For Rheumatoid Arthritis "I needed a cost-friendly medication for rheumatoid arthritis, so my doctor started me on Meloxicam. The first week, I noticed improvement with the rheumatoid arthritis. However, for the last two months of taking Meloxicam, I noticed changes: increased blood pressure, sugar levels in the 300s, nausea, fatigue, anxiety, and shaking. It got to where I couldn't walk 10 ft without my BP instantly rising and labored breathing. I was one of the unlucky ones that had negative reactions to a medicine that took away the pain."

Meloxicam for Inflammatory Conditions "I am using Mobic for a rotator cuff strain, and myofascial pain in my shoulder stabilizers. It works great for that. I made the mistake of using it without food, and it has made me very sick. Dizziness and nausea. I also found I have to take it at night because it makes me very drowsy."

For Inflammatory Conditions "I was prescribed this by an orthopedic doctor and took it for 2 days. Then the diarrhea started, nausea beyond belief, stomach pain. Today is day 7, still feeling very sick. Quit taking it after day 4. I can honestly say I've never been so sick. My pain in my back was less painful than this is!!"

For Osteoarthritis "On day 2 right now (15 mg-1 daily) and 3 hours after taking it, I'm feeling very anxious, asthma-like symptoms (I do have asthma), and nausea. NOT continuing and will be calling the doctor. I'll be using Aleve and PT to manage my arthritis that just flared and got diagnosed. I can't take a Z-Pak either as it is too strong on my stomach. 41 years old and healthy. Also gained 5 pounds in 2 days! Not normal to gain like that as my weight has been consistent lately... lost 60 lbs last year. Very scary reading these posts and info. I feel like we are just being poisoned with all these drugs!"

For Inflammatory Conditions "Just wanted to say this medication helped my lower back pain immensely. My lower back had been sending nerve pain down both my legs - the pain has been horrible. Meloxicam totally works. But... I'm not giving it a higher score because it made me cough due to side effects after taking it 3 days straight (7.5 mg once a day). I seriously thought I had the flu at first and was going to throw up. Then I felt a twisting knife-like pain in my stomach. Eventually, I drank some Kefir and ate a cracker and felt 80% better. But it really did a number on my stomach. I will only take it now when desperate for pain relief. Also, it caused me severe stomach bloating."

For Osteoarthritis "I had two total knee replacements. One a year ago and the other almost 2 years ago. I got to a certain point of recovery and never got any better. I was sore every day, and the swelling would not leave completely. Three days on meloxicam, (recommended by a friend who also had TKR), and I am significantly reduced pain not only in my knees but my back. Makes my stomach feel a bit nauseous at times, but I'll take that to be able to walk easier with less pain!!!"

For Osteoarthritis "48 yr old healthy female, w/ osteoarthritis in 3 places in my back. LOTS of pain, nothing really helping. Decided to give Meloxicam a try, and within a few days, a huge difference in the pain, only felt stiff in the mornings. However, week 2 of taking it, and was in bed last night about to fall asleep when I became incredibly dizzy, felt like the bed was spinning and I felt pretty confused as well. I haven't been drunk in years, but that's the only thing I can compare the feeling to-been really drunk and going to bed. It was terrible and lasted probably 15 mins. Each time I closed my eyes, the bed was spinning and I became super nauseous, and when my eyes were open, everything was spinning as well. Was really scary! Done w/ Meloxicam."

For Inflammatory Conditions "I am 28 years old, and I've been suffering from post-chikungunya arthropathy for the past 2 months and been on complete bed rest with pain in my lower back, SI joints, both ankles and knees, and migrating pain in my shoulders and hands depending on how I use them (usually, things like lifting my phone will cause me pain). I've tried HCQ and indomethacin with no significant improvement, so I was started on meloxicam 15mg. I took it only once and developed extreme dizziness, nausea, and a crushing headache within 1 hour. I didn't have any joint pain, but my head felt like it was about to explode, and I had difficulty breathing. This effect lasted for 1 full day, and I will never touch meloxicam again. I will say it was effective at tackling joint pain in a way that no other medicine I'd tried had, but this dizziness was so disorienting and scary that I'd rather take the joint pain any day. If you're starting meloxicam, please be aware of the severe side effects - to be used only as a last resort!"

For Rheumatoid Arthritis "I have been taking this for about three weeks. To begin with, the pain seemed reduced, and I noticed a larger range of movement with hands and knees. However, the side effects by the third week were ringing in my ears, nausea, and sometimes headaches upon waking, gastrointestinal pains, diarrhea, and even weird bladder (similar to UTI). Discontinuing use and letting my Dr. know."

For Inflammatory Conditions "Was prescribed this medication 15 mg today for pain in upper back right side. Thinking that it may be muscular, I was given this for inflammation. Within a half hour of taking this med, I was very dizzy and stumbling around. Right now, 5 hours later, I am still dizzy, nauseous, and still in pain. Don't think I will be taking a second dose."

For Inflammatory Conditions "Was put on this med for inflammation in my leg and arm. Took one 15mg pill on a Friday night, got up on Saturday and had no pain whatsoever. I had been suffering with excruciating pain for about 4 to 5 months. I took another pill on Saturday mid-morning. Around 5 pm, I started feeling nauseated and my mouth started filling with saliva. Each time I swallowed or spit, it would fill up rapidly again and again. Then I started getting bad stomach cramps. This all lasted about 5 to 6 minutes. Debating if I want to take another one tomorrow or not. I long to wake up pain-free but am so scared of the side effects of this med."

For Osteoarthritis "Put me through more pain than I was in. Sweating, my stomach got tore up, heartburn, and I ate a full meal, feel nauseated, bloated. I didn't realize it, but this is the second time I've been prescribed this drug by a different doctor, and I won't forget next time. The side effects from this drug are insane, and I can't believe they feed this crap to people. They use this stuff on dogs, why are they using it on people? They should stop giving this to animals, in my opinion, if it causes this much pain."

For Pain "I had a laparoscopic surgery to remove my appendix, and the doctor had to punch holes in my solar plexus and abdominal muscles. Upon discharge from the hospital, I was prescribed meloxicam 7.5 mg. It didn't work at all for the pain coming from the puncture wounds in my abdominal muscles. It did manage to cause extreme nausea in combination with the amoxicillin clavulanate I was also prescribed concurrently. It was a horrible experience. I thought I was going to vomit blood, and it had absolutely no effect on my pain. Apparently, some people get relief from arthritis pain from this, but it did nothing for my post-surgical pain involving muscle punctures, lacerations, and internal metal staples. Due to the nausea side effects, I will not be trying it again. If you have not had it before with good results, I recommend avoiding it. Regular naproxen sodium or ibuprofen is more effective and has fewer side effects. Meloxicam is bad medicine."

"My doctor prescribed this when the naproxen that was previously prescribed caused chest pains. (I have high blood pressure and am on 25 mgs Hydrochlorothiazide). The first day taking this medicine seemed wonderful, the pain was manageable and I felt okay. By the second day, I noticed a couple of little things like loss of appetite and upset stomach (although I took the medicine with food), but brushed it off as minor and okay. By the third morning, I was having major chills, blurred vision, nausea, and a migraine-level headache. Needless to say, I have not taken meloxicam again."

For Fibromyalgia "For me, fibromyalgia symptoms are on and off. The pain started in March for my right shoulder. Tried PT, but didn't help. I was prescribed meloxicam. I used meloxicam for 5 days, then I had a sudden sensation in my sleep that I was spinning. It occurred 4 times. Along with the spinning sensation, I also had nausea, foot pain, passing gas with a bad smell, and dizziness. I stopped meloxicam medication, after 3 days, I still have the dizziness. The doctor has mentioned the symptoms could be BPPV. Not sure if meloxicam triggered the BPPV."

For Pain "I was recently diagnosed with tennis elbow. My MD prescribed meloxicam. Two hours after taking it, I started experiencing intolerable leg pain (pain like I have never experienced), flu-like symptoms (chills, mild fever), fatigue, loss of appetite, loss of interest in work/hobbies, mild nausea. I discontinued the medicine twelve days ago. While side effects have improved, I'm still experiencing some. I can honestly say that I have never felt this bad in my life."

For Osteoarthritis "I was started on 15 mg tablets, 1 per day for foot, ankle, and hip osteoarthritis. I had minimal nausea at first, then felt okay for about a week with great pain relief, but then side effects kicked in. I was very nauseous and had headaches 6 out of 8 days. I was exhausted by evening and slept a lot. I took the pill as directed, with food. I just discontinued it. So disappointed, because it really reduced pain."
