Skelaxin (metaxalone) for Fibromyalgia: “I take Skelaxin for my Degenerated Disc Disease, it's helping with pain alot. Also, I'm losing weight because it suppresses my appetite so that's a plus.”

Skelaxin (metaxalone) for Muscle Spasm: “I found Skelaxin made me drowsy but it also made the muscle spasms go away. I take it at night because of that but I realize that I may be a special case because 800 mg of Motrin makes me sleepy as well.”

Skelaxin (metaxalone) for Muscle Spasm: “My doctor added this with the Vicodin, no relief of anything and very expensive. I'll stick to Flexeril when I need a muscle relaxer.”

Skelaxin (metaxalone) for Fibromyalgia: “Skelaxin has been wonderful for me. I first tried it 3 years ago when I could no longer tolerate the pain and spasms associated with my fibromyalgia. Like many other people, I needed something that I could function with and Flexeril had a sedating effect. I have experienced no side effects on Skelaxin.”

Skelaxin (metaxalone) for Muscle Spasm: “I had to go to 800 mg Metaxalone every 6 hours (directions from the inpatient pain specialist) while trying to recover from an emergency laminectomy L3 & L4, even though the regular directions say per 8 hours. It helped for awhile, but now I am off of it temporarily so the spine specialists can figure how much of the scoliosis is due to which spasms. The original injury caused total paralysis progressing over 6 weeks; I had no choice but to get the surgery. Long ago I took Baclofen for the great pain and spasm relief. However, it caused major memory loss and other mental weirdness that caused people to think I was psychotic. Thank God for a wise doctor who knew about this rare side effect. If you take it, BE CAREFUL!”

Skelaxin (metaxalone) for Muscle Spasm: “No bad side effects, but minimal pain relief in lower back. I did notice lowered tension in shoulders and it felt a lot like Flexaril. Flexaril really causes some bad side efffects for me. Skelaxin had no side effects that I noticed, just not right for my condition. I'll give it credit for lowering general muscular tension though.”

Skelaxin (metaxalone) for Muscle Spasm: “I was prescribe this after a very minor fender bender. I thought I was fine after the accident. But as I sat in my work chair, I turned to the side to get a print out and I just got stuck! Stuck by the pain. After the chair situation, the day just got worst. I went to an urgent care where I got the prescription for this along with physical therapy. The conjunction of the 2 might have led to the speedy recovery! After some spring cleaning today, I knew I would need some Skelaxin. I know, seems like normal wear and tear for a home owner. But when you are as inactive as I am, even an extra activity can be excruciating!! Being allergic to ibuprofen also doesn't help. One Skelaxin later and my leg and arm pains went away. Thank goodness.”

Skelaxin (metaxalone) for Muscle Spasm: “I have fibromyalgia as well as muscle spasms related to lordosis and to an orthopedic problem, as well as dysmenorrhea. Skelaxin is my rescue medicine. If I get a calf spasm in the bad leg that a hot pack and some stretching won't subdue, half a Skelaxin will do the trick, no sedation, just good work. I'd give it a ten if it weren't so very expensive! When I have the very bad cramping related to my menstrual period, 100 mg of tramadol and 400 mg of skelaxin will make me drowsy and unfocused, but it means that while I can still tell I'm cramping, it's like someone shouting inside a house while you stand outside, and I can get on with things as needed.”

Skelaxin (metaxalone) for Muscle Spasm: “I had muscle spasms from sleeping on my stomach and I couldn't function much at all. I told my doctor I needed something to relieve the pain but something I could function on at work and while driving. She prescribed this and I love it. The only thing I can tell from it whenever I take is relief of my spasms. No drowsiness or loopiness for me.”

Skelaxin (metaxalone) for Fibromyalgia: “Wonderful, but expensive, muscle relaxant! This is the only type of muscle relaxant that I can take, experience some relief from pain and stiffness, and still be able to drive, stay awake, etc. LOVE Skelaxin!”

Skelaxin (metaxalone) for Muscle Spasm: “I have tried everything out there and for me this is a drug that allows me to finally have a day without pain. I have had four cervical spine surgeries and two shoulder replacements. After the surgeries I started having terrible muscle spasms around the neck/shoulder area. I pretty much gave up and just stayed home. I feel like a new person.”

Skelaxin (metaxalone) for Fibromyalgia: “I have fibromyalgia or they say and have been on everything known to mankind even experimental drugs. I am now down to just pain medicines which I am weening myself off of. I tried Skelaxin and has it helped relax the tension I have had for years now. I have been doing stretching exercises and this medicine helps loosen me up so it's not so painful. It's probably just another bandaid but it has helped me so far...very expensive though. ”

Skelaxin (metaxalone) for Muscle Spasm: “Likewise. As others here have posted, I had an L-4 / L-5 issue. It required a lumbarectomy in 1995. I also have no ability to control myself from over doing dosage with medicines that have mind altering effects. My doctor knew this and prescribed skelaxin "as needed" and a daily stretching regimin. "As needed" has been very controlable, even for me (with my weakness for over use). My pain is relieved and my mind stays clear.”

Skelaxin (metaxalone) for Muscle Spasm: “My Pain Management Physician prescribed Skelaxin to help control severe spasms in my inner thighs down to and including my feet. My condition is "Failed Back Syndrome" which resulted from 2X Laminectomies at L4-L5. Prior to this I had been using Zanaflex for two years but had side effects. I advised my doctor I needed a medicine, which would help address my spasms without making me a zombie and he prescribed Skelaxin. That was five years ago and it saved my life. While I continue to have periodic spasms, I can eat my meals without my wife standing by in case I choked on my food. I would recommend Skelaxin to any individual who has muscle spasms.”

Skelaxin (metaxalone) for Muscle Spasm: “Treatment for Restless Legs Syndrome - I was recently diagnosed with RLS (a condition I thought to be psychosomatic until I got it - it's real!) I thought my wife and I were going to have to sleep in separate beds due to my tossing, turning, stretching, etc. to get relief. From the first dose of Skelaxin the problem was eliminated. It's a wonder-drug in my personal opinion.”
