Zanaflex (tizanidine) for Muscle Spasm "MRI reveals badly blown out cervical disc @ c4-5. Now, as long as I didn't do much, I wouldn't have much pain but getting anything done (like yardwork, working out with pushups, painting a wall...etc) was another story and would leave me in severe pain but always THE NEXT DAY and for at least several days afterward (I never really felt the pain on the day of the activity). Then, my doctor gave me Zanaflex, and now I take one 4 mg tab that night, the next day is pain free! I haven't noticed any side effects, no next day grogginess and even the quality of sleep is normal with pleasant dreaming; in fact, if anything my dreams are slightly easier to remember which shows plenty of REM."

For Muscle Spasm "Lower back pain after spinal fusion .After ups and downs with back pain resulting in have surgery, my neurosurgeon switched me from flexiril to zanaflex because I wasn't sleeping. I am on 4mg 3x daily and my experience so far has been good. I totally get good rest at night and I must say during the day my back doesn't feel like a concrete block lol. Movement like walking is more at ease too although I'm still a lil slow. I'm certainly glad my neurosurgeon switched me. Now gladly, I take the zanaflex with aleve...I'm off all narcotics. Overall I'd definitely recommend zanaflex :-)"

Zanaflex (tizanidine) for Muscle Spasm "This is the best medication by far. I was originally given this medication for migraine headaches but in the process it has helped me with my severe back pain. I can finally sleep through the night. The best."

Zanaflex (tizanidine) for Muscle Spasm "I also have taken many muscle relaxants, including soma. When my doctor suggested this medicine to me I made sure that it was not a narcotic and habit forming. It is not. This is really been a blessing for me. Still makes me sleepy, but if taken with food wow it works!"

For Muscle Spasm "Life saver!!!! This muscle relaxer is beyond amazing!!!! I take 4mg at bed time and within 45 minutes I'm feeling complete relief and fall asleep!!! I don't take a full pull during the day because I literally can't walk straight or fully function after taking a full dose. Works awesome for a sleep aid too!"

For Muscle Spasm "Worked great when I first started meds, but slowly had to increase dosage for relief. I have Fibromyalgia. I take 12 to 16 mg at night. I have started having hallucinations, terrible nightmares. It causes really bad dry mouth. Doesn't help me sleep anymore. Will see if there is something else out there."

For Cluster Headaches "Have been on Tizanadine 4 mg every night for about a year for migraine prophylaxis. Have tried so many meds over 25 years. Couldn’t afford Botox even with my insurance was going to be $200 at least. This is the first med that has actually worked at decreasing the amount of headaches. Went from daily to maybe 2 or 3 a month. Still take Sumatriptan when I do get one and that always works for me. This message is a life saver for me."

For Muscle Spasm "I had compressed discs in lumar and cervical spine. I was prescribed this to relax muscles and was ineffective, and caused fatigue, and hair loss - eventually 1/3 of my hair. Had to figure out on my own thru research on the web that this was a possible side effect - after just being told by Dr to take biotin. Hair loss stopped when stopped taking tizanidine, but no visible regrowth aft. 3 months."

Zanaflex (tizanidine) for Muscle Spasm "I have been on Zanflex for about 2 months and it has helped tremendously for migraines, which is caused from bulging discs in my neck. I am taking 4mg 3 times a day and suffering with only one side effect which is dry mouth. I really recommend this to other's with my condition."

For Muscle Spasm "Seen a neurologist for neck pain & daily headaches (for over 9 years now). I was told I have arthritis and muscle spasms, so I was prescribed tizanidine 2 × day. I told the doctor they don't work at all on me, so she upped it to 3 × day! Now I'm having so much weakness and intense headaches. This is not the medication for me! Soma is the ONLY muscle relaxer that's ever worked for me but my regular Dr will only allow me to be on them for a month (at the most)... and then I have to take a month off of them, before she'll prescribed them again! Now I'm off to get Botox Injections, in my neck and shoulders "

For Muscle Spasm "My doctor has just started me on Tizanidine. I can tell the difference already. I have already tried several different medicines for my lower back problems, but Tizanidine has eased the pain well enough for me to get to sleep at night and wake more rested in the morning."

Zanaflex (tizanidine) for Cluster Headaches "I have been taking Zanaflex and Desipramine for my daily headaches for about 1 1/2 years. They have greatly decreased the number of headaches and I am very thankful for the relief. I do experience dry mouth and frequent urination but I can live with that. Much easier than the horrible headaches I was experiencing daily."

Zanaflex (tizanidine) for Muscle Spasm "I have been put on every muscle relaxant from Flexeril to Soma and then my neurologist tried me on Zanaflex last week for the first time. I have to say so far it's working pretty good. I feel a little drowsy but hopefully that will pass as my system gets used to it. At this point with my MS, I am willing to try anything in order to feel better and not hurt all the time. I'm thinking we are on to something here. At least that's what I'm praying for."

For Muscle Spasm "I’ve been on the medication Tizanidine now for 2 years. It works great for my spasms neck and headache. As long as I take it with the other meds I’m prescribed with. Taking it alone is like taking a aspirin. I’ve had no side affects at all thus far."

Zanaflex (tizanidine) for Muscle Spasm "Zanaflex was working well for my lower back which has been an issue since a car accident in Oct of 2013. This has progressed to a point where I am waiting for an M.R.I. During the last 3 months I have been dealing with spasms in my left leg that went from annoying and limiting my ability to move around slightly to full blown, unbelievably painful leg spasms. The medication is no longer working. I am going to call my doctor on Monday and ask about Soma since it seems to have a much better score when it comes to stopping spasms."

Zanaflex (tizanidine) for Muscle Spasm "Strained my rotator cuff, MD acute care practice prescribed 4mg. I asked both doctor and pharmacist if it was okay to take with Allegra D. Both said yes. Luckily I was safe at home. It was scary how sedated I was. I had set an alarm for an appointment 2hours after taking mess. I got out of bed and could hardly make it to the restroom. Needless to say I cancelled the appointment. Next time I took the Medicines separately and broke the 4 mg table into 1mg. I'm no lightweight but this was too strong for me."

For Muscle Spasm "After several years tizanadine started to drop my blood pressure. I mean my systolic pressure was 80 or less! I had to be taken off and switched to something else. The new drug doesn't work nearly as well for the muscle spasms. I understand tizanadine is a cousin to a blood pressure medicine. True?"

Zanaflex (tizanidine) for Muscle Spasm "I have been living with chronic neck, back and migraine pain for several years now. In the beginning, my doctors had me go to physical therapy, take ibuprofen, or aspirin. None of these things ever really helped. After trying Flexeril and numerous anti-inflammatories, my pain management doctor did an MRI and found that among the many tension knots and twisting of my spine, I had bulging disks in my neck. He gave me Zanaflex to take at night. It knocks me out within 20 minutes but helps relax my back and neck so that I can get restful sleep - been on it for 3 months now! I highly recommend it for continuous back pain and it's even helped with my migraines. Be ready for bed though - very powerful!"

For Cluster Headaches "I suffer from chronic migraine and cluster headache attacks. This medication seemed like a god send the first few days. My muscles were so relaxed, I swear every bone in my back, neck, and shoulders cracked. However, this came with a huge price. This medication made me feel hopelessly suicidal. I also had tight chest, vomiting, dizziness, feeling like I might pass out, and felt like I was fevering (chills!). I had mental/mood changes as well- I went between euphoria/manic feeling to agitated/angry and suicidal within minutes. The bad side effects only came about a week into treatment. For reference, I was taking 2mg once at night per day. I am two days without it and still suffering side effects. Please proceed with caution as this medication can be dangerous."

For Muscle Spasm "I started to take this medication after telling my doc about all the failing attempts to reduce my upper back pain. I have a scoliosis and the curvature of my spine is to the right of my shoulder blade. I'm also a very busty lady and the extra weight doesn't help. After trying out flexural at a very high dosage I was pretty concerned about the side effects of this medication. To my surprise I feel GREAT! My prescription is 2.0mg and says 1-2 capsules per night time only AS NEEDED. I have been taking only one pill and after a half hour I fall into really deep sleep for about 6-8hrs. The only side effect I noticed is a minor stomach ache the next day after I take it. I would recommend this medication to a friend."

Zanaflex (tizanidine) for Muscle Spasm "I had been having muscle spasms the Zanaflex helped. I suffer from real bad insomnia; I have been unable to find a medicine that would work for me and once prescribed Zanaflex I have been able to sleep every night as long as I have them. So if anyone else suffers from insomnia maybe they could try Zanaflex, it really helps."

For Muscle Spasm "My experience with this medication for my Chronic low back pain was awful. As noted in another users review, I had same terrible reaction. As if I was sleeping but my eyes were open and I couldn’t move a single part of my body or even speak a word but my brain wanted too ! ???? I literally could not even lift my head off the pillow as much as I knew I had to. I was prescribed this by neurologist after minimal results on flexeril. I also take 2400 mg gabapentin which has taken me months to baby step my way on to that amount, it helps tremendously but at an expense to my cognitive function :( Anyway, back to flexeril I suppose or onto another script with high hopes ! (Cymbalta was also horrific horrific horrific)"

Zanaflex (tizanidine) for Muscle Spasm "I had muscle spasm from several neck surgeries. Diagnosed with DDD. I had been using carisoprodol for 21 years. I had to switch to a doctor that wouldn't prescribe carisoprodol. I was prescribed tizanidine and I am having a really bad experience. I have developed significant anxiety/nervousness. My eyes have gotten so dry that they're red. I can't sleep and experienced chest and right arm pain and a rapid heartbeat. My family is upset with me because I'm so anxious/nervous, and have become rude. I never had any of this before this drug. It's destroying my life and my doctor doesn't care. He doesn't believe any of these side effects. I'm taking 4mg four times a day. It helps a portion of the muscle spasms. I might like it if I didn't have these disturbing side effects. The carisoprodol was more effective for me."
