Movantik (naloxegol) for Constipation, Drug Induced: "Please, please read this before trying any prescription for chronic constipation due to opioid use. Due to a back injury, I have been taking opioids for over 10 years. I had chronic constipation with no relief with anything. Then I read another person's experience with magnesium. The type of magnesium you take is important. You want to take one that has low absorption, so that it will pass right through. I went from having a bowel movement once a week or week and a half to having one daily. I take 1-250mg magnesium oxide and 1 docusate sodium (non-stimulant stool softener) twice a day (same dosage for the last 9 years). You can find these over-the-counter in any drugstore. Unfortunately, a physician won't tell you this."

Movantik (naloxegol) for Constipation, Drug Induced: "I've been taking opiate medication for approximately 3 yrs for chronic back pain from an injury/automobile accident my Dr gave me a few sample packs and instructed me #1 25mg tablet of Movantik daily on the second day which was in my normal 4-5 day period so I can't say that it was induced from taking the Movantik anyhow I continued taking it for another 6 days and nothing at all so I felt it was definitely time to go back on the Amitiza before I stopped all together other than I didn't feel any other symptoms."

Movantik (naloxegol) for Constipation, Drug Induced: "Wow this drug gets your GI tract moving. Daily opioid user for chronic pain and constipation was becoming such a problem, I gave in and got some samples from my Dr. 2 hours later relief! THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS HERE claiming pain and cramping.... yes after immobilizing your bowels with opioids for extended periods giving them a kick in the pants isn't going to feel good (but it will clean you out)"

Movantik (naloxegol) for Constipation, Drug Induced: "I started taking movantik about 3 to 4 months ago. At first it seemed to work great. Then as weeks went by I noticed that it did not seem to work as well or at all. I started taking the drug in the morning and then late at night and usually the second dose would work. Then I noticed something strange where I would feel really sick especially during the daytime. And I finally figured it out and realized it is the movantik causing withdrawal symptoms. Not like complete withdrawal because I am on Fentanyl patches. But enough of a withdrawal feeling where I can not function at work. My recommendation is to not take this drug more than twice a week because it loses its potency. And only take this drug at night so you don't have withdrawal symptoms"

Movantik (naloxegol) for Constipation, Drug Induced: "There are coupons for Movantik but you can't use them if you are on Medicare or if you don't have insurance. This is first coupon I have seen that you can't bypass your insurance (because your insurance doesn't cover it or you need p/a) and just pay cash. My doctor wants me to try this medication. I have been taking Tramadol which is a synthetic narcotic for chronic pain. I am allergic to all opoids and have major sensitivities to many other medications. After reading the reviews I think I will keep working with buffered Vitamin C crystals and Magnesium Citrate capsules. I had stopped taking all the supplements doctors had me on when the major constipation started but started working w/ these since they cause diarrhea. Prune juice too"

Movantik (naloxegol) for Constipation, Drug Induced: "I tried Movantik and it worked very quick but made my stool pure blood. I had heard about that side effect before but never experienced it until then. It scared the hell out of me. I haven't taken it since."

Movantik (naloxegol) for Constipation, Drug Induced: "Like many people who have commented, I have been on heavy dose of opiates for 20 years with severe constipation. Dr. recommended Movantik and I took it exactly as directed, and I had horrible side effects, terrible cramping, diarrhea, sweating, hot flashes and essentially the misery of full blown withdrawal. I have a huge bottle of Movantik, and I plan to let that bottle collect dust forever. Ill try everything under the sun before I turn to that again."

Movantik (naloxegol) for Constipation, Drug Induced: "I've been a chronic pain patient for 13 years. I currently take 128 mgs of Exalgo ER daily and 1-2, 8mg Dilaudid IR PRN no more than 6 tabs per day. I'm very familiar with constipation. When offered movantik 25mg every morning, I happily took it and within a day I was going easily but with a cramp pain. After a few more days, my guts started killing me so I stopped taking movantik. 11 days later severe constipation returns. Doc and I think since I've such a high tolerance my gut experienced physical withdrawal so today starting on ~8mg (~1/3 of 25mg tab) every 2-3 days. Anyone else taking Movantik similarly?"

Movantik (naloxegol) for Constipation, Drug Induced: "This is crazy, today is my 4th day in a row to take movantik and no effects. On the first day I went to the bathroom and nothing since. No pain, no poop, no nothing! Weird huh. But I will tell you AFTER I had taken my first dose I started doing some reading on the med and OMGOSH I read some horror stories so immediately I prayed that the med would have no bad effect on me and It has not had one single pain or bad effect on me and its the fourth day so think all is good And although I've only pooped one time my bloating had subsided greatly, ooooh and bloating was a HUGE issue for me. I will update in a week or so. "

Movantik (naloxegol) for Constipation, Drug Induced: "First dose worked great. Then comes horrible pain. I only use in dire straits when it's been 5 days and nothing else works. Sometime it takes days for Movantik to even kick in. That's what made me find this board, it's been 3 days this time and it hasn't worked, but I haven't had any stomach pain. My pain experience doesn't sound as bad as some of yours. Try heating pad on stomach. Or my joke, just stay full of poop! It feels better!"

Movantik (naloxegol) for Constipation, Drug Induced: "This med delivered exactly what it was made to do. I found it very effective and extremely easy on my body with no side effects whatsoever. I highly recommend it for anyone who has been on opioids for as long as I have, which is a very long time."

Movantik (naloxegol) for Constipation, Drug Induced: "I've been taking opioids for back pain for almost a year so I've been dealing with constipation for about the same length of time. I took Movantik last night for the first time and within an hour I had racing heart, shortness of breath, throbbing headache. Now 20 hours later I'm so irritable I could spit and can hardly think straight. 24 hours of anxiety and cramps and nausea! I'm so grateful to see these reviews because I don't feel alone and crazy."

Movantik (naloxegol) for Constipation, Drug Induced: "Movantik worked like a charm for me - when used correctly, meaning no sooner than 2 hours after your last meal or 1 hour before your FIRST meal of the day. I suffer from pain due to nerve damage in lower back (S1 nerve root) after multiple surgeries and take oxy and percocet daily. When I did not follow that very simple schedule (by accident), ie, took it too close to my last meal, I had horrible bloating, pain, cramping and terrible diarreah. So I would GUESS that many of the negative reviews on here MAY be b/c of misuse."

Movantik (naloxegol) for Constipation, Drug Induced: "Been on opioids for a few years. Taking Miralax for constipation. Dr asked this month how my constipation was going. When I mentioned going twice a week she seemed to think that wasn't good so have me samples of movantik 25mg. Took first time before dinner and it worked great! Thought I would just take when feeling constipation. A few days later took a morning dose. I used the bathroom fine but afterwards Oh the Pain! The worst stabbing lower intestine pain I've ever felt. It came in waves for hours. Bent over thinking of going to the ER. I've been impacted before and had to go to the ER. So embrassing but would choose that over mavantix every time!"

Movantik (naloxegol) for Constipation, Drug Induced: "It's a complete contradiction, on one hand it'll make you go for sure, till it's running down your legs in the middle of the night. On the other hand it only works as a fast acting medication. So you get to go thru the cramping, sweating, irritation, withdrawals and panic every time you want to go. I took my second pill a few weeks ago and posted the effects here. I haven't taken anymore but am still having all of these side effects every time I have to go.???? I thought I would be over all this by now. I'm miserable along with sleeping legs....."

Movantik (naloxegol) for Constipation, Drug Induced: "I have full body RSD. (CRPS). I started taking opiates for the first time, 10mg of Methadone 2x's a day since Oct of 2015. Linzess high dose never really worked. I tried Movantik and it worked the first day. After that, horrific abdominal pain and cramping. Almost couldn't drive when it hit me when I went to Vote here in Florida. This drug is garbage. Expensive garbage. Try it, but be careful. Don't get your hopes up."

Movantik (naloxegol) for Constipation, Drug Induced: "Within one hour of my first ever does (25 mg), I was in agony. Sure, I pooped but then, I kept on and for hours (total four). In that entire time, I had the most severe intestinal pain I've EVER had! Bent over, screaming, clutching a pillow hard against my gut, I was repeatedly having watery brown smelly feces fill the adult diaper and run down my legs!! Am now in hour four, it's less than it was. Comes in waves. Is there no antidote? No way to make it STOP???? The pain is making me short of breath. My neck and lower back muscles are like tightened ropes. WHEN WILL THIS END???"

Movantik (naloxegol) for Constipation, Chronic: "I have taken Movantik less than a week and it has not worked for me. I have severe abdominal cramps, nausea, bloating, flatulence, and really bad constipation. I was hoping Movantik would work as well as Amitizia did. Do not like this medication and will discontinue it!"

Movantik (naloxegol) for Constipation, Drug Induced: "OMG!!!! This is horrible!!! The cramps n bloating are the worst I've ever had!!! I suffer from multiple pain issues, fibromyalgia, severe neck and back pain with shooting pins and needles with burning down my legs. Due to a failed back surgery. I'll take that pain over the pain I have from Movantik. I have been back and fourth from the bathroom and sat on the pot till both of my legs are numb. Nothing's moving but I'm having such bad cramps I can't move."

Movantik (naloxegol) for Constipation, Drug Induced: "My experience is the product works extremely quickly. If you have been taking opioids for an extended period of time and take this product, you will have multiple bowel movements approx an hour after the first dose. I also suspect this fast acting medicine wains after a few hours. More information should be given, specifically if cutting the 25mg tablet in half is an acceptable procedure for "reducing" the dosage to 12.5mg. Finally, I noticed my urine developed an offensive odor after starting Movantik, not sure if anyone else experienced this..."

Movantik (naloxegol) for Constipation, Drug Induced: "Started taking Movantik 25 my. Was very skeptical about it after reading reviews. I have been on opiate for 10 yrs. for chronic back pain. I spoke with Dr. and he said I could use zofran and bentyl if needed. Took first dose waiting for the worse. I had bm within 2 hrs. of taking medicine. Normal side effects first day. 3Rd day was rough nausea, cramps and fatigue. Continued side effects lasted about 2 wks. Not unbearable. Started having 2 bm's a week. So much better then every 14+ days. And then only with major colonoscopy cleansing. I experienced irritability mood swings. Dr. had me stop and switch to Amitiza. That was awful didn't help made symptoms of OIC return with vengeance went back to Monvantik."

Movantik (naloxegol) for Constipation, Drug Induced: "Been taking Movantik 25mg for a year due to opioids. After taking it, within 10 minutes the gas starts. I have an abdominal hernia and get a painful fist size knot that I have to push on to get it moving. This drug is definitely not a sure thing. I still have to take flax oil capsules or stool softeners and sometimes even that doesn't help. I do not go without having a movement for more than two days and then I start with the suppositories and magnesium citrate. Before I got Rx for this drug I had constipation so bad I went to ER twice and that was the WORST enema experience. I thought I was going to die from my pain and the sweating and chills and trying to push. Eating apples daily helps when I can afford them!"

Movantik (naloxegol) for Constipation, Drug Induced: "Talk about induced anxiety!!! I have NEVER felt so absolutely horrific as I did when using this medication. My doctor prescribed it one week after shoulder surgery when I was having severe stomach problems and constipation. I had already stopped taking percocet when I started taking it. And when I still wasn't pooping.....you guessed it, Doctor prescribed ADDITIONAL dosage! I was crying, in a state of panic, unable to sleep---I NEVER EVER want to feel this way again. After reading up on it, you are not supposed to take Movantik if you are NOT TAKING OPIODS!!!! Thank you for the medically induced anxiety horror show."

Movantik (naloxegol) for Constipation, Drug Induced: "Awful stomach pain that lasted hours. Very small amount of diarrhea. Not worth the pain. I threw the medication away it was that bad. I didn't want to be tempted to take it again. Its really that bad. I wouldn't even bother halving the 25mg tablet. Also the fact that it seems to suck the options out of your body I'm in more pain that before unfortunately I had taken my morphine before this drug. Stay away from it terrible medication."

Movantik (naloxegol) for Constipation, Drug Induced: "Do not take this medication!!! 30 Min after i took it. I had the worst stomach cramps and pains I have ever encountered. Finally after I got everything out I started feeling withdrawal symptoms. I tried to take my Methadone dose so the withdrawal would go away but it didn't help. Im sitting here right now wondering how long this shit stays in my system and thinking about how bad I want to curse my Dr. out. I just wanted to crap not go into full withdrawal. WTF"
