"On the first day, I felt very nervous and lots of anxiety. I have very weird dreams and felt like throwing up all the time. By the third day, I was so anxious that I had a severe panic attack. I thought I was going to pass out, and my heart was racing so fast I thought I was going to have a heart attack. I called for a new medication and was given another one that I reacted the same with, so I called again and asked for amoxicillin."

Ciprofloxacin "I was lucky enough to get most of the side effects from this drug. For the first two weeks, I lost my ability to walk. My entire body went numb (including my face), I had crippling anxiety, insane nightmares, and all of my major tendons were damaged. I had so much fatigue that I slept 18 hours a day. Thankfully, I was only sick for four months, but I lost my job and had to move back in with my parents. Now, I am okay. 0/10 would recommend. Even if you don't get a reaction the first time you take it, it is NOT WORTH TAKING. My friend's Achilles heels ruptured after her fifteenth round having no problems before that. Take another antibiotic or eat some garlic. I had $3,000 in medical bills."

Ciprofloxacin "I took Cipro for a UTI about a year ago and had absolutely no problems. Pain and urgency to pee subsided after the second dose, if I recall correctly. Two days ago, I felt the symptoms of a UTI creep up on me, and today I just started Cipro again. Hoping I have no side effects this time either!"

"First sign: rusty/red colored urine... No indication that there was a problem occurring. I have a history of staghorn kidney stones, so was concerned. Test showed bacterial infection. 3 meds over several days. The last Cipro did the trick... urine cleared by the 5th day (out of a course of 7 days). I repeat, no UTI symptoms of any kind, other than color in urine. I will mention that I am almost 86 years old and, as a young adult, have had my share of UTIs. Grateful for this medicine."

Ciprofloxacin "I'm 28, and since I have had my first baby, I have had nonstop UTIs. They have prescribed Cipro almost every time, and now the last several times Cipro has only reduced my UTI symptoms for a matter of days before it comes back full swing. I've had this current UTI for years now and somehow have not gotten sepsis by now. It's always the same E. coli when cultured, even the same exact number every time. I hope there's something else that will work for me soon. I'm tired of the symptoms and kidney pain."

Ciprofloxacin "I started experiencing side effects right after I took my last pill. I was prescribed 500 mg 2x daily for 14 days. This was the first drug my urologist prescribed for prostatitis. Now, 3 days later, foot and leg pain. This drug should not be used as the first option. It should be used only for severe issues. I misplaced my pamphlet, so I was unaware of the dangers. It should be a requirement that an FDA black box drug should be marked on the bottle with details in the pamphlet. I would have never taken this drug had I read what the possible side effects were. The sad part, no one knows how to treat the side effects, and they could be permanent."

Ciprofloxacin "At first, I was terrified to use this medication for my UTI based off of reviews. Currently on pill #4 for my UTI and am feeling almost 100% better. No bad side effects from the drug other than a few migraines."

Ciprofloxacin "I was poisoned by this medication. It got rid of my infection but at the risk of my health. After four days of taking it, my knees started hurting, and it went to my elbows. After I stopped taking it (a year ago), I was in terrible chronic pain, and I’m still fighting off the symptoms of fluoroquinolone toxicity syndrome to this day. I am an artist, and I couldn't draw for months, and I couldn’t make money. The worst part of it is I still can’t get any answers. I’d rather have my UTI back than ever take this again."

Ciprofloxacin "Side effects were unbearable for my girlfriend, so she stopped after only 1.5 days. She suffered from headaches, vomiting, achy all over, stomach pains, and a bad taste in her mouth. It seemed to help with the infection, but at the end of the dosage cycle, she was feeling much better. In 45 minutes after taking a pill, it made her feel so sick again."

Ciprofloxacin "I was prescribed a 10-day course of Cipro, 2 pills a day for suspected UTI/prostatitis. Within hours of the first dose, the constant urge to urinate went away completely. Unfortunately, the symptoms came back within 12 hours of my last dose, so the Cipro was unable to clear the infection. That said, I experienced zero side effects while taking it. 40 y.o. Male."

Ciprofloxacin "I will never take Cipro again. After the 3rd pill, I developed tingling in my hands, legs, and feet. I stopped taking it, but the symptoms still persist. I cannot sleep at night, and the tingling is constant. I've read this is called being 'floxied' and is more common than you might think. I am seeing a naturopathic doctor next week to try to reverse these awful side effects. Don't take Cipro!"

Ciprofloxacin "DO NOT TAKE CIPRO! I'd give this garbage a negative 10 if I could! Read all the possible side effects, then ask yourself if you're willing to risk contracting many of them, no matter whether a doctor tells you the odds of those happening are slim, rare, etc. In my case, I was given this junk 4 different times within a year, around 60 pills total. I developed peripheral neuropathy shortly after that, which means that all of my extremities are becoming more and more numb, after the paresthesia (intense tingling and pain) stopped because I don't feel it anymore. I can still feel pressure in my head, hands, and feet, but when they are lightly touched or stroked? Nothing. I've seen 3 neurologists, two said it was simply coincidence. I fired them. The guy I still see said it was probably the Cipro that damaged me, but unfortunately, he can't directly correlate them, so he would only be a 'maybe' if I sue everyone responsible. But I'm still checking into it. Please say no to Cipro."

Ciprofloxacin "I found out I had a UTI a week after I had my annual physical examination. I did not get my prescription until a week later, so I would assume I had the UTI for two weeks to a month. Doc prescribed me to take two 500 mg daily. The side effects suck. Night one, I did not sleep. I took a 3-hour nap and was up for 16 hours. Day two's morning dose had me nauseous. I just took my night dose, so hopefully the side effects won't be bad. My UTI symptoms went away within my first dosage (slight pressure, cloudy urine, sensitivity)."

Ciprofloxacin "Cipro carries a black box warning related to potential neurological adverse effects. I was unaware of this the last time I took Cipro for a simple UTI. Within 3 hours of the first dose, I began experiencing tingling on my left side (I thought I was having a stroke!). I stopped the Cipro immediately. But the damage was done - I experienced occasional nerve tingling for 6 months. Luckily for me, the nerve damage was not permanent. It goes without saying I'll never take another drug in the fluoroquinolone family again."

Ciprofloxacin "Do not take this drug unless you're near death, exposed to anthrax, or contracted the plague; seriously, that's what it's meant for. I took ONE pill of this and developed horrible popping in all joints, knee/leg/shoulder pain. The worst was the ER visit that followed 48 hours later, because I had rapid swelling in the eyes and light sensitivity with blurred vision. The scariest day of my life happened because of ONE pill of this poison. This awful medicine has a black box warning from the FDA and should not be given for basic infections."

Ciprofloxacin "Am currently taking Cipro to deal with a UTI. Had one about a month ago, took Cipro, it seemed to go away, but now it's back with a vengeance. But I'm taking it with great reluctance. It used to be my ENT's go-to drug for sinus infections, which I would typically get twice a year (allergy induced). Then, about 4 years after first taking the drug, I woke up one morning and my right foot totally collapsed due to tendon rupture. Zero arch. At the time (1990), there weren't any tendon warnings with the drug and no one could explain how tendons could rupture overnight. Now my podiatrist attributes the event to the Cipro. I have to wear a Richie brace on that foot/ankle."

Ciprofloxacin "I have been getting urinary tract infections since I was a small child, and the only antibiotic that has worked for me 100% of the time is Cipro. I have never had any side effects, but I am not sensitive to any medicines that I am aware of. I also use AZO Maximum Strength for the pain as an alternative to Pyridium, although if I have a prescription, Pyridium is actually cheaper (with insurance) than purchasing AZO."

Ciprofloxacin "I took Cipro for five days and had to stop. I can say that it took the symptoms of the urinary tract infection away and made me feel better that way. On the other hand, it really aggravated some inflammatory conditions that I have had under control for a long period of time."

"Please do not take this. I was a 24-year-old healthy female and had a simple UTI. My doctor prescribed me Cipro for 3 days, twice a day. The 3 days I took this, I thought I was on another planet. I was walking around my house, bumping into walls, and my arms and legs felt numb and tingly. Two weeks later, and I am sure this has poisoned me. I have vertigo when lying in bed and have to sit up because I feel as though I'm going to be sick. I wake up having extreme nightmares and terrors that make me throw myself from one side of the bed to the other. My arms and legs are in constant pain-stabbing pains, tingling, numbness. My vision has been affected, and I'm constantly seeing black patches out of the corners of my eye. I look to see if something's there, and there isn't. I genuinely feel as though I'm going mental-I'm scared as anything after reading the reviews that this is my life now. Please do not take this for UTI or kidney infection-there are other medications out there."

Ciprofloxacin "I was scared to take Cipro. I really freak out when I have to take medication. But I did with the support of friends, and it works great for urinary tract infections with the first dose. I do have heartburn and gas, but I'm still taking it, and I will add a Zantac and Gas-X tomorrow."

Ciprofloxacin "This was prescribed for my son who has cerebral palsy and is confined to a wheelchair. He became swollen in his legs, ankles, and feet. Took for 48 hours and discontinued as the swelling progressed. Rushed to MD, had to take a different medicine (Macrobid). Thankfully, the swelling subsided in a few days. I have read many horror stories about the side effects of this medicine - some permanent! I do not recommend. Please keep in mind that a urine sample should always be cultured, not just tested with a dipstick, as the treatment really depends on the type of bacteria that's causing the UTI."

Ciprofloxacin "I was given the pill 2 times per day at 500 mg. I am in my early 30s and feeling still overall blah on the 4th day of the meds. Feeling numb on my feet and nausea after taking the pill. I am on no other medications. Normally I rarely remember my dreams, but the last two nights I have had horrible nightmares."

Ciprofloxacin "I was prescribed this medication for twice a day for 10 days, and on day 5, I had a tremor in my right hand, and right after, my right arm and leg went numb. It was horrifying to experience, especially because I am currently under getting a diagnosis if there is something wrong with my heart. So I didn't know if it was the pills or my heart until I started doing more research on the pill, and tremors were a serious side effect. Yes, I feel my UTI has gone away, but I would NOT take it again, and I am still currently taking them, but I'm going to talk with my doctor because I no longer want to use these drugs. Besides the tremor and numbness, I also became very tired, had headaches, muscle pains, and nausea. Truly terrible to feel this way. I do not recommend."

"I didn't expect this drug, ciprofloxacin, to work for my UTI, but it did. My symptoms went away within 2 days of taking Cipro. My rating is based on effectiveness, and plus, the side effects were almost non-existent for me. This cured my UTI, whereas nitrofurantoin and cephalexin did not work for me. I was initially hesitant about taking Cipro due to the negative reviews online. I must note three things: do not take dairy with this drug, I did feel mild muscle spasm in my leg/thigh area, and lastly, I experienced sleeplessness whilst taking this drug."

"I am 21, and I am extremely disappointed that I even took one pill. Since taking the pill, I have been experiencing dizziness and heart palpitations, had to revisit the ER literally the day after being prescribed this, and now need to be given a little heart monitor for 2 days. I have awful anxiety, and the side effects of this are bad anxiety?? I’m not even sure why I was prescribed this for my UTI if the side effects are so bad. I am upset at the lack of attention from the doctor at my local ER for not thinking this through. I am doing everything I can to get this out of my system, and I am NEVER taking this again."
