For Postmenopausal Symptoms "I was having night sweats, waking every hour, hot flashes, etc. Asked my doctor about HRT and decided I wanted pill form. It took about 1 month for all symptoms to go away. I have been on Prempro (lowest dose available) for 10 years and love it! I just recently had a spot on my mammogram that scared me, which turned out to be a cyst. So I decided to go off Prempro. It has been 6 weeks and I miss it. I have begun to have some hot flashes, night sweats, and headaches. My mood actually seems to have improved, but who knows? This year has been crazy for all. I want to go back on it as I felt younger, better skin, etc. As a side note, I was on birth control pills for 20 years."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "Immediately following my very last period, I started having severe hot flashes. So bad that they made me jump out of bed. Changes clothes or I'd start freezing, even in mid-summer. So, I started low-dose Prempro. It took about 5 days to start helping. After taking it for about 8 months, it stopped working. I even tried taking it twice a day a couple of times, thinking the dose was too low, but still no help. So now I'm going to go to another different doctor to see what else can be done to prevent my misery. Also, I want to mention that since menopause, I have zero interest in sexual relations with my husband. I just wondered if anyone else has had this medication work then stop altogether? Thank you for reading my story. I sure hope to find something."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "Menopause started at 50. The hot flashes were so miserable that it was difficult to function. I was having four per hour, each lasting 4-6 minutes, 24/7. I wasn't sleeping, was difficult to work, and just plain miserable. My doctor put me on a low dose, which helped a little, then increased to 0.625 mg. That was perfect. That was eight years ago. My husband retired a couple of months ago, so I lost insurance. I was hoping after eight years, I might not need Prempro any longer, so I weaned myself off. The hot flashes are back just as bad as eight years ago. I have new insurance, but my co-pay used to be $20.00. It's now $162. I can't afford it at that price. I broke down and purchased it to get relief. I'm looking at different options. Without insurance, it would cost well over $200.00. We only have one pharmacy in town. I tried using a coupon app, and the coupon was for $206.00. That wasn't helpful. I will be looking at other options where I might be able to get it through the mail from a different pharmacy."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "I have been on Prempro for 6 years. Until recently, I developed lymphadenopathy, a breast cancer in lymph and glands with no primary source in my breast or body. I have been off since this finding, as hormone replacement will feed cancer. I also had a hereditary gene study done, and it was negative. The only thing left is this caused my cancer and a very, very bad surgery… Please, ladies, don’t take this medication. I can’t stress enough-yes, it helped my mood and my hot flashes, but in the end, I’ve been going through a nightmare. Do your research! There was a 330 million dollar lawsuit against Prempro… Please stop using it! I hope this helps someone… My recovery is still ongoing, but I’m healing daily."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "I have experienced terrible hot flashes for over a year now. GYN said I was in menopause (at 51), so started on Prempro (1.5 mg) two weeks ago. Hot flashes are almost none, started my period this month after not having one in almost a year... bummer! My husband and kids say I'm more moody and not myself. I've noticed I am less tolerable (that could be my age) of things I normally would be. Also, not as hungry as normal. Overall, I feel better so far, still early."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "I'm 44 years old. I haven't had a period in over 4 years. My hormones were out of whack. My symptoms I was having were hair loss, hot flashes, and I was mean and hateful. My doctor put me on Prempro. I've been on it for a month now... Hot flashes are gone. My hair stopped falling out. My breasts didn't get too bad tender, but they did get fuller. My mood has not changed, I'm still moody. I already had acid reflux, and Prempro made it even worse! My feet feel a little swollen, or at least my shoes feel tighter. And I do feel a little bloated. I've decided to stop taking Prempro. I would rather deal with the hot flashes and hair loss than the acid reflux flare-ups."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "So I was taking Remifemin, which wasn’t working for me, so I asked my doctor about HRT. I was having severe hot flashes at night, where I was soaking wet, and hot flashes maybe 3 to 4 an hour at 48 years old, and I’ve stopped my period pretty much eight months ago. I am on my fourth day and really haven’t seen a difference in hot flashes and night sweats yet, still bloated and very sensitive, like crying at really stupid stuff... lol. I’m looking forward to seeing how this medication works, but it is awfully expensive, but thank God I can somewhat afford it."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "I've taken Prempro for years since I was 45. I've always bought it from an online Canada pharmacy, Best Rx (with prescription). Recently ran out, didn’t think much of it. Had a doctor's appointment. Within 2 weeks, I've had the worst hot flashes and all other menopause symptoms. Honestly, couldn’t believe how uncomfortable. I ordered from Canada, but because of timing, had to pay (Walmart cheapest) $233 copay for a 28-day supply. 5 days with Rx, it’s getting better, still have unbearable heat flushes, but less of them. Ask the doctor for a written Rx, scan it to Best Rx, then go buy a 1-month supply. Stage your Canada purchases because it can take 4-5 weeks. It cost $98 for a 90-day supply, 10/12/22 just takes a while to get it and they send Premarin (Pfizer estrogen med) + progesterone, which is what I’ve taken as ‘Prempro’ for a decade. My doctor gives me 0.0625 /2.5 and said to take it every other day. My mother took Premarin until she was 85, could still ride a bike, great bones & skin!"

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "After having a complete hysterectomy, I started hot flashes that same day of the surgery. At my 2-week post-op, I was a mess, wasn’t sleeping, hot flashes, crazy emotionally. My doctor started me on Prempro. Sticker shock on the cost, $206 for a 1-month supply! After a month, I felt great, sleeping and less emotional. A few months in, I started experiencing migraines and awful cramps in my legs. I didn’t want to go off Prempro, but the migraines were happening so often that I couldn’t get my work done, so I had to discontinue it after 6 months. I’ve since switched to a doctor that uses a compounding pharmacy and am trying to find the right combination of hormones."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "I've been taking Prempro for the past month. The first week, my hot flashes got worse, but by week 2, they started to cool off. So far, I like what I'm feeling, but I can't sleep without my fan. I think I'm gaining weight. Today I got my second refill, and I started searching for more info. To be honest, what I read really scared me and made me rethink if I should continue taking it."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "I had been on Enjuvia (plus a progesterone supplement) for 3+ years, and they worked fantastic from day one! Unfortunately, they have stopped making it for reasons I can't find. I was put on Divagel, and I gained 15 pounds in 3 weeks, plus the leg (including my foot) I put it on swelled up like a balloon, among other side effects. I have been on Prempro for 6 days now, and my hot flashes/night sweats are worse than ever, but all my other 'problems' seem to be okay. The doctor's office said to give it a month, wish me luck!"

For Oophorectomy "I am 22 and underwent oophorectomy surgery following 2 massive ovarian cysts on each ovary. Right out of surgery, I was prescribed Prempro and had to take it. I experienced hot flashes for the first few days. The doctor told me that if I felt bloated, I could skip a week and I would have a small period, which I have done. I had cramps and sporadic bleeding, but the bloating never went away. I have gained a lot of weight that has been really hard to lose, and I have been on this medicine for only 3 months. I also have really bad acne all over my face that I haven't had since junior high. Once I go back to the doctors, I will be asking to try another hormone replacement therapy."

"I enjoyed reading all the comments. I literally took my first pill last night. I will be 50 in August, and for the last 2 years, I’ve had hot flashes, day and night, can’t sleep, and terrible leg cramps where I would need to get up in the middle of the night and walk. My doctor suggested I take it at night at the same time every day! She wants to see me in 4 weeks because my blood pressure was a bit high at my appointment. Never had an issue with my pressure. I think I was just nervous. I hope my experience will be a good one!"

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "I’m 54 and have been experiencing menopausal symptoms since I turned 50. After 4 years of suffering from hot flashes, night sweats, sleep deprivation, and worsening vaginal dryness/discomfort, I decided to start Prempro at the lowest dose. I’ve been on it now for about 6 months. After 2 weeks of taking it, my hot flashes and night sweats were completely gone. It was truly amazing. My sleep and my vaginal symptoms improved too. However, after about 3 - 3 1/2 months of taking it, I noticed significant hair loss. I thought my body just needed more time to adjust, so I kept taking it and my hair kept falling out, and it didn’t let up. It’s become so thin. Now I’m in the process of weaning off of Prempro because I don’t want to go bald. It’s so depressing because it was helping me in every other way. But it’s either go bald and feel good or keep my hair and feel horrible. Again, depressing."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "Yes, I have started taking Prempro about a week ago. This medication does not take long to see the symptoms of your hot flashes decrease, and sleeping habits are better. If you are not seeing any symptom change, you may need to up the mgs from 1.0 mg to 2.5 mg."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "I feel extremely fortunate to have had a female MD at the time I hit menopause. I was 50, and my husband died around the same time menopause hit. My MD prescribed Prempro 0.3/1.5, and I believe this has kept my body healthy for the past 19 years, and yes, I am still taking Prempro today. I still maintain a healthy sex life (with my long-term partner), my bone density is good, and my overall health is very good. My gynecologist refused to prescribe this many years ago, but my PCP continues to prescribe this for me. All my friends are just now learning about the health benefits of HRT, for many, it is too late, and some prefer to use bioidentical or natural hormones. Prempro helped me through my grief, it helped with hot flashes and night sweats, and helped prevent weight gain. It is very expensive, hopefully a generic someday soon! I will reach out to Pfizer to see about some sort of discount."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "Suffered from decreased mental ability, probably due to hot flashes that would last all day. Have been taking Prempro for 5 months and am now experiencing some pretty major depression."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "I was feeling stuck in perpetual PMS. I was really moody, starving all the time, tired and unmotivated, and gaining weight. Hot flashes were about to finish me off. My doctor gave me a prescription for Prempro. I noticed a difference in 2 days! I am so much less moody, have more motivation, and way less hungry. Tonight will be my 4th dose, and I honestly cannot wait to see how I feel after a week."
