For Bipolar Disorder "This medication has made me extremely tired! I feel like I've lost all of my motivation. I am a teacher and a coach and find it extremely hard to get myself 'up' to do these things. I am very tired in the morning and it's not until late at night that I start to feel like myself again. Only in time to take the medication again and start the process over. It has taken away some anxiety symptoms and helped me sleep (a bit too much), but I feel down a lot because I feel like I lost my passion. I am slowly coming off of it and look forward to getting back to feeling like myself again. I empathize with people on this medication."

For Schizophrenia "Before I took Zyprexa, I was hallucinating due to lack of sleep and exhaustion. While I was hospitalized, I denied my medication and wouldn't take it, but as soon as I took Zyprexa and Remeron, my sleep got better. I stopped hallucinating and hearing things. Thanks to my medication, I haven't been hospitalized for psychosis since I've been given Zyprexa."

For Depression "Definitely relieved morning anxiety attacks. I'm also taking Effexor and Klonopin. I take the Zyprexa at night because it does make me sleepy. I wasn't eating anything at all before starting this drug, so I'm not worried yet about the weight gain; I'm not overdoing it with the food. I don't plan to be on this for long; my doctor told me it's not really a maintenance medication. But if it gets me through the holidays and my horrible anxiety about work, I'm fine with that."

For Bipolar Disorder "I've been taking Zyprexa for about 2 weeks now. Family says they can tell a big difference. Mornings are a little hard to get motivated, but I also take Ritalin for ADD, so that helps me get going. Falling asleep easily and staying asleep. No more racing thoughts or depression. My anxiety is more under control. It does give me cravings for food, but I have controlled it so far. I take 5 mg daily. So far, so good."

For Bipolar Disorder "Zyprexa was effective at sedating me, which prevented the psychotic aspects of my manic episodes from happening very quickly. Since I only had 2 manic episodes in the span of a year, I probably should've stopped taking Zyprexa around 6 months later. Unfortunately, I took it for 5 more years, which was a massive mistake. It caused me to be very drowsy and lethargic. Because I started taking it at age 19, I didn't realize that Zyprexa was the culprit until I stopped taking it. I thought I was just a sleepy person. It had a profoundly negative impact on my life because I took it way longer than I should have."

For Depression "My doctor started me on 5 mg of Zyprexa, and the first 2 days I slept over 14 hours, falling asleep within 20 mins of taking it. By day three, I couldn't sleep at all and went on for days, making me feel out of control, confused, forgetful, pretty much out of it and unable to even have my daughter home with me. I was also very bloated, feeling and looking. On the start of the 7th pill/day, I began swelling to the point of gout, had breathing problems, dry mouth, was oddly emotional, crying a lot, and hurting badly due to the massive swelling and couldn't put on any of my pants. I quit taking the medicine, but the next night it all got worse with the addition of tightening in my chest. I am now having skin irritations on my hands. This medicine is bad news."

For Major Depressive Disorder "For the amount of calmness I got from this drug, I was still physically alert and able. That's more than I can say for most antipsychotics. It helped me sleep, and the following day my anxieties were lessened. I also found weird glimmers of hope in things, that had to be my depression lifting. It's a miracle to me. However, I gained 20 pounds in one month, and the doctor saw that as a reason to get me off the drug. Food had this crazy magnetism about it; it quickly became the most valuable thing on the planet, and I was having cravings for food unlike anything I've ever craved. If you can take the drug without binge eating, congratulations, because it works. Still, most people on this are overweight."

For Bipolar Disorder "I took Zyprexa for 14 years, and it stabilized my psychotic auditory hallucinations of my bipolar I disorder. I was able to function in normal social settings (church, friends, family, marriage and dating, even work) without having to deal with the voices I heard in my head when I was not on the medication. Unfortunately for me, the drug outlived its usefulness in my body's system, right at the 14-year mark. I say 'unfortunate' because I became so used to the drug's effectiveness that I thought it would last me for the rest of my life, but as I look back now, I'm happy to have had the time I did on Zyprexa. The side effects for me were minimal, and I am now stabilized on other meds. Zyprexa also worked well with Depakote."

For Depression "After taking the 2.5 dosage for 4 days, I feel very irritable. I am experiencing crying spells, tiredness, extreme moodiness, and just want to be alone. This medicine was prescribed for a mood disorder that I have been experiencing. I also take other antidepressants. I don't think this is a good mix with other medicines or just not right for me."

For Bipolar Disorder "I was diagnosed with bipolar when I was fifteen years old. I have been on several other medications and stopped taking them when I was eighteen and did not take them for ten years. I developed substance issues with alcohol and drugs to try and self-medicate. I had a lot of personal and social problems. I was put on Zyprexa less than a week ago, and it has quite literally saved my life and my current marriage. I have not experienced any side effects. I take only 5 mg once a day in conjunction with lithium. WOW!"

For Schizophrenia "I've been on Zyprexa at 20 mg for 8 months now. I have schizoaffective bipolar type. Before this, I was on Seroquel 800 mg, and I was still having strong psychosis, mainly paranoid delusions, and I ended up losing my job. I was sleeping 12 hours a day on Seroquel and was getting ready to go back into the workforce, so I wanted something less sedating, so I asked my doctor about Zyprexa, and we switched medications. I was worried about the weight gain, but to my shock, I started losing weight, and after a few months of Zyprexa treatment, I returned back to my 98 lb self. This is because it does not increase my appetite. Overall, my experience with Zyprexa has been very positive. My only complaint is that I still sleep 12 hours a day, but the benefit I receive from the medication makes the sedation worth it. For the first time in my life, I can hold down a job, and life is looking up. I hope Zyprexa really does work for me in the long run, and I'm not changing meds in a few years like I've done in the past."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I started taking Zyprexa when I was hospitalized for suicide. It worked; I felt less suicidal because I felt more dull. Zyprexa is a medication meant for short-term use, and many people end up on it for years and years. It acts as a sexual suppressant, though, which I didn’t notice until I was off of it and suddenly felt more easily turned on. It is very hard to get off it and has some side effects; it took me 1 year to taper it down, and when I finally got off of it, I am now having terrible issues sleeping."

For Insomnia "If you take this medicine, don't expect to be able to stay awake during the day for a while. It takes time to get used to. As far as how good it is at helping you get to sleep? 10/10, I can't imagine propofol would be more effective."

For Bipolar Disorder "I have been on a 5 mg tablet for almost 2 years. I started off on one tablet a night, then cut my dose down to half a tablet, currently taking a 1/4 tablet during the day because I always miss my alarm if I take it at night. I oversleep way too much, always tired, brain feels foggy. I've gained 30 pounds, and it's getting harder to take it off. I'm always hungry and always thirsty. It helps with behaviors. I still flip out, but way less often."

"This is a very toxic, dangerous drug! It has destroyed my health. Caused akathisia, extreme exhaustion, muscle seizures, extreme hair loss, fainting spells, low blood pressure, diarrhea, panic attacks, depression, dry skin, hot sweats, blurred vision, light sensitivity, insomnia, and cognitive issues. Don't take this medication, you will regret it. The maker, Eli Lilly, has been sued many times for damages this drug has caused. It has caused diabetes, heart attacks, pancreatitis, skin rashes, strokes, sudden death, and much, much more. It should be outlawed, but big pharma runs everything! Zyprexa sucks! I would have rated it a -10 if I had the option."

For Bipolar Disorder "I've been on Zyprexa for about three years now. It honestly saved my life. I'm no longer having delusional thoughts or manic episodes. Of course, you have to do your part by taking it when scheduled or else you won't get the full benefits. I gained some weight (healthy weight). I was unbelievably skinny and didn't realize it until this medicine put healthy weight on me. People take medication for all different reasons, so I don't see why taking a medication for your mental health is negative. You don't tell a diabetic to stop taking his insulin, do you? Treat your mental health now and you won't regret it."

For Schizophrenia "I am overall very pleased with Zyprexa for my schizoaffective disorder. My son says he's never seen me so well. I've been on this medication for about 8 months. I've gained about 25 kgs, which I hate, and I need about 10 hours of sleep each night, but at least I am well."

For Bipolar Disorder "I would say this medication has given me my life back, but the reality is it has given me a life I have never had. Prior to starting this drug, all my relationships were failing, I was suicidal, and I was at the end of my rope. After only one 2.5 mg dose, I was a different person. I've only been on it a couple of weeks, but now I am happy, I'm not suicidal, and every relationship in my life has changed for the better. I hope I can take this drug forever."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I've been trying different meds for anxiety for years. I have debilitating anxiety and depression. Zyprexa started out great, my head cleared of the perpetual fog, and I was able to function. Two weeks later, I started becoming a zombie, and my hair started falling out. It's been a month now, I'm now on Seroquel, gaining weight, and my hair is still falling out by the handful. I simply don't know what to do."

For Schizophrenia "I am currently on Zyprexa, and I have been using it for a year. My life completely changed. I have less fear, and I am more relaxed. The only thing, though, is I experienced fatigue whenever I woke up. But so far, the results were great! My doctor did a good job!"

For Schizophrenia "Was hospitalized after a psychotic break, prescribed Zyprexa 20mg. At first, the medicine was okay, my paranoia and schizophrenic thoughts went away. But after about two weeks, I started to notice the side effects. Weight gain was the most obvious, I gained 40 pounds in two months, and sleep-I was sleeping 9-12 hours a night. It was difficult to wake up in the morning. During the day, I felt unmotivated, and at work, I had no energy even after drinking an energy drink. Lowered my dose to 5mg, it didn't make a difference. After about 6 months, I had enough, decided to try another medication. Now I feel much better. Bottom line: Zyprexa was the worst med I've ever tried. If you want to try this med, beware, you will gain weight."

For Bipolar Disorder "I have been taking Zyprexa for 14 years. My new doctor took me off in October, and I was a mess in December. Now, in February, back on for a month, and I feel better. Doc is worried about long-term effects, she wants to try quitting again in 6 months. I don't know, but I'm stable on Zyprexa. I'm fine and a mess without it. I'm bipolar."

It works better if you avoid smoking. I've tried all different antipsychotics, Zyprexa is the only one that seems to work for me."

For Bipolar Disorder "This drug did its job. It stopped any mood swings for the most part, but the biggest downside was that I bloated up and slept heavily. I put on maybe 10-20 kgs whilst on this drug (I was on it for 2 years). Effective nonetheless."
