For Vaginal Yeast Infection "If anyone is wondering how long it will take before symptoms start to improve, it took me 2.5 days before I experienced any improvement at all, and the itchiness started to subside. I'd used it twice (2 doses), and the itch got somewhat better about 4-5 hours before my 3rd dose of cream. The directions say to contact a doctor if you have no improvement after 3 days, so don't panic if you are well into 2 days and haven't improved. Also, I did experience some increased itching and burning that was uncomfortable on the first night (but not horrible), and it improves each night. I just inserted my 3rd dose, and the side effects tonight have not been bad at all. I did notice that Monistat makes an ointment treatment for sensitive skin that has a different active ingredient, so if you are very raw and irritated from your infection, you may want to consider looking for that. It seems that the more irritated and raw you are, the more the treatment will itch and burn."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "This is so messed up. Friday evening after a long work week, and now my vagina is ON FIRE. Just like one of the reviews said, I’m spread eagle using my handheld fan we used as giveaways for our wedding to calm down the BURNING and ITCHING. My YI wasn’t close to this bad. I hope this first application calms my YI down, 'cause I can’t bear six more days!! I will say reading these reviews helped distract me, and I don’t feel so alone on this crazy ride we women endure!"

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "Don’t let the other comments scare you! I thought I had a yeast infection but waited about two days to be sure, meaning it developed to be pretty bad. I was concerned that it would burn (most people on here said it did... BAD) but the first night I had no burning. The itch increased slightly, but it was very bearable. The next day after night one, it was slightly itchier but definitely worth it. I am on day two, and all symptoms are almost completely gone!!! Will continue for the total time just in case, but definitely would recommend."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "Monistat 7 is my go-to. I'm on the first night, and I timed how long the intense burning/itching lasted (29 min). I rated the product so high because of its effectiveness. I hate yeast infections, and I try to avoid them at all costs (probiotics, yogurt, cotton undies, using the same soap, etc.), but like others, I was prescribed antibiotics due to an oral surgery, and voila, yeast city. Tips: cold rag placed on area or fan blowing straight on your area while you're laying on your back. Patting area gently helps as well. Try not to get the medicine on the outside of your vagina. If you've had the yeast infection for a while or if it's just aggressive, chances are your area is dry and skin is probably irritated...use some kind of lubricant (I use A&D ointment), not much of it, but it may help with comfort. And yes, it really, really sucks at first, but it beats the alternative, in my opinion. Speaking from a woman who had gone to the emergency room after using Monistat 1...you can do it."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "Ok, so I've had my YI for about 5 days now, and I've finally bought Monistat 7. Oh my! After I inserted my first application, I felt instant discomfort. I was so scared because it was burning and itching, and you really can't do anything to stop it. It's been about 30 mins, and I have been putting cold pieces of tissue on my lady parts, and it had been helping. Hopefully, tomorrow is easy. Wish me luck, ladies!"

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "Day 1: MAKE SURE TO LAY DOWN!!! Don’t let it get outside your vagina. Put as far back inside you as possible. It burned and itched like lava, like fire ants in your vagina. Take pain meds and go to sleep after. Day 2: The burning and itching I had from the yeast infection was very minimal, and I sat in the car all day for a drive. Inserted and laid for five minutes but forgot to go pee beforehand. After peeing, two minutes of being up, the itching and burning intensified twice as worse as yesterday’s. Day 3: I only noticed any symptoms when it came to putting cream on. I stayed laid down for 25 minutes after inserting it. It didn’t burn, but medium to high itching still. Let you know more on day 4."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "I used Monistat 7 two months ago, and I felt the itchy sensation everyone is talking about. I felt it the first three nights, and on the fourth night, no itchiness at all. I think the itchiness is because the cream is killing the fungal infection. I'm using the cream again just to make sure it has all gone for good. The last doses, there is no itchiness or any discomfort. I highly recommend it."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "I was having vaginal itching/discharge, and I knew it was a yeast infection. So, I decided instead of going to my OB-GYN I would try this over-the-counter product. I can honestly say that my vagina is on fire! If you do not handle discomfort well, then DO NOT use this product. Once I inserted the medication, it took about 3 minutes before my vagina lit up into flames. Once I laid down, I knew something did not feel right. The inside, outside, and even my butt was burning and itching like I had been attacked by fire ants. This discomfort lasts for a solid 30 minutes before I can finally fall asleep. I will say that the product helps with the yeast infection itself. However, the burning/itching from the product itself is miserable."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "Ahhhhh!!!!! Bought Monistat 7 and been using it since Saturday. It's now Wednesday. I've had a yeast infection (YI) before, went through a doctor, got it over the counter, prescribed no issues. I had a bit of irritation, then I knew I was having symptoms of a YI, so I went and got Monistat 7, and as soon as I used the one insert, it immediately burns and itches! Which my YI wasn't even burning and itching at that point alone. The medicine made it so itchy, and of course, I did it right before bed and can't sleep because it's nonstop for at least 45 minutes. Today, I had zero symptoms of YI, but I wanted to follow through the 7 days and literally just used it again, and instant itching!!! I'm not sure if this is working or not, lol. But it is horrible, the itching!!! Like, the medicine makes you feel worse to me than my actual YI, ha."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "What happened to this formula?! I've never had issues with this brand before. And just like most of the comments on here, I inserted the cream and everything was fine until I stood up, the cream naturally started to leak out, and immediately it started to burn, but it was the unbearable itchiness that sucks. Then I came on this site and now wonder if there has been a bad batch! Complaints are almost all recent--July 2017. I used ice to help with relief... Monistat, what's going on?! For Vaginal Yeast Infection "'A mild increase of vaginal burning, itching, or irritation may occur.' First off, let me tell you that this statement is complete rubbish. Never have I felt the flames of Hades in my nether regions before, nor the horrific itch of a mosquito plague accompanying it. I read that the itching subsides as the treatment wears on, so I will tough it out. However, that does not stop my desire to punch the creators in the face."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "UPDATE: Day 2. So far, night #2 hasn’t been bad. No burning. Very slight itching. Definitely tolerable. Will go forward with the rest of treatment. Will update you all if I make it to day 7 or not. :) *** I remember using this in the past with no side effects, not sure what the difference is now. Maybe because I’m prego? Anyway, I’m 27 weeks, and my Dr. advised for me to try this first because the pill will pass through the placenta. There is a tingling sensation, which I can handle. It’s the itching driving me insane. Fortunately for me, no itching or burning on the inside, it’s the vulva. Wish I hadn’t rubbed any on it prior to insertion, lol. The itching seems to be subsiding gradually, not as quickly as I’d like though, lol. I will try night 2 and then from there decide if I will take the pill instead or not. 2/23/2020"

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "I have had a YI before and cured it with plain yogurt, and this is my 2nd YI. I felt the first time that plain yogurt helped was out of luck. Wow! Extreme itching and mild burning 3 mins after internal cream insertion and rubbing a bit of the external cream. I put on the external cream before the internal cream. Holy crap, I hope this means the medication is working. Plus, today is my first day of my period. It just makes me feel uncomfortable all over. I'm just trying to think of something else to not think about the itching. The itching subsided a bit after 40 mins. Almost no itching after 1 hr and 30 min. I'm going to keep everyone posted about the effectiveness of this product throughout the week. I'm really hoping it works!"

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "I'm still using this, but I wanted to share my experience because the horror stories here terrified me so much (this was my first YI, caused by antibiotics). I was just sticking coconut oil in and hoping for the best. It did help, but it wasn't getting rid of the YI totally, and I didn't want it to get worse. I had some coconut oil around there from before, and I applied the anti-itch cream beforehand. I think both helped (the lubrication particularly). And then, because I read that it was getting the cream outside you that really burns, I stuck a towel between my legs and clamped down. I experienced a warm sensation, a bit of cramping, but no difference in itching, and nothing I would describe as burning. I think having been using the coconut oil definitely made things easier, it was WAY worse a few days ago. I was so sore and irritated I was basically lying with a fan between my legs. I'd say take some precautions if you're worried, but everyone's experience is different."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "Holy Moly. I'm on day 3 of Monistat 7. The first two days, I was in agony when I applied the cream. Today hurt, but not as bad. I didn't have to jump up and down, yowling like a drowned cat tonight! Score. Still painful though. The burning and itching during the day I noticed is practically gone. I will finish the 7 days because I believe it's working. I stumbled onto this site, making sure the pain was normal. I am SO GLAD I didn't get the 3 or 1 day because I probably would have gone to the ER."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "Unfortunately, I’m super prone to yeast infections. I’ve only ever used the 7. It works wonders for me. Of course, I get some itching and burning, but it clears everything up. I feel bad for the people it causes so much discomfort for because it really is a great product."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "I got the Monistat 7-day treatment. The first night was a bit rough for me. About 30 minutes after insertion, I felt the burn. It lasted about 45 minutes. After that, the burning went away. I'm on day 3 now and I kind of feel a little tingly feeling, but nothing more. Overall, it's working because at first I was itchy, burning, and had a discharge. Now all that is gone except for the little tingly feeling. After I got past the first day, it's smooth sailing for me. My yeast infection is almost gone. I would recommend it."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "Omg, I was going through the reviews as I’m dealing with night one now. The itching is unbearable! I’ve been squirming since I’ve inserted the cream in. Mild burning sensation, but honestly, I have been dealing with a swollen vagina for a couple of days. It’s just the itching for me! I’m trying to let the product run its course. Was taking UTI antibiotics, and the YI came with it. Got a 2-for-1 special, I guess, lol."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "Ok, so I’m back again! My first time using this cream, I had instant relief. About 10 mins in, while watching a movie with my family, my vagina felt like someone was holding a blowtorch to it. It got less and less painful as I took more treatments. This time around (my second time using it), my YI is an aggressive one. I inserted the cream and rubbed the anti-itch cream on, and it’s smooth sailing from here. A little itching, but nothing I can’t handle. I really hope I’m not speaking too soon. But I can say this: it gets worse before it gets better! Good luck to you if you’re dealing with the same problem. Use it all 7 days (or it’ll come back worse possibly) and hang in there, girly, you’ve got this!!! ❤️❤️"

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "Okay, so I realized I have a yeast infection after using a new type of soap. I went to a drug store to get meds. Usually, I get cheap stuff and it works pretty well, but I decided for some reason to get the more expensive Monistat brand this time. Well, I took a shower and got ready for bed. Inserted the medicine exactly how the directions say to. And literally, 30 seconds later, I was on fire and itching. This is terrible. The discomfort from the yeast infection is way better than going through this. It has been about 10 minutes, and I'm considering taking another shower. I came to Google for questions and found this chat group. I'm definitely not using this again!!!!!"

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "This stuff works. I've had experience with the Monistat 1-day treatment, it doesn't work on me, and their 3-day treatment only made it come back later like it had a score to settle. So the Monistat 7-day treatment is the only one that works for me. I've learned the longer you wait to treat it (when the area is looking like plucked chicken because of the yeast), the worse the first dose will itch and burn. But I know it's only because my skin is raw from the yeast. The second day has itching but no burning. The fourth day there is no itching. By day 6, my infection is gone, but I take the 7th dose anyway just to make sure. This is the only OTC med that works for me."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "I agree with everyone else regarding the intense itchy feeling and pain right after inserting the cream, but it gets better after about 20 minutes. The trick is to use anti-itch cream or anti-itch wipes right after you apply the cream. These wipes were heaven-sent. My ob-gyn suggested the 7-day treatment because it's not as irritating as the 3-day one. This product works despite its annoying side effects, so do not stop using it if you can. After 1-2 treatments, the itchiness stopped during the day."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "I have used this product many times, but this is the first time it has felt like this. The itching is unbearable. I really wanted to go to the ER. I wondered if they made a few changes in the product, cause I've never felt like this. I literally wanted to scratch it out."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "Before taking this, the itch was so intense I wanted to cry. It was irritating and uncomfortable. I called my doc on a Thursday, but they couldn’t see me until Monday. I couldn’t wait that long with the kind of itching and burning I was having. I purchased Vagisil to try and ease it before the doctor's appointment, and that only helped for about 3 hours, and you’re only able to apply it 3-4 times a day. Like other users said, the first night of Monistat is something else!! Lord, the itching inside was worse than the itch from the YI! It started maybe 10-15 minutes after insertion. I stuck it out, and the next morning I already had relief, and the rest of the day the itching was gone! I’ve read that the burning and itching is due to how long you have the YI, and for me, I think it had been a few days, maybe even a week, until I realized what it was. If you can get through the first night, it’s worth the relief the next day. I’m going to continue with the 7 days to make sure it’s fully gone."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "Had my first YI in ten years and decided to get the Monistat 3-day treatment. I had been mildly itchy for 3 days prior, but nothing crazy. Within a few minutes of my first application, I experienced severe itching the likes of which I had never thought possible! I was writhing and moaning so badly for 30-40 minutes that my husband thought I was possessed. Thankfully, he researched that taking a Zyrtec minimizes the itchiness, and I took one and felt better but still itchy. It’s 2 a.m. now, and the only thing helping me cope is reading these reviews. I’m probably going to call my gyno tomorrow and get an appointment. I can’t take another night like this, and I’m sure my husband can’t either."
