For Bacterial Infection "I've been prescribed amoxicillin many times for many different infections. Most recently, for strep throat. I'm on day 2 of my 10-day treatment, and I've never had a problem with side effects other than a little drowsiness. Works like a charm any time I have strep, an ear infection, or UTI. Just wish I could still get it in liquid form as an adult!"

For Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis "I was prescribed Amoxil after a nasty bacterial infection in my tonsils. I had tried the Z-Pak in the past, but it gave me bad side effects, so we switched to the amoxicillin. It started working within 24 hours for me. I had experienced slight diarrhea in the past with this antibiotic, but my doctor gave me Align Probiotic Supplements to replace the good bacteria that antibiotics tend to destroy along with the bad bacteria, which is what causes the gut problems. Worked amazing! No diarrhea! The amoxicillin does make me feel a bit sleepy. I napped a lot the first few days. Also, the 10-day dosage is a lot to remember, but hey, it worked great, and I am much better now."

For Bacterial Infection "My oral surgeon prescribed amoxicillin 500 mg three times daily for 7 days for an infected wisdom tooth prior to the surgical extraction of four impacted wisdom teeth. After two days on the antibiotic, symptoms associated with the infected tooth began to subside (i.e., decreased inflammation, pain relief). Prior to that, I couldn't sleep without Orajel, 800 mg of ibuprofen, and 50 mg of diphenhydramine. I experienced minor digestive side effects (e.g., minor abdominal pain and 2-3 episodes of loose stool) after a few days on the medication; however, the medication was well tolerated overall, and the relief was much appreciated."

For Middle Ear Infections "I had an ear infection and fever twice in Dec. I took amoxicillin two times as antibiotics. I think my ear infection did not clear up. I started to have lots of imbalance pressure in my ears. I felt fluid in my middle ears for more than two weeks, which is very annoying. I have been taking amoxicillin for the fourth day. I still feel the fluid inside my middle ears. My hearing is back, no more pain, but I sometimes feel itchy inside my ears. I am so worried, how can I get rid of the fluid... help!"

Amoxicillin for Bacterial Infection "Had my wisdom tooth pulled, and I'm hard-headed and hate all medications, and ended up with a sinus infection, and it was painful. Finally took my prescribed medication of Amoxil, and I felt it working 17 hours later. First time I finished all of my medication."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I have been taking Amoxicillin 875 twice a day for 6 days for a UTI. Still have the frequency with urinating. Feel bad. Always tired, and it doesn’t seem to help. Cannot sleep at night, the medicine is not working. Been drinking lots of water and cranberry juice and don’t feel any better. Also have chills at times. Think I’m stopping this medicine because it’s not helping at all."

For Chlamydia Infection "I had read online that the US CDC recommends this as an alternative antibiotic for Chlamydia infection. Two 500 mg every 8 hours or 3 times a day for 7 days. Yes, you will probably get some diarrhea like I did, but if you don't treat it, the alternative is damage to the reproductive system and women becoming infertile. So when you forgot to use protection and your partner gives you a gift, you need to take your medicine."

For Bacterial Infection "I just wanted to point out that it's important to take as prescribed by the doctor. The common cold is caused by a virus, so that is why your doctor doesn't want to give you antibiotics unless it progresses into a bacterial infection. You don't want to take antibiotics unless you have to. And you don't want to take them continually for more than 7-10 days or for too short of a time. Bacteria become immune to antibiotics and can become stronger, where your body can't fight them in the future. They are needed in bacterial infections quite often, but don't just take any antibiotics for the hell of it or without a lot of research, as they aren't good for you overall."

For Dental Abscess "Been on this medication for 3 and a half days with absolutely no relief, only pain continuing into the ear and below cheekbone to neck with a little lymph node and yeast. I'm tempted to quit, but I'm trying to see if I'll get any positive result."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I was on a 5-day treatment for a urinary tract infection and was taking it 3 times a day, 500 mg. It did not treat it completely. It stopped the urge to pee every five mins and stopped the lower belly pain, but I still had the pain at the end after I would pee, and I still had bad back pain, so back to the doc I go."

For Dental Abscess "Dentist prescribed amoxicillin on the same day of tooth extractions. On my 5th day of 500 mg x four times a day = 2000 mg in a 24 hr period. I have no idea if it's working or not, but after reading the reviews of no results, I recommend that if you have not seen any positive results OR you experience negative results, that you should question the quality control of the manufacturer, because if the manufacturer cuts corners in the production line, then you are more likely to experience negative results from the result of poor quality than you are from the drug. Amoxicillin works IF it's manufactured properly. Stay away from the generic form manufactured by Aurobindo Pharm. It will be marked with A45 pink & blue capsule."

Amoxicillin for Pneumonia "I have bacterial pneumonia with 2 spots on my lungs after the flu. Not much nasal involvement. Bad headache, body ache, fever, and chills. Deep dry cough. Started Levaquin by IV at the ER, but within an hour I got hives on my mouth and neck and felt slightly itchy all over, then 3 bouts of projectile vomiting. Then tried Clindamycin but developed hives after 2 days. Both meds helped me feel better, and my headache and fever went away. Now on Amoxicillin-Clav 875, twice a day. Symptoms are very slowly improving. Only a bit of loose stool. Probiotics and a bland diet help."

For Dental Abscess "I was prescribed Amoxil for a severe tooth infection. 1000 mg one in the morning and one in the evening. My jaw, cheek, and gum were still swollen in the first 3 days, as well as it was really painful. Then on the 4th day, the swelling had subsided, but the gum was still swollen. My dentist did a root canal on the 5th day with a swollen gum, then I continued taking this med for another 4 days. It got rid of the tooth infection completely, but it is very slow. If you have a tooth infection, this med usually works slowly on it, and you have to hit high doses to help fight the infection. And yes, it left a very bad yeast infection at the end, which grew to be a 'candida overgrowth symptom'-too much yeast in your gut, and I am still trying to get rid of it with antifungals, a low sugar and carb diet, and probiotics. I don't know why I got that yeast since I ate tons of probiotic yogurts while on prescription and immediately started probiotics after the treatment and still continue to take."

For Bacterial Infection "This antibiotic has basically destroyed my well-being. After a week of taking it, I was pulled out of sleep with the most terrifying panic attack. I had never had a panic attack ever, and unfortunately, it worsened to the point where I am pulled out of sleep 6 or seven times per night, every single night, and there is an overwhelming anxiety that persists all day, every day. The anxiety/panic does NOT result from a thought or a fear. Instead, it is a full body, nameless, reasonless terror... a rush of hot white heat, heat racing, face flushed, and abject terror. I have no history of any depression, anxiety, or mental illness, and prior to this drug, I was healthy. I have been this way since using amoxicillin, and have remained so for four terrifying years. I've been to every doctor and specialist imaginable, trying to find a cause and help. I see that there are dozens and dozens of other patients who have left a similar review."

For Dental Abscess "Got put on amoxicillin liquid suspension for 5 days to clear up a dental abscess. Whole right side of face is swollen. After 5 days, the swelling is the same, no results at all. Lost 3 days' money so far because I'm missing work due to the pain. Have booked another dentist appointment for the morning to hopefully get put on some stronger antibiotics or get something done to this horrible abscess. Never felt so run down in my life. I have a toddler, and I would gladly choose the pain over having more children than having this dental pain."

For Bacterial Infection "Age 65. I was prescribed and took Amoxicillin 875 twice a day for ten days for a tooth infection. I have not had antibiotics for decades, and it worked wonders, not only curing my tooth infection but also a persistent ear infection, which had been bothering me on and off for quite a while. Gone! (;>) I also took an HSO probiotic and a glass of kefir daily during the course, and my stomach/GI/BM are feeling and functioning great, normally. Two thumbs up!"

For Dental Abscess "My teeth have cracked roots, which is a very painful condition. The tooth literally starts to 'die,' and wow, is it painful. And can make you very sick. Months before you even know you have a cracked root tooth! I had to have two teeth pulled due to this problem. The roots broke off in the 'pulls,' so oral surgery was necessary. I have been on amoxicillin for 2 weeks now. Because I was taking only 2 pills at 500 mg a day, it wasn't working. It wasn't until I doubled the dosage that the antibiotic started to work. It's hard on your stomach, but it does work."

For Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis "I have had tonsillitis twice this year, used this drug amoxicillin. My course was 10 days, 1.5 gm per day. Took 4 days to be back to normal, but my doctor said I have to complete my course anyway, even if the symptoms were gone. Great drug."

For Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis "I was prescribed amoxicillin 1000 mg tablets to be taken twice daily after meals for acute pharyngitis in my throat. The infection started out on my tonsils, and I was initially prescribed a Betadine spray. Used the spray every four hours for two weeks with no real effect. Went back to the ENT and was told the infection had moved further down my throat. I’m on my fifth day of a ten-day dose of amoxicillin, and it’s feeling better finally. I should also mention that I had 35 radiation doses and two chemo infusions a few months ago for base of tongue cancer. The cancer is in remission, but my throat is still damaged but slowly healing from the radiation. The ENT doc mentioned that I was more susceptible to infections due to the radiation treatment. I get my throat scoped by an ENT doc every 30 days to monitor healing and make sure the cancer isn’t returning."

For Bacterial Infection "I started taking Amoxicillin for an inner ear infection. It knocked the pain and tenderness out pretty quickly, but after just a couple of days of taking it, I started having trouble breathing. No matter how many times I yawn or try to take a deep breath, it doesn't work. It's like I can't get enough oxygen. It's been frustrating feeling like I can't catch my breath and has made it difficult to get to sleep. But at least my ear infection is better!"

For Dental Abscess "Took this for a tooth abscess. Toothache went away but was replaced by other pains. Feels like every muscle in my body is sore, especially the legs and lower back. Throwing up and also have diarrhea. Massive headache. The body ache is so bad I laid in bed crying, and I have a pretty high threshold for pain usually. I cannot seem to get out of bed and cannot find a comfortable position for my legs and back. Also just started having a fever of 99.4 degrees. I took this about 7 to 8 hours ago, not sure if I'd rather have the toothache or these side effects, that's how bad this is. I've taken amoxicillin in the past and did not have any of these problems, not sure what changed (or maybe this is my body's reaction to the abscess?)."

For Sinusitis "I take amoxicillin every time I have a sinus infection. It clears it up unbelievably fast. I usually start feeling a little better within a couple of hours. I also never get a vaginal yeast infection that a lot of antibiotics can cause. No other weird side effects for me, other than it might change your bowel pattern a little. No diarrhea though."
