"I started on Prempro on September 2, 2013 for my night sweats, hot flashes and mood swings. I was on it for almost two months. The first month was fine, but during the second month I developed way too many severe side effects. I had: swelling of hands and ankles, breast enlargement and pain, severe bloating, vaginal irritation, acne, my mood swings worsten, and I gained a lot weight gain. The night sweats and the hot flashes got better, but the side effects were much worst then the night sweats and hot flashes. I started on Healthy Woman Soy Menopause Supplement and it took care of the night sweats and hot flashes without all of the other side effects. This drug is definitely not for everybody and my advice would be to listen to your body!"

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "I have been on Prempro for 6 years until recently I developed lymphadenopathy a breast cancer in lymph and glands with no primary source in my breast or body. I have been off since this finding as hormone replacement will feed cancer. I also had a hereditary gene study done and it was negative. The only thing left is this caused my cancer and a very very bad surgery… please ladies don’t take this medication . I can’t stress enough yes it helped my mood and my hot flashes but in the end I’ve been going thru a nightmare . Do your research ! There’s was a 330 million dollar lawsuit against prempro…. Please stop using it ! I hope this helps someone…. My recovery is still on going but I’m healing daily ."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "So I was taking Remifemin which wasn’t working for me so I asked My Doctor about HRT I was having severe hot flashes at night where I was soaking wet and hot flashes maybe 3 to 4 an hour at 48 years old and I’ve stopped my period pretty much eight months ago. I am on my fourth day and really haven’t seen a difference in hot flashes and night sweats yet still bloated and very sensitive like crying at really stupid stuff..lol. I’m looking forward to seeing how this medication works but it is awfully expensive but thank God I can somewhat afford it"

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "I was 52 when I started with the night sweats. Never had any hot flashes durning the day. (Thank God) The night sweats kept me up and down most nights. After sharing this with my doctor, right away I was prescribed Prempro. It was a little expensive, but worth it. I took it for three years. Throughout the years, I began to have a menstrual cycle. I can recall having one for six weeks. I was in and out of the doctor's office frequently. The final conclusion was it was a side effect of the medication. I have been off of it now for six weeks and things are not so bad at all."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "It was a miracle for me. Within a week, I could sleep, have energy, and enjoy normal things again. I don’t get why I had to beg for almost 4 months to be allowed on it. 3 years later and not a single side effect"

"I have been on Prempro for 15 years. I am 57 now and have not had any problems. I call this my chill pill, works great for me. Yesterday my doctor took me off of them and gave me another pill called activella, she said I have been on Prempro long enough and wants me to try the other pill. Wish me luck don't know anything about Activella."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "I've taken Prempro for years since I was 45. I've always bought it from online Canada pharmacy best Rx (w prescription). Recently ran out, didn’t think much of it. Had a dr appt. Within 2 weeks I've had the worst hot flashes and all other menopause symptoms. Honestly couldn’t believe how uncomfortable. I ordered from Canada, but cuz of timing, had to pay (Walmart cheapest) $233 copay for a 28 day supply. 5 days with Rx it’s getting better, still have unbearable heat flushes, but less of them. Ask dr for written rx, scan it to Best Rx, then go buy 1 month supply. Stage your Canada purchases cuz can take 4-5 weeks. It cost $98 for 90 day supply, 10/12/22 just takes awhile to get it and they send Premarin m(Pfizer estrogen med)+ progesterone, which is what I’ve taken as ‘prempro’ for a decade. My doc gives me .0625 /2.5 and said to take it every other day. My mother took Premarin until she was 85, could still ride bike, great bones & skin!"

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "After having a complete hysterectomy I started hot flashes that same day of the surgery. At my 2 week post op I was a mess, wasn’t sleeping, hot flashes, crazy emotionally. My doctor started me on prempro. Sticker shock on the cost, $206 for a 1 month supply! After a month I felt great, sleeping and less emotional. A few months in I started experiencing migraines and awful cramps in my legs. I didn’t want to go off the prempro but the migraines were happening so often that I couldn’t get my work done so I had to discontinue it after 6 months. I’ve since switched to a doctor that uses a compounding pharmacy and trying to find the right combination of hormones."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "I was lucky to not experience menopause until 55 but moderate hot flashes became annoying so dr prescribed low dose Prempro. At first everything seemed fine but after couple months acne and weight gain ruined it for me. I was seriously waking up every couple days with new pimples and I’ve had good skin my whole life. Weight gain and bloating also started and I’ve been thin my entire life. So no way I’m living with blotchy bad skin and pot belly to solve a few hot flashes."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "I started the lowest dose of Prempro just 5 days ago. The GYN said it would stop/diminish the hot flashes, which in the last 5 months have been so debilitating I'm barely functioning. (Roughly every 45-90 minutes, for 8 minutes each, 24/7) I have been astonishingly moody, weepy and fearful for the last 3 days, more than I can ever remember being since I was a teenager and new to my periods. However, I've lost most of my appetite and although I feel 10x more stressed out inside, despite meditation and yoga, I will continue for as long as I can endure it because it's such a relief to be having fewer hot flashes. (Not gone, but maybe half as many!) However, at several hundred dollars per month for the drug, this won't last long. I figure I'll give myself a two month break from hot flashes and then go back to suffering."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "I am just starting on PremPro. My insurance charges over $670 a month due to deductible. I looked at Canadian pharmacies and it is a tiny fraction of the price! Everyone you can Google Canadian pharmacies and get it CHEAPER! Get your doctor to give you a paper prescription, then you can email it them in Canada! Good luck!"

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "I have been on prempro for 25 years. Every time I try to wean myself off I feel tired, moody, bones hurt and not happy. My dr thinks I should try weening myself off again, my husband says oh no.. the worlds not ready for that. I call it my happy pill. I’m 65 just tried again and decided if I am going to die rather die happy than how I feel without it"

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "Day 3 and I am floored! My doctor didn't have high hopes that it would help with my depression/anxiety but it has 100%! I can deal with stresses now. Moisture and sexual attraction has returned. I am sleeping through the night. I am not having moodiness and short temper. I am able to concentrate and perform daily tasks. There is a mental clarity now. I just feel so well and happy! I am so grateful, I am saved! Side effects so far, mild headache, gas and constipation.A ll are easily treatable. I also noticed that my hot flashes have increased a bit. I was managing those pretty well with Estroven which I am still taking but for some reason I am getting them again. If I have to, I will live with them as long as I can continue to feel this peaceful. Aetna denied coverage saying it isn't medically necessary for me so I paid out of pocket. I am switching to United Healthcare next month, they cover it as a tier 3, still expensive but $100 vs $140 out of pocket. Tough on the wallet but worth it!!!"

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "Pros: Better mood, sexual functioning back to normal (great!) Cons: Every day terrible bloating, gas, and constipation. On third week, sudden terrible water retention in legs made walking uncomfortable for me (I'm normally very athletic). I'm not sure if the severe migraine I had 10 days ago was the Prempro or not, but its suspicious since I had to go in for injections on emergency for the first time from my headache specialist I plan on NOT taking it in the morning and calling my doctor about the water retention. (I already called regarding the other side effects, but the edema occurred after that phone call today. Anyway, I was going to just ask for either a lower dose or an option a friend recommended (bijuva). But now, I just want to switch meds all together. This amount of edema just wont cut it for me!"

For Oophorectomy "I am 22 and underwent Oophorectomy surgery following 2 massive ovarian cysts on each ovary. Right out of surgery I was prescribed Prempro and had to take it. I experienced hot flashes for the first few days. The Dr told me that if I felt bloated I can skip a week and I will have a small period, which I have done. I had cramps and sporadic bleeding, but the bloating never went away. I have gained a lot of weight that has been really hard to lose and I have been on this medicine for only 3 months. I also have really bad acne all over my face that I haven't had since Junior High. Once I go back to the Drs I will be asking to try another Hormone Replacement Therapy."

"I enjoyed reading all the comments. I literally took my first pill last night. I will be 50 in August and for the last 2 years I’ve had hot flashes, day and night, can’t sleep and terrible leg cramps where I would need to get up in the middle of the night and walk. My doctor suggested I take it at night at the same time every day! She wants to see me in 4 weeks because my blood pressure was a bit high at my appointment. Never had an issue with my pressure. I think I was just nervous. I hope my experience will be a good one!"

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "I had been on Enjuvia (plus a progesterone supplement) for 3+ years and they worked fantastic from day 1!!! Unfortunately, they have stopped making it for reasons I can't find. I was put on Divagel and I gained 15 pounds in 3 weeks, plus the leg (including my foot) I put it on swelled up like a balloon, among other side effects. I have been on Prempro for 6 days now and my hot flashes/night sweats are worse than ever, but all my other "problems" seem to be OK. The Dr.'s office said to give it a month, wish me luck!!!"

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "I am 52 and I've tried everything for hot flashes nothing really works so my GYN tested my Prolactin levels they were pretty high and that causes hot flashes. I recommend checking prolactin levels. Also I have tried Prempro but it made my throat itchy possible allergic reaction. Anti-anxiety medications helped me with my hot flashes alot."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "Had a partial hysterectomy at 43 and went into full menopause. Sweat and felt like my back was on fire and burning pain down to my toes. Was on estrogen for 5 years and my really didn’t help, was put on highest dose of prempro about 7 years ago and everything went away then my oncologist retired 3 years ago so my primary wanted me to wean off it so started dropping the dosage and was doing great then went to the lowest doing so good I thought in April I could stop it, boy not a good idea going on the lowest dose again personally it will be something I will take forever as long as I can afford it. Cancer does not run in my family so I feel safe and much happier on this med."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "Have been on Prempro for almost a year. Did help with the hot flashes. I do experience a lot of headaches. I have also had a lot of hair loss since taking this. Just got in a letter from my pharmacy saying they will no longer pay for Prempro and giving me covered alternatives. Such as Estradiol-norethindron acetate, fyavolv, jinteli, mimvey and norethindrone-ethin estadiol. Does anyone take any of this HRT alternatives, if so what is your experience? Also, has anyone had hair loss from Prempro or any other HRT's?"
