Cyclobenzaprine for Muscle Spasm "I was apprehensive about taking this after reading the reviews, but my experience has been positive. I had jaw surgery 6.5 weeks ago, and at about 5 weeks, my left condyle slipped off the disc and stayed there (slipped TMJ disc). I couldn't open my mouth anymore without sharp pain. Swallowing hurt, talking hurt, sometimes even moving my head hurt. It was like this for 6 days before I was able to see my surgeon and get a prescription. The next day after I started Flexeril, the pain improved. The day after, I could chew a little. Today is day four, and I'm amazed at how much better my joint feels, I can open comfortably, and I'm not in constant pain anymore. The side effects for me have been minimal. Maybe a little more tired, but honestly, I hardly notice. My mouth is a bit dry too. The great irony, however, is that I still get jaw spasms. On that count, it's been completely ineffective. But they don't bother me too much, I only get a few per day, and if I open too wide."

Cyclobenzaprine for Fibromyalgia "This medicine has been amazing for me. I was unable to sleep on my right side for the last 5 years due to pain, and now I can, with almost no pain. The only downsides are that it causes extreme dry mouth for me (which gets worse when I am nervous) and constipation. But it is worth it for the pain relief I am getting."

For Fibromyalgia "I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia a few years back, and there was no way to help control my pain and stiffness except narcotic pain pills. About a year ago, I started trying to take Flexeril during the day to help with the tight feeling tenderness. It made me too drowsy to use during the day. So then I started to take 10 mg at night, and it helped some with the muscle tenderness. I then tried taking 20 mg at night, and it really helps with the next day tenderness. I take it in conjunction with Lyrica, and it works well to ease most of the fibromyalgia pain. The only problem is that it leaves me with a dry mouth in the morning. The drowsiness isn't a problem as long as it's taken at night. It relaxes all the muscles, and that helps the fibromyalgia pain."

For Fibromyalgia "I take cyclobenzaprine occasionally for fibromyalgia pain and overuse of muscles from crocheting. I can't tolerate more than 7.5 mg per night because it will cause leg cramps. It's a good sleep and relaxation aid. If it didn't dry my mouth out so terribly, I'd give it a 10."

For Sciatica "I notice no pain relief from this drug. It makes me extremely sleepy throughout the day and causes my mouth to stay dry. At least I get a good night's sleep, but I wake up feeling groggy and never get going after that. Sometimes causes me to feel confused, but maybe that is the groggy effect returning. I'm male, 42 years old, and in good health overall."

Cyclobenzaprine "Bad car wreck left me with damaged nerves in the entire left side of my body, it feels like it is ruined. The wreck was approximately 7 months ago. I was prescribed cyclobenzaprine just about 4 days ago and took it in combination with nabumetone 500 mg. It helped with the spasms, but I feel as if the side effects outweigh the good that it's done so far. Haven't eaten in almost an entire day because the dry mouth and throat won't let me. Even tried creamy oatmeal, and I just don't feel like eating it at all. Even tried eating a banana but only ended up taking about 3 bites of it before throwing it away. I definitely feel as if this prescription might not be right for whatever my condition might be. I'm only 25 years old, by the way. My PCP prescribed cyclobenzaprine 5 mg tablets twice a day."

For Muscle Spasm "I have severe lower back pain from spinal stenosis. I took this medication yesterday in the morning, and I could not stay awake. I was so drowsy and lethargic. My mouth was dry, and I had a bad headache. It did help with the muscle spasms, but the side effects from this were not worth it for me. I hated the way it made me feel."

For Muscle Spasm "I was rear-ended in an auto accident. The second doctor I saw for the whiplash injury prescribed cyclobenzaprine as well as 800 mg ibuprofen. The two work quite well together. I'm able to move with more ease during the day. It also has helped quite a bit with muscle spasms at night. The only side effects I've had are dry mouth and some minor dizzy spells."

For Sciatica "I took 10 mg for just over a week at bedtime to help me sleep for back pain, but the loss of taste, or as some say 'cotton mouth,' is still with me 4 days after stopping the medicine, and the grogginess is still in my system."

For Muscle Spasm "I find Flexeril to be less effective than Soma but better than Skelaxin. It has potent anticholinergic effects like dry mouth and in some people drowsiness. I personally don't find even 20mg sedating, but I also take Valium (diazepam) at the max dose; my Valium is also a better muscle relaxant than Flexeril. I recently hurt my lower back resulting in very painful spasms when walking. I was prescribed Flexeril 10mg T.I.D. I took one, didn't get relief, and took another 10mg tablet about an hour later. This drug takes a while to work but I did notice some benefits as far as making my spasms less painful along with some light sedation. Be aware that Flexeril is a tricyclic and is related to amitriptyline, so both share similar side effects."

For Muscle Spasm "Was given for back spasms and headaches. Made my headaches much worse, really didn't do a thing for my spasms. Did give me dry mouth. After taking 3 pills daily for 4 days, I stopped on my own. Why bother, enough."

For Muscle Spasm "I'm a 34-year-old male, work out regularly, and was prescribed cyclobenzaprine for back pain related to a pulled muscle. Was used in conjunction with physical therapy, and the drug helped me get sleep and function during the day by mitigating pain and spasms. Side effects: severe constipation. Constipation persisted for over a week after I stopped taking the drug. Had to see a doctor about it. I highly suggest taking laxatives while taking this medicine. Also made me very drowsy. Experienced dry mouth when taking at night before bed as well."

For Muscle Spasm "I am trying to come off Valium and experiencing some upper body and neck tension when my doc lowered my dose, so my pharmacist recommended asking for a muscle relaxer to help with withdrawals. I took only 1/4 of 10 mg the first night, it didn’t do much but made me very sleepy. The next two nights I took only 0.5 mg, and it seemed to help with the muscle tension, but it made me so sleepy I could sleep for almost 12 hours straight, and that was even skipping my nightly Valium dose. I only took this medication by itself. It also made my mouth so dry when I woke up I thought I was gonna stop breathing from how dry it felt, it just wasn’t good. I really like it for the tension relief, but not that it makes me so tired and have dry mouth, and it did nothing for my anxiety-related tremors either. I will probably be asking for something else."
