Solifenacin for Urinary Incontinence "I want to give this a 0. VESIcare worked amazing for the first few days - my bladder felt 'strong,' and pelvic floor exercises were actually fun and easy to do (my bladder seemed to want me to do them). However, after only a week, the drug stopped working at all. I gave it a 6- to 7-month trial period, put on 5- to 6 kgs of excess weight without explanation. The product also gave me severe headaches, dry mouth, and was useless. After going off of it, I lost the weight without any change to diet in about 3 months (thank Gaawwwwdddd). Too scared to get a bladder sling, still thinking about that one. No other options now other than to go wee-wee all the way home in my Icon undies and use a pad when peeing myself really cannot be tolerated any longer. I am in a safe/normal weight range, healthy and fit; humiliating."

Solifenacin for Urinary Frequency "I have been struggling with urinary urgency and leakage for at least a year. I finally gave in and saw a urologist. Just 1 pill gave me the relief I needed. I am so grateful! The only side effect is dry mouth. It is well worth it! Just 5 mg once daily has been my dose. What a great product! Thank you! Now I can get on with my life!"

Solifenacin for Urinary Frequency "I've been on this medication for one week (10 mg) and have found it to work quite well. I'm not running to the bathroom constantly, and I am able to hold my urine until I can get there when I do have to go. I am experiencing dry mouth, which I hope will go away, and I have been a little drowsy, but neither of these side effects are unmanageable. I started taking Metamucil 2x daily and have not been constipated yet. I will keep taking it but may try cutting the pills in half to make the prescription last longer (expensive!)"

Solifenacin for Urinary Frequency "Took this medicine along with Uroxatral for slow stream and urinary frequency, both secondary to radiation cystitis caused by brachytherapy. VESIcare caused slight mouth dryness at 5 mg, severe mouth dryness and bad taste at 10 mg."

Solifenacin for Urinary Frequency "After 5 days of taking VESIcare, I feel like I have the flu. My throat is sore, my mouth is dry, vision is blurry, and my stomach is upset. I was prescribed 10's. I am stopping them today. I also am having trouble emptying my bladder. I won't take this again."

Solifenacin for Urinary Frequency "Caused dry mouth, headaches, weight gain, and pain in lower back. Now seeing a physio as my back hurts so much. I'm on 10 mg a day. Within one month, running to the toilet was normalized, and I slept all night without needing to get up numerous times. Someone else mentioned the effect on eyesight. I have experienced this too but hadn't thought to link it to the drugs."

Solifenacin for Urinary Frequency "This medication initially was very helpful in helping me get my urinary problems under control. During the first month of treatment, it caused extreme dry mouth and dry eyes. By week six, it caused heartburn and an upset stomach. At first, I did not make the connection between the drug and my symptoms, but after thinking about it, the possibility of VESIcare being the culprit became very real to me. I used this website to confirm my suspicions. I have decided to inform my doctor and curtail daily usage, lest things get worse."

For Overactive Bladder "Solifenacin is an awful drug. I took it for ten days, and the first day I had a dry mouth. It did help with frequency, but on the second day, I felt as if I was carrying a heavy suitcase on my shoulders. Then the nausea and stomach pains started. Worse after I ate, and then I lost all appetite. I thought the side effects might reduce, but on the ninth day, I just felt worse. Peeing all the time might be better. I am not sure if it was just this drug or a combination of all my other meds with it, but I never felt like that before I took it. It does say that the side effects will wear off, but I couldn't even work because of them, so I decided to stop taking it. The horrible side effects last three days to get it totally out of my system, but I will never take it again. Sorry."

Solifenacin for Urinary Frequency "I have PPMS/Multiple Sclerosis and have been on .5 mg for 2 years. It has helped considerably. Yes, some dry mouth, but drink more water. I'm a 54-year-old male, and with MS, I cannot honestly tell you that I have less or more joint pain, as this is what MS is all about, but wetting my pants was no fun! I really can't complain much about side effects, but would like to try to try every other day. Oh, and I still can get an erection! Just need a wife to help on that one!"

Solifenacin for Overactive Bladder "I tried it first when I was a teenager, it made my mouth dry as cotton to the point I almost lost my voice. Because of this, I would drink more water and use the bathroom even more frequently than without it. Last year, it was recommended to me to try again. It worked a tiny bit at first but started to taper off. Again, it caused a lot of dry mouth, sometimes I was scared I would swallow my tongue, lol. After not finding success, I tried another med, it also didn’t work very well. But due to finances, I was told to go back onto VESIcare again until I could try other options. This time, it made my frequency even worse than before. It also made my bladder feel extremely full very frequently, despite mostly emptying my bladder, which was extremely bothersome and uncomfortable. I’m so very frustrated with not having any success with these medications."

For Overactive Bladder "I started solifenacin for overactive bladder. I previously tried other Rx, but they made my mouth so dry it was unbearable, even if I drank more water. This is much better. I'm having joint pain, but don't know if it's just age (53) or if it's the medication. I didn't have joint pain before, and now I deal with it daily in my shoulder, knee, hip, so I can't help but think it's related. I've tried taking it every other day. I still found relief from my bladder, so then I tried taking it every two days, and the next day I had less joint pain (my shoulder didn't hurt at all). Joint pain isn't listed as a side effect, though. I would have to stop taking this entirely to see if the joint pain goes away, and I just don't want to go back to having to pee all the time. I'm torn."

For Neurogenic Bladder "I began taking solifenacin 2.5 years ago. At first, I struggled with side effects (dry mouth, constipation, anxious feeling). My doctor advised me that if I could handle it for a few weeks, those side effects should die down, and they did. I have MS, and my bladder has taken a hard hit, feeling like I always have urine in my panty liner, and feeling dirty sucks. It still happens here and there, but nothing like it used to. 6 months ago, my insurance stopped approving it. I tried other meds, and they were terrible! Finally got insurance to let me go back on this, and I’m so grateful!!!!!"

Solifenacin for Urinary Frequency "Taking 1/2 a 5 mg tablet, which has reduced the number of times I needed to go to the toilet. I find that VESIcare causes blurry vision and memory problems. Some memory problems and dry mouth. I take Movicol am and pm (laxative) and Biotene for dry mouth and also feel somewhat tired and lack motivation. I hope in 3 months, when I trial not taking it for 2 weeks, will work as the side effects and the price of tablets make me short-tempered."

For Overactive Bladder "I have been taking this for nearly a year for OAB. I switched from oxybutynin because solifenacin is once daily and prefer to take meds as infrequently as possible. The oxybutynin also gave me concentration and memory problems with occasional diarrhea. Apart from the dry mouth, which is manageable, I haven't noticed any other side effects from solifenacin. It managed my symptoms okay, but had better control with oxybutynin. All of a sudden, after 9 months of taking solifenacin, my OAB symptoms have come back with a vengeance, not sure what happened, but possibly think that I have built a tolerance to this medication and have restarted oxybutynin."

For Overactive Bladder "I was prescribed only 5 mg of solifenacin for my urinary problem. I take it at night, as it does make me sleepy. It is short-acting, and I still have to wear a pad during the day. I also am having dry mouth (which is not a problem) and awful tremors. Will stop this drug tonight!"

For Urinary Frequency "I have been taking 5 mg of solifenacin for 2 months. It certainly helps me to not get up three times a night, but doesn't help during the day. It is easy to take this small pill. I will have to stop taking this because my eyesight has become very blurry. I can barely read the subtitles on TV. In the beginning, I put this down to having laser treatment for glaucoma recently. The other pesky side effect is a continually sore throat and dry mouth. The sore throat is not the same as the one you get with a cold, it is more on the roof of your mouth, and nothing relieves it. A friend started to take solifenacin on my recommendation, but she stopped two days ago, and her sore throat has gone completely. I also had sharp pains in my shoulder through the back around my rib area, and it felt as if I had a lung problem."

For Urinary Frequency "Suffered urge incontinence for over 40 years. Now 77. Pelvic floor exercises, as advised by G.P., did not work, and incontinence (mild) and frequency, especially at night, was an increasing problem. Saw a consultant who prescribed solifenacin, and the improvement after a month is good - get up once a night instead of 3-4 times, so sleep better. Problem is side effects! Dry mouth and nasal passage not really a problem, but blurred vision and being dazzled by bright sun, car headlights when driving, plus some cognitive deterioration and constipation is proving a bit of a worry. Not sure if I will carry on long term."

For Urinary Frequency "Really helped with bladder sensations of having to go frequently, some days that was 30 times a day. Now, months later, waking up with a very dry mouth, red streaks, and soreness in my throat. Have to call the doctor, as my throat is worse and getting redder each day."

For Neurogenic Bladder "For neurogenic and OA bladder due to myelomeningocele. Using it about three years. I take it for about 9-12 months, then rest for 1 month, then start again. It's the best medication that is useful for me. First time that I used it, at least 6 months, it worked excellent. Really a miracle! Four hours without leaking or incontinence. Because of some reasons, I stopped it. After that time, I used solifenacin again, but it can't completely cure my problem, only for 2 hours or maybe 2.5 hours, but I like it. Side effects: dry mouth, dry eyes. Dry mouth 2 times a week and dry eyes 1 or 2 times per month, only for 10mg or more. I try Botox injection. My bladder capacity increased 2x, but nothing happens for my incontinence. I suggest to you the best way when living with OAB is using CIC + medication (solifenacin, etc.). Most of the drugs in Iran are cheap. It costs $1.32 for me. Yes, they are expensive for you out of Iran, but they are a very low price for us here."

For Urinary Incontinence "My doctor put me on 2 different medications, which had little effect. And even if they had worked (which they did not), my insurance didn't cover the cost of either of these, which was astronomical. I went online and found this generic, which brought the cost down to 2.5% of either of the first two my doctor suggested. And it worked very well. I do get dry mouth and constipation, but these are manageable side effects and worth it for how it has helped me. Now instead of having to urinate every hour or so, the intervals between urination are more like 3 to 4 hours. I finally feel like a normal person again thanks to this drug."

For Urinary Frequency "So disappointed, was on solifenacin for three months, but the heartburn was getting it several times a day. Altered my bowels, harder to go. Also gave me dry mouth and cough, and worse, awful tired. Helped my trips in the night, just wish not so many side effects. Could cope with dry mouth, but not the others."

For Urinary Frequency "I am in my early 20s and was prescribed 5 mg solifenacin for urinary frequency due to my bladder being unable to hold around half of what it should. The immediate side effects were dry mouth, blurred vision, constipation, and diarrhea (which I did not even know you could get a combination of!), but most significantly anxiety. I told doctors and was told to stay on it and side effects should go down. I only began to see a minute difference in frequency 4 months in, but the side effects outweigh that. I am still waking up in the night and unable to hold longer than 2 hours. The anxiety is terrible, I stopped leaving my house because the blurred vision and dizziness made me feel crazy in public and caused me to have full-blown panic attacks. I also started to have retention, which I never had before. I stopped taking this a few weeks ago, and there has been little change to my frequency, and anxiety is getting better but still having the blurred vision. Not worth it."

Solifenacin for Urinary Incontinence "I started out with 5 mg, and it helped 90%. After three months, I asked for 10 mg, and I've been taking it for about 2 months, but I don't think it's helping as much as the 5 mg was. Odd. I plan on asking to go back down to the 5 mg. My side effects are a stuffed-up nose and dry mouth. The side effects were not bothersome until about 2 weeks ago. The stuffy nose is driving me nuts. I have a humidifier running, an air purifier running, and took some sinus congestion medicine... not working. The weather is getting colder here and just starting to use the heat... I think that is what did my nose in with the combination of VESIcare. Don't get me wrong... this medication is awesome. It's such a relief. The only time I leak now is when I cough."
