For Muscle Spasm "Methocarbamol is the best. I hate opiate-based medications, they make me dizzy and sick. Methocarbamol 500 mg taken with 800 mg ibuprofen was like a beautiful switch from heaven. It just turned off the pain with absolutely no side effects-except for the first time, some well-needed sleep. I pull back muscles quite often, and that combination instantly works every time."

For Opiate Withdrawal "Back in '07, I was diagnosed with leukemia. I was pretty bad off. So going through all of that, I found out that I have a lot of back problems. So for 15 years now, I've been taking 30 mg of oxy, 4 times a day, and 9, 10 mg of methadone a day. So my doctor got raided by the FBI, no shit. So it's been very hard. I get no sleep, I'm in constant pain, and I'm running to the bathroom all the time. I went to the ER last night, and they gave me one of these pills. It did seem to help, I got a few hours of sleep. And that's one of the worst things for me: it's not being able to sleep. I have to say that this is worse than going through cancer. So at the ER, they told me to go to a methadone clinic. So I woke up today and thought about it, but that would just put me back to the beginning of feeling like shit. So I'm glad I got on here to see all of your stories. So I'm going to go get my script of these, and I'm praying to God that it will help. The WD from methadone is bad, I can't take feeling like this."

Methocarbamol for Muscle Spasm "Do not take this drug. It made me ill after neck surgery. Read nih.gov about the terrible side effects around since 1957. I have my gallbladder surgery in March. I turned yellow, I had balance problems. Go to NIH.GOV to read about it. I couldn't remember what day it was. Memory loss is a big problem. The memory problem goes on after it, over 6 months for me. I couldn't sleep. It kept me awake at night, belching. Just awful."

For Muscle Spasm "Methocarbamol does not work for my calf muscle injury. I have stopped taking this because it’s a waste of time, it’s like popping candy. I have been dealing with lack of sleep because of the pain. I need to find something else because I can’t function this way."

For Muscle Spasm "This did work for me, but I experienced quite a few of the side effects, including memory problems, taste alteration, insomnia, and shaking hands. It does work, but I found it difficult working while taking this, and unfortunately, taking time off was not an option."

Methocarbamol for Muscle Spasm "New to this medication. Switched to this because of side effects from Zanaflex. I notice this medication does not make me sleepy - not sure what to do about getting sleep as the Zanaflex did help me sleep through the night (aside from the side effects). Curious what others on this do for sleep, or if this will eventually help with that? I really miss Soma, although with that one my tolerance built up really quickly and I had rebound insomnia when I stopped taking it."

For Opiate Withdrawal "I’ve been on methadone 130 mg a day for over 10 years. No one told me just how bad methadone is. I was actually referred to the methadone clinic for Lortab withdrawals. Lord, if I only knew then what I know now!! I would have NEVER started methadone. Anyway, I’m tapering myself off methadone 5 mg a week. I’m down 15 mg and was fine the first 15 mg drop. (I think because I had so much built up in my system. Now that I’ve hit 20 mg down, I’m getting very uncomfortable. Leg cramps, not sleeping, sneezing constantly (why is that a w/d symptom lol so weird?) My husband has 3 bottles of this methocarbamol for muscle pain in his back, he hardly takes it. I’ve noticed a decent difference in leg pain and the general uncomfortable flu feeling. I hope this continues to help as I really don’t want to be dependent on anything for any longer. I’ve already given addiction 13 plus years of my life."

For Muscle Spasm "I was on this medication for two weeks for a bulging disc, and it was a nightmare. 500 mg twice a day. After the first week, that's when I noticed the side effects: insomnia, body jerking, sweating, and it can produce heat on your body. Won't take this anymore."

For Muscle Spasm "Robaxin worked well to relieve the muscle spasm I had, but unfortunately, it kept me up the whole night, and I have to go to school in 2 hours. So, I guess I sit on the fence, it works quite well to relieve muscle spasms in my back, but the insomnia makes it more trouble than it's worth."

For Muscle Spasm "Broke my back in '97, surgery in '98, and tried all kinds of therapies. Taking this first thing in the morning, with ibuprofen, gets me through work, then another and oxycodone allow me to do pretty much anything I want with few side effects, other than an occasional sleepless night."

"I always hurt due to partial L-6 hemi vertebrae (common for rh-) spinal stenosis, dural tube impingement, herniated disc, degenerative disc and joint disease. Robaxin, generic of methocarbamol, has not done squat, nor did Flexeril. Methocarbamol helped me sleep the first few months but does nothing to correct uncorrectable. Pain is my life and I have had incredible issues with treating."

"After suffering with what I thought was a toothache for over two weeks, a second X-ray and more thorough exam found a very old case of TMJD had 'gone bad.' After the first dentist visit, he had me taking three naproxen sodium capsules three times a day. I could tell the minute it started to wear off, but at least it was effective and gave me some deep rest. This medicine was prescribed (methocarbamol, 2000 mg every 6 hours on the day I was diagnosed, then 1500 mg three times a day till gone {he prescribed 90!!}) addles my mind and offers no relief through sleep. When asked if it helped with the pain, I had to answer I had no idea. I didn't hurt (or did I?) but by this morning, I was so sleep-deprived, I felt drunk. And the taste (pills are mammoth--chalky and bitter) is absolutely awful. I cannot swallow them fast enough not to get a hit of its acrid and long-lasting flavor. I am going back on the naproxen while I get ready for treatment."

Methocarbamol for Muscle Spasm "Robaxin has worked very well for my back muscle spasms. Also for tension headache due to muscle tension in my neck and head. My only side effects were initially a feeling of constantly needing to urinate, even when there was no need. But that went away after a few weeks. Now, though, I have been experiencing bad dreams and broken sleep, the problem is I don't know if these negative effects are from the Robaxin or something else I am taking. I do take several other medications in addition to the Robaxin."
