Azithromycin "I had pharyngitis and chlamydia, which was a double whammy. This is my second time taking these meds. The first time, not really any side effects, but this time, when I was on my last pill to take, I had terribly bad vomiting and diarrhea. Couldn't even keep water down. The next morning, I puked after drinking water, went to sleep, woke up, and felt better. Drank water again and am getting that pit feeling again. It did cure everything, though. This is to be continued..."

"Good thing I read the reviews after I took it because I would've been scared, lol. But definitely on the toilet right now, and my stomach was in a lot of pain. Thought it was barfing pain, but it wasn't. Your stomach will hurt after dosage."

"I tested positive for chlamydia and was prescribed two azithromycin 500 mg pills. The nausea was awful and I had really bad stomach cramps for about an hour, but nothing else after that. A week later, and I am still experiencing symptoms, so I am praying that this medicine worked!!!"

"I have severe anxiety from my emetophobia (fear of vomiting) and was super scared reading the reviews because I was scared to throw up :/ so I went crazy on the preventative care. I had ondansetron on standby and was popping Pepto like it was candy. I also took the medicine after eating a PB&J. I took all 4 pills and was shaking like crazy for a couple of hours after due to pure fear, but I was fine! I took it on the 31st of December, and I've just felt like gassy? But I wasn't farting or anything. I had one soft poop, and my sound has made noise, but for the most part, I just felt kinda heavy like I had a lot of gas in me, but I'm fine! I survived, lol. I'm praying it cured me. If it didn't (knock on wood, I really am not trying to jinx myself here), at least I know what to expect the next time!"

"I went to the doctor, and they made me take two 500 mg tablets of this medicine. I was okay at the doctor, but on my way home, I started to feel nausea and severe stomach aches. As soon as I came in, I started to cook some eggs and turkey bacon, but as soon as it was done cooking, I had to vomit and use the restroom. My stomach is hurting, and I feel so weak. Maybe it will change after I eat, but as far as right now, this is horrible. I took it on an empty stomach, so I see that's a no-go."

"I took 2 pills of 500 mg last Sunday. It’s now one week and three days later, and I still feel symptoms, mostly itching that’s driving me crazy. I hope this medicine works soon. Overall, side effects were not too bad, just a loose stool and a little bit of stomach cramps."

"So I found out Friday that I had chlamydia, I was prescribed two pills (500 mg each) of azithromycin. I didn't eat all day, so I took them, then had a slice of pizza. Totally bad idea. About 20 minutes later, I felt dizzy, lightheaded, and ended up puking everything. Today is now Monday, I had the prescription refilled, ate a meal first, then took the two pills. Felt fine for about two hours, then suddenly my stomach started hurting. I was so afraid I was going to end up pining, so I forced myself to eat bread. Two and a half hours later, I had to run to the bathroom, ended up having diarrhea but felt so much better after. My stomach doesn't hurt anymore! So gross, I know! Just make sure to take these while at home!"

"Took the 2 pink tablets, 500 mg each, as one dose, and everything was fine. I took a nap, and a few hours later, woke up sweating and really nauseous. I then began getting really bad cramping... Haven't gone to the bathroom yet, but I did yack because the nausea was that bad. I really hope the medicine is still effective even after puking a few hours after taking it. Definitely learned my lesson about unprotected sex!!"

"Annual Pap smear and STD test, found out I had chlamydia, got 1 pill of 1000 mg azithromycin both my partner and I took them - it worked. No vomiting or nausea, maybe just upset stomach. No diarrhea. Got re-tested 6 weeks later, although my doctor said it was not necessary, but I did it to ease my mind and it was negative."

"My advice is eat a big meal before taking it. That way when it cleans you out, you have plenty of stuff come out of you. I took it on a light lunch, and the whole day I had to sit on the toilet with pain and nothing coming out. It was horrible. Protected sex is best, ladies."

"I have chlamydia. My doctor prescribed me this medication (two 500 mg, to be accurate). I don't know why people are complaining of vomiting and diarrhea, I would consider myself a person with a weak stomach. I get nauseous easily over anything. This medication did not give me any side effects. I took the two pills at the same time, then ate some food (not a lot). A couple of hours later, I lost my appetite, but I felt fine besides that. Without insurance, the retail price for this is about $40."

"I felt cramps an hour into taking two azithromycin 500 mg pills to treat a chlamydia infection. The cramps were uncomfortable, but still only a 6-7 on the pain scale. I am used to period cramps, and it was slightly different, but the pain went away after an hour. I was nervous to take this pill, but everyone has a different body. I just hope it cures my chlamydia."

"If you are experiencing symptoms of diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, try taking Benadryl 30 minutes to 1 hour prior to taking the antibiotic. Benadryl may cause drowsiness, so do take it 1-2 hours before bedtime. I have tried this, and it gives you zero side effects."

"Taking this azithromycin medication is no joke. My advice is to make sure you eat something before taking it. I experienced loose stools and stomach aches, but it subsided with time into the morning. I’ll forever have more respect for using condoms. Good luck with taking the medication."

"I took 4-250 mg during 1 meal. My doctor said that this dose was enough for me to clear the infection. I am 5'3", 170 lbs. To avoid stomach pain, vomiting, or nausea, she suggested that I take 2 bites of my meal, take a pill... 2 more bites, take a pill, and so forth. It worked well!"

Azithromycin "So, I tested positive for chlamydia today. I went in for a 6-month checkup, and bam... positive. I am furious! First time ever having to deal with an STI. Anyway, I'm allergic to 'cillins', so I was prescribed two 500 mg tablets of Zithromax. Took them right at my doctor's around 3:30. My stomach started churning around 6:30, no nausea or vomiting. Come 8 pm, it was like a waterfall out my poop hole. Only one bout so far, but I'm sure there will be more. Had some slight stomach pain, but nothing unbearable. Waiting to find out how my partner's feeling, lol!!!"

"After going about a year with symptoms, I decided to get tested. I was diagnosed with chlamydia. I had a sense of relief knowing it was something easily treatable but worried because I read that if it's not treated, it can prevent fertility (I guess I will find out when I try and get pregnant. I am only 20, and kids are nowhere near my future.) I took two 500 mg tablets of azithromycin after eating (you can take it with or without food). I began having hot flashes and stomach pain within 30 minutes. It was nothing too serious. A few minutes later, the stomach pain got worse. I knew it was time to hit the restroom. I had diarrhea, it went down pretty easy. I feel a lot better now, just a bit dizzy. I recommend taking it in the comfort of your home."

"I had four 250 mg of azithromycin and felt fine straight after. I hadn't read the reviews and didn't know what was to happen next. BOOM two and a half hours later there was a waterfall coming out of my butt and felt like I was about to throw up! My temperature rapidly increased and I had terrible stomach pains! "I want to point out that I'm 20, 5'4" and 125 lbs, so effects will likely vary. I waited till bedtime to take the (2) 500 mg pills because of the listed side effects. Immediately after, I felt dizziness and a tad queasy. I slept way longer than usual, so I assume the medicine was doing its job. Typically, I'm up by 6:30-7, but I didn't get up till almost 10. I had diarrhea that morning. The sluggish, drowsy feeling lasted the entire day, along with a slight headache. I felt an awful pain in my abdomen on my way to class too, but that went away after about an hour. That's pretty much it, my partner took the same medicine that had been prescribed by his doctor and didn't experience any of this. I'm just super glad that it's treatable."

"This will be my third time in 9 months taking this to cure chlamydia. I've always followed the directions, abstained from any form of sex for a few weeks, and still have it. At this point, I don't know if I am getting false positives or not, as I tested orally too and did not have it. Only vaginally. Again, no symptoms of chlamydia really. The only thing that I've noticed right around the time to get retested is I get bad migraines and a sore throat. No odors, discharge, burning, itching, etc. Will be taking two 500 mg pills. Then I have an extra dosage I plan on taking a week later to get this shit out of my system for sure."

"My only side effect was some indigestion that I got from my food because of anxiety reading these reviews! Man... I will never read antibiotic reviews again. 1000 mg for chlamydia, 4 white pills, 250 mg each. My food was just two fried chicken pieces and some mashed potatoes from Popeyes. I felt some heat go through my body, and for about 30 minutes, I was bloated from anxiety lol. Burped a couple of times. Currently, 7 hours in and was unharmed. Side notes: 6 ft male, 180 lbs, Age: 30. I prayed for 1 week before taking because of the reviews. I mean, thank God I was unharmed and I don't doubt He assisted me. But I believe I was afraid for no reason. I hate medicine, and I'm a roughneck, but the reviews made me cringe like a Nancy pants. And for what? The fear only exists in the head! Don't be afraid of this! If you eat healthy foods and have only taken antibiotics like twice in your life, don't worry. Don't be filled with fear because of these reviews."

"I took two of the 500 mg pills. I felt fine and took them with food. Two hours later, I was extremely nauseous and dizzy and had diarrhea. I then felt fine, then another hour later, I got extreme chills and was shaking and had a fever. The experience with this medicine sucked, so I hope it's all cleared up, and I am always using condoms now :/"

"18, first gyno visit, and I tested positive for chlamydia, BV, and a yeast infection. How embarrassing. For chlamydia, doc prescribed 1 dose of a 1000 mg pill of azithro. I had zero side effects. I got retested 2 months later and results came back still positive even though I abstained from sex. Treatment must not have worked :( this time around I was prescribed two 500 mg azithro pills. Take these pills at night before bed. The side effects only lasted 2 hours max. If you feel nauseous, take deep breaths and lay on your left side. I have no advice for diarrhea lol I'm still running to the bathroom. Fingers crossed it works this time."

"I started getting symptoms late last night, so I went to the doctor's this morning, and I was given a shot of Rocephin and two tablets of azithromycin. Once I took the tablet, I was actually feeling a little bit fine, only had a small stomach ache, and then some diarrhea, but that passed quickly. But four hours later, an hour after I had eaten a meal, I just started to experience the worst abdominal pain and diarrhea imaginable! It literally felt as if my insides were being turned inside out! It was the absolutely worst, but I am better now, the infection seems to be gone, and I am never having unprotected sex again until I get married!"
