For Schizoaffective Disorder "While the Invega Sustenna negated my psychosis, I have experienced anhedonia and lactation due to raised prolactin levels. I can't enjoy music or anything else for that matter. I also now have a tic where I have to move my mouth, I don't know if it's medication-related. I get my period once every three months and have lowered sexual pleasure. I feel like this drug took any enjoyment out of life, and I'd rather be on something else as my symptoms are not severe and Invega is not good."

For Schizoaffective Disorder "I was in denial about my illness for about 8 years before I finally went to the hospital by police escort (with the help of my family). I had lost my marriage, couldn’t do my job, and I couldn’t figure out why all this was happening to me. The doctor at the hospital ordered the Invega Sustenna injection, and it completely turned my life around. 5 years later, I’m in a great relationship, and I’ve been able to go back to school, earning A’s in my classes. People like me again. I did try to go off of the medication last year with the help of my doctor to see if having children would be possible. We have to do more homework on our options because I was only able to stay off for 6 months after the taper. For me, I’m very thankful for this medication. Yes, I gained 20 pounds, but that isn’t terrible when I consider that I’m no longer hurting the people who care about me."

For Schizophrenia "Gained 40 lbs in two weeks right after taking it. Made me pale (I'm olive complexion). Made anxiety horrible for a few months (could not stop moving around). Messed up sleeping habits for a few months. Stopped my periods for three months in a row. Never had problems with any of these things before taking. Been off for ten months now, just now getting back to close to normal."

"I took this injection for 5 years, and it was the most pain I've ever experienced. I had to get a legal assistant and do a review panel to get off the injection, and I won. I've been off it for 4.5 months now and still laying in bed all day with extreme pain. They should stop giving this medication, make it illegal, and give money back for time lost at work and extreme pain! Rips me off because I have great parents and love my family, so what's going on? I'm so thankful I'm off it now and feeling a bit better, so hoping I get healthy and happy again! Don't take it, it's poison....!!"

For Schizophrenia "Horrible side effects! Caused facial hair, missed periods, swollen tender breasts, I would produce breast milk though I was not pregnant, severe uncontrolled muscle jerks, spasms, changed color of pubic hairs. After a year, I still had involuntary movements and spasms. My neighbors assumed I had Parkinson's disease."

For Schizophrenia "I was injected twice with Invega Sustenna. I had no sex drive, no emotion, no pleasure for the first three weeks. I was miserable, and it lasted 8 to 9 months off the drug. I wouldn't recommend this drug to anybody. I am on Abilify Maintena now, and I am feeling much better. 0/10 Invega Sustenna."

For Schizophrenia "Miserable all the time on these Invega injections from several side effects. I'm mentally blank like poverty in thoughts. I'll sit around a lot staring at TV while mindless. I have no emotions except anxiety and akathisia, which is chronic restlessness. I take Inderal blood pressure medication to treat akathisia. Feel like an emotionless robot going through the motions and barely alive. Poor memory, focus, learning, and concentration. Feel physically numb. Gained 40 pounds. No sex drive and no libido. No interest and motivation to do anything."

For Schizoaffective Disorder "Put on Invega for bipolar mood swings. I could not get past the first couple of days trying this medication. My nose stuffed up, and my body felt like dead weight. On day 2, I had a huge panic attack in the evening. I ate from 7 pm to 12 am. No, no, and no."

For Schizoaffective Disorder "When I first started taking Invega, it took away the voices and delusional thoughts better than the other injection I was receiving. Weaning off of it was not hard, but I was also taking large doses of niacin and lithium at the time. I had a manic episode that lasted 3 months after withdrawing. After that, one injection brought me back to reality in less than a day. I have extreme weight gain on Invega, drowsiness (sleep 12 hours a day), and decreased sex drive. Though it is important for me to point out, like I said, no mania or hallucinating. I function well on the injection. It is the side effects that I have trouble dealing with."

"Suffered from delusions while awake for 4 days. I am bipolar. Got admitted to the hospital after the police brought me in. Was given about 8 days of Zyprexa and felt relatively normal. The MDs sold Invega Sustenna as a way to stay free of psychotic behavior and to not have to take a daily pill. My biggest side effect is sedation. I find it incredibly hard to stay up past 8 pm and then stay in bed as late as I can (11 am). It's like all my dopamine/serotonin is just gone, I feel like a zombie. I received the initial dosage intramuscularly on Dec 14th (234 mg) and the second initial dosage intramuscularly on Dec 19th (156 mg). It is now the 28th, and I have felt horrible every single day I have been on it. Will be discussing with my psychiatrist. If the half-life of this drug is true, this should stay with me until June. If you are not schizophrenic, do not choose to take even the initial dose of this drug, you are signing up for a horrible ride with no going back once it begins."

For Schizoaffective Disorder "This is a terrible drug. In four days, I've had heart palpitations, wheezing, shakes, insomnia, aggression, restlessness. Horrible drug for schizophrenics. I interacted more with my voices due to insomnia and headaches. I had to call the suicide crisis line because I had a panic attack so severe on night 4 of taking this poison."

For Schizoaffective Disorder "I've been on Invega now for 2 months, it has stopped the hallucinations and delusions but has also increased my depression. I feel emotionally numb and am tired all the time. I also can't exercise like I used to, too tired to even walk. I'm still adjusting to this new med, so hopefully things will settle down."

For Schizoaffective Disorder "It helped so much right away, but then the honeymoon wore off, and it gave me 20 lbs weight gain and an uncontrollable appetite. That slowly went away a month later, and then I was on injection and started to experience my bladder being constricted, and I'd have to go 10-12 times some days. The med helps me 'stabilize,' but it also now is getting me steadily more depressed, and I am getting such intense anhedonia. I'm going to go back to Haldol, I think. It's like a chemical lobotomy, but most meds are anyways, and no one really cares about those who suffer from mental illness."

"DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE. I had one shot of Invega two years ago. I have quit my jobs, dropped out of school, and hate myself. I now suffer irregular muscle movements, inability to resensitize (process new information), hypertension, and slow metabolism. Don't take this medication. Don't take this medication. Don't take this medication. Do not take this medication. If you don't believe me, then keep searching Invega Sustenna reviews. Thousands of negative reviews."

For Schizoaffective Disorder "I feel like this medication has ruined my life completely because I ended up gaining weight, having prediabetes, and not having my period for 2 years. My biggest concern is am I gonna be able to have children when I get older. I decided that I rather stop taking this medication because it can ruin your future."

For Schizoaffective Disorder "Horrible drug, causes weight gain. I call it the '15 lbs shot', with every shot, I gained another 15 lbs. My hallucinations went into overdrive, I could not sleep, depressed, angry, overweight, psychotic, hated every day. I am now seeing a new psychiatrist, and I am getting my life back without the Invega Sustenna injection."

For Schizophrenia "I was on Risperdal for 3 years. I switched to Invega just over a month ago and am already losing a good deal of weight. I do sometimes get restless, but I accept this as the price for not sleeping 17 hours a day on Risperdal. My appetite is normal, and I don't eat huge portions anymore. My energy is up, and I can actually feel emotions fully again for the first time in a long, long time. Would recommend giving this a try to anyone - just remember some people get different side effects. For me, this also took away sexual side effects that were limiting my relationships."

For Schizoaffective Disorder "This is the worst possible nightmare of a drug. I was injected with one 234 mg dose and never took the 2nd shot or 156 mg because I felt so horrible. I was so miserable I wanted to die. I had no emotion, no imagination, no memory, and no initiative. I disappeared into a dark hole for months. It took 6 months before I started to feel any better. It took about 2 1/2 years before I felt like I was anywhere near back to normal. Don't let anyone inject you with this poison. You will regret it."

For Schizoaffective Disorder "I took Invega Sustenna for a year and a half. I was forced on it by my old mental hospital, and the family member I was living with told me I had to stay on Invega to live with this person. I got a 234 mg shot once a month for a year and a half. This drug completely ruined my life. It is absolute garbage for anyone's body. I went from 170 pounds to 300 pounds within this time frame (this is literally the most weight I had ever gained in my entire LIFE.) It turned me into a complete couch potato, made me so lazy and tired that I had to drink at least 3 cups of coffee a day to counter this problem. It completely destroyed my motivation for doing ANYTHING throughout my day. I sat around eating junk food, but also healthy food. Regardless of what I ate, I would gain 10 pounds every single month. I am really tired of the USA and its doctors promoting these awful 'medications' to sick people as if they are good options. There was zero benefit to using Invega, do NOT take this drug."

For Schizophrenia "Warning: this shot will destroy your life. I only had 1 shot, the 234 mg. I dropped out of school, became depressed. It's been 3 years, and I still suffer from absence of emotion. It doesn't sound like much, but trust me, life becomes empty without emotions. In some cultures, hallucinations are a sign from beyond. People that can hear or see things will often become shamans, medicine men, or healers. I highly recommend meditation and/or seeing someone that is an energy healer."

For Schizoaffective Disorder "I was misdiagnosed with schizoaffective disorder and received the booster and initial shot of this medication. I had terrible side effects, including 60 lb of weight gain. I also slept a lot and had little energy. After 6 months of discontinuation, I finally started losing weight and returned to my normal weight. I had to take a gap year during this time, and this drug wasted a year of my life."

For Schizophrenia "I have been on Invega for 7 months. I have noticed many side effects like muscle stiffness, agitation, involuntary movements, horrific nightmares, headaches, and I have gained about 40 pounds in that time while continuing to exercise and eat healthily. I was on 9 mg for about 3 months and then was lowered to 3 mg. It did stop my severe psychosis when initially prescribed, so for that, I am very grateful. I am now weaning off the medication to hopefully improve my quality of life. Would not recommend unless absolutely necessary."

For Schizoaffective Disorder "Since I've been put on this medicine, I've had a difficult time socializing. I have trouble with conversations, and everyday activities seem very overwhelming and hard. Work has become increasingly difficult to perform. I'm also very easily tired compared to before taking this medication. This drug shouldn't be allowed to be prescribed to people. I now fear having to talk to people. I also have a very difficult time being sexually aroused."

For Schizophrenia "I've been on this drug/medicine for about two years, and it has caused a lot of problems in my life. It barely helped with the auditory hallucinations such as the voices and paranoia. I feel like a zombie all the time, really tired, drained of energy, and like my brain is slowed down. I've had little to no sex drive (sexual dysfunction) and have no pleasure from sex. Within the first couple of weeks of getting the injection of Invega Sustenna every month, I get muscle stiffness in my neck, arms, and hands. I feel like I can't breathe, along with a rapid heartbeat and a fever. I become confused, unable to function, dizzy, and lightheaded. This happens two to three times a month within a few weeks after getting the injection. I believe it might be because of NMS (neuroleptic malignant syndrome), which is a rare side effect of the drug/medicine that might cause death. This is a horrible drug/medicine for me. I'm going to try a different medicine from a different doctor and hope for the best."

For Schizophrenia "Invega Sustenna nearly ruined my life. If I had given myself the choice between a life without the capacity to feel or be present while the rest of the world ignored my problem, or manage myself holistically with smaller challenges, I would have chosen the latter. Also note that breast milk develops in most patients, and it took nearly a year of removing the drug/pharmaceutical from my system to put an end to that nightmare. Choose what you put into your body wisely."
