Naloxegol "I'm 80 years old. The first time I used the whole pill, it gave me diarrhea right after. Three days later, I cut the pill in half, and it worked well, it gave me a bowel movement an hour later. I take half a pill every three days, and a half to two hours later, I have a bowel movement, no problems thereafter, and I have no complaints."

Naloxegol "I am taking 60mg Morphine ER with another 30mg IR as needed. I was doing well with OTC 24.8mg Sennosides with 150mg Docusate at 5:00 PM and getting up 2 hours prior to leaving the house. It was rare for me to not have a BM unless I forgot to take my laxative, in which case I increased my dosage by 33% the next day. I told my pain doctor this in case other patients might wish to try my method. She informed me that while it was cool that I monitored myself closely, general laxatives such as these were meant for occasional rather than daily use and could be addictive. We have great trust towards one another since my philosophy is that a doctor cannot properly treat me if I'm not open with them. She told me about Movantik and that it blocks the opiates' attachment to receptors in the stomach. I had cramps on day 1, but since then no problems as I followed the directions exactly. A perfect 10. Ooh Rah."

Naloxegol "functioning as a PAMORA (peripherally-acting mu-opioid receptor antagonist). Chemically, it is a PEGylated form of naloxone. It does not reverse pain relief primarily due to its inability to cross the blood–brain barrier."

Naloxegol "Paramedic injured on the job in 2003, I've been diagnosed with 8 herniated discs, 2 torn rotator cuffs. MOVANTIC did cause withdrawal from my max dose of 60 mg Oxycodone (15 mg 4x day) MDs and pain management stat due to pain related to my injuries. I will be on opioids the rest of my life. With that said, my constipation has gotten worse, requiring a Fleet for every BM. June 22nd, the Fleet stopped working. So I had to use Magnesium Citrate every day. Went to the GI doctor July 27th, 2021, diagnosed with OIC. I was given a sample of MOVANTIC. I took a pill at lunchtime, and 4 hours later I had a normal soft BM. Two hours later, I had a second BM with no Fleet use. I can't do withdrawal and pain of 10/10 every day, so it will be every few days. I can't pay the $500 a month for an OIC medication, and I can't walk when detoxed (2X), so I suffer for doing my job, as I'm not a drug abuser."

Naloxegol "I've been on Movantik for 6 months now. The medicine worked great the first week or so, but eventually it stopped working altogether. I take Amitiza, Miralax, and an OTC herbal supplement along with Movantik for OIC. When I started PM this summer, I was taking up to 2-3 Percocet 5 mg a day. Now I'm taking up to 4 Percocet 10 mg per day. I was upset at how quickly I had built a tolerance. I thought it may have been the particular brand I was taking, so I switched pharmacies. I found no matter what brand I took, they didn't work very well or last long. A few days ago, I decided to stop Movantik to see if my pain medicine would work better. Boy, was I right! It has been more potent and lasts much longer than usual. Don't waste your $$."

Naloxegol "I've been on oxys for almost a year now and started to have major constipation, tried every laxative too. Some help, but they told me, 'It's not good to be taking laxatives every day due to how hard it is on kidneys.' So she put me on Movantik, and it worked in the first hour, but I have stomach cramps and spasms, and the effects from my medication are not effective even though I took two 15s of oxys. It feels like I'm starting to withdraw a little bit. Praying it gets better tomorrow, but at least I poop my guts out. I should be good for a few days. Good luck, everybody, pray all works out good for you guys. There's just got to be another way."

Naloxegol "Movantik works wonders if you are not taking methadone as I was. You can expect immediate withdrawal. The package insert says 76% of methadone trial pts experienced withdrawal symptoms. I now take morphine, and Movantik works wonders and causes only occasional discomfort. I can name a quadrillion other reasons to get off long-term dolophene. Just sayin'."

"It makes me go, but every so often I get severe stomach cramps, nausea, and feel like I am going to die. I sweat so much, feel dizzy and sick, and the pain is worse than labor. I actually feel like I am going to die. I am sure it must be the drug. But I'm a bit confused as to why it doesn’t happen all the time."

Naloxegol "My gastroenterologist put me on Movantik 1 time a day for OIC. This is day 5, and I've been to the bathroom 3 times. Ugh! I was hoping this was going to be the 'magic bullet' I've been searching for. I've tried EVERY stool softener, laxative out there, from the cheapest to the most expensive, including enemas and suppositories. To my dismay, this isn't working well. When I do have a bowel movement, it's a couple of hard balls. Nothing complete or simple. I STILL have to strain, and lucky to go 3 times a month!! I just had a hysterectomy, and no straining allowed. So, back to searching. I have NOT and will NOT have withdrawal symptoms due to the fact it works in the gut NOT the brain, and it will NOT block your opioid pain meds from working. 51 yo fem."

"I have been on oxycodone 30 mg X6 for 8 years, and the last 2-3 years started having major constipation. It was like passing a boulder. Terribly painful. I received samples of Movantik from my doctor and finally decided to try it once other remedies failed. After I swallowed the Movantik, I started searching for reviews and found all these people being put into immediate withdrawal. I was terrified. About an hour later, I was able to go to the bathroom. It emptied me completely. Months' worth of backup. I felt amazing. There was some cramping, and I was a little flushed, but that’s it. I woke up the next day feeling incredible. I feel awful for those that had a bad experience. I was one of the fortunate ones that it worked for."

Naloxegol "I have been taking Movantik for the last 15 years. First I have 25 mg, and it was so strong. Then cut in half, and it works well. Then suddenly it did not work. Increased to 25 mg, still not working. Increased to 50 mg, still not working. It was so bad. Dr. gave me the gentle laxative, and it works well. It's really scary, suddenly it did not work at all."

"I took this medication on 4 different occasions at the lowest dose possible. It creates diarrhea, then I start feeling like I have the flu. I'm sick all over, excessive drowsiness, and a bit of depression. It's not a good drug for me."

Naloxegol "I have been on opioids for years. Taking oxy and gabapentin. I was taking 3600 mg a day of gabapentin and presently about 40 mg a day of OXY. Constipation would last 7 to 9 days and would only be slightly relieved using Dulcolax. I took my first dose and in about an hour I had a bowel movement. Within four hours, I had a total of two. So far the results have been outstanding. This is only after the very first dose. I have been taking a stool softener at night and also using MiraLAX each morning. This may be why I experienced a faster result? So far, so good! I truly hope that others find relief. This has been a huge obstacle for me. Currently working on weaning off both medications. I’ve been told I was extremely overmedicated for years by my doctors. Please, question what it is that you’re being prescribed. It took me years to try to get somebody to sit down and review these meds with me. Keep fighting and keep searching for answers. Best wishes."

"I ended up with severe constipation after two weeks of being on this medication, resulting in hospitalization. Need two enemas and a further 9 days on other laxatives before it cleared my bowel. I was in a lot of pain. Following that, I have now got severe diarrhea and stomach pains. I have stopped taking it and am waiting for further advice from my gastro doctor."
