For Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis "I've been sick for a week. It started out with headache, throat pain, chills, and overall just feeling exhausted. I had a rapid strep and culture, both appearing negative. This is 7 days later, no change in symptoms, and this morning I woke up with little pus pockets in my throat. I've been taking Alka-Seltzer for 7 days, and the instructions state to see an MD if taken longer than 1 week, so I went to urgent care and was prescribed amoxicillin. I took 2 amoxicillin four hours ago and already feel 90% better! I haven't taken antibiotics for many years. I am grateful to be feeling better so quickly!"

For Middle Ear Infections "This medication works amazingly for ear infections. I have had more ear infections than I can count in my life, both as a child and an adult. I have had ruptured eardrums, double ear infections, tubes, and surgery to repair my eardrums. This medication has always relieved symptoms. For mild to moderate infections, it starts relieving pain in 12-48 hours (but finish the whole prescription or it will return), and for severe or ruptured eardrums, it can take up to 5 days, but hey, it does the trick. Just take ibuprofen around the clock too, as it will speed up the process due to anti-inflammatory properties. I get nausea with this medicine, but only when I haven't eaten or am very overtired, and I always get a yeast infection. The doctor can prescribe medicine in advance for this."

For Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis "Normally the drug of choice for tonsillitis. I have had chronic tonsillitis for a few years, and each time only this antibiotic can help. The symptom relief comes relatively slowly (after 2-3 days) compared to just 1 day after taking macrolide antibiotics (Clarithromycin, Spiramycin, Azithromycin, etc.). But in my case, treatment with amoxicillin prolongs the time to the next outbreak significantly."

For Bacterial Infection "Had been having severe pains on both sides of my neck and went in to see my primary physician. He felt my neck glands and they were swollen and the pain was severe. Also ran a low-grade temp. Prescribed amoxicillin 500 mg twice a day for 10 days. The pain has subsided and so has the fever. No side effects, except a little fuzzy-headed and lethargic. Have two more days to complete the therapy, even though I feel so much better. Would tell anyone with a fever and infection to go along with amoxicillin."

For Middle Ear Infections "I was diagnosed with otitis media. It’s been 9 days. On the first day, I lost hearing in my left ear. On the second day, I started experiencing pain and went to the ER. The pain was getting severe, and now I had discomfort in my right ear. It was so severe, it radiated to my jaw and my neck. The doctor prescribed me 7 days of amoxicillin (3 times a day) and to take ibuprofen. It took 3 days for the severe pain to subside. It still feels like my ears are full, and I’m extremely irritable. I went to the doctor yesterday (day 8) as there has not been much improvement since the pain subsided and I was almost done with my prescription. She prescribed me an extra 4 days of amoxicillin and to take Sudafed. The Sudafed helped relieve some of the pressure in my ears. The infection is very much still there. In my 9 days, I had pain, nausea, difficulty eating, loss of appetite, and off and on my throat feels sore. I am so over this! The amoxicillin worked a bit, but I am nowhere near feeling 100%."

For Dental Abscess "Ah, 2nd day on 500 mg of amoxicillin 3 times a day. HURRY UP AND START WORKING. In severe pain from 2 infected teeth, tried everything else for the pain. The only thing that gives me 5 min of relief is Sensodyne Rapid Relief toothpaste, used 2 bottles in 5 days."

For Middle Ear Infections "Have had a blocked ear for 5 days now. Went to the doctor last night as the pain was unbearable. I have absolute no hearing in my left ear and was really concerned. I have been prescribed amoxicillin 500 mg and just have taken two doses. It had eased the pain, but there is still a dull pain remaining. Still no sign of my hearing coming back, hopefully, it does soon, driving me mad! Upset stomach from this antibiotic, which is one side effect."

For Bacterial Infection "Infected upper wisdom tooth, causing pain in lower jaw, neck, ear, and head. 500 mg 3x daily. Works great but not immediately. Usually a couple of days and your infection will subside. The side effects are watery bowel. Probiotics such as yogurt, etc., did not help my side effects from amoxicillin."

For Bronchitis "Amoxicillin used to be my go-to medicine for bronchitis or ear or throat infections, but it doesn’t work for me anymore. I was diagnosed with strep and bronchitis and prescribed Amoxicillin 500 mg, three times a day. I do believe it knocked out the strep but did not touch the bronchitis. Five weeks into coughing, I got sick again and now am taking Cephalexin, which is killing the bronchitis. So no more Amoxicillin for me."

For Bacterial Infection "I used this for getting rid of an abscess on my gums caused from a broken tooth. The issue seems to be a thing of the past. I am healed. The only thing is that it gave me a yeast infection. Other than that, took it as directed and am good as new."

For Dental Abscess "Honestly, this medicine isn't working at all. My dentist gave it to me last Thursday, and I am still in a lot of pain today, even more actually. Not only is my tooth still hurting, but my jaw, left ear, and left side of my head hurt as well. I am in a lot of pain."

For Dental Abscess "It was a very helpful medication to relieve my symptoms of my dental abscess. However, I'm experiencing some swelling of my upper lip, which I'm brushing aside given that the abscess is right under there. No other side effects were noticed. The abscess seems to be going away a bit, still swollen but only on my 3rd dose out of 15. It's working nicely, and yet again, very useful medicine."

For Dental Abscess "Have an infection in the gum/bone and had 2 root canals done. Worst pain ever! I had 3 kids and would gladly have another to trade that pain. Can't eat, can't sleep. Just pain! Dentist prescribed Amoxicillin 500 mg 3x a day. Didn't have side effects until the dentist switched me to Clindamycin 150 mg x 2, 4 times a day. OMG! That antibiotic is horrible! Along with having terrible reviews, it tore up my stomach. After being in the bathroom several times, my stomach literally hurt for 10 hours straight. I called my dentist, and he put me back on the Amoxicillin. Thank God! Just not as strong and will take longer to heal, I’m guessing, but I definitely don't want that stomach pain either."

For Bacterial Infection "I had an abscess on my gum, the pain was bad. I took this, and within hours needed no painkillers - gave me a slight headache but nothing bad, just a slight cloudy feeling. But it's still a lot better than someone hitting you with a baseball bat. That's how my face felt without this antibiotic. Top stuff."

For Bacterial Infection "Been given as I have an infection in my wisdom tooth, for which I've got a specialist consultation in 2 weeks' time. So far, had 6 of these tablets (one 3x a day, so I'm about to go onto day 3). No pain relief and no sleep. Not slept right in over a week now, but the pain is becoming unbearable. I take morphine, paracetamol, and naproxen for health conditions, and none of these have worked with my body. My dentist didn't give me anything apart from the antibiotics and just told me within 2 days, I'll be much more painless as the paracetamol should work with the antibiotics. It's 2:28 am on the 3rd day, several hours before my 7th pill, and I'm in so much pain and so tired but cannot sleep. Seem not to work for me, feels like it's getting worse. Will update."

For Dental Abscess "I had a root canal abscess for quite some time. After much thought, I decided to go with the dentist's suggestion to take the tooth out. It's been fantastic, even the bone graft seemed to heal very well. A few days ago, six months after extraction, I woke up with pulsing pain in the area of the bone graft. I had some cephalexin antibiotics left over from another dentist's prescription for the abscess from the year before, so even though I hate taking them, I started on these antibiotics. I saw my dentist a day later, as soon as he could see me, and he suggested I swap to amoxicillin. The cephalexin had not really done much. Now, this morning after only two tablets, I am much better. I think it will clear up quickly."

For Dental Abscess "I just started taking this medication 4 days ago to prevent infection from wisdom tooth extraction surgery. It has been making me extremely tired, and I never had this problem. Today, I slept for a total of 17 hours, and the first day a total of 14 hours. I have never felt so tired in my life. I have no energy and have had a migraine all day."

For Bacterial Infection "I was given amoxicillin 500 mg 3x daily for 7 days due to an infection. On first taking it, nothing really happened. By the second, I started getting flu-like symptoms. Third - major fatigue. Fourth - irritability. Fifth - diarrhea. Finally, on the sixth/seventh, that's when I noticed it had gotten rid of those nasty bacteria and was my normal self again. As a plus, it cleared up my skin. Glad I was able to see it through, despite the side effects."

For Middle Ear Infections "After 2 rounds of antibiotic ear drops and pain and pus returning a week later, I was prescribed amoxicillin 500 mg 3 times daily for 5 days. I had no side effects, a lot of discharge from my ear, and constant pain subsided after day 3. After completing the course, I have mild pain occurring, my ear feels full, and hearing hasn't returned, and now the right ear is the same way, so back to the doctors for me."

For Bacterial Infection "I have been having pain in my back molar off and on for about a week and a half. Right above my crown in my back left top molar. Mostly in the gums. Because of the 2020 pandemic lockdown, I was trying to wait it out. While talking to my hygienist friend, she became very concerned and advised me that I could have an abscessed tooth, which is a pocket of pus that can form in different parts of a tooth as a result of a bacterial infection. That it sounded like it was in the root of the tooth and the pus was pushing out, forming a bump in the gums. The dentist confirmed this. After only one day of the bump showing on my gums and one day of usage of the prescription amoxicillin, the bump already reduced to non-visible. And the pain has also reduced. I was also warned that if the pain returned, which it may, that we may have to remove the small molar. I am hopeful that this will work as I am already seeing great results and already focusing on rebuilding my immune system following this dose of antibiotics."

For Dental Abscess "I went in for some pain after an injury to my front tooth. The first dentist told me, I'm young enough it can heal, it might get better. I'm 26. A week later, the pain was unbearable. They gave me Norco and a root canal at an endodontist. The surgery went excellently. For 2 days, everything was awesome. Then I got an infection with a nasty taste. I called them the 1st day they were open, was prescribed amoxicillin. It helped, and I started to get better from it. The amoxicillin side effects ranged from an increased sense of smell, yeast infection, and bloody diarrhea. I took my entire XR and was better. After 2 days off, I had an infection again. The pain seemed to be higher above the tooth this time. I contacted my dentist, who is sending me back for a 3D X-ray to inspect the area for a possible fracture or to find another reason it's not healing. Due to COVID shutdown, I have to wait 4 days until I'm seen again. Until then, I'm treating my infection with old leftover amoxicillin."

For Dental Abscess "Amoxicillin was helpful! I had a toothache that lasted for 3 days. My dentist prescribed this drug, and after 2 days of taking it, all the pain was gone! I didn’t follow the right instructions, though there were times I was several hours late in taking it at the prescribed time because I am forgetful or I was sleeping (It was supposed to be taken exactly every 8 hours). I also didn’t even get to finish the whole medicine course just because I didn’t feel pain anymore (which is not good, don't do that too), but this antibiotic is just that good! I just experienced diarrhea. I usually poop once a day or every other day, but this antibiotic made me poop twice a day."

Amoxicillin for Upper Respiratory Tract Infection "I am a patient with a cold and cough. Whenever I am exposed to cold for more time without proper covering my body, I get cold and coughing. I immediately start bronchitis effect. I start coughing. I feel very nervous and feel very sick. No mood for doing any activity. Feel tired and body ache. This situation remains for a very long time if I don't take medicine, and ultimately it goes away quickly if I start antibiotics. Amoxicillin is the most effective drug for my bronchitis. It starts effect from the very first pill. I feel very comfortable after the prescribed dose is finished. I take MOXIKIND-CV 625 in India. It does not have any side effects for me. I wonder why Indian doctors treat me with the drug that contains Cefixime whenever I suffer from bronchitis. It is never effective at all and ultimately I need to take Amoxicillin, and immediately I get relief from my painful bronchitis. Thanks to Amoxicillin."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I thought amoxicillin was pretty mild. I asked for it when my urologist prescribed a Cipro-family antibiotic (I think those are really dangerous!)... wrong. I took the amoxicillin 500 mg 2X/day for 8 days and had to stop. It seemed to stop my UTI (first one ever and I have been on catheters for 2 years), but I didn't expect the side effects of rapid heart rate all the time, anxiety from low grade to intense most of the time, it made me feel weak and nauseous, guts in turmoil, eating anything made it worse, so I had to stop. I had no idea this drug had those side effects for many! Avoid!"

For Dental Abscess "Amoxicillin has been a lifesaver for tooth infections for me personally. Though it needs to be paired with some type of pain reliever to mitigate the pain since you cannot drink alcohol (which, besides pain meds, is the only thing that lessens a toothache), and for a toothache, Advil doesn't cut it, you need Vicodin, Norco, or Percocet. Sadly, so many drug addicts have made being prescribed any of the above-listed pain meds a rare occurrence."
