Moxifloxacin for Bronchitis "This is very strong medication. I came from abroad with a bronchial infection and had to see my doctor. Cephalexin and Clarithromycin prescribed to me abroad by doctors apparently could not suppress the infection, and my doctor put me on Avelox on a 7-day course. I finished the course with great reluctance yesterday. It did relieve the symptoms to a great degree, but the side effects have been severe. I have severe loss of appetite, continue to be nauseous, lethargic, experience loss of energy, and became dizzy. I had extremely uncomfortable palpitations, tightness, and pain in the chest throughout the course and several sleepless nights. I have lost nearly 5 pounds over the seven days."

Moxifloxacin for Pneumonia "Am on day six of a 10-day course for pneumonia. Had an injectable at the doctor's office and then oral meds. Noticed major improvement in coughing and wheezing in 48 hours. Nearly all pneumonia symptoms now abated. Have had major side effects. No appetite, severe dizziness, and confusion (just trying to answer work emails has been a challenge). I've also experienced constipation and very bad acid reflux. Overall, very effective, but I'm pretty incapacitated by the side effects."

Moxifloxacin for Pneumonia "I was diagnosed with pneumonia after a few days of taking amoxicillin because of being misdiagnosed with acute bronchitis. Before I started taking the Avelox, I had a fever of 103, a pretty bad headache, and was super tired and didn't want to do anything. My doctor told me the Avelox would make me even more tired. For the first 2 days it did, but my fever also broke and my headache went away. I also started coughing up more and more phlegm. By the 3rd day, I started feeling better but still had a cough and was just a bit tired. It seems I missed out on some of the side effects, but I did experience a bit of dizziness in the beginning and a loss of appetite. I'm on day 5 of my 8-day dosage. Going back to the doctor Thursday morning."

Moxifloxacin for Pneumonia "I am on a 14-day course of Avelox for pneumonia. Apparently, it was quite well spread over both lungs. The first course of antibiotics made no difference. Ended up in emergency, where they did a CT scan, and I was given 2 lots of antibiotics via a drip. Was sent home with Avelox, which has improved things greatly. The side effects are I am very tired, no appetite! This medication is well worth the side effects. A very frightening experience!"

Moxifloxacin for Sinusitis "I was put on Avelox for a horrible sinus infection and chest congestion. My doctor never mentioned any of the possible side effects. Within an hour of taking the first dose, I became very tired, weak, and I had heart palpitations, and I had overwhelming anxiety. I am now on day 5, and the side effects have only progressed. The joint pain and muscle cramping, heart fluttering, fatigue, muscle weakness, nausea, blurred vision, loss of appetite, and tremors are enough to scare anyone. It has helped my congestion and sinus infection, but there are other antibiotics that are just as good and so much safer."

Moxifloxacin for Bacterial Infection "Taken to address a long-standing prostate infection. On the 4th day of a 20-day course (400 mg once daily). Side effects include: slight to moderate confusion and vertigo. Slight to moderate tinnitus, loss of appetite, pasty mouth, thirst, mild tendonitis in the left knee. I'm not my positive, engaging self, and it's affecting my teaching (high school chemistry). I drive a motorcycle, so the vertigo and confusion symptoms are worrisome. I can deal with the above side effects provided they do not worsen. Prostatitis seems better, but it's too early for any conclusions in that regard. I'm continuing with the treatment."

For Pneumonia "I was suffering symptoms from sinusitis (a few months already) and uncontrollable coughing, couldn't breathe. Doc put me on amoxicillin, it didn't even touch my symptoms. Doc took an x-ray, it turns out I have pneumonia. She prescribed a 400 mg/10 day course. I could definitely feel the medicine working its way into my body. Crazy feeling! Anyway, I slept for about three days straight. I was exhausted from feeling so crappy. Just noticing on day 5, my sinuses are clearer, my ear is clear, and the coughing is more productive. The only side effects I have really noticed are tightening in my calf muscles, almost restless legs, and a bit of constipation. Oh, I also had a loss of appetite, but I was okay with it. Not sure if I'll be all better by the end of treatment, but so far, so good. Pleased with the results."

For Bacterial Infection "An ENT prescribed me Moxiget 400 mg (Moxifloxacin) after I got a sore throat and fever. This medicine started giving me stomach cramps the moment I took the very first tablet. It also caused severe headaches, dizziness, gas formation, nausea, and loss of appetite. Although my mother and I only took it for 5 days, it caused these similar reactions in both of us. This is the most pathetic medicine ever."

For Bacterial Infection "Had a flu and then resulting bronchitis, laryngitis, and 2 ear infections. Was a total mess. Doc gave me these pills, and felt a little better the next day, and it's day 3 and improving lots. I did have some rapid heart rate (not too serious) and lack of sleep/appetite. Then again, that might be from the flu on the tail end. So happy I am feeling better."

For Pneumonia "I had pneumonia and was given a 5-day treatment of Zithromax, which didn't help, followed by a week of Biaxin, which again didn't help. After the second day of Avelox, I felt a twinge in the tendon of my thumb that I put down to an injury a couple of weeks prior-but I have since read could be a side effect. I have had zero appetite and been forcing myself to eat-no nausea, just no appetite, which is probably a good thing for me. Minor issues with concentration-trying to avoid driving, but since I don't feel well enough to go out yet (just took the 6th dose of 10), it is not really an issue. The symptoms of the pneumonia/bronchitis are improved when I wake up, but still present when I get into daily activities."

For Bronchitis "My husband was prescribed this medication, moxifloxacin, for bronchitis on October 9. After 5 days, he actually felt much worse. His specialist continued this medication for a further 9 days. His condition worsened to the point that he had no appetite, was very weak, slept a lot, lost weight, his urine darkened, and his skin turned yellow. He didn’t take the last pill, and an ambulance took him to the hospital. The next day, he died in the hospital."
