For Headache "I get varying types of headaches: migraine, stress, tension, sinus. Ibuprofen works most of the time but tends to take a while to work. And if taken on an empty stomach, it will make you nauseous. I recommend using the gel caps, as they seem to be softer on the stomach."

For Pain "As I was diagnosed with a bulging disc with spine pain, as well as neck pain and maybe some arthritis in my right hand, my doctor prescribed one tablet 3 times a day. It helps with all three ailments. Working as an employee for UPS, work is physically demanding, with this medication, I am able to perform my work tasks. Very effective. For 60 pills under Local 804 TeamCare Blue Cross Blue Shield, I only paid $1.36 for the full prescription. As medications are pricey, I’m grateful to the insurance company and pharmacies like CVS that participate in this plan."

For Period Pain "I am having severe dysmenorrhea each and every one of my menstrual days. That's why I tried ibuprofen, specifically Advil, as it was also suggested by my friends. But before I took this, I consulted my doctor. He gave me specific dosages. Now, my menstrual cramps are gone."

Ibuprofen for Pain "Advil works extremely well for toothache. I was taking prescription ibuprofen 600, and they don't work as well or as fast as original Advil, in my opinion. Starts to work 15-30 mins after taking 3 for me. This is an infected tooth that needed a root canal or is going to eventually be pulled. I keep Advil in my purse and will discontinue use after I have the procedure. Very pleased at how it stops extreme pain. A godsend!"

For Pain "I was told to take ibuprofen every day for neck pain. Well, after 5 days, I got the most painful stomach pains and vomiting and got taken to the hospital, where they said don’t take it anymore as it can strip your stomach lining! I had developed acute gastritis from it and was extremely sick and uncomfortable for 5 days and put on a proton pump inhibitor to heal my stomach lining. I will never take an NSAID again if I can help it, what a nightmare!"

For Pain "This is my choice medication. I have a lot of joint pain, which I deal with without any drugs, but when it gets too bad, ibuprofen works well and works fast, and let's just say when I injured my back, it was a lifesaver. I just recently got burned on my leg (at a spa, not very relaxing). I've had minor swelling, and ibuprofen has reduced the swelling and pain. Would not recommend taking it on an empty stomach. If you're healthy enough to take it, I would definitely recommend it."

For Period Pain "Have taken this tablet on two different occasions. Both times, it does not work for periods. I have horrible pains, and I feel that this tablet does nothing at all. I'd recommend something stronger for those who don't get mild cramps."

For Pain "Ibuprofen is like an old friend. I know it well, I know when it will help me and when it won't. Works great for muscle aches and pains, is so-so with period pain, and never seems to help with my migraines. I try not to take it too many days in a row because most painkillers bother my gut after a few days, but I like ibuprofen. I just thought I'd add a review here to counteract some of the more extreme reactions."

For Period Pain "For my period, I’m taking usually between 400-500 mg of ibuprofen, and it usually helps. I take it after I eat. Works between 15-30 minutes and stays for 6-8 hours. Highly recommend. Also found in liquid medicine if (like me) you can’t take pills. I am highly overweight, and 500 mg is usually enough. Not recommended taking more than 1800 mg if I remember correctly a day."

For Headache "I get frequent headaches that I would describe as a painful tightening of the muscles in the back of my neck on the sides of the spine, right at the bottom of the skull. It's usually centered there, but the pain can radiate to the top of my head. If I take ibuprofen early enough, I can take 3 pills (600 mg), but if it's a full-blown headache, I have to take 4 or 5 depending on the severity. If I swallow the pills whole, it can take as long as 45 minutes to work. But pro tip: you can chew them (unless it is the slow-release form). They don't taste bad, and they will work a little faster. Great medication. I don't know what I'd do without it. Came here to learn the maximum dose per day. Have not noticed any bad side effects."

For Pain "800 mg 3 times per day has completely controlled all pain (for two days so far) associated with a mild to strong case of neuralgia affecting the skin on my lower abdomen in the area of my belly button about the size of my open hand. It has completely removed all of the 'sunburn sensation.' I will be dropping the dose to 600 mg at the next (6th) time I will take it. I'm wondering if I need any more at all."

Ibuprofen for Headache "As of a week ago, I suffered from an acute urticarial rash after taking the tablet 'Advil.' This medicine sprouted large red hives all over my body, which burned and itched relentlessly. Worldwide, there is no medical test that can single out your allergies. Therefore, it is well-advised to remember any product that you had allergic reactions to and avoid using it again in anything else. Furthermore, consult a doctor upon the slightest sign of allergies and always be careful. Not recommended."

For Pain "Been having costochondritis, and the pain and swelling were increasing. After taking ibuprofen, pain has decreased, but noticed that my appetite has drastically changed. I'm craving everything I see, and that made me gain weight. Which is weird for me because I have always been fit. Going to start taking ibuprofen right before I go to sleep to see how it works out."

For Pain "I was prescribed 800 mg ibuprofen and Vicodin when I had foot surgery. The 800 mg ibuprofen did nothing for the pain in my foot, but it worked wonders for my menstrual cramps. Vicodin was the only thing that helped during my surgery."

Ibuprofen for Sciatica "Advil works for me. I take 3-4 200 mg capsules about every 6 hours. Relief takes about 30 minutes. I do worry about taking so much, as I know it’ll mess up your stomach, so I try not to take it unless I REALLY need it."

Ibuprofen for Fever "I purchased this medicine for my little girl because it was doctor recommended. It was a need-based purchase to reduce her fever and some of the discomfort that she was having. They stated that it would be the best in reducing her fever. I purchased the medicine, and shortly after, her fever was gone, and she was resting. She slept well through the night. Children’s Motrin is a name that I trust. Therefore, I was not hesitant at all when my doctor recommended that I purchase this product. I have also used other fever reducer products for my little one, such as Tylenol, and it did not reduce her fever at all, so Motrin was the choice brand. Motrin allowed her to sleep through the night, and she did not spike a fever the next day. Motrin did the job."

For Sciatica "I have a very painful sciatica for the past month. I took 500 mg naproxen, which didn't help at all. Advil helped a little bit. Pregabalin helps the best so far, 300 mg in the morning, 300 mg before I sleep, but I would say it helps by 30 percent only. Lumbar epidural steroid injection is my last resort."

Ibuprofen "My tonsils have been hurting very badly the whole day that I felt like crying. 10 minutes after taking Advil, I felt such a relief. More than half of the pain was gone, and I was able to take my final exams for school without any pain. Thank you so much, Advil!"

For Back Pain "Seriously worked better than the Percocet given to me at the hospital. I hurt my back but needed to go to work and couldn't be loopy. Lasts about 6 hours, then pain started to kick in again. Then took the OxyContin and broke out in hot sweats and nausea. The other one was way better."

For Toothache "I have taken 800 mg with 600 mg Tylenol at the 6h mark twice a day for several days now for a fractured tooth. It does a really decent job of bringing the pain down from excruciating to bothersome, but I have a predisposition to GI bleeds, so it is a bit scary over here."

Ibuprofen for Period Pain "This is my first time in a while taking this. I usually stick to naproxens, but I wanted to go a different route. So far, so good. I'm having slight pain, but not as bad as before. Fingers, eyes, legs, arms, and toes are all crossed... hoping this works throughout my day :)"

For Toothache "4.5 hours of periodontal surgery with IV sedation (sure didn’t sedate me very much this time) with no break. The doctor gives me a script for 600 ibuprofen. Tells me to use ice 20/20 on and off. I couldn’t sleep because of the pain and called the doctor in the morning. The ibuprofen wasn't helping at all, so he gave me a script for 15 hydrocodone 5 w/ acetaminophen 325. I still had pain 5 days later and had to call again for 15 more. What the hell is wrong with ibuprofen? It might have been easier to get strong enough meds the first time off the street. I’m a retired nurse, and here it is 2 weeks later with pain."

For Period Pain "For menstrual cramps, it's the absolute best. Stops pain at the source (prostaglandins), so it really helps to relieve many period symptoms. But those with sensitive stomachs will want to use caution, as long-term use caused me to bloat and get so nauseous every time I took it. I ultimately had to stop taking it. I do miss it for periods though-nothing else compares."

Ibuprofen for Toothache "Be careful with this medicine. I've been in pain for over a week. I finally had a root canal done a week ago. I was in a lot of pain afterward. The endodontist gave a paper with instructions saying I can take 4 Advil every 6 hours for pain, I guess he didn't want to prescribe pain meds. I went back yesterday because I started getting sick from the Advil even though I ate before taking. The endodontist had made my tooth too sharp, so it was cutting into my jawbone and the side of my tongue. He did some drilling and smoothed it out, and the pain stopped. The problem is, I'm still nauseous all day, every day. Now I have to see a doctor to make sure I'm okay."

For Headache "I've had chronic migraines for over 40 years, and the ONLY thing that helps is 800 mg ibuprofen. It gets rid of the headache within twenty minutes. It's much safer than some of these crazy pills doctors prescribe that have dangerous side effects. You want to drink lots of water and have a small snack with them, like crackers, etc., to avoid stomach aches."
