For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I have been recently diagnosed with H. pylori. I am on my 4th day of medication and feeling so many side effects: nausea, tiredness, chest pain, body pain, and I feel like I’m actually sick. My bloated tummy has come down significantly, however, I can’t sleep at night. I feel dizzy when I’m laying in bed or, worse, when I’m out of the house. I’m hoping and praying to go the whole 14 days, but I really don’t know what to do. If anyone else has these side effects, please help. Thanks."

Amoxicillin / clarithromycin / lansoprazole for Helicobacter Pylori Infection "PEOPLE, PLEASE DON'T COME HERE TO GET FEAR INSTILLED IN YOU ABOUT THIS MEDICINE. Other people's experiences may NOT EVER happen to you. I didn't take it for a whole year because of these kinds of websites. Let's put this out there: I DO NOT LIVE A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE. I eat fried food, I eat out a lot (hence, why I think I got the bacteria). I barely work out, and I'm considered overweight. (NOT BRAGGING, JUST BEING TRUTHFUL) And the medicine still worked for me. If you're dealing with horrific side effects, 9/10 you were probably dealing with those things one way or another without medication. For the nausea, eat 1/2 a toast before taking it. For the insomnia, don't take it right before you go to bed, 2-3 hours in advance. The metallic taste goes away after you eat."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Today is day #13 of the treatment. If I had three words to describe the treatment, it would be nasty, bitter, garbage. Things that I suffered in the last 13 days: - Nausea - Headaches - Bloating (especially the first 6-7 days) - Belly pains - Insomnia - Everyone's favorite: Awful metallic taste in the mouth - Heart racing and BP up/down. After the treatment is done, I am planning on being on Nexium (20 mg) for the next two weeks and then will stop and go for a retest. Am I feeling better after the treatment is almost finished? I have no clue. With the awful side effects of the treatment, I have no idea what's happening. I hope I will start feeling a change soon. BUT to all who are suffering, hang in there, guys. This is not the best thing, but we have no choice. PS. I am planning on going to the shooting range after the treatment so I could do some target practice on the empty treatment bottles. :D"

Amoxicillin / clarithromycin / lansoprazole for Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I'm on day 3. The insomnia is by far the worst side effect for me. I didn't sleep at all last night. I'm on this med, but everything prescribed separately, so the amount of pills is overwhelming. The daytime dose seems to be a little better, but at nighttime, I am left tossing and turning and shaking and clenching my teeth. Going to ask my doctor if 1 week will be sufficient in eradicating this bacteria because I'm not sure I can last the full 2 weeks."

Amoxicillin / clarithromycin / lansoprazole for Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I am so happy I found this site!!! I am on day 10 of the HPAC (amoxicillin/clarithromycin/lansoprazole). The first few days were great. Felt better than I have in the last year. But on day 8, I started to feel ill. Terrible, terrible nausea, stomach ache, headache, loss of energy, can’t sleep, hate food, metallic taste... Thought of stopping treatment, but after reading other posts, I will take some probiotics, yogurt, Gravol, and hope it gets me through the next 4 days. I found if you need quick relief from the stomach pain and nausea for an hour, Gaviscon will help. Hope this works. Could not go through another course of treatment."

Amoxicillin / clarithromycin / lansoprazole for Helicobacter Pylori Infection "On Day 6 of the 14-day treatment. The side effects I've experienced haven't been too bad: the bad taste in my mouth (usually at night and first thing in the morning), hard time staying asleep (insomnia), yellow stools, and some left-side aches, which I think may have to do with constipation. I'm sure I would be worse if I didn't take a probiotic with every dose of these meds."

Amoxicillin / clarithromycin / lansoprazole for Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I am not fond of meds, so I wasted 3 months doing Dr. Google on natural approaches. It didn't work, as I continue having stomach pain, reflux, bloating, etc. Out of desperation, I went to the doctor, and he confirmed I had HP. I'm on day 6 and feel miserable with the side effects: insomnia, high pulse rate, stress, etc. However, my gut seems to be better. I can eat better. I will take the probiotics, they seem to help. For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Be your own advocate. I have had anemia, which leaves me fatigued for a very long time. I have suffered from severe bloating, pain, belching, and flatulence. I made an appointment a few weeks ago because I was having difficulty breathing and had severe bloating. I thought it was the arthritis. The blood work showed that my iron levels were 6 micrograms per deciliter. Normal levels for women range from 26 to 170. She has been prescribing me iron supplements for three years. On this particular visit, she sent me for some blood work, and it came back positive for Helicobacter. I was so glad to have a name that had caused me so much pain over the years. Since starting the medication, I have had pretty much all the side effects, including metallic taste in my mouth, severe bloating and pain, vivid dreams, insomnia, diarrhea, and most recently, itching. I am on day 12 of 14 and am looking forward to getting this nasty bacteria out of my system. Chewing gum has helped with the metallic taste."

I have insomnia and no appetite, diarrhea, and chills every time I take it. I remember the Dr. saying some people's bodies can't handle it - if you feel weak, then skip a dosage and start again. Doesn't stop the side effects. Along with all that, I have headaches and a shooting pain in my left arm from time to time. I also feel weak and even dizzy, along with a sore throat that's red in places. The awful taste in my mouth at all times, worsening constipation, headband headache, and up all night with insomnia. If it wasn't worth it to get rid of this stomach infection, I would quit taking this med. That's how bad these side effects combined are for me. For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Was prescribed these drugs for 14 days alongside 4 daily tablets of Metronidazole 250 mg and Nexium instead of Lansoprazole. Diarrhea, headaches, nausea, insomnia, dizziness, tongue numbness/tingling, bad bitter tastes in my mouth. It's almost intolerable and much worse than the actual disease. I'm only on day 6. I'm sticking to it, but it is a struggle every second."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Had to stop after morning three-pack on day 13. Unbearable headache, worsened dizziness, nausea, insomnia, and horrible taste in mouth. I had to take it over Christmas, and it was horrible. Now switching over to naturopathic treatment of mastic gum and Laurcidin (brand of monolaurin). I have heard that using green tea along with those two is helpful. Good luck, everyone! It also helps not to eat the foods that most feed unhealthy bacteria: sugar (with the exception of fruit), wheat, corn, dairy, and alcohol."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Hate this treatment. I had H. pylori for about 3 months before being diagnosed through a poop test. I'm on one 20 mg Nexium, two 500 mg amoxicillin, and one 500 mg Klacid twice a day. It really does suck. I'm on day 7 of 7, thankfully. My ass of a doctor never told me to keep up the good bacteria, he told me to stop with the probiotics. I've had insomnia, random violent nausea, pretty bad abdominal pain, a battery acid taste that never goes away, and it feels like I'm breathing out ammonia! Chills, fever, body pain, and if you're a woman, well, yeah, that side effect too. If this doesn't cure the H. pylori, then they can stay there."

The first day, I had a bad taste in my mouth with increased saliva and at times difficult to swallow. The second day was just the same, but I had insomnia, waking up every 2 hours throughout the night. Currently on day 3, and I still have the same symptoms. I chewed gum when I had a bad taste in my mouth, and it seemed to help. I have been on a bland diet and no caffeine since I started. Hopefully, this treatment is successful for H. pylori. For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "In pain for the last 3 months. Abdominal pain with pins and needles. After 3 ER visits that found nothing, I went to my doctor, who sent me for an EGD. H. Pylori POSITIVE! I am currently starting day 8. I take Amoxicillin, Clarithromycin, and Omeprazole twice a day. 1st day, I just felt very off. 2nd day, diarrhea about 5 times. None since, but I am constantly constipated. 2 days ago, I was able to work for a full 8 hours without paying attention to my pain! I hope this works. Insomnia is an issue. I am getting groin pain too, but I'm not sure if that's related. I get a weird muscle spasm in my right leg. Metallic taste isn't bugging me too much. I have been stuffing my face with whole grains, fruit, and probiotics like kefir and yogurt. Overall, I'd say it hasn't been horrible. I urge you to take a lot of probiotics during treatment. Also, bone broth with ginger and turmeric quickly got rid of my nausea on my 2nd day. 6 1/2 days to go. Hope everyone recovers!"

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I was placed on clarithromycin to get rid of my strep. I'm extremely allergic to penicillin, so this seemed like the best option. I was warned about a metallic taste that may occur and insomnia. I did indeed get both, but loose stool (not so bad), sweating, weirdly vivid dreams (much like those you get on malaria medication), loss of appetite, fatigue, and gas (burping and the other kind). It wasn't that bad, and so far it's very helpful in clearing up my strep. I would 100% recommend this to anyone!"

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "This is not an easy treatment. I’m on day 14 of 14 days treatment. Days 1-5 were the worst. I had all symptoms mentioned before: chest pain, abdominal pain, insomnia, bloating, super gassy, depression, and tiredness/weakness. I thought I was going to die since neither my doctor nor the pharmacist told me about these symptoms. I went to the ER twice, but everything seemed okay, and they sent me home. After these days, I started on a diet - lots of probiotics, no fat or candies, no oil, and little salt on my food. Then things started getting better. My symptoms were basically light abdominal pain and being super gassy. The past 2/3 nights I’ve been having some trouble going back to sleep at night. It’s definitely not an easy treatment. I thought about stopping a few times - especially on the first few days, but we need to keep going. Otherwise, we will have to do it all again. Amoxicillin / clarithromycin / lansoprazole for Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I put off taking this for 8 months. The large dose of antibiotics is something I don’t take lightly. Probiotics are a MUST with this and any antibiotic. Saccharomyces boulardii is a probiotic resistant against antibiotics, so it helps with digestive discomfort and to somewhat preserve the gut flora. Helped me stay regular. I really didn't want to take this strong dosage, but it worked! I did adjust my diet as best I could in hopes of eradicating H. pylori. I limited wheat as best I could and no sugar or alcohol… The worst side effect was the gross taste in the mouth. It mostly came a few hours after taking a dose, so in the late AM and in the middle of the night. Drinking water helped, and I got used to it or it lessened by day 14. My appetite was good and is important with this medication. I ate yogurt and honey to help my gut as well. One night I had insomnia, but I’m not 100% sure it came from this med. I’m so glad it worked. 14 days."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Did a week of treatment and didn’t work. I am now on the 12th day of a 14-day treatment. It has been horrendous, went to the toilet 20 times on day seven, normal stools. I suppose the bad bacteria has to go somewhere. Had headaches, metal mouth, chills, insomnia, very bloated tummy. For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I was on all these 3 medicines. It was horrible insomnia the whole time. I could only do 5 days, and then even other day, I couldn't sleep at all, and I have insomnia already, so it made it worse. There has to be something better out there. Please don't say that it's not that bad. It might not be bad for you, but that's not everybody. When you have sleeping problems, and I am taking sleeping pills, and it still gave me insomnia."
