Meloxicam for Inflammatory Conditions "I am using Mobic for a rotator cuff strain, and myofascial pain in my shoulder stabilizers. It works great for that. I made the mistake of using it without food, and it has made me very sick. Dizziness and nausea. I also found I have to take it at night because it makes me very drowsy."

For Osteoarthritis "I've been on it for three days for pain and inflammation due to osteoarthritis. The side effects are bad, and I cannot wait for it to be out of my system. I have experienced a severe headache, dizziness, back pain, bloating, anxiety, and insomnia."

For Tendonitis "Benefits did not outweigh the side effects experienced. I am a runner with tendonitis in my left foot. My doctor prescribed meloxicam, 15 mg, to reduce inflammation and manage pain. I took it for a month, and I experienced side effects like dizziness, stomach problems, and inexplicable weight gain (despite the fact that I was swimming, biking, and slowly starting to run again). The small reduction in pain was not worth the side effects, so I am back to about 800 mg of ibuprofen a day."

Meloxicam "When I began taking Mobic (7.5 mg twice a day) for my sciatica and lower back pain, I felt like I was 10 years younger. I experienced greater flexibility and generally felt good all over. However, after a couple of months on this dosage, I began to experience dizziness and shortness of breath. My doctor found that I was very anemic due to blood loss somewhere in my body to the point where I had to be hospitalized and received 2 units of blood. I had no history of ulcers or other internal bleeding. In addition to taking the maximum dosage of Mobic, I was also taking a baby aspirin once a day. My advice is to take as small a dose as possible for as short a time as possible and NEVER use it when taking aspirin."

For Inflammatory Conditions "Was prescribed this medication due to a possible spinal injury to help reduce the swelling to keep me comfortable until the official diagnosis. The 7.5 mg helped some; the 15 mg helped so much more. Unfortunately, the side effects are too much, and I’ll be asking my doctor for over-the-counter options. I have been completely spaced out since starting it; feeling like I’m high. I’ve also experienced stomach pains, bad headaches, dizziness, and just all around not normal. I definitely don’t recommend this medication."

For Osteoarthritis "48 yr old healthy female, w/ osteoarthritis in 3 places in my back. LOTS of pain, nothing really helping. Decided to give Meloxicam a try, and within a few days, a huge difference in the pain, only felt stiff in the mornings. However, week 2 of taking it, and was in bed last night about to fall asleep when I became incredibly dizzy, felt like the bed was spinning and I felt pretty confused as well. I haven't been drunk in years, but that's the only thing I can compare the feeling to-been really drunk and going to bed. It was terrible and lasted probably 15 mins. Each time I closed my eyes, the bed was spinning and I became super nauseous, and when my eyes were open, everything was spinning as well. Was really scary! Done w/ Meloxicam."

For Inflammatory Conditions "Went to the doctor with neck and lower back discomfort, he said something about the sciatica nerve, etc., etc. Said I was fine and was giving me an anti-inflammatory. Asked him to check my blood pressure, which was fine. Later, I filled the prescription at the pharmacy. Came home, there was no pamphlet in the box for the medication at all, just the pills. I took one at around 9 pm, and within an hour, my heart was racing, my left arm felt weird, I had awful gas, was dizzy, and felt totally weird. I started to Google and found out what this medication was and all about the side effects. (I’m not allergic to anything and have never had side effects.) Not that I take much, but on the odd occasion of needing meds, all has been fine. Had the worst night, barely slept, slept a bit in the AM, have an awful headache in the morning. Palpitations and gas subsided somewhat, but I realize this must be a slow-release pill, so effects will last a while. Never, ever again will I take this. Worst experience ever."

For Inflammatory Conditions "I am 28 years old, and I've been suffering from post-chikungunya arthropathy for the past 2 months and been on complete bed rest with pain in my lower back, SI joints, both ankles and knees, and migrating pain in my shoulders and hands depending on how I use them (usually, things like lifting my phone will cause me pain). I've tried HCQ and indomethacin with no significant improvement, so I was started on meloxicam 15mg. I took it only once and developed extreme dizziness, nausea, and a crushing headache within 1 hour. I didn't have any joint pain, but my head felt like it was about to explode, and I had difficulty breathing. This effect lasted for 1 full day, and I will never touch meloxicam again. I will say it was effective at tackling joint pain in a way that no other medicine I'd tried had, but this dizziness was so disorienting and scary that I'd rather take the joint pain any day. If you're starting meloxicam, please be aware of the severe side effects - to be used only as a last resort!"

For Osteoarthritis "Last week, I began a daily dose of 7.5 mg for lower back/sacroiliac arthritis pain. I was not noticing any help with the pain. On the third day, midday, about an hour after taking the pill with a large protein smoothie and water, I was overcome by extreme dizziness. I quickly ate some nuts and jello and drank lots of water. I grabbed my thermometer and made it to the couch and lay down just in time. My temp was below 96. My pulse (finger to wrist checked) was below 54. I was very cold. I lay there for over two hours, trying to breathe calmly, waiting for the dizziness to pass. It finally did. I will never take meloxicam again! I have since learned that this drug contains sulfa, and I am allergic to sulfa antibiotics and apparently also to any med with sulfa in it. That may explain my bad adverse reaction, and doctors should know not to prescribe this med to anyone with a sulfa allergy of any kind."

For Inflammatory Conditions "I have chronic lower spinal pain, pain from foot injuries, from a fractured pelvis 10 years ago, what my docs have said is arthritis and fibromyalgia. I was prescribed this med and took the first dose last night before bed. Woke a few hours later, could not go back to sleep, dizzy, still in pain, and had the worst early morning leg cramps I have ever experienced-cried out in pain. If my windows had been open, anyone who heard me might have thought I was getting attacked. Upon waking, I was still in pain and sooooo tired. Not taking another dose."

For Pain "I broke my ankle and was taking 1 ibuprofen and 1 Tylenol for pain management but also had to add in an omeprazole because the ibuprofen gives me stomach pain. My ortho prescribed meloxicam 7.5 mg thinking it would be easier on my stomach. I took the first dose with dinner on Sunday evening. It knocked me out and I slept hard the whole night. However, it did nothing for pain. And I started having double vision and dizzy spells by 11 AM Monday morning. I quit taking the meloxicam and over the next 3 days the double vision subsided. It took over a week for the dizziness to subside."

For Inflammatory Conditions "Doctor prescribed this medication due to inflammation from plantar fasciitis. 15 mg once a day. Read all the literature about this drug. It was great at relieving the pain in my heel. However, after only one dose, I had dizziness and a pounding headache. Also got heartburn even though I took it on a full stomach. I also felt my heart racing and got pressure in my ears, most likely due to it raising my blood pressure. Definitely not worth all that as I had a TIA 8 years ago. The instructions to doctors say to use the lowest dose for the shortest period of time. Should have been given 7.5 and not for 2 months."

For Inflammatory Conditions "Was prescribed this medication 15 mg today for pain in upper back right side. Thinking that it may be muscular, I was given this for inflammation. Within a half hour of taking this med, I was very dizzy and stumbling around. Right now, 5 hours later, I am still dizzy, nauseous, and still in pain. Don't think I will be taking a second dose."

For Pain "I was prescribed meloxicam for shoulder pain. It worked okay, but I started getting a mild headache. I continued to take it until day 7. I woke up extremely dizzy, as if the room was moving. After a few minutes, I was able to stabilize myself. I stood up and felt unbalanced and just felt different, similar to having a head cold but with a certain uneasiness. It is 12 hours later, and I still feel a bit out of sorts and tossed the meloxicam."

For Inflammatory Conditions "Took this for 5 days for inflammation following knee surgery. Did nothing for pain, and I had some stomach issues. The morning after my 5th dose, I woke up, and the room was spinning. Vertigo was so bad I could barely walk. Going back to ibuprofen. I'll never take this again."

For Osteoarthritis "72-year-old healthy female with minor arthritis in my neck. I have been on one meloxicam daily dose of 7.5 mg for 3 weeks. I just stopped taking it because of experiencing about 6 side effects. Thankfully, my neck pain is not extreme. If it were, I may have continued taking it. Side effects, which worsened in week two to week three: weight gain - this was during the Christmas holiday, so I may have actually put on about 2 lbs, but I have gained about 7 lbs around my middle. Dizziness has increased in week three. Sometimes I have trouble walking or getting up. Facial swelling, particularly in the eyelids, but also across my nose and cheeks (sinus area). Bloating and swelling on hands. Sadness, crying. Hoarseness. Confusion, got my days mixed up and more."

For Inflammatory Conditions "I just started taking this 15 mg. It makes me very dizzy after the 3rd day. Stopped it for a week and just started again today. Makes me dizzy. It does help a lot with the body pain, but I don't like being dizzy, it prevents me from doing daily stuff. Is there another drug that doesn't make someone dizzy."

For Fibromyalgia "For me, fibromyalgia symptoms are on and off. The pain started in March for my right shoulder. Tried PT, but didn't help. I was prescribed meloxicam. I used meloxicam for 5 days, then I had a sudden sensation in my sleep that I was spinning. It occurred 4 times. Along with the spinning sensation, I also had nausea, foot pain, passing gas with a bad smell, and dizziness. I stopped meloxicam medication, after 3 days, I still have the dizziness. The doctor has mentioned the symptoms could be BPPV. Not sure if meloxicam triggered the BPPV."

For Osteoarthritis "I was prescribed this for a car accident, but I kept taking it because it surprised me by erasing about 85% of my sacroiliac pain. The pain had grown so gradually that I was in deep denial about it, even after the car wreck made it 10 times worse. Then all of a sudden it was mostly gone, and I just broke down and cried from the miraculous relief - I'm able to be physically active again even with unfixable injuries. I have a few side effects: dizziness when standing quickly, and my blood pressure keeps trying to creep up, but the good greatly outweighs the bad still. I've had a gastrectomy, which means I'm at greater risk of stomach bleeding, so I'm worried about the potential stomach side effects that increase the longer you take it, but nothing bad yet."
