"As I moved into my thirties, I began sweating heavily all over my torso. Unlike many, I don't sweat excessively in my armpits, hands, or feet. I am now approaching 50, and the problem has only gotten worse. If the temperature is above 75 or humid, sweat runs down my chest and back and soaks my shirt and beltline. It's miserable and has caused me to withdraw from most of my friendships because I can't participate in many of the things we would like to do. I began taking oxybutynin about 6 months ago, and it has been somewhat helpful. Not as much as I'd hoped, but it does enable me to go out in public more and, in general, just feel better that sweat isn't running down my chest or back quite as quickly as before. Unfortunately, it's still not enough to make me feel comfortable doing things with friends, which is depressing."

"I've had hyperhidrosis since my early teens. All of my body is affected, but my feet are the worst. In the past, I had to change shoes every 2-3 months because they started to smell from my feet. I was ashamed when shaking hands because mine were constantly wet. I have tried many things, but nothing worked. Oxybutynin changed my life. I only take one tablet at night, as a higher dose makes me drowsy and my mouth gets too dry. This is enough to stop my body from sweating; however, it is not enough for my feet, but this is a compromise. I feel like I was given a new life. Shame GPS don't prescribe it as a proper hyperhidrosis treatment."

"I am a 76-year-old lady. This little blue 5 mg tablet is my new release on life. I was in a sweat all year round. My doctors searched all my meds to no avail, could not find a reason for these terrible, embarrassing bouts of being soaked in sweat. Could not believe my ears when my doctor said yes, I can give you a tablet for that. That was the change of a whole new lifestyle for me. One 5 mg tablet, morning and night. Second day, no sweats. A bottle of scotch for my doctor."

"On it for almost 2 weeks. First week tried 15 mg (2 at night and 1 around 2 pm). Had huge improvement on head sweats by the end of the week 7/10, feet was a bit better 4/10 although noticed was getting drowsy/lowering of my heart rate during the day. Opted to do just 10 mg (2 at night) and side effects much better and sweating issue still getting better. Feet still a bit warm although not the dripping mess they were. Social and professional impact 10/10 so is looking like a definite alternative to the ETS knife. Hoping feet will improve over the coming weeks!"

"Absolute game changer! In social situations, including my own wedding, sweat would be dripping off my face and the back of my head would be wet with sweat. Now dry, confident, and so much less anxious. Slight dry mouth but, compared to the difference, it's nothing. Wish I had tried this a decade ago!"

"I was prescribed oxybutynin yesterday. The quality of my life has greatly improved, no more sweating, and I can focus on my job and talk to other people without any worries. Though my mouth is just a bit dry, not a big effect. At least I have felt normal for once in my life, just like everybody else. Hope this great trend continues."

"Hope this helps somebody. I've had severe night sweats for 5 years, since having an ovary removed. Drenching sheets multiple times a night. Tried a dozen treatments, mostly oral hormones, that didn't help at all. Then, tried gabapentin. It stopped the night sweats completely! But made me feel spaced out all day -- not an acceptable trade-off. Finally tried oxybutynin for night sweats. It's been less than a week, but so far the severity of my sweats is drastically reduced and I've had no side effects! Good luck to us all."

"I've been suffering from sweaty palms and feet since I was really little, but now at 15, it has really started to impact my life. As a child, I thought it was normal to have clammy hands and feet, but as I hit puberty, it got very excessive and my armpits started to sweat heavily as well. It never really bothered me until high school, as people would make remarks which hurt me as I couldn't help it. It was embarrassing and made me constantly self-conscious. I started taking Lyrinel 1 week ago and I sweat like a normal person! My hands and feet are dry, unless I'm clenching them for a long time, they'll get a bit clammy. My pits barely sweat. This stuff is a lifesaver, although it makes me drowsy sometimes and gives me a dry throat."

"A miracle. I've always sweated due to thyroid meds and antidepressants. It was like this for years. This medication works! I no longer sweat excessively. I feel normal again. I don't have to blast my car's AC, bring a cold water bottle with me everywhere, wear breathable clothes, sleep with a fan on, wipe my face 10x a day. My hands aren't sweaty and my PPE gloves at work aren't soaked. The only time I sweat is when I work out, like normal! The dry mouth is a little annoying but I'd rather have that than my old, miserable sweat habits! I'm so glad I started this."

"I'm so grateful I read about Oxybutynin for hyperhidrosis on drugs.com. Three weeks ago, it has already saved me so much anxiety, discomfort, and embarrassment. I can't believe I can feel confident and comfortable in public now. THANK YOU! My crazy sweating began two years ago from opiate replacement therapy (an extremely common side effect of methadone and Suboxone). Even in winter, just grocery shopping left me covered in sweat, but since day two of Oxybutynin, NOT ONE BEAD OF SWEAT. I feel so lucky! I haven't tried exercising on it yet, but I'll update when I do. :) In addition to methadone 50mg, I take Lexapro, Norimin, Ritalin, and Seroquel 25mg, which would increase my side effects so far of dry mouth and three headaches, but small sacrifice!"

"Diagnosed with hyperhidrosis years ago, which only affects my face/head. If you have the condition, I don't need to explain how badly this affects your social life, especially in the summertime. I have tried Botox, aluminum chloride, sweat block wipes, you name it, I have tried, and nothing worked. I started taking 2 x 5 mg oxybutynin per day around 3 months ago and can honestly say it 100% works. I do still sweat but just like a regular person now instead of feeling like a tap that won't turn off. Some people say it gives you a dry mouth, which it does, but is very mild for me, and most of the time, I don't notice. If you suffer from this condition, give it a try, it will literally change your life for the better."

"I have tried another drug, and it was called Glycopyrrolate Tabs 2 mg, and that really worked well until my insurance company told my doctor that it wouldn't be covered anymore. I took it three times a day, which seemed to work better than oxybutynin does, and I take it once a day at 15 mg. For me, it sucks because I still sweat so badly when I do dishes or just things around the house. I take anxiety pills if I go someplace, that helps me out too, so I'm not so nervous around people. I never had this problem until I had back surgery in 2013 and never sweated as I do now. This kind of sweat has a different smell to it than regular sweat does, I am told. When I sweat, my hair gets pretty wet just doing normal things around the house, and I also sweat in the pubic area and my stomach. I can't imagine sweating like this if I were a younger person having to go to school or having a job to go to. I am retired now, so it's not so bad because I live alone."

"I'm a 53-year-old woman. Started taking two doses of 5 mg of oxybutynin about 2 months ago. I had relief starting on day one. I've had hyperhidrosis for the last 10-15 years. Horrible head, face, neck, and back. It was debilitating. My only issue is the dry mouth. I have an autoimmune disease that also causes dry mouth, and my gums are suffering horribly. I've tried the mouthwashes for dry mouth. The mints. Drinking water with lemon, none of it works. The products for it make my mouth feel slimy, and skin peels away with the slime. Anyone else have this problem? Mind you, I drink at least a gallon of fluid a day, if not more. Going to ask my doc at the next visit if I can drop down to 5 mg once a day to see if it helps. If anyone has had experience with this and found a solution, please share. I can't go back to the debilitating sweating."

"I've had hyperhidrosis my whole childhood, and so being able to have this medication during my high school years is so helpful, not just because of the bullying and my self-esteem, but the amount of things I can finally do. I just wish it wasn't a daily medication."

"I'm a 6.3', 185 lb, male. When the cranial hyperhidrosis would randomly kick in, I would look subhuman. I can honestly say that 10 mg of oxybutynin (ER) taken as needed has been miraculous. Now, the only time I sweat is when everyone else is (hot, humid weather, gym, etc.). I never thought I'd actually appreciate returning to just being an ordinary guy. I owe it all to this wonder medication."

"I am on methadone maintenance. At first, I didn't really have an issue with sweating. Then over time, it just got worse and worse, getting to the point that it was hindering my everyday life. I couldn't work, I was embarrassed to go out in public. I tried light clothing, vitamins, and cutting down my dose, but nothing was working. I knew I wasn't ready to come completely off of the methadone, but I was getting close to giving up. So one day, talking with someone at the clinic, they told me about this medication, oxybutynin. So I thought I would give it a try, and it has changed my life. I can still continue my path of methadone maintenance so I can continue to stay sober and cut down when I'm ready, and now I can go back to work. I finally am starting to feel like a normal person again. I'm so grateful."

"I've suffered for years with sweating from my armpits, also my head, back, and chest. All I had to do was stand up to do something, and bang, full-blown sweating. It used to pour out of my head like a tap. I got to the point where I didn't want to do anything or go anywhere anymore, as the sweating would start and I'd be standing in queues with sweat pouring out constantly. I would be trying to wipe it away, and you feel people are watching, thinking this person must be some hardcore druggie to be sweating like that - well, that's what it felt like. Every time I'd go out to walk the dog slowly around the block, I'd be trying to rush back home just to take all the sweat-soaked clothes off and sit in front of a fan for half an hour in order to stop, it was making my life unbearable! Luckily, I was looking online and found the drug Oxybutynin. I was skeptical at first but rang my GP and explained about it all and agreed to start me on 5 mg twice a day of Oxybutynin. All I'm going to say is wow! Within 24 hours, I noticed it was gone! I'm no longer wet."

"After suffering with excessive sweating for years, being treated for being menopausal and told it was just hot flashes. I finally got referred to a dermatologist as I couldn't bear it any longer. Every day was a nightmare, having a shower every morning and stripping the sweat-soaked bedding, and being wetter than in the shower, to not taking care of my appearance because my hair would be dripping and my clothes stuck to me due to the sweating. Going out shopping or socially was so depressing and I was having three or more showers a day. When I commenced on Oxybutynin 5mg three times a day, the effects were almost immediate. Within a week, I could sleep without waking in a pool of sweat, shower and dry my hair, get dressed, and still be dry, it was nothing short of a miracle. The only side effect I really experienced was a dry mouth, but that is something I can cope with in exchange for not sweating excessively."

"This drug is pretty amazing. I've had hyperhidrosis of the palms, soles, and underarms since hitting puberty. I was skeptical since I've previously tried Botox, iontophoresis, and Drysol with limited results. However, after three days of taking oxybutynin (5 mg 3x a day), I was 95% sweat-free. My only negative things to say about the drug are about side effects. I have gotten fairly dizzy/spaced out a few times, and I experience dry mouth pretty often. However, that's not bad in comparison to the acne I've gotten. I used to get pimples around once a month, however, now I have ones lasting for <6 wks, varying in size/color. I constantly have groups of acne on my face. Does anyone have any remedies? I've tried acne masks, cleansers, and tea tree oil."

"Thank goodness I found oxybutynin. Within 3 days of usage, I'm free from hyperhidrosis. I'm 19 and in college, studying Kinesiology, which can be physically demanding. From my early teenage years, I'd sweat excessively, especially on my palms, either when I'm anxious/nervous or not. I secrete so much sweat, I'd always place an extra sheet of paper under my wrist so I can write without staining or making my book damp. I have a collection of face towels because of my condition. I was always too ashamed to shake hands or even hug anyone. Going to college, I knew my condition was only going to be more of a nightmare, as we do practical physical activities. At times, I don't attend class or would fake an injury because the littlest of activity makes me drip sweat. I am nervous about the public shame this condition caused me because I have sensitive skin, so somehow excessive secretion of sweat gave me discoloration on my hands. I hope the discoloration will heal."

"I’m 27 and have been suffering from severe underarm hyperhidrosis since I was a teen. Someone in a support group I’m in recommended Oxybutynin to me, and they said it changed their lives. After trying it for myself, it changed mine too! I’m on 10 mg tablets, and all my perspiration is gone within an hour of taking it. No more sticking paper towels under my arms all day. No more changing my shirt several times a day. This medication truly gave me my life - and personal comfort - back. I have had no side effects either."

"I've been on oxybutynin for 3 weeks, 5 mg twice a day. It completely stopped my generalized hyperhidrosis. I had to discontinue due to side effects. I felt like my lower back was on fire, difficulty swallowing, and stomach not emptying. I tried glycopyrrolate and had similar side effects. Anyone who has tried a different oral medication to recommend?"

"I was so negative about Oxybutynin as an alternative to Propantheline Bromide (a supply issue from China caused this). From day one of taking, I think this medication has totally changed and improved my QOF. I take 10 mg first thing, but don't have to wait till I feel really dry before doing anything as I did with Propantheline, which is great. I can get on with my day, and I can eat without choking with a normal dry mouth. I'm not sweating making or eating dinner, and at night just relax watching TV. I'm no longer sleeping with a fan on to stay cool. Absolutely love these tablets and am so happy I'm not sweating from my head/face."
