Dextromethorphan "I had a long-term chronic cough a few years back and was buying everything on the shelf, nothing worked. My hubby asked the pharmacist what he would recommend, and he said Delsym, the orange stuff. Thought it was expensive but bought it. I immediately stopped coughing. Well, here I am coughing again for a long time and finally broke down and bought some, no more cough with one dose and may take a dose today. Thanks for this great product."

Dextromethorphan "I bought this for a dry, nagging cough. It worked great for the cough. I took the 12-hour version. I did, however, stay up for several hours with a rapid heartbeat and nausea. It's been 16 hours, and I still feel shaky and a bit loopy from the medication."

Dextromethorphan "I took Delsym 12 hr for a cough, and it worked pretty good for me. I thought I did not have any side effects from it. A few days later, I found that my fibromyalgia pain had nearly disappeared, so what I worked out was great dextromethorphan for fibromyalgia pain. I was able to go to bed and get out of bed without any pain. I had almost forgotten what it was like to be pain-free. After much research on the active ingredient in Delsym, it was confirmed that dextromethorphan does block pain receptors in the brain. I continued to take the recommended dosage at 10 AM and at 10 PM. After about a month, it seemed I was more tired than usual. I cut the dosage back to just once at 10 PM and was hopeful that would help with me being tired. Yes, it was better, but still too tired every day. I have stopped Delsym completely. My pain is back in full fibromyalgia force, but being tired has gotten much better. So, do I want to be tired all the time, or do I want to deal with pain all the time? I haven't decided that yet."

"One of the most horrible drugs I've taken in my life. Mind you, it was very effective at suppressing the cough, but it gave me vertigo like no tomorrow. I had huge dilated pupils, severe dizziness, vertigo (cannot walk unassisted), confusion, and retrograde amnesia. I had to take one day off work plus the whole weekend to lay in bed trying to fight the dizziness. It is now the 4th day since I took the drug (extended-release pill x 3 doses), and I'm still fighting the side effects. It has severely impaired my ability to concentrate at work, and I do not recommend this for anybody."

Dextromethorphan "Severe coughing and cold, tried other over-the-counter cough and cold products. The only product that really worked was Buckley's Cough Mixture, and I did not experience any side effects. I recommended it to many people, and it worked for them. Now we can't find it anywhere."

Dextromethorphan "Recommended by pharmacist for persistent dry cough. Took about 1 hour to notice any difference. Then it seemed to virtually stop the cough. I stuck to the twice-a-day measuring cup instructions and was very pleased with the result. It did not completely stop the cough but stopped it from being a constant problem. Would recommend for dry coughs. None of the drowsiness that some other cough medicines induce."

Dextromethorphan "Boy, do I wish I had read the reviews on this medicine BEFORE I took it! I have been sick for a week with a nasty virus and finally broke down late last night and took a dose of Delsym. I admit it stopped my cough in its tracks, but I woke up six hours later with such bad diarrhea, it was like my keister had sprouted a fountain. My husband took it and within a short time developed terrible chills. I think, from this point forward, I will just deal with the cough."

Dextromethorphan "I took this syrup after my dinner and woke up with a heavy head and dizziness, and it only got worse by the afternoon. To an extent that if I close my eyes, everything will start spinning. It's more than 24 hours now, and I am still facing this issue. Will never recommend this to anyone."

Dextromethorphan "A lot of negative reviews here. I find Delsym to be very effective treating my cough. No symptoms of diarrhea at all. Of course, I don't take it on an empty stomach. Anyway, pretty good stuff in my opinion."

Dextromethorphan "My 9-year-old son had a severe cough. The doctor has always recommended this cough medicine. My son was very dizzy and felt horrible after one dose. 24 hours later, his pupils are still enlarged. I will never use this medicine again."

Dextromethorphan "I honestly wasn't sure if it was the medication that did this to me until I just almost took it again and decided to read reviews. A couple of hours after I took it, I woke up three different times due to extreme stomach pain. The third time I decided to try to go to the bathroom. My stomach hurt so bad that I felt like the muscles in my stomach were just stuck tight. I felt like I couldn't even go to the bathroom because it hurt so bad. After having extreme pain and diarrhea, I started getting chills, lightheaded, and swearing profusely. I seriously thought I was going to die and started dialing 911 before laying on my bathroom floor for a couple of minutes, and it stopped. I wasn't even sure if it was the medication before reading all these."

Dextromethorphan "I am so confused about the explosive diarrhea reviews. Long story short, I got something last week that was more than just a common cold. Started with the usual scratchy throat, but by day 3, the cough was so unbearable that I later found out at urgent care I cracked a rib from coughing so hard. They gave me RX cough syrup, which I only took once since the codeine in it made me throw up violently (not fun with a cracked rib). Picked up some Delsym around 1 am at the pharmacy and actually slept for about 6 hours. Had to go to work the next morning and took my Delsym with me. Didn't need to take another dose until about noon. I truly feel like this medicine saved my other ribs from my own abuse! Try it once before assuming you'll poop your pants."

Dextromethorphan "I started taking this medicine a week ago for a sinus infection-related cough. I noticed more anxiety and doing a lot of running to the bathroom. Dextromethorphan "Went to urgent care, and the doctor recommended Delsym. He warned me it can cause diarrhea, so to take Imodium with it to counteract it. It definitely helped suppress the cough and tasted much better than NyQuil. (That contains Benadryl and Tylenol.)"

Dextromethorphan "Did absolutely nothing to alleviate my cough. And now I am feeling slightly nauseated. I actually think my cough was better before taking it, as at least the hacking was removing phlegm. Now it's a useless dry cough that is just as painful to my poor abused ribs. Thankfully, I haven't noticed any warning signs of diarrhea. Hopefully, it'll stay that way. Overall, this product was an unsatisfying waste of my money and time."

Dextromethorphan "First time trying this cough medicine. Had a persistent cough for more than 2 weeks, so I decided to try it as I hadn’t been sleeping well due to my persistent coughing. The medicine works great on getting rid of the cough, however, it comes with the side effect of feeling drunk yet high at the same time. I am very lethargic initially an hour after taking it. However, then I have this mental clarity phase where I become very focused and productive about 5 to 6 hours after taking the medicine. I will continue to use it for my cough as it works and because I don’t mind the side effects."

Dextromethorphan "Every time there's a virus or allergies in the air due to having asthma, I usually end up catching bronchitis from it, and these, by far, are the only thing that really helps the coughing. Not to mention, I've tried a lot of other cough suppressants, even prescriptions, and these truly do help better than any I've found! I would definitely recommend trying them!"

Dextromethorphan "This did stop my cough all night after suffering from a terrible cough for 5 days, but I have severe watery diarrhea a short time after taking it. My husband had the same cough, and it stopped his cough, too, luckily, he did not get diarrhea. The grape flavor tasted pretty good. Imodium stopped my diarrhea with 2 doses. I will save the rest of the bottle for him, but not for me."

Dextromethorphan "Due to a medical condition, I was told this was the safest cough suppressant for me to take. I took it before bed and woke up in the middle of the night extremely nauseous. Although it did suppress my cough, I can do without the nausea!"

"I took Delsym for a cough that was bothering me. It didn't stop the cough, but within a half hour, I had terrible diarrhea. At first, I didn't make the connection, but the next morning, I tried it again and got the same results. It's a waste of money, and there are no redeeming qualities to it."

Dextromethorphan "I found this page, and everything clicked just two days too late. While my cough went away, the first night I woke up with severe cramping and the worst diarrhea of my life and was unable to hold food down for 12 hours. Then I took the medicine the next night and woke up to constant severe cramping to the point of skipping all my meals and popping Pepto until the 12-hour mark when I was able to hold down a bagel. Thank God I searched this tonight because I was about to take it again! It is not expired, but rather a painful fast track to a cleanse. Never touching it again."
