"I know I left a review once before, but this medicine is truly the cure-all for me. I either get, or receive and cure horrible brain zaps from this drug. Haven't taken an SSRI in over 3 years. Rarely take 1 Klonopin. Doctors don't understand brain zaps yet, but they are horrible! I take it for insomnia primarily, then headaches and the brain zaps. Also, be careful not to let your blood pressure drop too low when taking tizanidine. That's a legitimate problem that I seem to survive nightly, except for some rare mornings when it gets too low. I have somewhat new nasal allergies and rosacea, and suddenly new joint pain at 39. My only cure-all is tizanidine, it really makes everything feel better and helps me sleep. I have had lower back pain for about 14 years, and it does nothing for that, but it's wondrous for falling asleep without waking up groggy and nixing my random ailments. Hope this is helpful for someone."

Tizanidine for Muscle Spasm "Have ruptured disks in my lower back L4, L5. This is the best muscle relaxer for me, I have taken almost all of them. Better than Valium and Soma and they were two of the better muscle relaxers I had taken before!"

For Muscle Spasm "Great for the lower back spasm I was experiencing. I was prescribed Dr. Reddy Tizanidine, 4 mg/8 hrs. I did not read the side effects, and the NP did not mention any. Upon taking it, about 30 minutes in, I was extremely thirsty, more than ever in my entire life. I laid down and fell almost instantly into the best sleep in a LONG time. However, it was a deeeeep sleep! I had one of the most horrific nightmares ever! I am not talking about just going to the store in my underwear kind of dream, I’m talking about bloody, horrible nightmares. These were so real and so vivid that I can STILL remember them 2 days later. I woke up and went to pee, 1 hour later vivid dream, pee, repeat all night. At one point, I even heard voices talking outside my house. I couldn’t understand what they were saying."

For Cluster Headaches "I suffer from tension headaches, migraines, cluster headaches, you name it. I take Fioricet when I feel a migraine coming on. Sometimes it doesn't help, and that's when I realize I have misjudged the type of headache I have at that time. As the symptoms progress to a classic cluster headache, I take between 4 to 8 mg of tizanidine, and in about 30 minutes, my pain goes from a 9 or 10 to a 2 or 3. Many of my headaches come from my neck and cervical spine issues. This medication helps the stiff, sore muscles in my neck and upper back, which goes along with some types of my headaches. Sometimes it's hard to tell as I go through a cycle of cluster headaches with other types mixed in. This medication, above all my other headache meds, is the most effective. It does have side effects of dry mouth and sedation. At night, the sedation is great, but it's tough to function during the day. I can take 2 mg without getting sleepy, but it's not enough to help sufficiently with the intense pain."

For Muscle Spasm "I was given tizanidine to help with back spasms from 2 herniated discs. Within 10-20 minutes of taking this, I was extremely tired. The first time I had the side effect, I would wake up a few hours into the night completely drenched in sweat, and it sounded like people were talking, which I live alone. I continued taking it with the same issue every night. After a week in, I woke up with hallucinations. I had never been so scared in my life, it lasted a good hour. I never took it again, and when reading up on it after, this is a common side effect. I just want to warn other people before taking this medicine."

For Muscle Spasm "A few years ago, an NP put me on 10 mg of baclofen, then later 20 mg. When I asked for something stronger a couple of years later, I was denied because most twenty-something-year-olds just wanted to get high, and if the pain was as bad as I claimed, I needed to see a specialist, which she knew I could not afford to do. I finally saved up enough money to afford a pain specialist and all the out-of-pocket expenses that were necessary to find out what was wrong. I was prescribed this medication. Within an hour of taking 4 mg at 8 pm, I was knocked out. I woke up at midnight, foggy and unable to fall asleep until 2 am. When I woke up at 7 am from a freakishly vivid nightmare, I was EVEN MORE groggy, which lasted until about 12 pm. I did everything to try to get out of this groggy state of mind, including chugging water to flush the medication out of my system, multiple cups of coffee, my prescribed ADD medication, and a cold shower. I had to wait it out."

For Muscle Spasm "My Pain Specialist prescribed this after multiple surgeries and diagnosis. I have the 4 mg tablet, but take 1 mg (the pills are scored into 1/4s) or more if needed. The 1 mg at bedtime helps to relax your muscles and you don't wake up exhausted. I have tried Soma, Flexeril, and Skelaxin in the past and Tizanidine works the best!"

Tizanidine for Muscle Spasm "My mother had taken this for years for leg cramps. She started having hallucinations. She started by having a dream every night for about a month that involved the same people. When she woke up in the morning, her dreams had become reality for her. I finally convinced her to go off the medication and now no more problems. Her cardiologist suggested she go off the medication about 6 months before."

Tizanidine for Cluster Headaches "This works great. I take it for back spasm but also for cluster headaches. I had a stroke several years ago at age 28, so I am limited in what medicines I can take due to my medical history. My doctor has me take more than I need for back spasm/pain. I was warned it would make me sleepy and usually does, but in that time my headache/pain goes away almost completely. It is wonderful, especially since it is not a controlled substance. I'd rather take this for both conditions than the 100mg Demerol every 4 hours I was on for several years. Not only don't I miss the injections, but since it does not have the side effects and addiction I can do more since I can think more clearly and function more."

Tizanidine for Muscle Spasm "Well, I really am satisfied with this medicine. I take it in combination with my pain medication. I was in a car accident two years ago, and aside from the pain meds helping me with pain, this is what actually allows the muscles themselves to relax so I can sleep better. The one I really can't stand is 'Flexeril'. I don't know what the deal is with that because, if anything, it makes all of my extremities 'jump'...like restless leg, but restless everywhere (the legs too). The big problem is actually I got a new pain doctor, but he only believes in one muscle relaxer and that's baclofen, which does absolutely NOTHING. His intern told me that I could take two at a time, and still nothing."

For Muscle Spasm "I use this for neck spasms and fibromyalgia. I was originally prescribed 4 mg twice daily, but found out quickly that taking it during the day made me feel like passing out, and I couldn't walk without falling. Plus, if I took it and couldn't nap, I felt awful. So, now (per my doctor's orders), I take 8 mg only at bed, and it relaxes me enough that I'm out like a light within 45 minutes. I do find that I wake myself up yelling at someone I was fighting with in a dream! It scares the bejeezus out of my cat! Lol. It really helps me sleep, which has been an issue for years because of the pain."

For Cluster Headaches "I have occipital neuralgia, my nerve pain has been horrible and exacerbated by insomnia. This medication has been the only one in 10 years to actually make me sleep without feeling groggy in the morning. I will say that you should take a minimal dose because I have felt slight hallucinations and like I’m having problems swallowing, although I feel that this is more of an anxiety than actual reality. I’m in the medical field, so I feel comfortable saying this. I have taken it too late at night and had difficulty walking the next day, which can be pretty scary. However, it is a muscle relaxer. Take as prescribed."

For Muscle Spasm "I developed a muscle spasm in my neck while taking Lamictal. Eventually, the spasm did not go away-it turned into an incredibly painful condition, Dystonia. The spasm has displaced my jaw and disabled me from being able to work. After developing problems with Flexeril and Cogentin, I was switched to Tizanidine. What a wonderful difference. Though the spasm or pain never stops, it reduced my involuntary movements to the point where they are not obvious, and the pain is also reduced. No bad side effects besides tiredness."

Tizanidine "I'm an active 51-year-old female with severe neck pain, especially on the right, and probably from playing too many games on Android. I have had trigger point injections, facet blocks, PT, massage, TENS, daily heat therapy, and a host of meds over the past several months. I also take Norco regularly. Soma did not help the neck pain. But this Zanaflex works very well to alleviate the neck pain quickly. I only take it if I don't have to drive (or be social) because of the dry mouth and grogginess. My brother, 29, takes it for his back pain and swears by it, too. I just wish I could get rid of the neck pain. I think it's also improved with my new exercise program: 30 minutes on the elliptical, stretches, crunches, and leg lifts, then machines."

For Cluster Headaches "Have been on Tizanidine 4 mg every night for about a year for migraine prophylaxis. Have tried so many meds over 25 years. Couldn’t afford Botox, even with my insurance, it was going to be $200 at least. This is the first med that has actually worked at decreasing the amount of headaches. Went from daily to maybe 2 or 3 a month. Still take Sumatriptan when I do get one, and that always works for me. This medicine is a lifesaver for me."

For Muscle Spasm "I take 8 mg a day. 2 mg in the morning and noon, and 4 mg in the evening. Effective in spasm relief and perfect for the night. Before, I was constantly tired, but unable to rest at night due to discomfort and pain in the neck. Now I am alert during the day with some exceptions. An hour after I take a 2 mg pill, I feel sleepy if I am relaxed, but if I am outside or active, sleepiness goes away. However, this does not apply to the 4 mg. After taking this dose, I am out."

"I've had migraines (chronic) for 25 years and have tried 30+ medications and multiple treatments. I've also seen multiple specialists. Zanaflex is the only medication that really works for me. I started at 2 mg, at bedtime and slowly increased to 4 mg, 3 times daily. The effectiveness doesn't last long (roughly 4 hours) but the dulling of pain, if only temporary, is worth it. The only side effect I've experienced throughout years of use is extreme drowsiness. The first dose of the day is the worst. It sometimes 'knocks me out.' I cannot drive or function well after taking it; roughly an hour after taking, I become a zombie and NEED a power nap. After that, I'm okay. I am so thankful for this medication; it's by no means a cure, but it has given me some relief where virtually nothing else has."

For Muscle Spasm "I first tried Tizanidine in 1992 in Egypt, where I used to live. It worked wonders for a neck strain I suffered from. It was sold under the name Sirdalud. When I came back to Canada, my general practitioner never heard of it and prescribed Flexeril, which gave me horrible side effects and no relief. I had a spinal cord injury three years ago, in 2015, and since then, I've been paralyzed. The muscle in my back “rolled” up my leg and would continue rolling up my back and down my chest, making my spine lurch forward that I would yelp in pain! My fentanyl for pain and hydromorphone wouldn’t even touch this pain. I searched on the internet about muscle relaxers, saw Tizanidine, and I instantly remembered Sirdalud from Egypt. The second day I was on Tizanidine, spasms at all, zero! This drug is a blessing for me, and the drowsiness is not that bad. I take 4mg twice a day. This drug has given my life back because if those muscle spasms continued, I would’ve ended my life for sure!"

Tizanidine for Muscle Spasm "MRI reveals badly blown out cervical disc at C4-5. Now, as long as I didn't do much, I wouldn't have much pain, but getting anything done (like yard work, working out with pushups, painting a wall, etc.) was another story and would leave me in severe pain. However, always THE NEXT DAY and for at least several days afterward (I never really felt the pain on the day of the activity). Then, my doctor gave me Zanaflex, and now I take one 4 mg tablet that night, the next day is pain-free! I haven't noticed any side effects, no next day grogginess, and even the quality of sleep is normal with pleasant dreaming, in fact, if anything, my dreams are slightly easier to remember, which shows plenty of REM."

Tizanidine for Muscle Spasm "This is the best medication by far. I was originally given this medication for migraine headaches, but in the process, it has helped me with my severe back pain. I can finally sleep through the night. The best."

Tizanidine for Muscle Spasm "I've been on Zanaflex for over a month now, and all I can say is it really makes me sleep well. I take pain medicines for chronic low back pain and also take sleep medicines to help me because the pain gets worse at night, keeping me up. I wasn't happy when they gave me this instead of Soma because I had great results with Soma. Now I can say I'm glad I did go on this medicine. I take 2 about 45 minutes before I want to turn in for the night. My spasms are relieved, and I can sleep through most of the night and wake without any hangover effects. I'm glad I have this now."

For Muscle Spasm "I have been taking Tizanidine for about 8 months, having read about it in a medical publication. I have fibromyalgia caused by a Chiari I malformation (no surgery), adrenal adenoma (excess cortisol), bilateral peripheral neuropathy, 6 damaged discs, hiatal hernia, narrow esophagus, nervous/acid stomach, IBS (had), severe pain in upper leg muscles, tight hamstrings on legs (had/is effectively treated by medications), RLS, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, sublaxity and double joints, POTS; vasoconstriction, Raynaud's-like feet, see stars with hands over head, fluctuations in BP. Tizanidine taken at night, 0.2 mg dosage, helps me fall into a relaxing sleep with storybook-type dreams. It complements my other drugs well, in my opinion."

Tizanidine for Muscle Spasm "I have been put on every muscle relaxant from Flexeril to Soma, and then my neurologist tried me on Zanaflex last week for the first time. I have to say, so far it's working pretty well. I feel a little drowsy, but hopefully that will pass as my system gets used to it. At this point with my MS, I am willing to try anything in order to feel better and not hurt all the time. I'm thinking we are on to something here. At least that's what I'm praying for."

For Cluster Headaches "I suffer from chronic migraine and cluster headache attacks. This medication seemed like a godsend the first few days. My muscles were so relaxed, I swear every bone in my back, neck, and shoulders cracked. However, this came with a huge price. This medication made me feel hopelessly suicidal. I also had a tight chest, vomiting, dizziness, feeling like I might pass out, and felt like I was fevering (chills!). I had mental/mood changes as well - I went between euphoria/manic feeling to agitated/angry and suicidal within minutes. The bad side effects only came about a week into treatment. For reference, I was taking 2 mg once at night per day. I am two days without it and still suffering side effects. Please proceed with caution as this medication can be dangerous."

For Muscle Spasm "I have excruciating muscle spasms in my back just on the left side and down my sciatic nerve in my left leg. I have been taking hydrocodone for quite a long time and it only barely did any good along with Flexeril. I finally found a neurologist and he took me off the Flexeril and gave me tizanidine in addition to gabapentin and the hydrocodone. It has been working really well in that I can now stand up long enough to cook dinner where, before, I had to sit down every few minutes just to be able to make a salad, let alone a whole meal. I can grocery shop for as long as it takes without having to go to the pharmacy area to sit and can again shop for clothing, household items and whatever I need for as long as I need. Anyone with hair loss?"
