For Cough "After all the treatments I had from the doctor, nothing really suppressed the cough, which I have had for years. After taking Mucinex, my cough and the associated phlegm have almost disappeared. I am a 74-year-old male, but my side effects seem to be the opposite of others, i.e. I am doing more sleeping than normal, at any time night or day, but thank heavens for the cessation of cough."

For Fibromyalgia "It works. I have not had 100% relief, but this is the first 4 consecutive days I have been able to go without some type of pain medicine. Neurontin worked for me as well, but it made me sleepy and irritable. I'm taking a good vitamin as well, but I attribute this profound relief to Mucinex - 600mg daily."

For Fibromyalgia "I have had severe hip, lower back, and leg pain lately, and have had so much pain walking, sleeping, and could hardly bend. I made an appointment with my doctor and though I have fibromyalgia, I thought I was really headed for trouble. Then wham - I was hit with a bad cold. I took my hubby's Mucinex and thought - am I imagining things or did my pain magically subside? I don't know why, but boy what a difference it made! After a second dose, I looked it up and found this post. Going to the doc's tomorrow and will tell him."

For Bronchitis "Mucinex worked like a charm for me. When it ran out, I made the mistake of waiting a few days before I went out and got some more! Since I have chronic bronchitis, I will always have this medicine on hand. I had to see a doctor before taking it since I am taking other medications, and had to make sure there would not be any dangerous interactions. This medicine is a wonder drug for me. I have now quit smoking and am using nicotine gum. If your bronchitis is caused by smoking, you also need to quit. The nicotine gum will keep your nerves calm, and that way you won't have to quit cold turkey. When on the gum, you can take care of the psychological withdrawals and later take care of the physical withdrawals, not both at the same time."

For Bronchitis "I have used it twice now. And it feels like it makes me worse. I cough so hard that my back and my stomach are now hurting. My cough is so deep, and nothing is coming up. It just makes me cough non-stop. However, I'm not taking any today, I'm also not coughing, so I put the two together. When you take it, it makes you cough, unfortunately, in my case, nothing came up."

For Fibromyalgia "I bought some Mucinex 3 weeks ago for a very bad cough that would not go away. Within a few days, my fibromyalgia seemed to be getting better. Places that always had pretty much the same amount of pain seemed less painful and even the more painful ones were hurting less. The pain has continued to decrease, and I am starting to feel more energetic. This is the best I have felt in years. It was only after doing research online that I found the Mucinex/fibro connection. I only learned that I had fibro last fall, and the prescription drugs have too many bad side effects for me to take them, though I was afraid I would be forced to someday. The Mucinex has had no side effects, and I am feeling better every day."

For Cough "At first, I thought this was making me worse because of thinning my mucus, but I read someone's comment on here who said to drink a lot of water (64 oz), and I tried that, and it definitely made a difference. If you don't drink a lot of water with this, you are not going to clear out the mucus."

For Fibromyalgia "I heard about this treatment from a nurse at the local CVS Pharmacy. I went online and looked up the research done. I've been on it for around 3 months now and it works. I ran out at one point and didn't think much of it, and my pain came back. I suggest you try it, it really does help. I use it along with Pure Malic Acid, and the two things together gave me my life back."

For Bronchitis "I've tried this twice, once for allergy-related coughing and bronchitis. For some reason, for me, this medicine always makes me cough more than I need to. It does thin the phlegm and helps make my coughs productive, but when I need to sleep, this isn't the medicine I can take at night. I use Robitussin DM for nighttime use."

For Cough "One of the best things for coughs. The Mucinex DX green does a great job of thinning mucus as well as stopping cough. The blue is good for colds and allergies without cough. I prefer the 600 mg tablets. For me, they wear off after five hours. Take with a lot of water. The more water, the better it works. 16 ozs every 90 minutes makes it work the best."

For Fibromyalgia "I had severe tendinitis after 5 rounds of high dose chemo, probably as a side effect of the antibiotic Levaquin. I had my RA factor checked to be sure rheumatoid arthritis hadn't kicked in with the chemo and it was normal. But I was in serious pain. Then I got a cold last week and picked up some Mucinex for the cough. Amazingly, the tendinitis has settled way down. I only took Mucinex for 3 days and now, a week later, I am still enjoying the benefit. I am not 100% pain free, but probably 90%."

For Cough "I had a runny nose, blocked ears, headache, and sore throat with mucus. It's great! I took one pill and saw relief, so 4 hours later I took the second one. Now I am wide awake. It's almost 4 am. Take it earlier."

"For fibromyalgia: I have been taking two 600 mg tabs per day of the 100% guaifenesin Mucinex since June 2014. Previously was on Lyrica (I now have liver damage I think was caused from that and Cymbalta), which really didn't seem to help much. Can't claim to be totally pain-free because it appears I have a 'weather' body. Whenever a high-pressure storm system comes in, my pain levels go up. I am convinced, however, that guaifenesin therapy works. I have seen other websites that say it is only having a placebo effect, but then how do you explain those people who accidentally helped themselves stop fibro pain when they took it for sinus problems? I now have to be very careful what I take due to liver problems, and guaifenesin has no side effects... So? :)"

For Fibromyalgia "Mucinex made my pain disappear if I took it along with a painkiller, but not only that, it made everything better. All of my fibromyalgia symptoms were gone, but that may have been because I was taking ginseng for energy and ginkgo for fibrofog. I still love Mucinex, it saved my life."

For Bronchitis "Have been taking 1200 mg slow-release Mucinex (plain guaifenesin) for two weeks, and it has helped loosen mucus in my lungs. It does require drinking LOTS of water to be effective. In my case, 64 ounces a day. Noticeable difference in breathing and timbre of my voice. All that said, hoping I can stop taking the medicine and simply work on staying hydrated."

For Bronchiectasis "Works great for thinning mucus in the lungs. People with bronchiectasis may need to double up the dosage. People with a flare-up may not notice a big change at first as it’s gently acting. Check with your doctor, of course, but this is a fairly safe medicine. I use it daily to keep passages clear."

For Cough "I was suffering from a severe virus-caused sore throat with terrible coughing. My PCP advised me to take Mucinex but at substantially greater dosage than the package recommends. I did so for about 3-4 weeks. The medication did help relieve my coughing, but it interfered so badly with my sleep that I had to discontinue taking it. I notice that other people have experienced sleep problems with Mucinex. There should be a warning about this on the package label."

For Bronchitis "Mucinex works great for colds and helps get the nasty stuff up before it takes root in the lungs, but for bronchitis you will definitely need something much stronger (see a doctor) unless you want to be sick for about 4 weeks."

For Fibromyalgia "I have been using Mucinex for 6-9 months for fibromyalgia and chronic cough (20 years). I started with 600 mg twice a day for about a month, then I switched to 1200 mg twice a day for about 2 months. 1200 mg was way too much, it made my joints burn with pain and my left leg swell up. I switched back to 600 mg twice a day - still had the pain and swelling - then dropped the dose to 600 mg once a day. The swelling went down and the pain was much less. I got very tired - hard to work. All this time, the Mucinex worked to control the fibro and helped me to function and think clearly. I will try an even lower dose of Mucinex. I can't get it over the counter. I've been off the medicine for 2 days with lots of rest. In a few days, I'll be back on with a lower dose."

For Cough "I had a bad chest infection, and even after potent antibiotics took care of the infection, I had a rattling cough and low-grade fever. My doctor Rx'd Mucinex, and I could not believe how well it broke up the congestion in my chest, made it easier for me to cough it all up. As a result, I finally got rid of the low-grade fever also. Finally, guaifenesin has been around forever as a remedy for fibromyalgia."

For Bronchitis "I read many reviews, some positive and some negative. But people need to remember it will work for some, and others it won't. In the '80s, my allergist prescribed 'Guaifenesin' for me. It really was the best for me. Then it was taken off the market for a while. Several months, I was looking for something to help me with my congestion and allergies. Found Mucinex and have been using it as needed, and I feel great."

For Fibromyalgia "I found tremendous relief during the past six months with Mucinex for fibromyalgia, however, I was wondering if any other person thought that the Mucinex also caused sensitivity to sugar. I also noticed that when I took the 1200 mg of 12-hour timed release Mucinex, I felt energetic, however, my joints were extremely painful. My shoulders and left knee were on fire, and my left leg was swollen. I reduced the dosage to 600 mg timed release. Now I feel okay, able to function without the extreme pain and swelling, the sensitivity to sugar is still there though. Also, I am premenopausal and was wondering if anyone thought that taking Mucinex made the symptoms worse. Overall, Mucinex works for me."

For Cough "I had a cough, runny nose, allergies. Then lungs got congested and major wheezing. Normally, I will just take cetirizine when it's allergy season, but this time my chest was in play. I looked all over the house for my bottle of Mucinex. Couldn't find it. I suffered for a couple of days with a nasty cough and gook in my lungs, trying to sleep and make it through the day. After realizing I left it at our second home, I headed for the store. Bought the 1200 mg time release (1st time), usually, I would get the 600 mg. Within an hour, the wheezing stopped. I am writing this comment because it works fabulously for me. I have told many of my friends, and it has worked for them. Not one complaint. When I have chest congestion, I will always take Mucinex. It truly works. For those that say it doesn't work, I find that hard to believe."

For Fibromyalgia "Wow! I am shocked to find out that Mucinex is giving people relief from fibromyalgia. How wonderful is that! I think the drug manufacturers should let this information be spread more than it is. I see this as a wonderful bit of information."
