For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Can echo pretty much every review here. I feel horrible on this H. pylori combo of amoxicillin/clarithromycin/lansoprazole. My side effect symptoms are my mouth tastes just awful, headache, upset stomach, nausea, waking at all hours to extinguish the rancid taste in my mouth. Within 2 hours of my first dose, the taste was like something had crawled into my stomach a few years ago and stayed there. Felt better at day 4, but day 5 I feel absolutely horrible again. It was comforting to read my experience is normal at least. If you need this treatment absolutely take a probiotic with it! Taking probiotics lessens side effects like diarrhea, gas, and yeast infections. I see a few people who didn't have many side effects saying the awful reviews are exaggerated. They most certainly are NOT. Everyone is different. Please don't minimize the experience of others just because you got lucky and didn't have it as bad. I'd say my side effects are moderate or even sometimes mild compared to the worst they could be, but people are absolutely not exaggerating!"

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I have been recently diagnosed with H. pylori. I am on my 4th day of medication and feeling so many side effects: nausea, tiredness, chest pain, body pain, and I feel like I’m actually sick. My bloated tummy has come down significantly, however, I can’t sleep at night. I feel dizzy when I’m laying in bed or, worse, when I’m out of the house. I’m hoping and praying to go the whole 14 days, but I really don’t know what to do. If anyone else has these side effects, please help. Thanks."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I am on day 4, feel constantly tired. Have to sleep sitting as some weird acid runs into my mouth and tastes horrible. Stomach still bloated and eating makes me sick but not eating also makes me sick. Headaches on and off. Chest pains. Constant metallic taste and loss of taste buds. Had one really crazy bout of the runs. Overall I feel worse in a different way than before I started antibiotics."

Amoxicillin / clarithromycin / lansoprazole for Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Have completed the 14-day Prevpac treatment. I started the first day expecting horrible side effects. That didn't happen. I had a few nausea moments that lasted only seconds. My bowel movements were totally normal. I will say I became very fatigued, but I slept well and generally felt very good during the entire 14 days. I did have a bit of depression, but I assumed it was caused by the treatment, so I just ignored that. It was 8 pills a day, plus a probiotic. That's 126 pills in two weeks! As you can see, it didn't affect my mathematical skills! Today is the 2nd day pill free and done with Prevpac. I don't remember feeling this good in a long while. The treatment appears to have worked extremely well. So, do I recommend Prevpac - that is a resounding YES. And the best of luck to you all."

Amoxicillin / clarithromycin / lansoprazole for Helicobacter Pylori Infection "PEOPLE, PLEASE DON'T COME HERE TO GET FEAR INSTILLED IN YOU ABOUT THIS MEDICINE. Other people's experiences may NOT EVER happen to you. I didn't take it for a whole year because of these kinds of websites. Let's put this out there: I DO NOT LIVE A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE. I eat fried food, I eat out a lot (hence, why I think I got the bacteria). I barely work out, and I'm considered overweight. (NOT BRAGGING, JUST BEING TRUTHFUL) And the medicine still worked for me. If you're dealing with horrific side effects, 9/10 you were probably dealing with those things one way or another without medication. For the nausea, eat 1/2 a toast before taking it. For the insomnia, don't take it right before you go to bed, 2-3 hours in advance. The metallic taste goes away after you eat."

Amoxicillin / clarithromycin / lansoprazole for Helicobacter Pylori Infection "When I had an upper GI endoscopy, I was diagnosed with H. pylori. He gave me one PPI that is esomeprazole 40 mg, amoxicillin 500 mg, and clarithromycin 500 mg for 14 days. I took it for 12 days. I can't take more than that because of the side effects. It has been a week since I stopped it, but I still haven't recovered. My symptoms are the same as before: indigestion, nausea, throat burning problems, acid reflux, etc. I don't know when I will be free from this disease. Can anyone help me? I'm helpless and worried too much about this problem."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I've just finished the 14 days of triple antibiotic treatment for H. Pylori, detected by gastroscopy. My epigastric pain is almost gone, and apart from the exhaustion, I feel normal again. I wanted to write this to help others because on day 4 of this treatment, I felt so horrendous (constant nausea, belching, headaches, dizziness, foggy brain, couldn't eat, acid reflux). I needed to hear what others have been through. Days 4-7 were the worst for me, the bacteria 'die off' produces a type of alcohol in your body that makes you feel drunk from the inside. The nausea persisted for the full 14 days, but my head cleared after the 7th day. I found drinking bone broth the best to keep down and to help rebuild the gut. I'm slowly now weaning off the PPI and will increase probiotics and fermented foods. I'm going to try the GAPS diet to rebuild my gut lining and microbiome. As hard-going as it is, don't give up, it's worth persisting with."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Today is day #13 of the treatment. If I had three words to describe the treatment, it would be nasty, bitter, garbage. Things that I suffered in the last 13 days: - Nausea - Headaches - Bloating (especially the first 6-7 days) - Belly pains - Insomnia - Everyone's favorite: Awful metallic taste in the mouth - Heart racing and BP up/down. After the treatment is done, I am planning on being on Nexium (20 mg) for the next two weeks and then will stop and go for a retest. Am I feeling better after the treatment is almost finished? I have no clue. With the awful side effects of the treatment, I have no idea what's happening. I hope I will start feeling a change soon. BUT to all who are suffering, hang in there, guys. This is not the best thing, but we have no choice. PS. I am planning on going to the shooting range after the treatment so I could do some target practice on the empty treatment bottles. :D"

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "So after all the body tests, including blood tests, ultrasound, etc., the doctor found nothing, so they wanted to do an endoscopy, and I didn't want them to, but I am glad that I let them. H. Pylori was positive when I got the endoscopy reports. The doctor prescribed Pantocid HP Kit for 14 days. To be honest, the 1st day was so brutal, I could not eat anything, felt nauseous the whole day, and felt abdominal pain. I thought I wouldn't be able to complete the course and leave it in the middle, but now today is the last day of the course, and I would just like to say, you will feel gassy, nauseous, weak, and sometimes face issues while trying to sleep, but don't give up, avoid stress, avoid oily and spicy food, drink coconut water, and eat light but healthy food. I assure you that the result would be worth the problems that you will face during the course."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Diagnosed with H. pylori and am put on medication, 2 antibiotics and 2 nausea acid reflux medicines. Day 1 of taking the medicine, I felt so nauseous and weak. Day 2 was headaches, feeling not myself. Then it started going downhill with side effects, the metallic taste in my mouth, nausea all the time, literally from day 1 have been feeling nauseous. The headaches slowed down by the 10th day. On Day 5, I felt like I couldn't do it anymore, I was crying because I was feeling miserable. I tried to negotiate if I could stop my medicine, but my H. pylori pain motivated me to keep pushing through. I had a constant unpleasant taste in my mouth and acid reflux, weakness, could not keep much in my stomach, and I did not dare lay on my stomach or I would throw up. Also, I noticed my stomach bloating and sometimes it spasmed, if that makes sense. Anyway, I'm on day 13, and I can't wait to be done with my medications. I thought I was the only one going through it, but I feel okay knowing my symptoms were not crazy."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I wanted to share my experiences on taking this medication for H. pylori bacteria. The first two days of taking this medication, the side effect was very strong. I threw up, nausea, dizzy, stomach upset, and felt very tired. I felt a little bit better after day 4, but the symptoms came back again. Can't eat much and still have a strong acid reflux. I am on day 12 of the treatment and read through this article and saw that I am not the only person. Super confused, is this just the side effect of the medication or did my symptoms get worse? Overall, I feel more sick than normal after treatment started."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I am on day 10 of medication, and I can identify my symptoms to most of you, but I can say that they were worse in the first 6-8 days. Metallic taste in my mouth, nausea, diarrhea (almost black stool), bloating, and lots of burping and reflux. It's interesting how doctors noticed I had H. pylori. I started with a weird shortness of breath (which is still there), but I have done so many tests, and they all came back normal: ECG, stress test, chest X-ray, heart and lungs ultrasound, abdominal ultrasound, barium meal (upper GI series), and several blood tests. They were all normal. The only problem found was H. pylori. I hope I can finish the treatment and start feeling better ASAP."

Amoxicillin / clarithromycin / lansoprazole for Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I'm currently on day 11 of Prevpac. I was very nervous about taking it after reading horror stories online. The first day I was very nauseous after taking it in the morning. That afternoon I purchased some probiotics, and they have been a huge help! My only side effect is a bad taste in my mouth, but chewing gum helps with that! I feel great now, but I'm excited to be done with the meds in three days. I've been having stomach issues for three years with no definite answer until finally a doctor tested me for H. Pylori, and it came back positive. Prevpac really isn't that bad. I highly recommend taking probiotics, though!"

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Well, let me begin by saying I never experienced heartburn or had symptoms prior to the endoscopy that found the H. Pylori, so to be perfectly honest, the treatment has been a bit brutal. The metallic taste in my mouth is so bad if I actually do sleep, it wakes me and I am extremely nauseated. Diarrhea also. Fatigue, a definite. A lot of burping now, and now I seem to be actually experiencing heartburn. The one positive I will say is I noticed the bloating I have had for several years, which honestly I thought was my stomach, is going down significantly. Also, yogurt is your friend, I find it helps with the metallic taste. I have a few more days to go, so I hope it’s worth it! Hang in there, there’s light at the end of the tunnel."

Amoxicillin / clarithromycin / lansoprazole for Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Not too bad, this is my second time taking the medication. The first time I was given lansoprazole, amoxicillin, and metronidazole, which I had major side effects from, and after reading horror story reviews, I stopped at day 5 of 7. Later found out it was the metronidazole that caused my horrible side effects. Now I'm on the course again, but instead of metronidazole, I was prescribed clarithromycin, which is so much better! Apart from the occasional nausea and metallic/bitter taste, I've had no other side effects, and it's helped increase my appetite. I'm on day 4 of 7 now and have high hopes for this drug. Will update after I finish the treatment."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "So I started the antibiotic H. pylori combo of amoxicillin, clarithromycin, and lansoprazole meds on Monday, and it's a 14-day course. I had this medication prescribed in the past, but I was feeling so sick I couldn't do more than 10 days. Unfortunately, the H. pylori came back, that's why I'm taking it again. I feel horrible: headaches, nausea, no energy. I just hope I can finish the course. Any tips on how to minimize the side effects?"

Amoxicillin / clarithromycin / lansoprazole for Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I've had the H. pylori infection for at least a few years, but this year it got to a point where I couldn't handle it. I had severe gastritis and couldn't eat anymore. Some days the food I ate over the course of a day wouldn't even add up to one meal. The treatment was not pleasant, but tolerable. It's a lot of pills to take in one day, and I felt exhausted some of the days. A few weeks after I finished the treatment, I noticed that I no longer have immediate pain and nausea when I try to eat. Now (4 months later), I can almost eat a full meal and feel okay. It took a while to recover, but it was very much worth it."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I tested positive for H. pylori and presented with blood in stool samples, upper left quadrant pain. Never had symptoms of heartburn or reflux prior to being diagnosed. I was on a 7-day treatment, and I received 96% of the side effects: migraine that wouldn't go away throughout the whole course, dizziness, muscle aches and bone/joint pain, heart palpitations, burning pains throughout my abdomen, nausea, diarrhea, itchy skin, bubbly itchy rash in one small patch, pins and needles in my right hand, horrid chemically metallic taste in my mouth, loss of appetite, brain fog, confusion, weight loss, fever, chills, and sweats. It's almost been a week since finishing the treatment. My body still hurts, especially my legs, it feels as though there's no blood flow to them. Blood in the stool and the ulcer is still causing pain. Can't go through that treatment again."

Amoxicillin / clarithromycin / lansoprazole for Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I was very hesitant to take the meds due to the horror stories, and I'm glad I actually went through with it! Everyone reacts differently to the meds, and it's not as bad as I read it would be! I'm currently on Day 10 of 14 (almost there... Kudos to me!) The first couple of days I felt nothing. By Day 4, I noticed the dark stool, and I'm still having dark stools. By Day 8, I'm a bit nauseous at times and would feel better after eating. So far, yesterday, which was Day 9 for me, I felt the worst of it. I was nauseous all day, light headache, frequently having BMs, and exhausted. Today, Day 10, a little nauseous earlier around breakfast and a little bit now, but better after eating! Also, my sense of smell seems to have heightened, which also makes me nauseous. But overall, it's definitely not as bad as I read or as bad as the doctor told me it would be. But honestly, I can't wait to finish!"

My depression is amplified, and do not get me started on the bitter taste in my mouth. I am dying here and have 6 more days to go. I am missing work and have been in bed almost all day, except when eating. Other than that, I just don't want to move. Hope this treatment works because I cannot take any more of this."

Amoxicillin / clarithromycin / lansoprazole for Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I took the Prevpac many years ago after suffering with sharp abdominal pain, cramping, nausea, severe heartburn, and probably other symptoms I can't remember. I had no issues with the medication whatsoever. I encourage those of you who are reading negative comments to put your health first, as allowing this infection to persist can lead to conditions much worse than simply having a bacteria in your stomach. If you should get any symptoms with the medications, rest assured you are probably already having them now! You will feel back to normal again after a few days. I have read some comments where some have stated they have other issues with their backs, neck, etc. From a medical and professional standpoint, these symptoms are not related. I recommend you eat some yogurt with the treatment throughout the course to help with symptoms if you are more sensitive to medications."
