Morphine "I was switched to MorphaBond after my ileostomy. I keep finding the pill partially dissolved in my pouch. A hard plastic-like cover with a powdery cotton material inside. Could this be due to the slow-release mechanism?"

Morphine "I began taking MS Contin 30 mg twice daily about 11 years ago due to a chronic pain condition caused, in large part, by lack of treatment due to no insurance. About 2 years into being on this medication, it was increased to 60 mg twice daily and, 2 years ago, 100 mg twice daily. This medication has always kept my level of pain at a point where I could function in a manner where my quality of life increased, although I am unable to work because my left arm is basically useless. Its main drawback for me is that, like with all opioids, tolerance does occur and dosing increases are sometimes necessary. I also take, for breakthrough pain, Tylenol #4, 1 or 2 tabs every 4-6 hours when required. I would personally recommend this medication to anyone with chronic pain issues."

Morphine "I was on 40 mg of Methadone four times a day for 5 years, and it worked fairly well to control my pain. I have had back surgery at L5/S1 and have disc degenerative disease. Due to a change in insurance, I have had to change to a different med. Now I am on 90 mg of Morphine Sulfate ER. This does not seem to be helping close to what the Methadone was. I need help to find a medication that will help. Both my pain specialist and I thought this would do the trick, but even with steroid injections, I am still in massive pain."

Morphine "This is for IR, not SR or ER morphine. It's great. I have terrible reactions to extended release. I'm taking 15 mg at 2-hour intervals. I've been working with where my pain is, yet it still hurts. I know a higher dose will do better, but Morphine Sulfate IR is going okay for now."

Morphine "Just started this medicine for my spine arthritis and knee arthritis. It takes away the pain pretty well. I am only on 15 mg. Only problem I have is it makes me feel light-headed and jittery at times. But, as far as getting rid of the pain, it is doing the job so far."

Morphine "Kadian has been an amazingly helpful medication for me. I take 14 medications daily, four of those medications are for severe pain. Until the doctor added Kadian, the pain just was not giving me any breaks. I have been on Kadian for about four years now. I would rather die than miss even one dose, as it's that important to the quality of my life. To be fair, I do have some side effects I consider to be mild and not worth even mentioning. One thing to say that is important: I am physically addicted to this medicine. Missing a dose makes me sick, sick, sick. But then again, I don't miss doses anyway because of my pain levels, however, the pharmacy, doctor, or insurance will mess up once in a while, so I do suffer from missing doses once in a while."

"I've had 9 knee surgeries, including a replacement at 48 (08), 7 facial repairs, fibromyalgia, arthritis, chronic hormonal migraines, asthma, and a ruptured left diaphragm from coughing. Liver's in chest and partially collapsed right lung lobe. The black mold, severe allergies, and infections equal cannot breathe without constant severe pain, pleurisy, rib fractures, etc.! I was using 15 mg ER every 12 hours with 15 mg for breakthrough! Not cutting the pain but better. After a bout with severe stomach flu and in the hospital for 5 days, I am using the oral liquid morphine! With the ER, significantly more effective!"

"As the morphine was effective, the more lasting effect was unexpected. I lost 12 teeth. A side effect? I don't have any other explanation. The health of my teeth was great before the 18 months of morphine. I was finally referred to a back pain specialist. I was to get off all medications to receive the injections. Cold turkey was the same as described in any heroin withdrawal. But I survived. I am taking a strong anti-inflammatory twice a day that seems to, after 9 years, keep the pain and the sciatica at bay. I still have numbness in my toes, but that is nerve damage from the inflammation. I live with that. My lack of upper teeth to chew my food is uncomfortable and embarrassing-no more smiles for me. No money for replacements."

Morphine "This is a lifesaver. I have many conditions that leave me in pain 24/7. I've been taking oxycodone for years and never got much relief, if I did, it wasn’t very long and made me feel buzzed, I guess you would call it. My doctor switched me to 30 mg MS Contin, and it has been a blessing. I don’t feel that buzzed feeling and have level pain relief all day and night. This medication is more natural than all the other opioid drugs. This is made from the poppy and not a lab."

Morphine "Like a lot of you here, I'm suffering from chronic back pain due to multiple auto accidents. I used to be on 100 mg Morphine ER 3 times a day with 3-30 mg morphine IR for breakout. That enabled me, with Advil and Excedrin, to work for 7 more years. Since then, with the massive cutback on opioids, I'm cut back to three 30 mg ER tablets a day and not able to do anything. On top of that, I just moved and cannot find a doctor that even wants to work with me here. I've been on Vicodin, Norco, and Fentanyl during all this also. Morphine has been the only one that has held the line against the pain."

"I was on morphine sulfate 15 mg ER for 3 months for the treatment of chronic pain. I knew we were on the right track when I was able to have a somewhat normal life. Now I'm up to 30 mg 2 times a day with a pain level of 2."

Morphine "Kind of useless on the pain I'm in, was on it for 7 months, 4x a day 2x30 mg ER and 2x30 mg IR, and I was still in pain, and coming off it was a process. I never once took it other than prescribed, and there is no doubt in my mind I was physically addicted to it. I weaned myself off for months to the point I was taking 1/4 a pill right when I laid down just so it did not feel like my skin was crawling as I tried to sleep. This is an addictive and useless pill for sciatica issues in my experience."

"I have been taking morphine 60ER, 30ER, 15ER for 15 months. It is working for me. My status is arthrodesis, also have chronic myofascial pain syndrome, degenerative disc disease, spondylolisthesis, lumbar radiculopathy, 2 surgeries. Recent surgery L4-L5 pedicle fusion and PLIF and deformed S-1. 7 months out, no bone growth, lots of pain. Live a lot better with this medicine. Walk better, still not fit for duty, still wear a brace and walk with a cane, only 36."

"Machine guns are heavy, and so is everything else in life. But my broken body hurts from the moment I wake up till sleep. Like one guy said, no doc in KY will help you, so I have to self-medicate. I have taken just about everything known for pain, I have been through it all. All of these new drugs, Roxy's 10-20-30 mg's, are meant to get you hooked, hooked and still in pain. But I never have pain or withdrawals when I take these 15 mg extended release. If you have a tolerance, you'll need at least 30-45 mg's in one dose. Honestly, these are without a doubt the best for pain I've taken thus far. No buzz and no pain."

"Doc prescribed ever increasing doses of both IR and ER for 8+ years until I was at 375-400 mg/day. I am retired now and don't need these high daily doses. I am severely addicted and on my 5th attempt to stop. I tried 3 cold and 1 methadone until I understood, methadone may get you off morphine, then you are addicted to that and need to taper. I live in Thailand, they don't have naloxone or suboxone and I wouldn't use it if they did. This is 100% from hospital pain management, not the street. In 6 weeks I have cut from 375 mg/day to just 20 now, September 14, 2023, and if I got this far, this time, I am too badass not to see the finish line. Addiction and withdrawal are REAL... an evil place you never want to go. Be very, very careful with dosing and how you feel, only take what you need when you really need it. DO NOT take 100 mg/day because the Doc prescribed it. Keep dosing as low as you can, and MOST IMPORTANT... STOP THEM as quick as"

Morphine "Kadian is a lifesaver when I have 'break-through' pain. I used to take it every day, but the pain clinic I went to was adding too many meds, we had an argument, and I left. My primary care doctor, knowing I have 4 fused cervical discs with the titanium plate, is still 'afraid' to prescribe. We agreed on 20 mg of oxycodone BID, down from 30 mg TID. I have suffered for 16 months and many more visits to my osteopath, who is so gifted. He 'GETS IT', and thinks no doctor should judge my situation and make me feel like an addict. I am going to request he re-prescribe 60 mg of Kadian for 'break-through' pain. Last week (1) 60 mg Kadian STOPPED my spine pain, 100%. Glad I saved (8) from 2 years ago. THANK YOU KADIAN~"

"The morphine sulfate has been the best of all the trials my doc and I went through. Found out 7 years ago I got massive damage from degenerative disc disease, stenosis, and arthritis. After surgery and losing 160 lbs, the pain was just as bad or worse, so off to the pain management route my doc and I go. I must say that I am extremely fortunate to have a doc that is not afraid to help me. She and I have a great relationship. Mind you, I do my part, all clean drug tests, no early visits, and follow the directives. I have a pain contract with her that I honor as well. We have been on 80 mg OC/4 day, fentanyl 100 mcg/48 hrs., and everything in between. The morphine is what I have been on the longest and has by far worked the best. Been on it for 4 years. Pain sucks."

Morphine "I've tried MS Contin a few times over the years and finally given up. What I really liked was good pain control without the euphoria or crash of IR products like oxycodone. What I didn't like was, after a few weeks, developing hallucinations and delusions that were so... real. I actually listed it as an allergy on my med records. Others tolerate it well. I'm not them though. Morphine derivatives like Dilaudid cause me no problems. It sucks, and is terrifying, to wake up convinced the bed is covered in spiders, to the point of seeing them. Not for me."

Morphine "I take Morphine Sulfate, 30 mg; bid. I take Morphine for an incurable brain disease. I take 3 narcotic medications for the absolutely unbearable pain I experience 8 times per day, at the exact same time. The Morphine IR 30 mg takes about a 1/10th of the pain away in about 20 minutes. If no relief in 20 minutes, I take one more. For me, Morphine IR 30 mg is a good choice; it works fairly well and does not interact with my other medications, which are many."

Morphine "The only true single daily dose morphine I've tried. More even dosage release than other morphine brands meant less tolerance, allowing me to stay on the same dose for years. For similar, but less even, relief, Kadian and Embeda required 2 doses per day, or MSContin 2-3 doses per day. Generic for Avinza is morphine sulfate ER beads."

"I have had headaches, both migraine and just normal head pain since I was very young. I'm 56 now. I have tried several pain meds for my day-to-day, all-day headaches, from plain aspirin to what I'm on now, morphine sulfate. I'm only 'allowed' to take 5 mg every 8 hours. This single pill does not work.... My doctor is on notice, not sure what for, but because he is, he had to cut me down from 25 mg to the 5. The higher dose was working!!! I'm now in pain again. Over the years, I've gone from aspirin, Tylenol, ibuprofen (works sometimes, extra strength, times 4-6 liquid caps), oxycodone, etc., etc., but morphine works for me!"

Morphine "I take 15 mg four times a day of immediate-release morphine. The doctor tried several pain medications, but morphine is the only one that worked for me. I always felt like I was almost there in controlling my pain, but not quite. When the doctor put me on morphine, I couldn't believe how much better I felt, and I'm not tired or groggy at all. I can function really well, and I'm so thankful that my pain management doctor put me on morphine. I did want to mention one thing: it seems to start wearing off about 3 hours after you take your immediate-release pill. So sometimes you have to take another pill a little bit earlier, but the doctor said that would be OK as long as I don't go over the amount of pills I'm allotted for the day."

Morphine "I have degenerative disks in my neck and lower back, of which I was using many forms of medications. Now that I am battling cancer, my oncologist put me on liquid-type morphine every 4 hrs. I have started out at 30mg Kadian, a 24 hr release to help relieve the combination of all my issues. Always stay hydrated and use a stool softener. Good luck."

I've been to several pain clinics and doctors on meds, narcotics, but none helped me like Avinza. I take 90 mg plus 10/325 Percocet as needed for breakthrough, and it helps so much. I have only constipation, and I take Amitiza for that. I'm happy my insurance covers it."
