Oxycodone "I’m a registered nurse and home care. In 2013, my car spun out, and I had numerous injuries, including a traumatic brain injury, three fractured vertebrae, a lacerated spleen, and three broken ribs. Since 2013, up until 2019, I had chronic pain day in and day out, around the clock, even when I took Tylenol. One day, I went to my doctor in tears because I tried taking a night class, but the driving and sitting in my car caused me too much pain. So she suggested I go to a pain center for treatment. Lo and behold, I was prescribed 10 mg of oxycodone three times a day, which I’ve been taking for over a year now, and I wake up in the morning, take my medication, and have level one pain, which is basically not much."

Oxycodone "So, my doctor thinks Xtampza ER is the safest choice? Even though plasma levels are hugely dependent on high-fat food. I think this drug is dangerous. Give me plain old, cheap, generic oxycodone any day. Every day since being switched to Xtampza has been agonizing."

Oxycodone "At my request, due to daily soaking sweats, I went from 8 years of methadone for chronic spinal pain (add severe psoriatic AR + RA) to Xtampza 13.5 twice per day. The pharmaceutical company has played a joke on us with this one. They need to just trash the Xtampza and start all over. I never knew just how well the methadone was working (despite sweats) to lessen my pain until I switched to this garbage."

Oxycodone "I would just like to say that I have been taking OxyContin along with other strong pain medication for years. I have been blessed by doctors who understand what chronic pain can do to your life and not being afraid to prescribe what is needed. Although I am still in chronic pain, I would not be able to get out of bed without these medications."

Oxycodone "I find OxyContin very effective, but it took some time to get it to where it was most effective. I found it most surprising that higher doses caused more pain. My doctor is great. He worked WITH me to adjust it many up & down on dosage. Best of all, WE were able to find a low dose of OxyContin & Oxycodone combination that has worked consistently for over a year now without adjustments. Find a doctor that is also a real partner in your health care!"

Oxycodone "I too was forced to use something other than MS Contin. Xtampza was chosen, and I suffered through it for 3 weeks before calling my physician in tears to let him know that I had no relief whatsoever from the pain, and as well, I was experiencing headaches, diarrhea, and deeper depression. I was then given a prescription for Belbuca film. Would have liked to try it, but insurance doesn't cover it, and it costs $475 a month! What are we to do???"

Oxycodone "I have chronic pancreatitis - cause unknown (I do not drink alcohol). The pain from this disease is constant and severe. I take OxyContin 30 mg twice daily, and it is very effective in controlling the pain and keeping it, for the most part, at a tolerable level (about 4-5 on the 1-10 pain scale). For occasional episodes of breakthrough pain, which can be very bad, I have oral Dilaudid 2 mg. I do not take this often, only when needed. It helps me avoid trips to the ER for pain control. Dilaudid is not often prescribed for home use. I'm under the care of a pain specialist. Neither my GI nor endocrinologist can prescribe schedule II narcotics. Chronic pancreatitis is one of the most painful diseases a person can have."

"Recent 15 mg oxycodone Mallinckrodt ineffective. Only makes me sleepy with minimal pain relief. I think the days of getting opioids that worked are over. I am very upset by this. We have to speak up to our providers and file reports with the FDA. Scroll down, there are reviews below that list where to file your complaint if your medication isn’t working. We all must take the time in which to do so."

Oxycodone "I have 7 bulging discs, DDD and AS, on daily pain meds for 7 years. I requested a long-acting pain med and had been on oxycodone IR 10mg, 3 times a day. My doctor switched me to OxyContin 10mg, 4 times per day. AMAZING RESULTS! I no longer feel drugged, I feel like myself again. The IR made me feel drugged and only lasted 3 hours, it was a rollercoaster all day long. I take 2 in the morning, 1 at 2 pm, and 1 at 6 pm, and do not feel like I am on any medication at all, but the pain has gone from an 8 to a 2 (if I don't move) to maybe a 4 or 5 at worst. I am able to clean the house, shower, do many activities I was unable to do before. I feel so blessed that I have my life back. It seems to give me energy, but no other side effects at all. No dry mouth either."

Oxycodone "Degenerative Disc Disease. In 20 years, I have been through all the medicines a regular doctor can write a prescription for. Once in pain management, I started with 10 mg of OxyContin twice a day, then increased to 20 mg twice a day. Now I am on OxyContin 20 mg twice a day. OxyContin has worked for me in the long haul."

Oxycodone "I’ve been on Xtampza since January 2019. I have post-laminectomy syndrome, spinal stenosis, levoscoliosis, rheumatoid arthritis, facet joint arthrosis, DDD, and a few herniated discs in my C-spine and L-spine, and I’m only 35. As with all medications, everyone’s body works differently in regards to medicine. For me, Xtampza works great, and I find that it covers my pain most of the time for a full 24 hours. Granted, my pain does change with the weather. However, I have found that Xtampza works better than OxyContin for me."

Oxycodone "I am a double amputee with both hips totally replaced. Degenerative arthritis was the reason for the replacements. I am 64, and oxycodone 10mg, three times daily, returned my life to me after 11 surgeries. Four months ago, my PCP (primary care doctor) said he could no longer prescribe them. I have been in a wheelchair since the removal. Being in a nursing facility was my only option. I get to see a pain management doctor soon and hope I can get my meds back, along with my life."

"I’ve been taking Oxycodone 10 mg bid for more than 7 years, for chronic back, leg, and foot nerve pain, due to two spinal cord surgeries. I actually have a split cord. It’s worked okay, given that I could get about 4/5 “good” hours in a day in which I could be productive. I switched recently to the APAP formula, thinking that it might work better. They do not work as well as straight Oxycodone. My meds are in my bedroom, so I take one and go to the kitchen for something to swallow it. By the time I get there, I can taste them. For the past two months, I’ve noticed that some taste bitter, which is the normal taste. But at least half of them had a sweet, sugary aftertaste to them. Those pills, I’ve noticed, do not work! Beware! I also have Spina Bifida, and this doesn’t help the situation. I’m tired of hearing about this opioid epidemic, which is impacting my quality of life. Those who do not know chronic pain can never understand chronic pain."

Oxycodone "I have taken all the usual prescription opiates over the past 14 years almost daily. Xtampza is very inconsistent and dangerous and therefore ineffective. My experience is that it is not time-released. The withdrawal is the worst, yet I paid a lot of money for these fancy capsules, which are just a marketing scheme. I would not recommend this so-called pain med to anyone. Big pharma guinea pig!!"

Oxycodone "Been taking Percocet, which is merely oxycodone with Tylenol. Doc just changed me to Dazidox (plain oxycodone). NOTHING. I called my pharmacy and said WTH. Are you giving me a placebo? Pharmacist suggested I take a Tylenol with each dose of Dazidox. I’m taking 10 mg. Was taking 7.5 of Percocet. If the coronavirus doesn’t get me, this DO NOTHING DRUG will."

Oxycodone "After an injury with a chainsaw, I was put on morphine. It made me feel 'thick' and groggy. It also didn't cut the pain. I asked my doctor to put me on oxycodone and OxyContin. I found this to be better at reducing pain without the brain fog."

Oxycodone "I began suffering from severe, chronic pain almost 9 years ago, when I developed a very serious condition known as progressive kyphoscoliosis that affected all levels of my spine. Specifically, my cervical and thoracic spine began to bend forward, while the lower portion of my thoracic and entire lumbo-sacral spine began bending to the right. The end result of this condition is death as the bending spine will eventually crush the heart and lungs. It took a few months to find a doctor near my home, who was willing to treat the severe, chronic pain with MS Contin 100 mg. and my breakthrough pain with the 30 mg Morphine Sulfate IR tablets. This medication stopped the bending. 9 years later I take MS Contin 200 mg 3 times per day and 30 mg Oxy prn."

Oxycodone "I've been on OxyContin for 6 years now. Of course, my PM doc gave me the lowest dose and worked up from there. I am at the maximum amount they will give me, which is 80mg 3 times a day, plus Oxy IR 30mg 3 times a day, and Soma 350mg 3 times a day. It may seem like a lot, but over the years my body developed a tolerance to this medicine. Now I have been on this same dose for 3 years, and it is perfect. No need to take anymore. The bad thing is the DEA inspected my doc's office and asked him to switch all of his patients off of OxyContin to morphine. So now I am on morphine. I am finding that it does not work as well as the OxyContin."

Oxycodone "I was on Fentanyl 50 mcg per hr, changing the patch every 48 hrs, before asking to be switched to MS Contin 60 mgs TID, and that stopped working after over 3 years of being on the same dosage. Finally, my doctor suggested I switch to Xtampza ER 36 mg BID. Once I switched to Xtampza ER, my pain not only increased, but my breakthrough medications had to be increased to Roxicodone 30 mg every 4-6 hrs PRN. Finally, after 3 months on Xtampza, my doctor put me back on Exalgo 16 mg/24 hr and left me on the Roxicodone 30 mg every 4-6 hrs PRN, but I hardly have to use more than 3 of those per day and am no longer suffering any pain."

Oxycodone "Why are the reports for the public to read so jaded against the use of opioid medications? Too many false reports of abuse in chronic pain patients are mixed with clear reports of heroin abuse & deaths from heroin. Myself & most chronic pain patients, who are well-educated on side effects before starting opioids, all agree that the misuse of these opioids would never enter our minds. When prescribed these drugs, the result is the regift of our lives & functioning again. It is something we'd never chance losing after suffering the complete loss of sanity from unending pain that affects our ability to function in every way that a normal human takes for granted every day, every minute of their day and of their life. I'm in my 17th year of receiving pain relief with fentanyl."

"I have MS, and suffer from chronic pain. I have been on and off oxycodone for the last 20 years. Currently, I am taking 300 mg of oxycodone and 80 mg of OxyContin a day to manage my pain due to the tolerance I've built up over the years. My doctor unilaterally decided that he wanted to lower my doses. I asked him why, and he had no answer. Without them, I'm a bedridden man and am unable to function. In one visit, he cut my dose in half, which is very dangerous for my MS. So, I went to my neurologist, who understands more about the illness. He took over my care. I'm not talking to you abusers who take them to get high with no medical reason. It is because of you that it makes it difficult on us who actually need them for pain."

Oxycodone "I have taken this drug for over 20 years for chronic pain. If I stop 1 person from starting this drug, then it has been worth it. Initially, it was the best pain reliever I ever tried. The problem is it is very addictive and stops working. The only way to sustain relief is to increase the dosage. I started at 60 mg and wound up at 200 mg. Unfortunately, at that dosage over the years causes brain cell deterioration. Remembering things becomes difficult, like family functions. In time, you become a walking zombie and numb to everything around you. You will lose interest in life and become drug sick if you don't take your pill on time. Your relief will no longer be there because it stops working after time. I am off now and have my life back."

Oxycodone "I've been on OxyContin CR 30mg 2x a day for 8 years. Oxycodone 10 mg IR for breakthrough pain. It works and has been the only drug that has kept me from giving up. I have had spinal disease since my late 20s. I've probably, over the years, been on every pain med, but they always quit working or I ended up needing more as time went by. I don't want more! My insurance decided a few years back that OxyContin ER would no longer be on their 'formulary'. I appealed to the insurance company. They denied my appeal. I went through a third-party physician (the insurance company's procedure) and won the appeal. The unbiased physician agreed with my doctor. Those who abused the opioids made us, who have chronic pain issues, really have to suffer for their irresponsibility. I won against the HMO Medicare insurance company. It makes me happy each month when they have to fill it without complaint, even though I know they hate paying for it! When did insurance companies become physicians anyway?"

Oxycodone "I've had chronic pain for over 9 years now due to fibromyalgia and rheumatoid after I had a neck fusion back in 2005. Every day I have a lot of pain that I couldn't get out of bed without taking my med first. I'm on OxyContin 20 mg 2 a day every 12 hours and Percocet 10/325 4 a day for breakthrough. OxyContin doesn't work for me really well, it lasts about 3 to 4 hours, then I have to take Percocet for breakthrough pain to help me some more. So, altogether with these two medications, I still have a lot of pain that I'm coping with. I wish the doctor would increase the OxyContin, but he doesn't want to, so I have to live with all this pain every day for almost 10 years now. You know it's really bad to live with chronic pain every day. SomeoneHelpMe."
