"Do not be scared to take this medication! I was like most people who were reading these comments and my anxiety was going crazy just thinking about the side effects! I had a bad experience years ago with the powder form I ended up throwing up but this time I was positive for Chlamydia and the Dr prescribed two 500mg tablets along with an anti nausea pill to take before hand. I ate a good size meal for dinner then after 30min I took the anti nausea pill then waited about 45min to take both 500mg pills then like after 15 minutes I got real sleepy and took a nap. I woke up a couple hours later with a minor stomach ache and had a loose bowel motion and after that I went back to sleep and felt completely fine! Just ask the dr for the anti nausea pill just to be on the safe side and make sure you have some food in your system you will be fine"

"I want to point out that I'm 20 5'4 and 125lbs so effects will likely vary. I waited till bedtime to take the (2) 500mg pills because of the listed side effects. Immediately after I felt dizziness and a tad queasy. I slept way longer than usual so I assume the medicine was doing its job. Typically I'm up by 6:30-7, but I didn't get up till almost 10. I had diarrhea that morning...The sluggish, drowsy feeling lasted the entire day along with a slight headache. I felt an awful pain in my abdomen on my way to class too but that went away after about an hr. thats pretty much it my partner took the same medicine that had been prescribed by his doc. and didn't experience any of this. Im just super glad that it's treatable."

"I took 4 azithromycin pills (equaling a gram) that I was prescribed for chlamyia, and by the second one they were hard to swallow. I got food after and once I took my third bite I felt instantly sick. Once I got home I went to the bathroom and laid down. The pain that was in my stomach went to my back and I was worried my infection had taken a turn for the worse but I see after reading these reviews side effects can vary and be a wild ride!! In all, if it works it’s worth it."

"18, FIRST gyno visit, and I tested positive for chlamydia, BV and a yeast infection. How embarrassing. For chlamydia, doc prescribed 1 dose of a 1000 mg pill of azithro. I had zero side effects. I got retested 2 months later and results came back still positive even though I abstained from sex. Treatment must not have worked :( this time around I was prescribed two 500mg azithro pills. TAKE THESE PILLS AT NIGHT BEFORE BED. the side effects only lasted 2 hours max. IF YOU FEEL NAUSEOUS, take deep breaths and lay on your left side. I have no advice for diarrhea lol I'm still running to the bathroom. fingers crossed it works this time."

Zithromax (azithromycin) "So, I tested positive for chlamydia today. I went in for a 6 month checkup and bam..positive. I am furious! First time ever having to deal with a sti. Anyways, I'm allergic to "cillins" so I was prescribed two 500mg. Tablets of zithromax. Took then right at my doctors around 3:30. My stomach started churning around 6:30, no nausea or vomiting. Come 8pm, It was like a waterfall out my poop hole. Only one bout so far, but I'm sure there will be more. Had some slight stomach pain but nothing unbearable. Waiting to find out how my partners feeling lol!!!"

"I had four 250mg of azithromycin and felt fine straight after. I hadn't read the reviews and didn't know what was to happen next. BOOM two and a half hours later I there was a waterfall coming out my butt and felt like I was about to throw up! My temperature rapidly increased and I had terrible stomach pains! The next day I continue to feel ill having awful stomach pains but not once did I poo! Definitely learnt my lesson! 100% making sure the boy covers up:/"

"Doctor called and told me I had chlamydia today, I just got four pills of Azithromycin and took them all an hour ago. As I was driving home I had to vomit ASAP! Pulled over on the highway and was sick for 15 mins. Now my stomach is in a lot of pain + diarrhea"

"The first time I took azithromycin I was given 2 pills, 250 mg each 500mg total. I went back to a new doctor 3 months later to be retested, turns out I still had chlamydia.. my new doctor prescribed me 4 pills for a total of 1000 mg. Everything I’m reading says that only 1000 mg will cure this, hopefully a higher does does the trick this time, other than not being cured the first time I had no side effects, I took the medicine with a glass of milk each time and felt fine."

"I have chlamydia. My doctor prescribed me this medication (two 500mg to be accurate. I don't know why people are complaining of vomit and diarrhea, I would consider myself a person with a weak stomach. I get nauseous easily over anything. This medication did not give me any side effects. I took the two pills at the same time then ate some food (not a lot) a couple hours later I lost my appetite but I felt fine besides that. Without insurance the retail price for this is about $40."

"This will be my third time in 9 months taking this to cure chlamydia. I've always followed the directions, abstained from any form of sex for a few weeks and still have it. At this point I don't know if I am getting false positives or not, as I tested orally too and did not have it. Only vaginally. Again, no symptoms of chlamydia really. The only thing that I've noticed right around the time to get retested is I get bad migraines and a sore throat. No odors, discharge, burning, itching, etc. Will be taking two 500 mg pills. Then I have an extra dosage I plan on taking a week later to get this shit out of my system for sure."

"Just took this azithromycin today, two of the 500mg pills in one dose. I took the with my dinner which was not extremely heavy but not too light. 15 minutes later I’m vomiting. I thought it was my food, but I also had the same for lunch then I saw these reviews so I do know it was the medicine. I didn’t notice the pills in the vomit so hopefully they’re still there and will stick and stay lol. I will update this review after my next STD test in two weeks."

"I was prescribed 2 Azithromycin pills to cure my chlamydia. I took the two pills together followed by water and at least 15 mins later I started to fell nauseous. So I laid down however I felt like that was only making it worse. So I sat up the nausea went away, but then I started to get stomach cramps through the lower part of my stomach. I’m now having diarrhea and a slight headache. I’m going to continue staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water hopefully it’ll help. I’m just glad I was able to get the pills to get this over with. Considering everything I don’t mind the side effects as long as I’m cured."

"I took 4-250mg during 1 meal. My doctor said that this dose was enough for me to clear the infection. I am 5'3, 170lbs. To avoid stomach pain, vomiting or nausea, she suggested that I take 2 bites of my meal, take a pill.....2 more bites, take a pill and so forth. It worked well!"

"After going about a year with symptoms I decided to get tested. I was diagnosed with chlmydia. I had a sense of relief knowing it was something easily treatable but worried because I read that if it's not treated it can prevent fertility (I guess I will find out when I try and get pregnant. I am only 20, and kids are no where near my future.) I took two 500 mg tablets of azithromycin after eating (you can take it with or without food). I began having hot flashes and stomach pain within 30 min. It was nothing too serious. A few min later the stomach pain got worse. I knew it was time to hit the restroom. I had diarrhea, it went down pretty easy. I feel a lot better now, just a bit dizzy. I recommend taking it at the comfort of your home."

"So, I started seeing this new guy after getting out of a 2 year relationship. I figured to get a clean slate and know I'm 100% clean considering my last boyfriend cheated on me. So, I went and got tested only to find out that not only did he cheat on me, he also got chlamydia from this chick. Great. So, my doctor prescribed me two 500mg pills. "Take both pills at the same time and you'll be clean in 7 days" Ok pretty sweet deal right? NOT. 2 hours after taking this medication, I am GLUED TO MY TOILET! It literally feels like fire is coming out of my butt. It feels like Satan himself is being born out of my butt or maybe fireworks are coming out of there. So, thanks ex boyfriend for giving me chlamydia."

"I went to the doctors because of abnormal bleeding and got a urine test for chlamydia. He called me about a week later saying that I tested positive and needed to pick up a prescription for one dosage of two 500mg tablets. It was about an hour and a half later when I started feeling nauseous and had cramping. I went to the toilet and feel like I pooped all the liquids out of me (it was not pleasant). Now it's been about 5 hours since then and I'm still feeling a little off and have cramping but it's bearable. Hope everyone is alright and chlamydia free!"

"I took four 250mg azithromycin pills, 4 hours ago (for chlamydia). I have Mild-Moderate IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome). Honestly it's not as bad as these reviews make it seem. Within the first 2 minutes of swallowing the pills I felt my stomach frothing up, like mentos in coke. Bubbling and making fizzing sounds. Oddly enough, even with an annoying urge to burp that stayed with me for about an hour and half and only went away for about an hour before coming back, I still cannot burp, I have only burped once. Secondly, the worst, and by far the most uncomfortable side effect is a mild nausea, with the feeling of gas/air moving around in your stomach and intestines. P.S, none of these symptoms have anything to do with my IBS, if anything I thought this experience would be 5x times worse because of my IBS."

"I started getting symptoms late last night, so I went to the doctors this morning, and I was given a shot of rocephin and two tablets of azithromycin. Once I took the tablet I was actually feeling a little bit fine, only had a small stomach ache, and then some diarrhea, but that passed quickly. But four hours later, an hour after I had eaten a meal, I just started to experience the worst abdominal pain and diarrhea imaginable! It literally felt as if my insides were being turned inside out! It was the absolutely worst, but I am better now, the infection seems to be gone, and I am never having unprotected sex again, until I get married!"

"Doctors told me I had a yeast Infection that medicine didn’t work than come to find out I have chlamydia my doctors gave me 2 pills ( azithromycin ) I took them & 2 hours later I was getting ready for bed after eating a salad feeling great than here comes these weird pains in my stomach I couldn’t sleep so I start watching tv than boom! "I tested positive for Chlamydia and was prescribed two 500mg of this medication. I took it on an empty stomach and was 100% fine. The only thing I noticed was my lymph nodes began to swell up and were tender because they were trying to help fight the infection. 5 days in no headache, no swollen glands and no side effects. This medication works wonders!!!!!"

"Second time having chlamydia and absolutley the last! First time round I suffered from terrible diarrhoea, to the point where I actually couldn't hold it in (how embarrassing). Now it has been around 3 hours and I have a mild stomach ache and I feel sleepy. The drug is effective, as I already know, but the side effects are a pain. Couldn't stress enough to just have protected sex, none of this is worth it and boys can and will lie! Stay safe."

"straight to the point—-> I ate two egg & bacon sandwiches on Toast. One before taken the two pills and the other after taking the two pills. Listen: My doctor told me to eat a lil bit, take the pills then eat a lil bit more after taking the pills. I also washed everything down with a ginger ale. The only thing I experienced was muscle spasm in my legs & ass but other then that I am ok :) But you can avoid all of this just like I can...WRAP IT UP...no glove no love...Be safe my sisters & brothers:) & remember this as a lesson***"

"I sadly got chlamydia again and was once again prescribed two 500mg tablets to be taken at once. After about an hour of taking them I felt like I was going to die, my stomach hurt so bad I couldn't walk and taking deep breaths hurt so bad, its a stomach pain i wouldnt wish on anyone. I'm surprised I didn't throw up because I came so close to losing it like 4 times. Please use protection from now on, I know I will. CAUTION!! DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING PLANNED FOR AT LEAST 3-4 HOURS AFTER TAKING!!"

"The first time I took this for chlamydia was in 2014. A few hours after taking it I had terrible stomach cramps, had to run to the bathroom to vomit and use the toilet at the same time. Nothing was coming out so I just sat on the toilet trying to figure out what was going on. The next day I had hives that went away within a hour. I wasn’t informed on any side effects. The pills treated the infection. Fast forward to now. I took two 500mg pills a couple of days ago for a chlamydia reinfection and Immediately after taking it I had super intense stomach pain. I couldn’t even take the bus from the clinic that was only a few blocks from my house, where they administered the pills at. I had to call a uber. I did have the pills crushed up by my physician because I have problems with swallowing pills especially ones as large as these. And I took the pills on a empty stomach. I just hope that these pills treat me because the side effects are terrible."
