"I had a spinal stroke 8 months ago, spinal cord infarction, that has left me in a wheelchair, and around the clock pain. I began taking MS Contin in December, 15mg 2x a day, along with Tramadol, Lyrica, and Percocet 10/325. I was able to cut way back on the Percocet and Tramadol once I began the morphine, and have been able to continue so until the middle of March. My pain is not responding as well since my tolerance has obviously increased. I have talked to my doctor about this and am going to go up to 30mg twice daily beginning in April. Morphine has allowed me to pretty much cut out two pain medications while providing a more consistent pain relief."

"It is unbelievable. I have hurt so badly and for so long. Finally, I got a caring doctor that actually listened to me. He spent about 45 minutes talking to me. I have had a spinal fusion and both hips replaced. The discs above and below the fusion are going bad. I found a doctor that prescribed the MS, and I am almost pain-free. I am afraid to take a deep breath. It has been so long since I could do the most ordinary things like push the grocery cart and walk up an incline. I think this drug is wonderful. I haven't had the up and down ride you get with hydrocodone."

"Garbage. No pain relief! Should never have been approved. The study they did was they gave it to 25 junkies and asked them if they would abuse it. Why should I care? What about people suffering in pain? Did they test it to see if it stopped pain? It doesn't release the medication! Why not cover pills in stainless steel? Then there is zero chance of efficacy, isn't that the goal? If there is microplastic in everyone's bodies and the environment, what is the cumulative effect of the ingredients in this garbage? Who wants a buildup in their gut of some toxic plastic rubber covering? But more than that, for the dying, the person in serious pain, it doesn't release the medication, period. I know this was approved so the FDA could appear to be 'doing something' about illegal drugs. Follow that logic, all this will do is harm people in agony while costing a fortune. Dangerous to give to people in serious pain. If suicides occur on it, because it doesn't work, don't be surprised."

"In 2001, I had knee surgery. The surgeon cut a nerve, and I’ve been in chronic pain since then. The surgeon didn’t care. My GP went through many combinations of medications. I was relieved when he put me on Morphine Sulfate ER 60 mg (with Gabapentin and Ibuprofen). Taking this twice a day, I no longer want to break things or am aggressive. I hope the government realizes that pain medication is necessary, even though others abuse it."

"I have been using Kadian for about 5 years, and it has kept my pain at bay. I was recently switched to morphine, and the pain that drives me crazy came back well before I could take another pill (8 hr). I found this intolerable and went back to the Kadian. As of Jan. 2017, the only thing my doctor says I will be able to get is EMBEDA. I have not tried it yet but was denied coverage by my insurance. The DEA should not interfere with patients getting their proper medication!"

"Had been on time-release OxyContin, 20 mg, 2x daily for 2.5 years for severe neuropathy and arthritis in both feet. But insurance changed and had to switch to MS Contin's generic, Morphine ER, 30 mg, twice a day. Was dubious this would be as effective as OxyContin, but has worked like a charm! Been on it for a year now, same dosage. Before time-release pain meds, I was in so much pain. Now, I'm nearly pain-free and it's given me my life back. I can't do too much strenuous walking, but can do things like run errands or take my daughter to the mall. I'm in the process of talking to my doctor about something for breakthrough pain, which hits when I overdo it, or sometimes around the 10-hour mark, and have 2 hours to wait."

"I was taking upwards of 10-10/325 Percocets a day and still having knee pain that would prevent me from getting up in the morning. I suffer from chronic patella dislocation among several other knee issues. Taking 60 mg MS Contin 3 times a day is a godsend. I'm down to 2-3 Percocets for the breakthrough pain, but the MS Contin has helped me get through the day and be able to play with my son. I thank my doctor and pharmacist every month."

"Have been taking ER 120 mg 3x a day, with 60 mg for breakthrough pain. I suffer from chronic spinal stenosis with achondroplasia. That being a progressive disorder. After many different doctors' prescriptions not helping, I went to a pain management clinic. I was inpatient for 4-5 days till they finally found the right drug and, most importantly, the right dose. I do take 60-90 mg for breakthrough pain. It works so well. Bless those doctors that took the time and effort to find answers. I am on the same dose for a while now. The only side effect is bad constipation. I use a stool softener. What a relief to finally have a decent quality of life finally."

"Very good medication (as they go) for chronic, intractable back pain. Works well with NSAIDs to keep pain at a tolerable level, without frequent dose changing. Needs to have a breakthrough med with it. Fast-acting morphine a good choice."

"I have tried several different pain meds. I had 2 discs in my neck replaced in 2008 and have a neck fusion. I also have severe and chronic pain. It's unbearable at times. I take 60 mg ER, one in the morning and one at night. It's the only thing that lets me function, and Xanax 2 mg relaxes the muscles in my neck and back. I find it works better if I take 1 and lie down for about 20 minutes to let it work better, then I'm good 'til evening. I wouldn't be able to get out of bed without them. It really takes my pain away like nothing else ever. I've been on it for about 7-8 years."

"I take it for chronic back and foot pain. I had been taking OxyContin ER, but insurance isn't covering that anymore. I am not a fan of short-acting meds, trying to stay on top of pain with them. MS Contin seems to be working only slightly less effectively than the OxyContin ER. More dry mouth, less sedating though. Both seem about equal on other side effects. I'm happy with it!"

"MS Contin 200 mg x2 am/2 pm, allows me to function more than without it. I'm actually out of bed more than before I started. I don't get the highs and lows of taking short-acting pain meds around the clock. I get a steady release of pain control. Of course, I have breakthrough Dilaudid 8 mg tabs as needed. I have chronic pain, multiple lumbar spine fusions, cervical spine compression (all levels). Currently advised to get total cervical fusion, but didn't get medical approval for surgery. This medicine is a life preserver!"

"It worked great on my Hyper-Mobility Syndrome! (All of my joints are 'double-jointed') which causes chronic pain for years and gets worse with age. The only side effect I've had is constipation. With Avinza, I actually have a better quality of life!"

"I have chronic back pain for 23 years following a fall down a flight of stairs. I ruptured 3 discs and fractured various vertebral areas in my lumbar and thoracic spine. I also have chronic Lyme disease, brucellosis, and I have developed fibromyalgia and chronic regional pain syndrome in both lower extremities. I have various types of paresthesia from burning to lancing. I have been on many types of Schedule II opioid pain medications from fentanyl, morphine, hydromorphone, oxycodone, hydrocodone, and methadone. The best relief and safest medication has been the morphine sulfate extended-release 200 mg every 12 hours with 30 mg oxycodone every 4 hours for breakthrough pain. I just wish it was less expensive since I do not have insurance."

"So, I was on 30 mg of MS Contin (morphine) two times a day for 6 months. Then they took me down to two 15 mg a day, and I complained. Now they give me this Morphabond two times a day, 15 mg. I'm on day 4 and have not gotten ANY relief AT ALL from this! The only relief I get is when I get to take a breakthrough oxycodone at 8-hour intervals! This medicine is useless! I even said I didn't think it was dissolving or something. Now reading the comments, no wonder people OD on this. It's NOT because they ABUSE them, it's because they aren't getting any of the meds that they are paying for! Then when I go back to pain management and they pee test me, they will say there's nothing there. Watch, because the stuff doesn't dissolve or get absorbed!! What a waste!!!"

"After trying Percocet, OxyContin, and several other types of pain medication, my doctor prescribed me Kadian, and by far, this is the best medication I have ever used for my chronic pain from lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. I am on the low dose of 10 mg, and it has outperformed the 40 mg OxyContin I was on."

"Two scripts (different mg) Kadian (brand only), therapeutic amount by far the best long-acting narcotic I've taken (with Lyrica, Topamax, Zanaflex, etc). Struck by lightning - neurological effects; fibromyalgia; thoracic outlet syndrome; spinal stenosis in cervical, thoracic, & lumbar. 3 level lumbar decompression - power wheelchair; thoracic spinal surgery, and so much more."

"I have osteoarthritis from head to toe. At a visit, my rheumatologist stated I had reached a point where I needed more help than she could provide and wanted me to go to a pain clinic. I had never heard of them. I began going there, they took several vials of blood. They wrote a script for 10 mg of oxycodone for up to 4 a day. When I returned in 30 days, after reviewing my labs, they also wanted me to take MS Contin, 15 mg morning and night. I was told I would not feel the effect for about 2 weeks. I was about to give up, but one morning I got up and realized, wow, my pain was down. Since I have pain medicine in my system 24 hours a day, plus I can take my oxycodone as needed, my pain is much more controlled. I know I will never be pain-free, but it's okay."

"I was on a lot of pain medications but found myself on three 60 mg morphines and four 15 mg oxycodone until my doctor of 10 years moved when I was forced tapered down to 90 mgs a day of morphine. I was booted out of my pain place and tracked down my former doc, and he force tapered me down to 45 mgs a day of morphine, no breakthrough medicines. In the Midwest, we are being forced down to 45 mgs a day or 45 MME."

"I have been taking Morphine Sulfate IR (MSIR) 30 mg for over twenty-eight (28) years, and it truly helps me with my breakthrough pain relief. I have tried other pain medications; however, they have never even taken the edge off of my pain."

"I was prescribed 60 mg MS Contin twice a day, switching from the 50 mcg/hr fentanyl patch because of side effects problems and the fact it only works for the first two days. I was diagnosed with fairly severe osteoarthritis and degenerative disk disease last year at the age of 26. After wearing the patch for a few months, my natural pain tolerance nearly vanished. Now taking this MS Contin feels like taking aspirin or a small ER/CR hydrocodone dose."

"After trying Percocet, gabapentin, Hysingla, I tried Morphabond. It did nothing for my pain, and I was on 45 mg a day. It was less effective than Advil. I was in agony and couldn’t get out of bed by myself. Switched to Norco, and I am a different person now, almost pain-free. I’m not sure why this med didn’t help because it’s supposed to be stronger, and Norco is much lower, but for whatever reason, it didn’t work for me and was $200 a month for a year! I’m glad I switched as Norco is $6.81 a month."

"I am 55 and have been on this long-acting medication for decades. It keeps my overall pain at a level but doesn't seem to conquer the severe bone pain. I have another med for breakthrough pain. I have had RSD for almost 30 years now, had endometriosis as well as fibromyalgia, DDD, spinal stenosis, post-Lyme arthritis, and adhesive arachnoiditis from the 14 years of constant epidural injections, one of which went very badly in 2007. Morphine ER saved my life. When the doctors decided to force taper me off both of my Rx opioids in 2018, due to the totally misread 2016 CDC guidelines, I simply wanted my journey to end. The pain was worse than I could ever explain, and I would only get 1 to 2 hours of sleep. I finally found a doctor in January 2020, and while, due to the overall stricter prescribing standards, my doctor could only prescribe a little bit each month until I finally got up to my dose of 60 mg, 3 times daily. This medicine is a godsend for my quality of living."

"As an RN, I was exposed to massive radiation during heart caths from the fluoro-tube, as the left side of my face was close to the tube during caths. I had reconstructive surgery because the radiation destroyed the bones that held my teeth, the left sinus floor, then traveled to my left rib cage, 12 rib fractures from picking up a glass of tea or coughing. I also have fractured L4, L5, and S1 from a 5-rollover car accident. I've tried Demerol/Phenergan, oxycodone, OxyContin, Dilaudid, Vicodin, Percocet, Darvocet, Oromorph. All pain meds work differently on different neuro-pathways. The only med that has ever worked for me, Morphine IR 15 mg, 4x day. I took a morphine vacation for one month, then back on morphine. I can function, work, and be productive without being doped up. Extended-release morphine has never worked for bone/nerve pain. Doctors are now regulated by the DEA, and cannot prescribe more than 90 mg/day of any narcotic. Only end-stage cancer patients can get more."
