OxyContin (oxycodone) "I have chronic pancreatitis - cause unknown (I do not drink alcohol). The pain from this disease is constant and severe. I take OxyContin 30 mg twice daily, and it is very effective in controlling the pain and keeping it, for the most part, at a tolerable level (about 4-5 on the 1-10 pain scale). For occasional episodes of breakthrough pain, which can be very bad, I have oral Dilaudid 2 mg. I do not take this often, only when needed. It helps me avoid trips to the ER for pain control. Dilaudid is not often prescribed for home use. I'm under the care of a pain specialist. Neither my GI nor endocrinologist can prescribe schedule II narcotics. Chronic pancreatitis is one of the most painful diseases a person can have."

Dazidox (oxycodone) "Been taking Percocet, which is merely oxycodone with Tylenol. Doc just changed me to Dazidox (plain oxycodone). NOTHING. I called my pharmacy and said WTH. Are you giving me a placebo? Pharmacist suggested I take a Tylenol with each dose of Dazidox. I’m taking 10 mg. Was taking 7.5 of Percocet. If the coronavirus doesn’t get me, this DO NOTHING DRUG will."

OxyContin (oxycodone) "My PM doc ran me through the gamut of long-acting painkillers before settling on OxyContin. When I started seeing this PM doc, I had been taking 15 mg Oxycodone (IR) 6 times a day, and he told me we needed to get me on a long-acting medicine. We tried Exalgo, Opana, Avinza, Nucynta, and Exalgo again. They all seemed to provide adequate pain relief, just not for the amount of time they claim to. Back to old faithful, OxyContin/oxycodone hasn't failed me yet."

Roxicodone (oxycodone) "I was on Percocet 10/325, the highest dose. It was killing my stomach, but since my doctor changed it to just Roxicodone without acetaminophen, I feel much better. It definitely helps with the pain. I take a lot less pills now because I'm on the right dose. I haven't had any bad reactions either so far. Been on this for almost a year now."

"Recent 15 mg oxycodone Mallinckrodt ineffective. Only makes me sleepy with minimal pain relief. I think the days of getting opioids that worked are over. I am very upset by this. We have to speak up to our providers and file reports with the FDA. Scroll down, there are reviews below that list where to file your complaint if your medication isn’t working. We all must take the time in which to do so."

OxyContin (oxycodone) "I find OxyContin very effective, but it took some time to get it to where it was most effective. I found it most surprising that higher doses caused more pain. My doctor is great. He worked WITH me to adjust it many up & down on dosage. Best of all, WE were able to find a low dose of OxyContin & Oxycodone combination that has worked consistently for over a year now without adjustments. Find a doctor that is also a real partner in your health care!"

OxyContin (oxycodone) "I've been on OxyContin for 6 years now. Of course, my PM doc gave me the lowest dose and worked up from there. I am at the maximum amount they will give me, which is 80mg 3 times a day, plus Oxy IR 30mg 3 times a day, and Soma 350mg 3 times a day. It may seem like a lot, but over the years my body developed a tolerance to this medicine. Now I have been on this same dose for 3 years, and it is perfect. No need to take anymore. The bad thing is the DEA inspected my doc's office and asked him to switch all of his patients off of OxyContin to morphine. So now I am on morphine. I am finding that it does not work as well as the OxyContin."

OxyContin (oxycodone) "Degenerative Disc Disease. In 20 years, I have been through all the medicines a regular doctor can write a prescription for. Once in pain management, I started with 10 mg of OxyContin twice a day, then increased to 20 mg twice a day. Now I am on OxyContin 20 mg twice a day. OxyContin has worked for me in the long haul."

Xtampza ER (oxycodone) "I too was forced to use something other than MS Contin. Xtampza was chosen, and I suffered through it for 3 weeks before calling my physician in tears to let him know that I had no relief whatsoever from the pain, and as well, I was experiencing headaches, diarrhea, and deeper depression. I was then given a prescription for Belbuca film. Would have liked to try it, but insurance doesn't cover it, and it costs $475 a month! What are we to do???"

Xtampza ER (oxycodone) "I was started on Xtampza ER in Jan 2020. CMS removed OxyContin ER from the formulary in 2020 and switched to Xtampza ER mfg by Collegium. My pain group started me on 18 mg Xtampza vs. the 20 mg OxyContin ER. After three months, I told PM it was not working. She upped it to 27 mg Xtampza. I hit the coverage gap in May. I refuse to pay over $100+ for a drug that does very little, so when I had my telehealth appt on Friday, I told her it really was doing little to help me, and I refused to have it filled. It's just shy of being a worthless pain medication. I have heard from several the same thing."

Xtampza ER (oxycodone) "At my request, due to daily soaking sweats, I went from 8 years of methadone for chronic spinal pain (add severe psoriatic AR + RA) to Xtampza 13.5 twice per day. The pharmaceutical company has played a joke on us with this one. They need to just trash the Xtampza and start all over. I never knew just how well the methadone was working (despite sweats) to lessen my pain until I switched to this garbage."

OxyContin (oxycodone) "I was on 4 x 5 mg Oxycodone IR for my pain. After a year or so, I felt I needed an extra pill to cover me for 24 hrs. Doctor switched me to OxyNeo 2 x 10 mg every 12 hours plus 5 mg of Oxycodone for breakthrough if needed. The first 2 days I felt great, OxyNeo took care of the pain, and I did not feel drowsy or tired. However, after the 3rd day, I started feeling very agitated and angry after I took my OxyNeo. I'm not sure what's going on. Has anyone reacted like this to long-acting Oxycodone? Too bad because I liked this long-acting one, but feeling angry all day is not worth it either."

OxyContin (oxycodone) "I have 7 bulging discs, DDD and AS, on daily pain meds for 7 years. I requested a long-acting pain med and had been on oxycodone IR 10mg, 3 times a day. My doctor switched me to OxyContin 10mg, 4 times per day. AMAZING RESULTS! I no longer feel drugged, I feel like myself again. The IR made me feel drugged and only lasted 3 hours, it was a rollercoaster all day long. I take 2 in the morning, 1 at 2 pm, and 1 at 6 pm, and do not feel like I am on any medication at all, but the pain has gone from an 8 to a 2 (if I don't move) to maybe a 4 or 5 at worst. I am able to clean the house, shower, do many activities I was unable to do before. I feel so blessed that I have my life back. It seems to give me energy, but no other side effects at all. No dry mouth either."

OxyContin (oxycodone) "I would just like to say that I have been taking OxyContin along with other strong pain medication for years. I have been blessed by doctors who understand what chronic pain can do to your life and not being afraid to prescribe what is needed. Although I am still in chronic pain, I would not be able to get out of bed without these medications."

OxyContin (oxycodone) "I am a double amputee with both hips totally replaced. Degenerative arthritis was the reason for the replacements. I am 64, and oxycodone 10mg, three times daily, returned my life to me after 11 surgeries. Four months ago, my PCP (primary care doctor) said he could no longer prescribe them. I have been in a wheelchair since the removal. Being in a nursing facility was my only option. I get to see a pain management doctor soon and hope I can get my meds back, along with my life."

Xtampza ER (oxycodone) "Just took a 13.5 mg capsule and sprinkled it on yogurt, it hit me in 10 minutes, extremely loopy, but yes, it really works. Those people out there saying that it doesn’t work probably may have become tolerant of everything. Take your meds as prescribed, people. Do not overtake, this stuff works great. I feel 0% pain right now for the first time in 20 years."

"The larger issues with generic pain medication are twofold: 1) The FDA does not have a standard to measure the generic oxycodone performance, as there was never a brand name to set the standard. The FDA cannot test because there is no standard or baseline minimums for comparative analysis; and 2) The FDA rules on the initial approval of a generic medication do not require any hard rule for minimum amount of effective ingredient and does not require FDA testing. 1) Immediately report this to your treating physician. If in a hospital, you, and only you, have to agree to be discharged from care. A doctor or hospital cannot force you to be discharged, or it's considered abandonment of patient care; and 2) File a report of adverse effects of the medication with the FDA immediately. You can report an issue with a medication to the FDA online by Googling MedWatch Online Voluntary Reporting Form or via telephone at: Call FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088."

Roxicodone (oxycodone) "After an injury with a chainsaw, I was put on morphine. It made me feel 'thick' and groggy. It also didn't cut the pain. I asked my doctor to put me on oxycodone and OxyContin. I found this to be better at reducing pain without the brain fog."

Xtampza ER (oxycodone) "So, my doctor thinks Xtampza ER is the safest choice? Even though plasma levels are hugely dependent on high-fat food. I think this drug is dangerous. Give me plain old, cheap, generic oxycodone any day. Every day since being switched to Xtampza has been agonizing."

"I’ve been taking Oxycodone 10 mg bid for more than 7 years, for chronic back, leg, and foot nerve pain, due to two spinal cord surgeries. I actually have a split cord. It’s worked okay, given that I could get about 4/5 “good” hours in a day in which I could be productive. I switched recently to the APAP formula, thinking that it might work better. They do not work as well as straight Oxycodone. My meds are in my bedroom, so I take one and go to the kitchen for something to swallow it. By the time I get there, I can taste them. For the past two months, I’ve noticed that some taste bitter, which is the normal taste. But at least half of them had a sweet, sugary aftertaste to them. Those pills, I’ve noticed, do not work! Beware! I also have Spina Bifida, and this doesn’t help the situation. I’m tired of hearing about this opioid epidemic, which is impacting my quality of life. Those who do not know chronic pain can never understand chronic pain."

OxyContin (oxycodone) "I have been on opiates for 15 years now because of a degenerative condition on my C5 and C6 disks and a sterno-clavicular joint with constant subluxation and arthrosis. 3 years ago I was prescribed OxyContin 20 mg 2x daily, and for breakthrough pain, I simply chew 1/3 to 1/2 of a 20 mg OxyContin tablet. Less side effects than morphine and much better pain management combined with Celecoxib and Paracetamol. I do not overmedicate when I do not need it since I had such bad experiences with tramadol addiction, that stuff was vile. Sometimes I take it a few weeks in a row and pause when I can to lessen the habituation, and I never will get dependent. 42 pieces of 20 mg OxyContin tabs are enough for like 2 months of quality life as it very effectively takes the edge off the pain that I have every time I am standing or being active for more than a few hours in a row. Besides some pruritus (itching) from time to time and the occasional constipation I get from OxyContin, all is well. An 8+ out of 10 from me!"

Xtampza ER (oxycodone) "I have taken all the usual prescription opiates over the past 14 years almost daily. Xtampza is very inconsistent and dangerous and therefore ineffective. My experience is that it is not time-released. The withdrawal is the worst, yet I paid a lot of money for these fancy capsules, which are just a marketing scheme. I would not recommend this so-called pain med to anyone. Big pharma guinea pig!!"

Oxyfast (oxycodone) "I began suffering from severe, chronic pain almost 9 years ago, when I developed a very serious condition known as progressive kyphoscoliosis that affected all levels of my spine. Specifically, my cervical and thoracic spine began to bend forward, while the lower portion of my thoracic and entire lumbo-sacral spine began bending to the right. The end result of this condition is death as the bending spine will eventually crush the heart and lungs. It took a few months to find a doctor near my home, who was willing to treat the severe, chronic pain with MS Contin 100 mg. and my breakthrough pain with the 30 mg Morphine Sulfate IR tablets. This medication stopped the bending. 9 years later I take MS Contin 200 mg 3 times per day and 30 mg Oxy prn."

Xtampza ER (oxycodone) "I have 4 herniated discs in my neck, two failed right shoulder rotator cuff surgeries, back surgery on L5, and esophageal cancer that has not spread (thank God). I'm starting on Xtampza ER in a few days for this chronic pain and was very nervous, however, it's time. I was taking four 15 mg oxy IR. Down to four 10/325 Percocet and will now be trying two x 18 Xtampza plus one breakthrough. After reading some of the real comments from people switching to Xtampza, that the drug actually works, I feel more confident. I will report back once I'm taking to give a full and honest report. I will give an honest report back as I'm not looking to get high - I just want to manage the pain so I can live a subpar but somewhat normal life, what I have left. Good luck to all of you with your pain management issues."
