Ciprofloxacin "I've taken this medicine about 7 times. It works well for the UTI, and prior to taking it this last time I had little side effects. This last time, however, was horrible. I couldn't sleep (not even a wink!) was shaky, felt like I couldn't walk, sore everywhere, headaches from hell... all of these effects started to happen on the 5th day... the 7th day (last day) was the worst and continued for the next week. I like this medicine because it works for the UTI, but I will not take it again. The side effects are scary."

Ciprofloxacin "I have taken Cipro many times, but only 250mg at a time. Taken 2 times a day. Maybe these other people that were on 500mg were on too high a dose. I've never had a bad experience with it, only relief & stopped the UTI. I can't take a sulfa med because I'm allergic to it. So this works. I was on it for 5 days."

"Ok, I had a horrible UTI. I was in excruciating pain and screaming every time I had to pee. I was prescribed Cipro, but made the mistake of reading the bad reviews on here before taking. I worried myself into a full-blown panic attack over the side effects people claimed and held off on taking the medicine out of fear. It was a huge mistake. I suffered for days for nothing and ended up having the infection start in my kidneys!!! I was so freaked out by the bad reviews that I only took the first dose after the pain was in my back and I was feeling sick. I even sat in the hospital parking lot because these bad reviews had me so scared the pills were going to kill me! Day 2 of meds, no side effects whatsoever!!! I take a probiotic in between my doses, which is 250mg 2x a day. It keeps the gastric symptoms at bay. The pain was all but gone from my back, stomach, and no more fire pee after the first dose! Do not read these reviews and torture yourself thinking you will have a horrific reaction!"

Ciprofloxacin "This is a miracle pill! It works for UTIs. As a little girl up until now, and I'm 29, I've always got UTIs, especially in my early 20s every month literally. After meeting with the specialist who prescribed me Cipro, he said take 1 pill when you feel the symptoms, and ever since then, I feel my UTIs are under control. I've got 2-3 per year, which is amazing for me considering I've been getting these my whole life. I can't be more pleased! I had no side effects from the pill. Thank you, doctor, for this prescription! Happy patient."

Ciprofloxacin "I had a UTI two years ago, and I prescribed myself Cipro. It was a very painful UTI. I felt better in less than 24 hours. Cipro is an amazing antibiotic for UTIs. I never had any side effects. Reading others' experiences is scary. I am currently on Cipro again since yesterday because I have a UTI again. 500 mg every 12 hours. I have had 3 pills so far. No noticeable side effects. I don't feel improvement yet. I hope my UTI clears up completely by the end of the treatment course (5 days)."

Ciprofloxacin "I was seen in the local ER for a UTI. I was taking Macrobid, but it didn't work. So the ER doctor gave me Cipro 500 mg twice a day for five days. The only side effect is weird dreams and thirst. This medication works!"

Ciprofloxacin "I unfortunately got a UTI during a trip in Bali and was prescribed Cipro 500 for a 10-day course from a clinic here. My doctor back home said to try it for 3 days and if I still have problems, push it to 5 days. I HATE taking meds, so after reading a ton of reviews and side effects for this drug, I was very hesitant to take it. I waited 3 days until I couldn’t take it anymore and was in unbearable pain to finally start the course. I felt so much better day 1 and fortunately, day 3 I’m feeling back to normal and luckily no major side effects except slight itchiness all over within the first few hours and a little bit of chest pressure (probably anxiety from taking this!). I actually felt more alert than normal. I’m going to stop today and hopefully will remain feeling good. I am rating this an 8 because it’s a heavy-duty antibiotic and I think there are other choices I could’ve taken that aren’t as strong for an uncomplicated UTI - but that’s all they had available here."

Ciprofloxacin "I took Cipro for a UTI. It worked great. I took 750 mg twice a day for 10 days, and it worked perfectly. After the first dose, I started feeling relief from my UTI symptoms (frequent urge, slight incontinence, shy bladder, etc.). I gave Cipro a thumbs up. Ciprofloxacin "Great medication for curing UTI, but the side effects are horrendous and not worth it. After 3 days, tendon pain in my heels and pain and tingling in my feet made it almost impossible to walk. The doctor took me off immediately, and now, more than 3 months later, the pain is finally beginning to subside. I've never suffered side effects from any medication when younger, but now at 65, I have to be extremely careful."

Ciprofloxacin "I used Cipro for a urinary tract infection. I do not usually get urinary tract infections. The first night I took it, I felt better by the next morning. It took a few hours before I felt better where I didn't have to go to the bathroom every 3 minutes, but it let me sleep and by the next day, that burning sensation had gone away. The only side effect was I felt nauseated and sluggish the first day. After that, it was great to get back to normal."

Ciprofloxacin "Amazing! I’m 19 from the UK and was getting recurrent UTIs no matter what I did to prevent them. Two rounds of nitrofurantoin and trimethoprim didn’t do the trick, and symptoms were awful and in a lot of pain/discomfort. Was making me so miserable. Doc put me on a week-long course of Cipro, and I felt so much better after the first dose! So happy! Don’t let the side effects scare you, and to be honest, even if I did happen to get side effects, it is a balancing act of relief or side effects anytime you take meds. Still got a few days left of taking it, but I’m so glad how well this has worked in only the first dose! Hoping I never get one of these again, and I hope all these bad reviews don’t put anyone off, lol x."

Ciprofloxacin "I had UTI for 13 days and I was too much worried about it. It was a very painful experience when urinating. So I searched out and chose the Cipro. I had taken 2 pills, 250 mg in 24 hours. Believe me, I had not noticed any side effect of this medicine except a minor headache and I feel 70% better than before. It works for me and I hope I will recover 100% with time. Scary reviews were scaring me but it's different for me. Thank God."

Ciprofloxacin "Prescribed Cipro for a urinary tract infection, 500 mg, 1 every 12 hrs. I noticed a great difference after 2 pills. It made me feel a little sick still after 3 days, so I started breaking the tablet in half to help with the blah feeling. It works great for urinary tract infection."

Ciprofloxacin "This medication worked quickly for me, and I had no side effects. I took 500 mg for 7 days. I had a horrible UTI where my urine smelled absolutely rancid. Within 48 hrs, this medication took away the terrible smell and provided me relief. I’m so grateful, thank you!"

Ciprofloxacin "Not a fan. Went to urgent care for a particularly painful UTI and was prescribed Cipro and immediately took the first dose. The plus side is it started working almost immediately. 24 hours later and I'm about 90% better already. However, after taking the second pill, I developed some slight nausea and then, several hours later, noticed some muscle pain in my calves and behind my knees, and it has now spread to my shoulders and wrists. After reading that Cipro can cause serious and permanent damage, I quit using it immediately and asked to be switched to a different antibiotic. Not worth it!"

Ciprofloxacin "Cipro works well for me without incurring any noticeable negative side effects. Strangely, though, I get many of the terrible side effects described by some here when taking levofloxacin - the insomnia, the crippling panic attacks, etc. It just goes to show, I suppose, how differently these meds affect different individuals."

Ciprofloxacin "Took Cipro two separate times for UTI, but still had the infection after completing each course exactly as prescribed. I avoided dairy per instructions and took each tablet 12 hours apart. Both times after Cipro failed, my doctor then prescribed a three-day course of Levaquin, which worked perfectly."

Ciprofloxacin "This drug (Cipro) caused me irreversible joint damage after 2 pills. It also caused weakness, high blood pressure, and mental changes. I was weak and unstable for months after use. Years later, I still have joint damage. I would NOT recommend, even though it did clear my UTI. This drug should be used as a last resort, only in a life or death situation when permanent joint damage is better than the alternative."

Ciprofloxacin "I took Cipro for a severe UTI that did not respond to treatment with Amox-Clav. It worked quickly and had no side effects. I think the horror stories on this page are the extreme reactions and not the norm. Everybody is different. Worked great for me."

Ciprofloxacin "I had a urinary tract infection, which unfortunately went up to my kidneys, so my MD prescribed Cipro. I already felt better after 2 days of taking it, however, I was getting terrible headaches that do not go away even if I take over-the-counter meds. That's the least of my worries, though, as long as my infection got treated."

Ciprofloxacin "I had a UTI with some blood showing in my urine prior to taking two 500 mg Cipro tabs a day, which I took for 3-4 days. I went for a short 1/2 mile walk. Toward the end of the walk, I started limping as my right inner foot arch was becoming more and more painful to the point I couldn't walk efficiently anymore. I limped back home trying to figure out why I was having all the pain in my foot, as I didn't twist or turn it or anything like that. I stopped taking the Cipro, and the tendon pain in my foot lessened each day. Cipro removed the infection, but it left me with permanent plantar fascia tendon damage in my foot. I wouldn't recommend Cipro to anyone. The first side effect listed is causes tendon damage-ruptures. Not good people/FDA."

Ciprofloxacin "It was effective for my bladder infection, but the side effects are not good. After 3 days of medication, I developed severe pain in my Achilles tendon and both ankles. It continues to this day, 2 months later. I've also developed severe pain (tendonitis?) in my elbows. I never had this pain before taking Cipro."

Ciprofloxacin "I was put on Cipro to treat a urinary tract infection. I was already on a medication that suppressed my immune system, and even though the Cipro did wonders for my UTI, the side effects were unbearable. I was directed to take 1 250 mg tab twice daily for 3 days. I was only able to get through the first 2 days. The side effects ranged from what was a mild headache the first day to a severe headache the second day, accompanied by muscle pain, joint aches, shortness of breath, and even chest palpitations on the right side. I went in to see my doc, and he said to come off them because even though they worked well for my UTI, my body was clearly unable to tolerate the side effects. Overall, I say the medicine is very effective but is also strong, so beware of side effects."

Ciprofloxacin "I had kidney pain. Back back. Pain that went down to my leg, and I couldn't sleep. Thought it was from maybe overdrinking, so I drank a lot of water, but 7 days later, after eating only vegetables and fruits and taking cranberry juice and antioxidants, I went to the doctor. After my first pill, the pressure was gone, and after the second pill (500 mg), the pain was gone. It works!! No side effects other than slight nausea, but that's nothing compared to one week of pain and sleepless nights."

Ciprofloxacin "I have a bad UTI and was doubled over in severe pain. After the first pill of Cipro (500 mg), the pain has lessened dramatically. I'm shocked it worked so quickly! However, all antibiotics make me nauseous and fatigued, but I'll take that over severe pain."
