For Bacterial Infection "I have mycoplasma genitalium. I’ve had it for nearly a year now. Was given other antibiotics before, but they were not effective, so now I’m on a ten-day course with moxifloxacin. I was ridiculously scared to take the tablets after reading into it so much and seeing the possible dangerous side effects, but decided I would do whatever it takes to get better. 4/10 days, I’ve had dizziness and fatigue, muscle ache, headaches that come and go, a little bit of tingling here and there in the arm, have also found myself getting very agitated and have been quite emotional. It’s not the easiest course to go through, but things seem to be clearing up."

Moxifloxacin for Bacterial Infection "Had a pretty nasty nasal infection with a rare bacteria. This was the 3rd round of antibiotics (the first two were not Avelox!). Took Avelox for 7 days. It is a very strong antibiotic, but it did the trick for me. Here's my advice: WHEN TO TAKE IT: Take it at night, this helps with some of the side effects (I got slightly dizzy, zoned out, and sleepy). BOWEL ISSUES: Drink a lot of mint tea (to avoid diarrhea). I drank nearly 1 liter a day and had close to no problems. Take a strong probiotic (or drink yogurt! natural, no sugar or flavors) to avoid other possible problems after finishing the antibiotic. I took double the normal dosage of probiotic just to be on the safe side. If female: take some antifungal ovules to avoid candida after finishing antibiotics (e.g., Canesten). STOMACH ISSUES: Take PPI to protect your stomach (omeprazole, esomeprazole, Nexium, whatever is prescribed by the doctor). Always take the antibiotic 30 minutes after dinner to avoid stomach pain. Wishing you all the best!"

Moxifloxacin for Sinusitis "The first three days on Avelox were difficult. It made me feel disoriented, dizzy, and sleepy. I had to rearrange my days to accommodate a 2-hour nap every time I took it. I got used to the medicine by day 4...so give it time. It cleared up my sinus and double ear infection, which persisted after full courses of both Augmentin and Bactrim. Also, I did not feel better until about 4-5 days on the medicine, so don't feel discouraged if you don't feel great right away."

Moxifloxacin for Bronchitis "This is very strong medication. I came from abroad with a bronchial infection and had to see my doctor. Cephalexin and Clarithromycin prescribed to me abroad by doctors apparently could not suppress the infection, and my doctor put me on Avelox on a 7-day course. I finished the course with great reluctance yesterday. It did relieve the symptoms to a great degree, but the side effects have been severe. I have severe loss of appetite, continue to be nauseous, lethargic, experience loss of energy, and became dizzy. I had extremely uncomfortable palpitations, tightness, and pain in the chest throughout the course and several sleepless nights. I have lost nearly 5 pounds over the seven days."

Moxifloxacin for Bacterial Infection "I can't wait until tomorrow. I took my last Avelox today, and unfortunately, it took me this long to figure out it was making me feel so sick. Nervous, shaky, nauseous, and my whole body is fatigued. I can't concentrate on my work and feel dizzy."

For Bacterial Infection "Worst medication. Ruined me. Had 8 days of antibiotics, moxifloxacin, for a chest infection. I started to feel dizzy, and had heart palpitations, pain, tingling in my legs and arm, headaches, felt lightheaded, and losing balance. I also found it hard to sleep, felt anxious and nervous, and paranoid. Some weird feelings. Been off the medication for 5 days and still feel side effects. Might even be for life. Hope not."

Moxifloxacin for Sinusitis "I have taken Avelox on several occasions for sinusitis and bronchitis, and within two doses, I always feel 10 times better! I am aware that dizziness and nausea can be side effects, but since I have taken it before bed, this has never been an issue. I am surprised at the number of people who try to take it during the day - take it at night and you will tolerate it just fine."

Moxifloxacin for Pneumonia "Am on day six of a 10-day course for pneumonia. Had an injectable at the doctor's office and then oral meds. Noticed major improvement in coughing and wheezing in 48 hours. Nearly all pneumonia symptoms now abated. Have had major side effects. No appetite, severe dizziness, and confusion (just trying to answer work emails has been a challenge). I've also experienced constipation and very bad acid reflux. Overall, very effective, but I'm pretty incapacitated by the side effects."

Moxifloxacin for Sinusitis "I took a 10-day dose 1 year ago for a sinus infection, and only remember feeling much better in a short time. Since I was already miserable, I don't remember having any adverse reactions. Recently, I got a 7-day dose for another sinus infection and an ear infection, and I felt good on days 3 and 4 with only mild nausea and dizziness. Taking it on a full stomach helped. I started to feel poor on day 5 and developed a terrible headache that lasted 2 days. By day 7, I developed severe fatigue, muscle, tendon, and joint pain. I agree with other reviews, in that this is a very effective medicine, but the side effects can be severe. I am glad to hear that these go away in a few days."

Moxifloxacin for Pneumonia "I'm on day 4 (of 10) of Avelox for my recent bad pneumonia. I find I get nausea, slight weakness, and dizziness for about 4 hours after my dose. I can deal with it, but it gets annoying after the first few hours. Overall, it seems to be making my lungs better."

Moxifloxacin for Pneumonia "I was diagnosed with pneumonia after a few days of taking amoxicillin because of being misdiagnosed with acute bronchitis. Before I started taking the Avelox, I had a fever of 103, a pretty bad headache, and was super tired and didn't want to do anything. My doctor told me the Avelox would make me even more tired. For the first 2 days it did, but my fever also broke and my headache went away. I also started coughing up more and more phlegm. By the 3rd day, I started feeling better but still had a cough and was just a bit tired. It seems I missed out on some of the side effects, but I did experience a bit of dizziness in the beginning and a loss of appetite. I'm on day 5 of my 8-day dosage. Going back to the doctor Thursday morning."

For Bacterial Infection "I took a 7-day cycle of moxifloxacin for an infection and had the worst side effects: extremely dizzy, agitated, tingling hands, tensed fingers, confused, severe panic attacks, depression, headaches, and just all around in a fog. I’ve been off the medication for a week, and I’m still experiencing these side effects. It’s horrible!"

Moxifloxacin for Pneumonia "Felt it start to open my lungs after the first dose. Oh, but how dizzy and nauseated I felt. Side effects wear down towards the end of the day (about 10 pm... I take the pill at about 9 am). Powerful medicine, QUICK results, pretty strong side effects."

Moxifloxacin for Bacterial Infection "I did get a bit dizzy, so I would take this at bedtime, and did at first get a faster heartbeat, but may have been because I read all the crazy side effects online. This medicine did work for me. Had an awful case of tonsillitis. Be sure to read the package and how other meds (even vitamins) you may be taking can alter the effects and increase chances of side effects."

Moxifloxacin for Sinusitis "Very powerful med. Doc prescribed for my sinus infection. Major dizziness within half an hour of taking the meds. It stays for about 5 hours. Congestion does clear up really fast. However, I took it at night for the first dose and could not sleep the whole night. The 2nd day till today (5th), I took them after lunch and rested. The dizziness is overpowering. I literally can't function, but I can sleep at night 2nd day onward, though it takes slightly longer than usual to doze off. Happy today is my last day, and I will probably never want to take this again if I can help it."

Moxifloxacin for Sinusitis "The medicine worked great to counter my sinusitis, and I was breathing better after just one dose. But the side effects are almost unbearable: nausea, dizziness, headache, lightheadedness, dry mouth, and constipation. The dizziness and lightheadedness kick in after about an hour of taking the pill and last for about 5 hours. Very difficult to function normally and trying to work while taking this medicine."

Moxifloxacin for Bacterial Infection "The next day after taking it, I began to have twitching in my hands and fingers, dizzy, could not walk a straight line, and was extremely tired, sleeping 20 hours (I usually sleep 6 hours). After being taken off, after 3 days, most of my strength has returned, still a bit lightheaded. Apparently, these effects affect 2% who take the medicine."

Moxifloxacin for Sinusitis "I have used Avelox twice before, and took it at night as my doctor said there might be dizziness or sleepiness. Then I didn't need it for several years until this week. On my third dose, my sinus infection already feels like it has gone, but I can't fall asleep and my thoughts are racing - I would say agitated. I'm not sure if I can take this for seven more days."

Moxifloxacin for Pneumonia "I am on my sixth day of Avelox 400 mg for pneumonia. I have noticed a big change in my breathing, and I do feel better. Still counting down to the last 4. Mostly because after I take it, I start feeling depressed, ill, tired, and still cannot eat or drink much. So I dehydrated to the point that I could not understand what people were saying. Nothing made any sense. That is better now, but still get confused, dizzy, lightheaded when I walk, depressed, and so on."

Moxifloxacin for Sinusitis "I have chronic sinus infections that are not unbearable...mostly annoying. I was prescribed Avelox recently and am halfway done with my dose. I have had some seriously horrible reactions to this drug. Granted, it is obviously helping with my sinus infection, but the dizziness, nausea, lightheadedness, dehydration, and overall sick feeling are worse than the sinus infection itself. I am glad that I will no longer have an infection in my body, but isn't there another way? This is awful!"

Moxifloxacin for Bacterial Infection "Taken to address a long-standing prostate infection. On the 4th day of a 20-day course (400 mg once daily). Side effects include: slight to moderate confusion and vertigo. Slight to moderate tinnitus, loss of appetite, pasty mouth, thirst, mild tendonitis in the left knee. I'm not my positive, engaging self, and it's affecting my teaching (high school chemistry). I drive a motorcycle, so the vertigo and confusion symptoms are worrisome. I can deal with the above side effects provided they do not worsen. Prostatitis seems better, but it's too early for any conclusions in that regard. I'm continuing with the treatment."

I have a lot of pressure on the top of my head, I feel dizzy, and also my blood pressure gets really low. It’s awful, and I don’t know how I’m going to take the last two pills."
