For Muscle Spasm "Works excellent for sleep. I have chronic neck pain and I am allowed to take this 4 times a day, 4 mg. However, it knocks me out and makes me very dizzy and just off. So unless I'm really hurting or have time for a nap, I only take it at night."

For Muscle Spasm "I've been on the medication tizanidine now for 2 years. It works great for my neck spasms and headache, as long as I take it with the other meds I'm prescribed. Taking it alone is like taking an aspirin. I've had no side effects at all thus far."

Tizanidine for Muscle Spasm "Zanaflex was working well for my lower back, which has been an issue since a car accident in Oct of 2013. This has progressed to a point where I am waiting for an M.R.I. During the last 3 months, I have been dealing with spasms in my left leg that went from annoying and limiting my ability to move around slightly to full-blown, unbelievably painful leg spasms. The medication is no longer working. I am going to call my doctor on Monday and ask about Soma since it seems to have a much better score when it comes to stopping spasms."

For Muscle Spasm "My experience with this medication for my chronic low back pain was awful. As noted in another user's review, I had the same terrible reaction. As if I was sleeping, but my eyes were open and I couldn’t move a single part of my body or even speak a word, but my brain wanted to! I literally could not even lift my head off the pillow, as much as I knew I had to. I was prescribed this by a neurologist after minimal results on Flexeril. I also take 2400 mg of gabapentin, which has taken me months to baby step my way onto that amount, it helps tremendously but at an expense to my cognitive function. Anyway, back to Flexeril I suppose or onto another script with high hopes! Cymbalta was also horrific, horrific, horrific."

Tizanidine for Muscle Spasm "I've been suffering with severe muscle spasms in my neck, back, chest, and shoulder since a whiplash incident 1.5 years ago. Other medicines previously prescribed include Soma and Flexeril, but the results were insubstantial. I received substantial relief the first time I used Zanaflex and finally feel like I might be able to learn to live with this condition."

Tizanidine for Muscle Spasm "I also have taken many muscle relaxants, including soma. When my doctor suggested this medicine to me, I made sure that it was not a narcotic and habit-forming. It is not. This has really been a blessing for me. It still makes me sleepy, but if taken with food, wow, it works!"

For Muscle Spasm "My GP prescribed this for neck cramps from sitting in front of a PC monitor so much. Works great for that. However, it also works wonders for my lower and mid back pains, aches, and spasms. I take 2 mg a couple of times during the day and 4 mg about 30 minutes before bed. If I am having really bad back pain, I'll take 4 mg 3-4 times during the day. I do have some pretty vivid dreams, some bizarre, but few horrid dreams. Overall, this is wonderful medicine for my ailments!"

For Muscle Spasm "I have been taking tizanidine for 2 weeks, 4 mg tablets, they calm the spasm in my lower back. I had an L4/5 discectomy due to pressure on my spine from a lifting and turning injury, causing pain in one leg and one testicle. The surgery results were good, but after a hard day at work, I have muscle spasms and pain in my lower back. This seems to help, but it does make me fall asleep, so I only take 4 mg before bed. It seems to be my bedtime buddy."

For Muscle Spasm "I was prescribed this for numerous symptoms. I’m in the process of being diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder, and I experience full body pain that nothing else touches, difficulty sleeping, and migraine-like headaches. This medication has helped me tremendously. I can only take it at night as it does make me extremely sleepy. And if I take it too late in the evening, I have a difficult time waking up on time."

For Muscle Spasm "The doctor put me on this medicine a couple of weeks ago. They seem to help with my muscle tightness in my back, but it makes me very sleepy, so I can't really take it during the day. I take it about 30 mins to an hour before bed and sleep well, but it gives me very disturbing, scary dreams. I thought maybe it was from the other medicines I take, but apparently I'm not the only one who has bad dreams when taken."

For Muscle Spasm "I have been taking Tizanidine for almost 4 years now. It has been a lifesaver for me and given me mobility again. However, the Apotex Corp. brand of Tizanidine is a very disappointing display of their lack of quality medications in this area. Horribly under the standards of other companies that supply this same medication. I'm better off drinking water than taking any Tizanidine supplied by this company."

For Muscle Spasm "So the doctor decided to prescribe me this when I had pneumonia. Then moved me up dosage and then told me to stop taking it. I ended up with horrible electric shock symptoms permanent. I tried going back on it and weaning myself off. I have had every test known to man, and the doctor finally admitted to it being from the medicine. As I am having these electric shock sensations, it makes my muscle super sore and is horrible to live with this. So to keep the pain and shocks down, I am 29 years old and am taking 4 Tramadol a day. I wanted to warn people that this is a real problem that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy."

Tizanidine for Muscle Spasm "Been taking this for months for DDD/DJD (neck). I notice severe pain when I don't take this nightly but still have muscle pain even when I do. Main side effect is severe grogginess and dry mouth/hungover feeling. I have to be in bed about 20 mins after taking it or I am walking into walls, literally. I have to drink a lot of water before bed to combat the hungover feeling. Recently switched back to Flexeril. Have also taken Robaxin, but that didn't help much either. I get headaches when I take Tramadol and any narcotic, so I take Tylenol during the day."

For Muscle Spasm "Was prescribed tizanidine after being involved in a serious auto accident. Seemed to help with my lower back pain. Be careful because it will definitely put you to sleep. I passed out straight away at night."

Tizanidine for Muscle Spasm "I have disc disease. I take 4 mg only at night. It knocks me out. This is the only medicine that has helped with my pain and my muscle spasms. I sleep well all night, and it lasts through until the next day. I've only been taking it for 3 days. Finally, I've found a good muscle relaxer. The only side effect I have noticed is dry mouth. I think it is great."

For Muscle Spasm "Tried Flexeril with no real improvement and switched to Zanaflex. I thought it was great for sleep for about a month until I dropped to the floor for no apparent reason. Took my blood pressure and was surprised that I was still alive, it was so very low. I normally have high BP, so that was some drop! I handled the situation by taking a BP reading first. If it was high, I could take 3/4 of a tablet or whole, lower BP meant half or quarter. After a year, that still works, but I’m noticing that it takes more and more to relieve the muscle, so I guess soon I will stop."

Tizanidine for Muscle Spasm "I have been taking Zanaflex for about a year now, and it has been wonderful for me. I have ankylosing spondylitis and fibromyalgia. I have a very hard time sleeping at night, but Zanaflex helps me sleep and keeps down the muscle pain."

For Muscle Spasm "Tizanidine was prescribed in 2015 to help relieve pain caused by spinal stenosis at the top and bottom of my spine. I am extremely tolerant of most drugs. One 2 mg tab was prescribed for 3 times a day. It seemed to relieve my pain just enough to help me sleep. I haven't had back pain for the 3 years I've taken it (as of 2018), and it still helps me sleep a little. I'm unsure whether the tizanidine is reducing my pain, or the stenosis is hibernating, but I'm not about to mess with success and intend to continue taking it. The drug seems somewhat effective and has no untoward side effects for me."

Tizanidine for Muscle Spasm "I was prescribed Zanaflex after breaking my left ankle, which caused muscle spasms in both legs and my lower back as I started walking again. The medication provided some relief from the spasms, but I encountered an unexpected side effect: temporary hearing loss in both ears. Initially, this alarmed me, but the hearing loss resolved after a few hours due to the drug's relatively short half-life. However, I still experience hearing abnormalities about 30 minutes after taking a dose. It's worth noting that somnolence (sleepiness) is a common side effect, but it doesn't concern me. I'm curious if others who have taken Zanaflex have also experienced temporary hearing loss as a side effect. While hearing abnormalities are not currently listed as a side effect, it may be beneficial to include them if others have had similar experiences."

For Muscle Spasm "I have been on this med for years and while it helps, the side effects are awful. I hallucinate, sleepwalk, carry on lucid conversations, eat (that's the worst one!), and by morning, I'm in pain again. There has got to be something better than this! Even Soma was better, but the lucid conversations, answering the phone, and answering the door were something that couldn't continue either. I've been off of the tizanidine for 2 weeks now and all of the side effects stopped, but I can't take the pain!"

Tizanidine for Muscle Spasm "I have been using Zanaflex since 2003. I suffer from chronic pain and spasms due to herniated discs in my neck and back. I have already had fusion done on my neck, and the pain and spasms never went away. That was due to the discs below the fusion herniated just after the surgery. I also have fibromyalgia. I am supposed to take 4 mg 3 times a day, but I only take it at night since it makes me sleepy most of the time, and I am already on Percocet and Savella. I need to function during the day. My doctor says I can take all 3 at bedtime if I want, but I have only taken 2 at a time. Dry mouth is a side effect, and sometimes I will have grogginess in the morning, but I found that it is mostly due to taking it so late and getting up early."

For Muscle Spasm "Dr. ordered 6 mg of this for back spasms because Flexeril was not doing the job. Had the most bizarre reaction to any medication I ever took. I've had allergic reactions before, but this was disturbing. Within 45 minutes of taking the 6 mg capsule, I could not open my eyes even though I tried. Then I started sweating profusely from every pore in my body. Then I became paralyzed! I tried to lift my arms and couldn't! My breathing became shallow, and I started hallucinating! I was finally able to get out of my chair and get into bed after 2 1/2 hours. This was a 'one and done' medication for me!"

For Muscle Spasm "I fell off a 10-foot ladder onto my left knee, resulting in a stage five tibia plateau fracture and broken tibia. Anyway, my muscles do get very tight. He prescribed 4 mg every eight hours as needed. I could feel the muscles relaxing, especially my calf, but I had hallucinations so bad I wound up in the hospital for three days. I mean, it was bad!! So bad they restrained me after I punched out five nurses. Seriously, I feel bad about that today, but it was the medication. I’ve taken Flexeril before, Soma helped someone so much, got me kind of loopy though. I’m sure not everyone experiences hallucinations, but it’s true I did. For me, it was so bad even in the hospital they called in psychiatry before I could even think of getting discharged. Praise God, by then the meds were out of my system. I can say Zanaflex never made me drowsy."

For Muscle Spasm "I have severe chronic fatigue syndrome. I sleep so much but barely got any real deep sleep. Add chronic pain and I no longer had a life. I'm only 31. I do not take strong addictive meds because I don't believe in them. However, I was prescribed this from my doctor: 1x 4 mg tabs at night, 1x 2 mg for naps during the day. I was sleeping 2-4 days straight before! Now I sleep less, but it's real sleep. 2 or 3 naps a week to sustain me, plus real 8 hrs at night. It's great. However, with research, I will be very careful with it and come off it slowly when I no longer need it. I don't believe in cure-all drugs. But this has given me a little piece of my life back! So far, so good."

For Muscle Spasm "After several years, tizanidine started to drop my blood pressure. I mean, my systolic pressure was 80 or less! I had to be taken off and switched to something else. The new drug doesn't work nearly as well for the muscle spasms. I understand tizanidine is a cousin to a blood pressure medicine. True?"
