Metaxalone for Muscle Spasm "I've had low back pain for almost a decade now. I will be turning 32 this year. I've tried Robaxin, Flexeril, Tizanidine, and all the Benzos. Oxy, Hydro, Tramadol, Tylenol with codeine, etc. I was also on Soma for many years, but it became a pain to get at the pharmacy (out of stock) (issues with it being controlled) etc. What works best for me is a routine of Tylenol ER, Gabapentin, Celebrex, Metaxalone, and Lidoderm. Metaxalone is a lot less sedating than Soma/Flexeril and works better than the above mentioned. I would recommend at least trying it! Downside is that it can be expensive for some reason, so try getting it through mail order in a 3-month supply!"

Metaxalone for Muscle Spasm "I have been taking Skelaxin ever since 1994. I was suffering from Fibromyalgia. I had a bad car accident and had no clue what Fibromyalgia was. I found out that Fibromyalgia is not pleasant at all. I finally found a doctor that properly diagnosed me, and he prescribed me Skelaxin. I don't know what I would have done without it. I have tried other muscle relaxers, and they did not work or they made me too drowsy to function. I am much better now, and I usually take one Skelaxin at night before I go to bed."

Metaxalone for Muscle Spasm "Started Skelaxin for muscle spasms in low back, upper back, and neck. My first try at taking it I took it 3x/day for a couple of days and on my next visit to the Dr., I told her that I could not take it on a routine basis like that due to the sleepiness. She told me to take it on an as-needed basis. I also tried it just at bedtime and thought it was that which was making me so terribly hard to wake up the next morning. So I stopped that. But within the last week, I must have strained the muscles in my lower back, I was having terrible pain and tenseness in my upper back. Also, for the past few nights, I have fallen asleep on the couch sitting up and developed horrible pain in my neck. I decided to try it again while others were around, and it has been working."

For Muscle Spasm "The pain in my lower back due to some extreme exercise moves reacted immediately to this medication. The first sign of improvement was when I lifted myself out of bed the first morning after starting: 800 mg 3x a day. However, I ended up in the hospital a couple of days later due to severe nausea and loss of consciousness. It may be a combination of things that were going on. Still on it after about two weeks, and I am experiencing nausea and loss of appetite, as well as sleepiness. Physical therapy, along with this, is working well. I am about to ask the doctor if I can only take it as needed."

For Muscle Spasm "Because Flexeril made me really drowsy, I asked for an alternative and was given metaxalone. I found that it worked just as well without the drowsiness, and I was happy with it. I take it for when I throw my neck or back out. Then I started taking Viibryd (anti-depressant) two weeks ago. I checked here for interactions between it and metaxalone, and it said there was none, so when I needed it for my back this morning, I didn't hesitate to take one. And oh my goodness, I became super drowsy and pretty nauseous. I was also a bit unsteady on my feet. I had to climb in the bed and sleep it off."

Metaxalone for Muscle Spasm "I had a very strange episode of a serious neck cramp. I was still able to move it, but if I did, I would get a constant dull to sharp pain. In fact, I could only sit in one particular position in order to subside the pain. I took some Skelaxin and a small dose of hydrocodone. It was without a doubt the best way to get rid of that pain. After about 45 minutes of taking it, I was feeling 90% without sleepiness or 'weirdness.' Highly recommended."

Metaxalone for Muscle Spasm "Very good! I was given samples to try instead of the usual generic Flexeril I usually take for muscle pain/spasm from severe degeneration in c-spine. This medicine works better and for me had no noticeable drowsiness. I can actually feel the release of spasm and loosening of joint pain, unlike the other which leaves me half conscious. Great stuff."

Metaxalone for Muscle Spasm "I had muscle spasms from sleeping on my stomach, and I couldn't function much at all. I told my doctor I needed something to relieve the pain, but something I could function on at work and while driving. She prescribed this, and I love it. The only thing I can tell from it whenever I take is relief of my spasms. No drowsiness or loopiness for me."

Metaxalone for Muscle Spasm "I found Skelaxin made me drowsy, but it also made the muscle spasms go away. I take it at night because of that, but I realize that I may be a special case because 800 mg of Motrin makes me sleepy as well."

Metaxalone for Muscle Spasm "I have fibromyalgia as well as muscle spasms related to lordosis and to an orthopedic problem, as well as dysmenorrhea. Skelaxin is my rescue medicine. If I get a calf spasm in the bad leg that a hot pack and some stretching won't subdue, half a Skelaxin will do the trick, no sedation, just good work. I'd give it a ten if it weren't so very expensive! When I have the very bad cramping related to my menstrual period, 100 mg of tramadol and 400 mg of Skelaxin will make me drowsy and unfocused, but it means that while I can still tell I'm cramping, it's like someone shouting inside a house while you stand outside, and I can get on with things as needed."

Metaxalone "I was prescribed Skelaxin after being diagnosed with advanced DDD and stenosis. It doesn't help with the pain, and I get the same drowsy effects that I had with Flexeril."
