For Birth Control "So I normally do my research before I take any medication! I took my normal trip to my OB with trying to control an irregular period. I needed some relief, I was having my period for as long as a month at a time. The doctor prescribed this BC because he stated it also had iron in it. I was super convinced. I've been on this medication for about 4 days now. I normally get occasional anxiety, but not like this! Crying spells, tingly body. Something felt wrong. Luckily, I had a bottle of low-dose Xanax prescribed by the doctor a year ago due to anxiety. I have always been able to keep my anxiety under control. I have never felt anxiety like I did today! It was horrible. After never taking Xanax in my life or anxiety medication, today was the first day I HAD TO TAKE A XANAX to help cope with the MAJOR ANXIETY I was feeling. I felt instant relief. I was always scared to take Xanax. Thank you to this BC for pushing me to the edge to take one. Please don’t take this contraceptive pill. Panic attacks all day are not fun!"

For Birth Control "I was put on this birth control about a month ago. I know everyone has different experiences, but here is mine: At first, I really liked the birth control and did not notice anything different. About a week in, my acne started becoming terrible, my breasts became sore to the touch, and I was nauseous before every meal. About two weeks later, my anxiety went downhill. Panic attacks every night, constant worrying, not wanting to go anywhere because of the fear. I have a diagnosed anxiety disorder. I’m not sure, but that might be why the birth control did not work for me. My anxiety has been terrible recently, and I hope it stops once I get off this pill. I do not suggest this pill if you suffer from anxiety/depression, etc. This pill may be amazing for some, but not for me. I also got heavy periods with cramps. The only good thing about this pill is that my breasts got bigger!!"

For Birth Control "This was my first ever birth control experience, and although it worked fairly well for the first month concerning period regulation, I had major breakthrough bleeding on my second pack that resembled a heavy, two-week-long period on my active pills. My endocrinologist hadn't asked me about my history with mental illness before she prescribed me this medication, and unfortunately, the pill magnified my severe depression progressively throughout my three packs. Because of it, I am more emotionally fragile and cry very easily. My anxiety has been heightened to a point where I can't go outside at the risk of panicking, and I'm constantly very jittery/shaky. I would not recommend this product for women experiencing any sort of depression or anxiety."

For Birth Control "I have been on Blisovi for over a year, and just recently I have decided to switch. This was my first BC, so I had no clue what to expect, so when I spotted nearly every month, I thought it was normal. After talking with my doctor, she told me it was obviously not, but to give it more time. It never stopped, and I have basically had two periods every month for the duration of me taking it (and I take it at the same time every day). As well as spotting, I have terrible mood swings, bad cramps, bloating, and my anxiety has increased. The only positives I have about this BC are that I have no acne, and I have not experienced any weight gain."

For Birth Control "I have been taking this pill for about 2 months. It works great for preventing pregnancy. This is the only form of protection I use, and I haven't gotten pregnant, so that's nice. However, I have had some unfortunate side effects, including pretty intense nausea and headaches. My anxiety and depression worsened a lot. I would suggest that if you have a history of depression and/or anxiety, do not take this medication! However, if you're pretty mentally stable, I think it's a great option! It didn't make my periods heavy and constant like Nexplanon did."

For Birth Control "I started taking this birth control in June 2019 to help with my severe cramps and heavy periods. For the first few months, the only side effects I experienced were breast tenderness, and I was very emotional, but it was tolerable. It definitely helped with my periods. After 4 months of being on this pill, the side effects got way worse. For the last two months, my anxiety and depression spiked like crazy. I woke up in the middle of EVERY night with horrible anxiety and couldn’t fall back asleep. It got so bad to the point that I went to the hospital, thinking something was physically wrong with me. I also haven’t gotten my period for the past two months, which was a little weird. Reading these reviews, now I understand. I stopped taking the pill for about 3 weeks now, and I do sometimes get nauseous, but my mental health has definitely improved. I feel much better and can’t wait for everything to be back to normal. I will definitely try a different brand of birth control soon."

For Birth Control "I never write reviews for anything, but I felt like I needed to write a review for this, to help others make the decision to STOP taking this birth control (and BC in general). While on this BC, I experienced mood swings, anxiety, weight gain, migraines, dizziness, nausea, acne flare-ups, and I even fainted while on this and ended up in the ER. So I decided to stop taking this BC, and after stopping it (it's been 7 months off it now), I still don't have a regular cycle (I have not had my period in 2 months). I developed pill-induced PCOS. BC pills stop ovarian function, and the bleeding you get every month on BC is NOT a real menstrual cycle. BC stops ovulation, so when you come off the pill, your body sometimes takes a while to ovulate on its own again. I really hope this post was able to educate those who did not know how bad birth control is for your body. Please do yourself a favor and don't take this!"

For Birth Control "I've never taken birth control before, and I was given this by my doctor because I have heavy bleeding and menstrual cramps. I only took this pill for 3 weeks, and they have been the worst 3 weeks of my life. I've struggled with depression, but this pill worsens my depression. I've had panic attacks, and my anxiety is almost unbearable. I'm always nauseous, and I'm unable to eat, and as a result, I've lost a ton of weight. As someone that's already very skinny, this is not a good side effect. I went from being a pretty active, healthy individual to a depressed, always tired, and irritable mess. I've been off the pill for about a week, and I'm still experiencing symptoms. Hopefully, they will go away."

For Birth Control "I used to take Microgestin and never had any side effects, but my doctor switched me to this pill and I hate it. I am a happy person, and I have never had so many mood swings in my life. I feel anxious all the time, and I had never gotten migraines until I started taking this pill. I am quick to get mad, and I don't feel like myself. My periods are super light, which is nice, but I am always 2 days late when on this pill... I am going back to the doctor to switch back to Microgestin."

For Birth Control "So I went to my OB-GYN back in September 2018 to get on birth control, as I had gotten a boyfriend and didn't want to get pregnant. I’ve been taking it ever since then, and I’ve gained at least 25 pounds! I also had never really noticed any anxiety or extreme mood swings until I started this BC! I freak out over little things, I have major anxiety attacks and crying outbursts, especially around or on my period. I have yet to go back to my OB-GYN to talk about it or change it. The only thing it’s done so far is keep me not pregnant. I still would not recommend."

For Birth Control "Took this pill for about 6 and a half weeks. I started taking it for heavy periods. It totally cured that problem in the first month...hardly had a period at all. HOWEVER, I progressively began to experience more and more anxiety. It culminated on a vacation, and I thought that I would have to return home. My heart was racing, and I felt like I was experiencing huge releases of adrenaline -- like when you're startled. The feeling would come and go in severity multiple times a day out of the blue. It became so unbearable that I called the doctor's office while I was on vacation. The nurse advised me to stop taking the medication that day and suggested that it may have altered my thyroid levels. It took two days for me to feel halfway normal again. Now, a week later, I feel much, much better. While the effect of the pill on my period was amazing, it is simply not worth the side effects for me."

For Birth Control "After being off of BC for 19 years, I decided I was tired of my horrible PMS symptoms and asked my Dr. to give me BC so I could skip my periods. The last BC I was on was Seasonale, 1 period every 3 months. It was awesome. Since I've started this pill, I have experienced anxiety attacks and constantly feeling sad, not me at all! The worse part of it is the bleeding, I have skipped my period for the last 7 months, but that hasn't stopped the bleeding. I have been bleeding for 2 weeks now. Since I've started this pill, I probably have had 2 days of not spotting. I bled for 17 days at first. This sucks!"

For Birth Control "I started taking this birth control in mid-December (so it’s been about 2 months since I’ve been on it). In the first month, I experienced severe anxiety (and had my first anxiety attack). In month 2, I’ve noticed my acne has gotten a bit worse, but it’s still manageable, so I’m not fully complaining about that. My periods used to be 8 days long of constant heavy flow, and now they’re 2-4 days of light. So I think it’s a good brand for when you want a light period, just sucks when your boyfriend thinks you’re psycho some days, haha."

For Birth Control "Took this birth control for 2 months. Gave me headaches, constant cramps, and nausea, which I understand is somewhat common for the adjustment period, however, the anxiety I experienced while taking this was UNBEARABLE. An actual living nightmare. I was having a full-blown panic attack every single day, if not more than one, to the point where I was actually sleeping at my parents' house every night because my level of functioning/mental stability was so low. Also, it somehow managed to make my period worse than it already was. Do not recommend."

For Birth Control "I've been on Blisovi 24 Fe for almost a year. The entire time I’ve had an ongoing yeast infection that won’t go away. My anxiety has skyrocketed while my libido has greatly decreased. I’ve had extreme dryness and more migraines on the pill than I’ve ever had in my life. I never used to have bad cramps when getting periods, but now I get cramps so bad I can hardly move, and I have to keep a heating pad on my lower back just to be able to stand it. I’ve been super depressed, and it’s given me more acne. I haven’t gotten pregnant, so it’s doing its job, but I can’t wait to change."

For Birth Control "I've only been on Blisovi for 3 weeks but am liking it so far. I previously took Monoliny/Sprintec with the intention to make my period symptoms more bearable. It was a nightmare and I was terrified to try a new birth control like Blisovi after how unpleasant my previous experience was. I was actually pleasantly surprised! My nausea now is minimal, mood swings and anxiety a little more manageable, and my depression a bit lighter. My appetite has actually decreased instead of increased. As I said, it's only been 3 weeks but they've been just fine. My only complaint so far is some dryness. It doesn't give me a sour smell like my previous birth control but sometimes the dryness is uncomfortable. Some days are worse than others. I never needed lube during sex until now, but I suppose that's a small price to pay so long as it doesn't get worse. It's just because it's a low estrogen dosage, which can cause dryness, so be aware!"

For Birth Control "I had to have a cholecystectomy (removal of the gallbladder) at the age of 18 as a result of taking this medication. I have FNH (focal nodular hyperplasia; also known as a benign tumor on the liver) as well. In addition, I have a severe inability to handle emotions now. I believe I have some sort of depression or anxiety that was not present before. That being said, I have not had a period since I started taking the medication. It has prevented pregnancy as well."

For Birth Control "It caused extreme anxiety and depression. Once I was off of it for just one week, I felt extreme relief. Totally alters lifestyle. Hardly got periods but did spot."

For Birth Control "To start off, I have been on this birth control for a little over a year. I have felt absolutely amazing on it until recently, a few months back, I started having incredible anxiety, heart palpitations, and lack of motivation, etc. Out of nowhere. Even to this day, I still feel like I'm in a constant state of panic and worry. I mean, to the point where it has affected literally everything in my daily life. I have always had anxiety, but NEVER like this. I also have Hashimoto's, and I thought maybe it was my thyroid medication that had caused me to feel this way. Test after test, and more blood work, but nothing showed up. I have been so caught up thinking about my thyroid medication that I completely forgot about it potentially being my BC. After reading the reviews, I realized that this may be the case. I had visited my Ob-Gyn prior to reading these reviews, and my plan is to take a 'pill holiday' off of birth control pills for 2-3 months, then see how I feel. Hope this helps!"
