For Heart Failure "EF 20 and started Entresto 6 months ago. Things changed slowly. Started retaining fluid, BP fell to 108/60, p 72. BP 97/54 at times. No problems before taking Entresto with amlodipine-benazepril. In 6 months, I had congestive HF twice in 3 weeks, then 4 weeks later! I asked if I could go back to my original meds, my doctor said I'm far better off with Entresto. How will we know if it's my heart that's failing or Entresto causing this if we never go back to my old meds to see if things return to normal? My echocardiogram was 20/25 before Entresto, a flat 20 on Entresto for 5 months. That test was one year apart, so I was on Entresto for the last 5 months before the test. They said the difference from 25/20 to a flat 20 was not much of a change. Why the fluid buildup? Now I'm taking diuretics for the fluid. I'm also on carvedilol, which I was on before Entresto. Would the change in BP cause or be part of the cause for fluid retention? Any answers?"

For Heart Failure "In February 2022, my husband had congestive heart failure with an EF of 10%. His cardiologist put him on Entresto 24-26 mg along with carvedilol 12.5 mg 2x daily. Within a couple of days, he was complaining about having trouble walking. This went on for months but was getting worse. The pain would start at the top of his feet, sharp stabbing pain, and travel up both legs until it would stop him dead in his tracks. He had to have follow-up tests, and his EF rate is now 60-65%. His cardiologist stopped his Lasix for about a week to see if that was causing the leg pain, but no. Then he stopped the rosuvastatin 40 mg for a week; still no. The pain was getting worse, and he was getting fatigued. He was also becoming weak. My husband had bloodwork, and his potassium was high. The doctor immediately stopped the Entresto. I would not recommend Entresto. It seems to cause more harm than good."

For Heart Failure "My father was put on Entresto about two months ago. His kidney function, which had been okay, grew worse and worse. A few days ago, he collapsed because his kidneys were no longer able to process his insulin (he has diabetes; it was hypoglycemia). He was seen by a nephrologist who quickly took him off Entresto; now his kidneys are working again. Perhaps this drug is great for some people, but a close eye must be kept on kidney function."

For Heart Failure "Have CHF ICD implant and 2 stents. Was on Entresto and Bystolic in 2017. Could not breathe, with swollen legs. Walking 100 feet was tiresome. Stopped taking Entresto and asthma medication abruptly and slept for 2 hours. Felt better. First sleep in 4 days. The next day still felt even better. Was able to drive home from Florida in 2-hour intervals."

For Heart Failure "I have dilated cardiomyopathy with an ejection fraction of 20. I was told I will need a heart transplant in the future. My doctor put me on Entresto, and I feel like a new person. I have my energy back, no fatigue, breathe much easier, and have a heightened sex drive. Before Entresto, I could barely walk up the stairs, I had to take a 3-hour nap every afternoon and had trouble sleeping. I am on it 3 months, taking 97 mg 2x a day, and today I was able to walk 1 1/2 miles!!! I am so happy that this medicine has given me my life back."

For Heart Failure "I tried Entresto for 10 months. The initial 6 months, I saw a definite improvement. My BNP level came down from 2,000 plus to just 847. I then started to feel off color, lethargic, achy, blurred vision, and cough, but the worst thing to happen was my serum urate (uric acid) levels elevated on every blood test. No medication gets it down either. So beware of Entresto or get gout along with all the other nasty things that it provides you with."

For Heart Failure "I was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy. My original issue was that I was waking up in the middle of the night with irregular, fast palpitations. I had 3 nights in a row drinking alcohol in moderation. On the 3rd night, I woke up with very heavy and fast palpitations. I had many tests the next day at a private hospital here in SE Asia. An echocardiogram indicated that my heart function was in the low 40% range. This was 2 months ago that I was initially diagnosed. My doctor put me on 50 mg of Entresto twice a day - started 2 months ago. Yesterday, I had a follow-up echo, and my heart function raised to 55%. I'm really impressed with the results. The only side effects I've had are lower back muscle pain and a bit of fatigue. It was worse when starting these pills, but then the body adjusted. I'm glad to be taking Entresto, and my doctor said I will be on it for a long time. We'll see about that."

For Heart Failure "My 97-year-old mother has been on Entresto, and it has her so weak and gasping for air. She is itching and being very warm. I am taking her off of the Entresto. I don't believe this drug is good for elderly patients. As of today, I'm taking her off this drug. I will let her cardiologist know. She is on other blood pressure meds and on a diuretic."

For Heart Failure "Doc put me on this stuff low dose, but right away I started being a little more dizzy than usual. I am diabetic, so my balance isn't great anyway, but it got noticeably worse in about a week on Entresto. AND I started retaining more water than usual on my lower legs, even though I was taking my usual Furosemide, to the point of a tiny scrape on the shins that wouldn't stop draining. So I read up on Entresto and found some patients do retain fluid. Stopping it right now. We'll see if that stops the bad stuff. Not recommended!"

For Heart Failure "This med has been my lifesaver. I can't believe all the negative reviews I'm reading on this, but this medicine gave me my life back. I remember wanting to sleep all the time, no energy to do anything. Now I'm working out, going out with my husband, we are like two teenagers again. So thank you, Entresto."

For Heart Failure "I have had very little side effects with the 99-103 Entresto. The side effects I have noted are fatigue and the need to sleep 9 hours a day. My heart is at less than 30%, so that may be the cause, or it may be the Entresto."

For Heart Failure "Suddenly, one evening I couldn’t breathe, went to the ER and was diagnosed with CHF, dilated cardiomyopathy, pulmonary edema, and pneumonia. A 2D echo showed LVEF of 30-35% and I was started on a low dose of Entresto and have felt worse since being on it, with symptoms of chest pain, shortness of breath, increased PVCs, hypotension, dizziness, numbness and tingling in the entire body, with feelings of doom. After revisiting the ER two more times and one more hospital admission and still feeling worse, I realized after having taken Entresto for 3 months that my horrible symptoms began when I started taking Entresto. I stopped taking Entresto four days ago and am actually beginning to feel better, more normal. Know that Entresto is a great new drug for treating heart failure, but unfortunately I could not tolerate it ... the side effects outweighed the benefits for me."

For Heart Failure "36-year-old female put on Entresto to improve EF following postpartum cardiomyopathy. Unfortunately, after a year, I have not had any improvement in EF. I am at 45%. The drug doesn’t give me any side effects besides low BP when upon standing. I’ve heard great things from women with my condition. It seems my damage may just not be reversible."

For Heart Failure "I’ve been on Entresto for about 5/6 months now after I was suffering with all sorts of problems while taking ramipril. It took about 2 months to kick in, and now I'm almost pain-free. I've even been on a couple of holidays, which would have been impossible while on ramipril. Thankful that I was prescribed this wonder medication."

For Heart Failure "35-year-old had a heart attack of unknown cause. Heart failure. A-fib. Scar tissue. Ejection fraction of 12%! As close to death as you can get. Struggled for 2 months, and the doc tried me on a low dose of Entresto. I'd say within a week of being on this drug, I noticed my hands warmed up. They were no longer frozen due to circulation. Things picked up. At the 6-month mark, cardioversion reset A-fib. Ejection rate = 20%. At the 1-year mark, ejection rate = 40%. Increased the dose of Entresto to 51/49. At 14 months, ejection rate = 45%. Side effects - severe fatigue, brain fog, lower back pain, bloating, possibly sharp heart pain. Good med."

For Heart Failure "My 89-year-old father was taking this med for a few weeks. He was weak (we had to pull him out of bed or out of his chair, he walked with a walker, was confused, just totally not him). He happened to have a urinary infection about the same time, so we blamed that. Finally, a week later, infection gone -- and he was still so weak. Hospitalized one day, many tests, and nothing found. Started to take half the dose of Entresto, per his cardiologist (we asked since that was the only thing different at this point)... in five days, back to normal. No walker, no need to help him get up, alert and living again! P.S. His primary care doctor said he doesn't prescribe Entresto... it's two powerful drugs. He isn't the cardio guy, but... beware!"

For Heart Failure "I’m a 75-year-old female with left bundle branch block (LBBB). Very sensitive to BP meds. Was put on amlodipine 5 mg. BP was still high. Was put on Entresto low dose. Side effects were fatigue and lightheadedness. BP went down but too far, I was really, really tired and went to lie down. Checked BP, it was 111/51, pulse 86. I stopped taking it after 3 days. I’m still lightheaded and tired. Taking beet juice and diuretic BP 127/72. Notified doctor I remembered I was allergic to losartan."

For Heart Failure "I've had CHF for years, but my former cardiologist never put me on any medication to help my heart. Plus, he was a total a**hole, so I found another cardiologist with great credentials. At any rate, only 2 weeks ago, they started me on a very low dose of Entresto because of high creatinine levels. Even at that low dose of splitting a 24-26 mg tab and taking half in the morning and half at night, I've had an increase in my balance issues (already had some from neuropathy in my feet), itchiness that won't stop, what was just a small pain in my left side is now a really bad pain all around my waistline area, about 8-10 inches wide, from abdominal pain to back pain. I'm dizzy or lightheaded all the time, get confused easily, and my legs feel like they weigh 100 lbs each at times. All this at a very minimal dose! I have an appointment with my cardiologist in about 6 hours from now, and I'm telling them to take me off this S#!t because for me, it's dangerous! I can't even stand up straight."

For Heart Failure "My husband was prescribed this drug by his cardiologist. For some reason, the doctor prescribed the highest dose and did not ease him into the medication. Entresto was a nightmare. My husband couldn't get out of bed. He slept 20 of 24 hours. Finally, we contacted our GP, and he instructed us to have my husband stop taking Entresto. A week later, we met with the cardiologist, he gave my husband an EKG, and now he has Afib. I find it hard to believe the coincidence of taking this drug and then immediately developing persistent Afib."

For Heart Failure "I think certain shady doctors must make money for prescribing these new awful medications. The first day my family member was on it, they started to swell in feet and ankles. It got worse and worse, where they weren't able to breathe because of so much fluid retention. It went on and on for over two weeks, even after following up with the doctor and bringing it to his attention. He ignored it, blamed it on sodium intake (not true, we monitored the diet). Instead, he prescribed a super weak diuretic and increased Entresto! My family member was in the hospital, and we almost lost them. Never had fluid retention like that in their entire life until that medication. Scary!"

For Heart Failure "I've always been extremely active to the tune of 90 minutes of exercise a day, even after suffering a heart attack while riding my trail bike at age 58 four years ago. Genetics was blamed for the cause. My LV ejection fraction was not compromised at that time. However, last year I suffered a collapsed lung and pneumonia. During my 10-day hospital stay, I experienced heart failure and an LVEF of 35%. I was told it became much better, and I was released from the hospital. Over the last year, I have become very tired and things became much more difficult. I had an echocardiogram a few weeks ago, and now my LVEF fraction is 31%. Yikes! My cardiologist prescribed Entresto 50 mg and one other blood pressure drug, Spron...? I want to thank the makers of Entresto very much! I know it does not cure my underlying health issues, but it certainly helps improve my energy level and quality of life. Thank you!"

I have very high anxiety and on Entresto I am unable to take Ativan. It knocks me down. I need Ativan for my anxiety. May need to quit this drug even though the doctors say to push through the side effects."

For Heart Failure "Caused heart to race. Brought BP down too low, 80/55. Felt I was hanging on for dear life. Got some water and a pinch of salt to help make BP go back up. Heart starting racing again, putting me back in A-fib, which was not a problem for the last 3 years. Not doing another cardioversion since the anesthesia wreaks havoc on my memory. No more Entresto!!!"

For Heart Failure "I have a family history of heart failure. After my primary and heart doctor prescribed this medicine, I decided to take it. After only being on it for 6 weeks, I could take 160 mg Lasix and still wouldn't urinate. Not understanding and just knowing something was wrong, I was admitted to the hospital for kidney failure - after never having a kidney problem before. The doctor treating me immediately stopped Entresto. I could breathe now, I was always out of breath. I had abdominal pains, lower side back pains, and my heart doctor told me the medicines aren't working for me. Spend as much time with my kids as possible and prepare a will. I HATE ENTRESTO."
