For Constipation, Drug Induced "My doctor gave me this because I’m on high doses of opioids for Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) or Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD) and spinal arachnoiditis. This was horrible. I was given trial packs first. 25 mg I took, then so much pain in my belly I could not move. I was curled in the fetal position contemplating calling an ambulance. Horrific pain and deep bone pain in both my legs, far worse than my CRPS pain, plus nauseous, chills, I thought I was dying. Horrible. Threw them in the trash."

For Constipation, Drug Induced "Worst reaction to a drug I ever had. Horrible 24 hrs after taking the first 25 mg sample. Severe stomach ache, bloating, and cramping. Severe, extreme dizziness...and the drug blocked my morphine and gave me horrible opioid withdrawal effects. I was close to going to the ER but kept telling myself it would be over soon. It didn't happen for 30 hrs. Felt like passing out...I was a mess. I take a lot of meds for chronic Lyme, fibro, and chronic CRPS pain. I would never take this again. What has helped me is the OTC diet pill ALLI, which blocks fat from absorbing in the stomach, and Linzess. The Movantik was a horrible experience for me and will never take again...opioid withdrawal symptoms are awful."

For Constipation, Drug Induced "I've tried every laxative (OTC and prescription) for my Suboxone-induced constipation, and while it does cause withdrawal and some pain, it actually works without me needing to stay home all day so I can be near a toilet. I will say that it seems to weaken the effects of the Suboxone."

For Constipation, Drug Induced "Used opioids for years, went on methadone and Movantik, and worked within hours after not going for a week at a time, almost regularly. Now go every day and have lost 10 pounds to boot! So happy this drug exists. I had no pain at first, a little intestinal cramping moving out of my system. After a few days, regular, no cramping at all, miracle fix for constipation for people who have to regularly take pain meds!"

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "This Movantik is so awful I believe it caused me to have my intestines tear, caused me to have emergency surgery and a foot of my intestines removed. I also had to wear a colostomy bag for seven months, thankfully, I was able to have the reversal, but I would never use this again. I use stool softeners and MiraLAX. When I did use this drug, it caused me to have horrible stomach cramps, sweats, nausea, and vomiting. I hope they allow this to be posted."

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "The Movantik did help with opioid-induced constipation, however, the withdrawals that it gave me are just horrible. Taking half 3 hours before eating and on a completely empty stomach helped. However, I cannot handle withdrawals. I've been on opioids for 10 years due to hemochromatosis, which was never diagnosed until my sixties. I think I'll try some of the other brands and see if they're any different. But it did produce a complete clean-out within 45 minutes."

For Constipation, Drug Induced "9-17-2015 The other reviews compel me to expand my comments. All Movantik does is land on the receptors in your stomach. These receptors are the ones opioids normally land on, which makes it difficult to have a movement. I still have responsibility for what I eat and for taking stool softeners and Senna tablets, so my stool is soft. Otherwise, I would be experiencing possible blockages. It has now been 3 weeks, and it works for me. But you have to pay attention. Also, I am not a doctor. This is just my experience."

For Constipation, Drug Induced "I have full body RSD (CRPS). I started taking opiates for the first time, 10 mg of Methadone 2x a day since October of 2015. Linzess high dose never really worked. I tried Movantik, and it worked the first day. After that, horrific abdominal pain and cramping. Almost couldn't drive when it hit me when I went to vote here in Florida. This drug is garbage. Expensive garbage. Try it, but be careful. Don't get your hopes up."

For Constipation, Drug Induced "I started using Movantik for the first time on New Year's Day. I read all I could about the drug and decided to take it. After about 15-20 minutes, I experienced some very minor abdominal discomfort. After about another 15 minutes, I had the feeling I had to make a bowel movement. I was amazed the medication worked so well and quickly. I had my bowel movement. I had to make another smaller bowel movement hours later that same day. So far, the first day of using this medication was a success."

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "I just got a script from my doctor for Movantik. I have been researching its side effects and have literally sat and read every one of these comments about this drug. Now I am scared to take it. What I have noticed while reading and investigating this drug is that it seems to work fine on people who are on oxycodone, oxycontin, etc. But it seems to give people who are on methadone a horrible experience. It sounds as if when Movantik is used with methadone, it causes reciprocated withdrawals. I have had an experience with reciprocated withdrawals, and it was the most antagonizing experience ever. So I think I'll pass on this. Thank you all for commenting on your experience with this drug. It has definitely helped me in my decision to not even try it."

For Constipation, Drug Induced "This drug has been amazing for me over the past week that I've been taking it. My experience does not match the other reviews here in any way. I take Movantik in the early morning, and a few hours later I have a bowel movement - a normal bowel movement, not diarrhea. It's been very good for me."

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "I have been dealing with chronic pain for over 5 years, in which I've had to take opioids on and off. After 3 failed surgeries in an attempt to relieve my pain, I decided to see a pain management doctor who has put me on a daily regimen of opiates. I've tried Amitiza, Linzess, and of course fiber, Miralax, laxatives, and enemas. None of these have worked like Movantik. It's been truly a miracle drug. I take it first thing in the morning with my other meds and coffee, but I don't eat until an hour later, as the directions say, and it works every time. I've never had diarrhea, horrible stomach cramps, nausea, etc. It just makes me have a large, normal, and complete BM in the morning, and that's it. It's been a life saver for me."

For Constipation, Drug Induced "This medication literally saved my husband's life. He has been on OxyContin for 16 years. He's tried everything! He truly thought he'd have a heart attack from pushing. The doctor gave him samples of Movantik, and 30 minutes later, a BM. No problem. Been the same story for over a month. I saw so many negative reviews, and I'm so sorry this didn't work for you... I hope you find the one thing that does!"

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "I can't believe Movantik has such terrible reviews. It's because of these reviews that I was scared to try it for 2 months after I got it. Then one day, I decided to try it for myself. This medicine is wonderful! I would have given it a 10, but you do get slight cramping and gas. In my opinion, the benefits outweigh the cramps and gas."

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "I will never take Movantik again. It's one of the worst medicines I've ever been prescribed, and that's saying something. Movantik sent instantly into opioid withdrawal. Can't overcome it until Movantik is out of your system. Absolutely no warning from the prescribing doctor. She didn't even check with my pain management doctor of 10 years."

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "This can be an extremely dangerous drug. My stomach still isn't back to normal 10 days later, and I wasn't terribly constipated. I take magnesium, which can be uncomfortable. This was the worst stomach pain imaginable. I didn't call 911 because I knew that it would work itself out eventually, and what could they do anyway? This was not withdrawal symptoms. I can see someone overdose from pain medication trying to cope with the Movantik-induced pain. I'm sure you can get a perforated stomach lining from the side effects. My stomach feels raw."

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "I am never taking Movantik again. I'm sitting here with a heating pad and the air conditioning on, with a huge blanket on me, and let me tell you it gave me the worst excruciating pain in my stomach. I myself have gone to the ER for lesser pain as well. This is out-of-this-world kind of pain, I thought I was going to throw my dose up. I almost puked on the nurse, lol. I held that medicine down, but I seriously wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy."

For Constipation, Chronic "This stuff is horrible! I took 1 dose, 25 mg, within 30-40 minutes, I started getting a really gassy stomach, really distended. Then the abdominal pain and cramping started. It was the worst thing I have ever endured. I almost went to the hospital, it was so incredibly bad. Sweating, yawning, explosive diarrhea. After 24 hours, the cramping and extreme pain have subsided significantly but still have a little. By 36 hours, my stomach feels really bloated, but most of the other side effects have subsided. Thank God! I tell you, that was the WORST experience I have ever endured. No one should take this toxic poison."

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "I previously wrote a review of Movantik, and I gave it a good rating because it did give me a bowel movement every day or every other day. It took about two months for it to get me to that point. So stick with it if you can. I had a temporary lapse in instance for two months, and my doctor gave me samples of Relistor because she didn't have Movantik, and she “preferred” Relistor anyway. It did absolutely nothing for me. I ended up constipated again and even worse. My stomach had terrible cramps, and I ended up having blood coming out. My insurance kicked back in, thankfully, and I am back on Movantik. Please give it a chance before giving up on it! It took about two months before it got me moving every day or every other day. My stools are still hard, but I am passing them easily now without pain or struggling!"

For Constipation, Drug Induced "My pain management doc has me on time-release morphine for spinal injuries because other modalities have not worked. Of course, I have severe constipation. Was given samples of Movantik. I took one pill and within one half hour, had severe cramping, and within one hour, total diarrhea. Also had some withdrawal symptoms. I waited a few days, became constipated again, and thought I would try it again. Same effect again except this time, I am three days out from taking the Movantik, and I am still experiencing withdrawal symptoms... nervousness, runny nose, anxiety, headache, and nausea. I have reported the adverse reactions to my doc and will be reporting them to the FDA as well. I am a 67-year-old male."

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "Not a doctor... long-term opioid use... on Movantik for over 18 months. Very dangerous RX! Start at smallest dose possible - my doctor gave me OK to break in half even though pills are not scored. Recommend Philips Fiber gummies only & beware of stool softeners, if mismanaged they can lead to impaction. So always take pills with plenty of water - plain water! After a year of use, I started to have periods of very high blood pressure, irregular heartbeat, abdominal pressure/tightness, stomach muscle spasms so severe I was taken to the ER - where - after staring at me like I was on a bad drug trip - hooked me up to IV which only made things much worse. Later, after some yelling... a bright nurse injected me with Ativan. Not sure why, but within 5 minutes everything subsided. I felt completely normal, maybe a little sleepy. The docs said, well, we got nothing so you might as well go home then see a regular doctor. Turns out Movantik is very dangerous! Use at your own risk."

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "After over 15 years of pain meds. Constipation is also a problem. This medication, initially on a 25 mg dose, was too much. It did work, but with issues like others mentioned. After experimenting, I found for me that initially it was too high a dosage. So, what some people might try, as I did, reduce the dosage to about 6mg. I break it into quarters and take small pieces and actually chew small amounts a couple of times a day. If it doesn't work that afternoon, I use small amounts the following day. By the time I use a quarter to half a pill, it works without all the pain, withdrawal, almost no negative effects. The exception being passing very hard stool. I also found a nighttime dose of Miralax every couple of days helps soften passage. I think for many proper smaller doses will work and give relief. Also, try chewing very small doses. It's not bitter tasting. I'm not sure anyone should try 25 mg to start. I talked to my doctor, told him that dose was horrible. I'm glad I didn't give up. Now it helps without side effects."

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "Movantik works great for my opiate-induced constipation. I'm so glad I tried it. I take it first thing in the morning, and within an hour, I go. I was worried about opiate withdrawal, but I didn't have issues with that. I wait an hour to take my opiate medication just to be safe, and my pain meds still work well too."

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "My doctor gave me some samples of Movantik, as well as an Rx for it. Took the first pill on an empty stomach one hour before a meal, as directed. Cramps started about an hour after taking it. Cramps increased in intensity over the next few hours until I was experiencing the worst stomach pains of my life. I've actually gone to the ER for stomach pain less severe than this. Initial normal bowel movement quickly turned into total diarrhea (with the most horrible odor imaginable). Additional side effects included intense nausea and just an overall feeling of being very sick. These symptoms continued for an agonizing 8 to 10 hours. I reported the side effects to my doctor, and he advised against taking any more of it. This drug is a nightmare."

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "After 5 years of severe constipation, I bought Movantik for $200 (my insurance might pay back and cover future costs if approved), and I took it. The first day I had a small, kind of wet BM. The next day I took it, I had a normal bowel movement, and it does not make me panicky or whatever, except I get some abdominal pain and bloating that is mild and doesn't last long. I would give it 10/10 if it, as I hoped, flushed my colon out, but this is still good. And it doesn't even push me to poop, so if I was in a place with no toilet, I could easily hold it."
