Besides the side effects, though, it's working beautifully. My blood sugar is down from the high 300s to the low 100s in just a month."

Semaglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started Wegovy in October at the lowest possible dosage and worked up to 1.7 by February. I had no side effects and very slowly lost weight, which I was fine with. I lost 35 pounds in six months. However, oddly enough, after five weeks at 1.7 with no side effects, I became quite ill. I started having the sulfur belches, followed by vomiting and severe diarrhea. I went to urgent care. They said it was a normal response and to take anti-diarrhea meds. I did. It got worse, to the point of diarrhea every 15-20 minutes. After six days of this, I went to the emergency room. They admitted me. I spent nine days in the hospital with severe dehydration, which caused my kidneys and pancreas to start shutting down. Docs felt I had a separate bacterial bug not caused by my shots. I was finally able to go home. My doctor had me start back at a safer .25 dose. I did, but immediately got sick again. I think I need to stop these meds, sadly, as they did originally help me, but I can’t go on this way."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "My doctor prescribed Ozempic for me at the beginning of January, starting at the .25 mg dose and working up to the 1 mg dose, which I have been on for a few weeks now. I have seen noticeable improvements in my glucose levels, which are now at a normal range, which they had not been for years. It was also prescribed to help with weight loss. I have not found it to be particularly helpful in this regard. I am losing small amounts of weight, but a lot of this has to do with a modified diet that is conducive to weight loss. The side effects I have experienced and continue to experience are stomach cramps and diarrhea, sulfur burps, some constipation, lightheadedness, and dizziness, which is the worst one for me. I was at the hairdresser today, and on leaving I almost passed out and had to go back inside to sit down, and there was a big fuss, etc., etc. It was very embarrassing and scary. I so desperately want to lose weight and think that it will eventually work for me, so I am going to keep taking it."

Semaglutide for Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "2-3 days per week I suffer from poor sleep and fatigue accordingly. Trying to get to sleep is bad, with body noises making it impossible. Also, constant burping with gas buildup, farting at night is awful, watery eyes. The other 4 days is fine. The days are not in a row and often vary each week. My rating of the medicine would vary on different days, bad days, bad rating."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "Been on Ozempic for 2 years. Now I experience stomach problems and gastro problems. Stomach pain, nausea, acid and bile issues. Diarrhea, gas, burping all the time. I think it's taking a toll on my body. It sucks. There are times I can't even function. I'm lost now. Sick of being sick."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I’m 63 F with T2 diabetes, and I started on Oz mid-May 2024. Symptoms: nausea, fatigue, GERD, sulfur burps, stomach cramping from severe constipation, constipation, feeling like I need to vomit, ringing in my ears has increased significantly, loss of appetite, reduction of inflammation, occasional migraines, feeling “off” most days, bouts of dizziness, and feeling faint, but blood sugar and blood pressure are normal, improved blood sugar readings, weight loss of 13 lbs. There are some perks: rheumatoid and osteoarthritis inflammation has lessened, though I still feel pain daily, it’s more tolerable. I take no painkillers but will take CBD as needed. Loss of appetite has led to a loss of 13 lbs so far, blood sugar improved so I’m confident that my A1C has improved also. I struggle with what to do: stay on for the inflammatory reductions, weight loss, and blood sugar improvement benefits, or quit because I feel sick most days, so I have no real pleasure in life anymore. No, I’m not depressed."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "Ozempic worked well for me to lower blood sugar and cravings with few side effects. However, the drug removed any enjoyment of life in general for me as well. After 6 months, I had severe depression. I take 2 antidepressants already and am fairly upbeat and happy. Had to stop Ozempic, and it took a few months to regain a positive outlook. Also, food left the stomach so slowly that it would ferment and cause awful sulfur burps and flatulence. 1 ml/weekly."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I started this drug 8 weeks ago. Didn't know what to expect. The first 2 weeks were a nightmare. With burping, sulfur, constant diarrhea, feeling sick, not able to eat. It's settled after 4 weeks, but then increased to .50 dose, and symptoms started again. I am losing weight, and diabetes readings are coming down. It's working, but dreadful side effects. It does help to eat smaller portions. Will stay on it another while, but not sure long term."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "Has anyone experienced severe chapped lips on Ozempic? My lips are peeling and dry. Nothing I've tried makes them better, it has to be either a vitamin deficiency or the meds. Other than that, I have food aversions, bloating, burping, and I'm definitely not losing weight. Fasting blood sugar is down, though, but I wonder if it's worth it? On a 1 mg dose."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "On week 4 now, honestly, the first 2 weeks were a nightmare. Doctors don’t tell you to stay away from fatty foods and not to overeat. If they did, I wouldn’t have had the most horrible sulfur burps that made my eyes water, projectile vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach pain, not to mention constant nausea even during the night. I finally figured out not to eat too much and to avoid fatty foods completely! This was a game changer, and now I’m doing okay. I've lost 21 pounds so far, which is mad, but mostly because in 2 weeks I’ve eaten probably 4000 calories. I’m back to wanting to eat again but have to control myself or face the terrible consequences. Blood sugars are all over the place, as you can imagine, however, insulin sensitivity is way better. It just takes time to get used to. Hope this helps."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I started Ozempic mid-November, with my first injection at 25 mg. Within two days, I had the worst bloating, my stomach bulged. I felt horrible. I had nasty sulfur burps and gas. This lasted for 24 hours. I noticed a decrease in my sweet tooth, and I cut back on my food intake. I lost 10 lbs within the first 4 weeks of taking Ozempic. After 4 weeks, my doctor told me to increase my dosage to .50 mg. I delayed increasing it by 4 weeks. On Monday, I increased my dosage to .50 mg. Day 3, I got really sick, bloating, sulfur burps, and gas were horrible. I vomited at least 2 times. I was super hungry but couldn’t hold food down. All I wanted to do was sleep. By morning, I felt 80% better. Still burping and gassy, but not nauseous or vomiting anymore. I do not plan to continue to take the .50 mg. I will just stick with 25 mg. The misery I felt was excruciating, and I can’t handle it. My next appointment is next month, and I am curious to know if my A1C had decreased or not."

Semaglutide "My son is on a lot of meds. He is 30. His main source of care is endocrine. He suffers with weight and started Ozempic maybe 6 weeks ago. He is burping constantly but has been driven mad by an unbelievable taste in his mouth. He is on 0.5, and I would gauge that since the increase, the taste materialized. Can anyone confirm this taste at all? Thank you."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "So I have been on Ozempic for 5 weeks. I am tired a lot. Not sure if this is the drug or my poor sleep, but now that I see others are tired a lot, it makes me wonder. I have nasty burps a lot. I started on a dose of 0.25 for 4 weeks. I had a lot of low-level nausea, but not too bad except for one day. Then last Sunday, I took the higher dose of 0.5, and I was okay on Sunday and Monday, but Tuesday the nausea was horrible, and I had explosive diarrhea all day to the point I had to take Imodium, and I got my doctor's office to prescribe an anti-nausea med, Zofran, which helped a little. The next day, less nausea, and today is Thursday of that week, and I still have the burps and more BMs than I would like, as well as a lot of gas. I know I have lost weight just by how my clothes fit. I have very little appetite. Not sure if the pluses outweigh the minuses yet. I am probably going to try one more week and see how I feel. It has had a modest impact on blood sugars. I have been using less insulin."

Semaglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "My experience with Wegovy has been a rollercoaster. In the first week, the 0.25 mg dose was great. In the second week, I started feeling the side effects of nausea, burping, gas, diarrhea, and bloating. I noticed that I did eat more. Make sure your portions are small and stick to fruit and vegetables. Soups and not greasy processed foods. You may feel sick and will take longer to digest. I am currently reconsidering if I should continue. I am not sure if I want to experience the side effects at a higher dose. I feel terrible all the time and have a headache. I feel exhausted all the time."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Three days ago, I took my third injection of 0.25 mg. I am so, so sick. I have been sick with nausea and burping since I took the first injection, but this week is the worst. Nausea, vomiting, dizziness, headaches. Today was so intensely bad I almost went to the ER. I’m trying to keep going as I desperately want to lose weight. I’m down 10 lbs in 17 days, but I’m so sick I can’t even eat healthy foods. I don’t know if I’ll be able to do the next injection, this has been so horrible. My doctor also prescribed Zofran for the nausea, but it’s not helping. Will the side effects ever stop, or should I just give up?"

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "After not being able to take Rybelsus due to the side effects, my doctor switched me to this. Started with 0.25. Did fine for 2 injections, so was bumped up to 0.50. Have had 2 injections and have been violently ill for 5 days both times. Diarrhea. Vomiting. Gas. Sulfur burps. I am lucky if I can keep water down. This is miserable. Doctor says it will stop, though it could take 3 months. Not sure it is worth it."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "Week 7. It's killing me. I'm nauseous all the time. Migraine. Sure, my glucose levels are amazing, 94 to 135, without taking Novolog. (Since I can't eat anything, I don't take mealtime insulin). But it's not worth it. I belch 24/7. Get hiccups that wake me up. I've tried everything I know to lessen the nausea, but I've eaten NOTHING for days on end. This can't be healthy!"

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I have been on Ozempic for 2 months. Serious diarrhea and increased my acid reflux quite a bit. Very unpleasant burping. I have lost 4 pounds, and I am seldom hungry, I eat out of habit and stress relief. My symptoms are not severe, but I simply feel miserable, like the flu. I want to give the drug more time to see if I start feeling better, but it is so tempting to trash the stuff. My morning blood sugars are pretty good, I will get an A1C letter this month, and I expect it to be down. I hope that will be an incentive to stay with the drug."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "My first week, I felt tired and had no energy. Mild, intermittent nausea. Guess that's the appetite suppressant part. After the first 3 days, I started getting quite a bit of stomach discomfort and diarrhea. Anything I ate or drank went right through me, as well as gas. Also, an unusual amount of belching. Hope this goes away soon and does not happen after every dose. I teach 4-year-olds, and it greatly affected my ability to do my job. My BS numbers are not much different."
